An excellent Mother's Day Brunch experience! The staff were very nice and the atmosphere was on point! We had the brunch tasting menu for our party of 6 and there was plenty of food. My only note for improvement would be the timing of when the food is brought out to the table. Some people like to eat certain food items together and the pace was lagging in-between the food items dropped off to the table. Another area for improvement was the frequency in which the waiter checked our table, especially since we had bottomless mimosas. I feel we may not have been able to maximize on our mimosas due to the slow check-backs. I went and joined some friends for brunch before an afternoon baseball game. The space is beautiful. There is a patio and would be a great spot on a nice day. Tables are limited, so make sure to have a reservation. On the topic of food, I didn't see much on the menu I could eat, so just opted for a cocktail (ate at home). There were some side option, just nothing that really suited me. I ordered a beer and later a tequila sunrise. The cocktail was bright, beautiful, and delicious. It was such a great drink for the beautiful sunny day it was. Our server was Deja and she was wonderful. She was prompt and we saw her often, which was appreciated. The check is done via QR code which was very easy. We had a slight issue with our check not pulling up, but she quickly resolved. I'm vegetarian, so admittedly not the best place to go. Was here for work. Other than salad, they have nothing vegetarian. Asked them if they could just make me a grilled cheese. They have sandwiches so they have bread and they have cheese and they have a grill, but the answer was no. Absolutely ridiculous. Gatsby made for such a fun and unexpectedly perfect Saturday afternoon brunch spot. We had a reservation and went earlier in the day, which turned out to be ideal because the space is flooded with natural light. The restaurant itself is really cute--open, airy, and surprisingly spacious. You take an elevator up to the second floor, and our table was right next to a huge window, which made the whole experience feel bright and relaxed. There's also additional seating throughout, so it never felt cramped. One of the funniest contrasts, though, is the bathroom situation. The dining area is light, bright, and open... and then you walk into the bathrooms and suddenly it's very dark, moody, and dramatic. Total vibe shift, but honestly kind of amusing and on-brand in its own way. We opted for the bottomless brunch, which runs on a two-hour timer. I appreciated how organized it was--our server gave us a small paper letting us know exactly when our last drink could be ordered. What really sets Gatsby apart from other bottomless brunches, though, is that you aren't locked into just one drink. There's a full variety of cocktails to choose from, which makes the experience feel way more elevated and less repetitive. Both the host and our server were incredibly friendly and attentive. My work colleagues and I went here for a holiday luncheon, and I was not impressed. I had a mocktail which was very flavorful, but the deviled eggs, while looked amazing, lacked in flavor. I also had the grilled chicken Caesar salad. It wasn't the worst salad that I've had, but it also was not the best. The staff was very nice and friendly, but when they brought out the water, it was room temperature and they did not ask if we wanted ice. The wait staff, was also the bartender did not bring straws for the table and everyone else didn't enjoy their food as well. Some of the members in my party said that they enjoyed brunch and dinner when they had come before, but their lunch wasn't it for me. OK, let's discuss food..it was ok, the devil eggs were lacking flavor...well presented but not overwhelming. The chicken, ohhh god...the batter, flavor, great and cooked to the bone. Located right across the street from Washington Nationals baseball stadium, my mother and I had a fantastic time at Gatsby. The food was delicious. We have Christmas brunch here and it did not disappoint. They a a multi-coursed meal with tons of food. Some of the main entrees were a bit large so we had to ask for our last course Togo, but better to have too much than too little to eat. The service was great and I thank the staff for serving us on Christmas Day. The ambience was a little confusing since the theme was supposed to be 1920s "Great Gatsby" but it was mostly giving fancy sports bar with a few 1920s motifs. I've visited Gatsby twice this month and I want to shout out my servers, Demoyea & Emily. They were both great and very accommodating. Before you go, please note that even with a reservation, your entire party must be in the building before you can be seated. Not parking, not on the way.. in the building Okay now for the food.. they have a few good items and some misses in my opinion. My first visit, I tried the deviled eggs, chicken & waffles, and cinnamon roll. Everything was just okay. The deviled eggs could've used some relish to set it off. It was smooth but it was definitely lacking in the flavor department. The chicken & waffles was cool. I love dark meat so the chicken was good. I just could've taste the sweet potato in the waffle. And the cinnamon roll was good. The cream cheese frosting is very forward in taste. The second time I got the chicken sandwich and it was good as well. You want to set it off? Add some of their hot sauce to it. It helped elevate the dish a lot. Of course we all got bottomless drinks. It's not just mimosas so that was a plus! Besides the mimosas, I loved Greta's Punch. The tequila sunset was cute but very heavy on the prickly pear. Overall, it's a cute spot! Parking is an extreme sport. There a garages and lots you can pay to park in but it's pricey. read more

We made a reservation at The Gatsby and it was clear that the place is popular. When we arrived, we were seated right across from the bathroom and immediately asked to be moved. We were then placed in a booth in front of the kitchen where servers were constantly moving in and out. It wasn't terrible but not ideal either. To add to that, the booth seemed to be a dead zone for cell service which was frustrating since I had no signal during the meal and as you can tell, I'm a Yelper so I want to see photos of the food and reviews while I'm making my decision on what to eat. Our waiter was kind but I do think the service could've been better. We had to ask multiple times for basic things like napkins, utensils, and straws. It made the service feel clunky and unprepared. We had originally planned to try the bottomless cocktail option, but by the time we got through the appetizers and the initial experience, we chose not to go for it. We ordered the spinach dip and the Reuben egg rolls to start. Both were okay but nothing stood out. For our main dishes, we ordered three different entrees and all of them lacked seasoning and flavor. At that point, we were already disappointed by the seating and the service so the underwhelming food was the final push. We made the decision to send the entrees back, pay for the appetizers, and leave. The one highlight of this experience was the general manager. She approached us with genuine care and listened to our concerns. She understood that we were visiting from out of town and went out of her way to make the situation right by comping the appetizers. Her professionalism and empathy stood out. While I don't see myself returning anytime soon, I truly appreciated how the manager handled everything. read more

This was a pretty cool spot in the navy yard neighborhood. It's a classic themed restaurant with a large bar having several tv's at the entrance and different levels with additional dining areas. I came here post work with a few friends looking to partake in their happy hour menu. It wasn't terribly packed besides us a few other customers. Our service was great the bartender was consistently available and courteous. Their happy hour menu (which runs from 12pm-6pm) offers items such as mumbo wings, smashburgers, and calamari or they offer a gatsy bites dish that allows you to sample several of the items listed above for $20. The menu also provides 3 different cocktails, 4 different wines, and several different beer options with prices ranging from $6-$8 per beverage in addition to pitcher options. I decided to order out the mumbo wings and fries. The food was brought out quickly and overall the items were solid, the fries were well-seasoned and the wings had a nice smoky flavor to them. All in all no complaints, I'll definitely be returning to try out some of the dinner menu items. read more

The apple pie however, we had to wait 30 minutes for; it was cold and disgusting, tasted like it was frozen, we both had one bite and could not eat it any further. It was a party of 12 and we are an easy going bunch, but it seems the kitchen was not prepared to take on such a large order at once since there was such an inconsistency in the quality of the dishes. Some of my comments: 1. My cousin ordered a beer and there was glass in it! The drink was taken back and replaced with a new one. 2. 2 of our guests ordered the crab cakes Benedict and both orders had overcooked poached eggs (solid yolks). 3. 2 of our guests ordered the chicken pot pie and the vegetables inside were undercooked, crunchy carrots and potatoes. 4. It took 3 tries to get dressing for my side salad and when something finally came out the meal was over. The server brought first white vinegar as a substitute for balsamic vinaigrette since that was still being made but was able to find ranch. 5. I love GATSBY. I went a few years ago for my birthday and was so excited when my friends wanted to go! The service and ambiance were amazing just like last time. We did arrive a bit late to our reservation and they did everything to still accommodate us as brunch was ending soon. They do have a dj playing 90s-2000s RnB during brunch! My friends did the bottomless drink special and mainly got the tequila sunset and mimosas. No complaints there. You get 90 minutes for the bottomless drinks. The food was great! Everything came out hot. The calamari was definitely crispy! My plate of sweet potato pancakes and fried chicken with the maple syrup was chef's kiss. A group of us came here to enjoy a beautiful Spring day in DC. For the vibe of the day (brunch then on a boat with music and friends) it worked. Bottomless drinks (off of a specific menu) and brunch will always be a move in DC. The drinks were good, no complaints there. They weren't the BEST but for $30ish all you can drink they were worth it. I liked that the menu had a good variety. When their busy service is slow...but we were still able to make even. Food wasn't special. I was excited about the Greek Omelette but it had WAY TOO much feta cheese and I like feta but it was over board and not anything special over all. The Shrimp Cobb was delicious and a good amount. I liked out the cherry tomorrows had the skin pilled off, it made a difference and I appreciated the extra step. I ordered the omelette just in case I needed more on my stomach from the bottomless drinks, but it wasn't worth it. Next time I think I will try a sandwich. Service from our waiter was good she was pleasant and worked hard. They don't split checks, we asked prior if they did and we were told yes, but that didn't end up being the case. The drinks take FOREVER to come out. I asked if we could start pre-ordering them but was told they have to see the glass empty first. Let me tell you the glasses would be empty and still waiting over 30 mins or more for the next one. The menu is not for the biggest foodie. It's pretty bland choices or shall I said just more American choices of that is the vibe you would like. Also very meat friendly. If you are vegan, vegetarian, or pescatarian there are not many options for you. Since I don't eat meat they did accommodate by giving me fruit on the side instead...but I did have to ask for them to wash them off as the waxy film was still on the fruit. All in all the group had a decent time. Make sure to make a reservation prior and show up with your group for seating. We wanted to order a meal but at the slow rate of our drinks we decided to not even order food so we only ordered fries. Ordered ranch with our fries which came out when we were already finished. After asking twice they finally brought it out and said "sorry". They continued to charge us the full 20% gratuity since we were a group above 5 ppl even though our service was not worth it. We came here for brunch last Sunday and I would definitely return. The food was good and location was nice . For those who enjoy bottomless brunches they seemed to have a great selection of mimosas, and other speciality drinks. I however went with a mocktail :) our waitress was very attentive and so was the host. I would only maybe say it does get a little loud the later in the afternoon you get but it is a bottomless atmosphere so that's expected in my opinion. We both finished our plates which is very telling for us that we enjoyed everything lol . I would say the calamari wasn't my favorite and the Deviled eggs were pretty basic and for the price point could provide more of a punch . Brunch at GATSBY, located in Navy Yard right across from the Nationals Stadium. Highly recommend a reservation if you're coming on the weekend and taking the metro/uber if possible. A Nationals game was occurring same time so you know traffic and parking was insane. Decor fits the 20s prohibition theme but isn't overly done. Lots of windows so good natural lighting. Really enjoyed the food here. Ordered Treeven's biscuits and a fruit plate to start off. For entree I got the Monte Cristo. Biscuits were homemade, fresh and just delicious. This was only my second Monte cristo but definitely the best so far! Came with a house made jam that really set it off. Great batter for the sandwich fry and Gruyère cheese. Has me craving another one so bad I'm considering an attempt at making it at home. The bottomless drink brunch lasts 90 mins. They have several options including a classic mimosa, a rum punch, tequila pineapple, and peach bourbon. The punch was best option by far but I'm a sweet drink guy so my opinion is biased. Staff was friendly, and Chef Treeven deserves all my love. Our waitresses checked in frequently and made some great recommendations. The 90 minute bottomless drinks are enforced with a 15 min last call time card. Also they only serve one drink at a time per person but were good sports about it. Probably a better approach I've seen to the bottomless brunch trend. Ensures no one overdoes it but you still get your moneys worth. All in all I will be back for another Monte Cristo.
