Murray & Paul's has been in the Brookland 'hood since the early '60s - this Korean-owned breakfast and brunch spot serves up breakfast plates and burgers. We came here for a later breakfast, and we ordered: +the Pancake Special - this came with 2 eggs (went for scrambled) with a choice of meat (opted for the sausage); the pancakes were large and fluffy, with a generous amount of butter +a Good Morning breakfast sandwich - turkey bacon, egg, and provolone on wheat with grape jelly; this was just okay; bread could have been more fresh; provolone wasn't salty enough, and the turkey bacon was side and just okay +and, a side of corned beef hash I wanted to try their steak & cheese, but I guess it was too early! HA! The place is small, but had a good number of booths/tables. We were told we could choose a table, and our friendly server quickly took our orders. There were also a constant stream of patrons picking up their orders to go. Street parking can be found in the area. +tasty pancakes +friendly service +street parking available

The service and low prices is probably what keeps people coming because the food is mediocre.

A no frills, hole in the wall breakfast spot with about 10 booths and a few bar seats. When I went you couldn't sit at all the bar seats because the counter was full with other business materials. The prices are low, the place itself is a bit rundown but it does feel like quite the neighborhood spot. The potatoes were amazing, the eggs were a little runnier then I personally like them and when they ask if you want big or little sausage patties, the bigger ones looked yummier. Lots on the menu, quick service, and very nice staff.

we had such a great time there! randomly found it on yelp && we wanted a good diner and they did not disappoint! we both got omelettes which were huge && perfect! i got the veggie && my partner got the western. the serving size isnt missed because it also came with potatoes or grits w toast. the coffee didnt stop! you can tell they get busy and our server didnt miss. everything was quick && hot! its been there since 1964 so you can imagine its older but the vibe is chill. the music was jammin the entire time too!

Probably the best pancakes I've had in a while! So classic, so fluffy, so big. Loved that they had veggie sausage too. & you can't beat the price!

The other reviewers are right. This is the classic diner, greasy spoon, hole-in-the-wall, whatever you want to call it breakfast joint. Definitely on the skimpier side as they skip creature comforts you get most other places, namely a printed/online menu and the option of paying with a card. Easily five stars if they included these items. Made-to-order basic flat top breakfasts that are delicious. The portions are very generous and I appreciated I could customize the cheese in my omelet as well as how I wanted my home fries done. Happy that this place exists and is so close by. The staff was super friendly. There aren't many other places you can get breakfast for two with a generous tip for less than $30.

This place is far better than any of the overpriced, overly fancy, over-the-top restaurants in DC that try to label themselves a diner. This is a true diner, massive, and I mean massive, pancakes and all! The people who own and run this place are absolute gems and make the place feel like home. There was a bit of a wait for a table, but it wasn't bad at all and service was fast and smooth and always friendly. The food itself was abundant and delicious (highly recommend the pancake special!) and all at a reasonable price unlike every other place in this city. I would go every weekend if I could!

I wasn't aware the business only took cash and they gave me my food for free. It was greatly appreciated and very delicious.

This was apparent in the warm, welcoming atmosphere where everyone was working together as a team, learning, being patient, and you could see the growth and confidence happening in real time. It was really inspiring to see. Service was great - quick, friendly, and helpful. The food was very tasty and inexpensive - breakfast sandwiches were well-portioned and under $10. They also had lattes, coffees, and teas. They have an outdoor patio overlooking Rhode Island Avenue and seating inside with their nternet if you are looking for a workspace, meeting place, or coffee/snack shop. Customer service was great and I was greeted immediately. It wasn't crowded but there was a steady flow of customers while I was there. I ordered the Breakfast Wrap, which was fantastic along with a Granny Smith apple lemonade. I would've never thought to put those two items together but it was easily one of the best lemonades I've ever tried. I had to order a second one when my daughter decided my drink was now for her. Speaking of, my daughter ordered the Nutella Stuffed French Toast and rated it a 100/10. While waiting for my order, I had a chance to speak with one of the head chef's and he told me about the culinary program their offer to teach refugees culinary skills. I loved hearing that tidbit about the shop and found it truly admirable. Overall, my only gripe is the street parking situation can be a little tough but it wasn't too bad on this particular morning. I would absolutely return.

The cook was sitting at one of the tables and the waitress was behind the bar (they don't serve alcohol) hoping someone would come in. There is an upstairs and a downstairs. We did not go downstairs but I'm assuming there are plenty of seats like upstairs. We ordered the hangry breakfast, which came with French toast, eggs and potatoes, the salmon burger and the chicken & waffles. It's a good thing we ordered so much becaus the chicken and waffles only comes with 4 wingettes. We ordered water but were told they were out of ice. Instead my wife ordered a $4 CANNED SODA because that is the only thing they had cold. $4 for a can is insane by the way. Since we were the only ones in the establishment we expected the food to come quickly but that seemed to take 20-25 minutes as well. Our food eventually arrived. The French toast was good. Flavorful but small. Sandwhich bag slices of bread. The potatoes were clearly from the Walmart frozen foot section. The eggs were ok. My wife's waffle was cool however the chicken was BLAND and SEASONLESS. We didn't even finish them. For $18 I expected more. The salmon burger was by far the best thing there. A thick cut of salmon that was flavorful. We should have gotten two of those. The waitress was nice. The food is overpriced. I should have known when we walked in and the place was empty. Not sure how they stay open having brunch without alcohol but to each is own. One and done for me as a neighborhood guy. The food isn't great and the prices are high. No reason to return.

The outdoor space is stunning, and everything just feels brighter and happier. The staff are really nice, the patrons are enjoying themselves, and they just have excellent food. My friend and I happen to come during this fashion show event so there were complimentary hors d'oeuvres for everybody present, but we still ordered delicious deviled eggs (I could've eaten a whole tray of them) and had some great cocktails. You know, for the first time ever, I paid attention to a bunch of board games that they have on a shelf. But based on the stuff that's on the shelf in front of them, I am not 100% sure that they are up for grabs, but it still looks cool. Anyone who is in this area should definitely pay them a visit. Provost is an absolute JOY - the ambience, the service, THE FOOD!!! The restaurant accommodated us when we had to push our reservation back and then were very gracious and attentive when we were seated. We went on a Friday night and there was a DJ spinning an excellent set from the 70s/80s/90s mostly. It was a little bit loud, but the vibe was so joyful that we didn't mind. I don't know if the DJ is a nightly feature. My husband had the fried whole red snapper and the garlic spinach. He ate every last morsel, except the one tiny bite I managed to steal. Excellent flavor, moist, perfectly spiced. I ordered the Mac n Cheese balls as an appetizer and the grilled shrimp and cheese grits as my main. The cheese balls arrived piping hot and SO DARN GOOD. Heaven. And the shrimp and grits were also delicious. The shrimp was perfectly cooked - not rubbery or tough at all. I took some of the grits and one cheese ball home so that I'd have room for dessert. Opted for the caramel drizzled cheesecake. Perfection. Provost feels like you're walking into your best friend's house for dinner and maybe a little partying, too. It was a wonderful introduction to the neighborhood- can't wait to go back!
