I was visiting DC with my son. I wanted to go have a nice day dinner with him at least one night during our vacation. I gave him three options and after we reviewed the menus, he landed on Annie's, and I am so glad he did. This restaurant was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. The staff was kind and welcoming. They were attentive, but not overbearing. The portions were quite sizable. My son's 11 years old, and we split a steak and the two sides that came with it. & let me tell you that steak was cooked perfectly! We also got the mac & cheese "bit" OMGOMGOMG! If you like mac & cheese at all, and even if you don't, you should try it here bc WOWZA! To be fair, if there's one thing I've learned about going to queer / queer friendly establishments- if there's a predominant cheese item on the menu, get it bc gays do not play with cheese. We rounded our meal out with a slice of key lime pie, cheesecake, and icecream and those didn't miss either. Grand total came out to around.. $120 I think which is a HELL of a deal for the meal. We also ordered two coca-Cola's, and I had a cocktail and a glass of wine. I will be returning. TLDR: GO HERE! OMG ITS SO GOOD!

Annie's is so lively and was decorated for Christmas. Our server was a great guy--he took his time and made us feel so welcomed. We loved hearing about the history. Our steaks were good, thin but tender. The sides were fine. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and happy we went for dinner.

This was such a wonderful dining experience! My friend and I went here for lunch and it was absolutely delicious. The Mac and cheese bites especially are fantastic. Everything is pretty much made in house (buns, ciabatta, pies, hand breaded chicken...). You know it's made with love! The server (I wish I knew his name!) was so wonderful and kind. The food came out so quick! The steak was cooked perfectly, the green beans are secretly the best, and the chicken Parmesan is so comforting. I also love how you can see the history here. The decor is so fun and vibrant. This spot is iconic not only in DuPont, but in DC. Everyone makes you feel right at home and for what you get, the pricing is pretty good! I cannot recommend this spot enough! #happypride!

Second visit to Annie's; it will become a regular dining spot when visiting Washington, DC. Tonight I ordered the Chicken Parmesan. The chicken had been prepared to perfection. The breading was not too heavy as I have had at other restaurants. The marinara sauce and cheeses were just right and the penne pasta was excellent. The portion was so large I took home what I couldn't finish and had several more meals out of it. My host had a breaded shrimp started with a couple of different sauces on the platter. We finished with a slice of the Key Lime pie. Our waiter was welcoming, cheerful and was sure that our dining needs were met. The restaurant is lively and active. It's a very fun place to visit and spend time with friends.

What can you say about Annie's other than iconic. If you want to have a good time at a good price Annie's happy hour is the magic you've been looking for. I've brought numerous people here to share in the joy that is this place and no one is ever disappointed. Strongly recommend if you are looking for some strong drinks, good service and some decent apps that you check it out. They do also have an upstairs bar with extra space if the downstairs is packed. I have only been once outside of HH and would say the food and drinks are a little pricey and maybe that's how they make up for the epic happy hours

My friend heard great things about the steak here and they did not disappoint! Be aware, Annie's is a hot spot on 17th on a Friday night, so we waited a bit to get seated. While my friend enjoyed his steak, I had the 8 oz. Bull in the Pan, a mix of marinated sirloin tips, green bell peppers, and onions. It comes with two sides and I got the buttered carrots and mashed potatoes. All of it was so delicious. I requested the sirloin tips cooked medium. It came out really flavorful, tender, and not chewy at all! I almost forgot that the dish was served with sauce on the side. I don't even want to guess how much butter they used to make the mashed potatoes and carrots so good. Carrots were also nice and tender. We got Fried Clams for the appetizer, which I think is a skip. Not quite the chunky clams I was thinking of. As previously mentioned, Annie's is busy on Fridays but quite lively. Even though the dining room was full the whole time we were there, my friend and I had a conversation where we could hear each other. The waiter took good care of us, and understood perfectly how we wanted to split the check.

Good was pretty good and so was service. I've been told the drinks are usually just the way you'd like em'...strong. My meal came with two sides, mash potatoes and pilaf rice. The sides weren't nothing special could've gone without but it's offered with the menu item. The chicken breast seemed like a cutlet which was prefects. It wasn't dried nor greasy. Very tender and enjoyable. Should you try it? Yes, you should!

We had a fun lunch here with old friends. I loved my fried chicken dinner. It came with 2 delicious boneless breasts, one of which I took home. For my sides I had French fries & buttered carrots. The fries were too thick for my taste, but the carrots were fine.

Literally run, do not walk. If Apple Bee's were transformed into a better, LGBTQIA+, local, neighborhood establishment, this would be it. It is the perfect, mom's home cooking feeling to warm you up on any day. Annie's is truly an iconic joint in the DuPont Circle neighborhood. This is by no means a fine dining joint, but the menu variety and drink selection is amazing. You truly only need one cocktail, they are so good but be warned. I honestly order pretty much the same thing each time, which is the country fried chicken salad. The staff is quirky and efficient. They are always kind, and I truly can't recommend this place enough.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I thought my tough chewy steak last time was an anomaly but after the second time it's clear: it's the norm. No way this steak is worth anything near $45; I can get better steak from my local diner. The fact it's served with a side of A1 says it all. Unfortunate due to the great atmosphere and solid service. I just can't justify paying $260 for 3 people here.

Another 5* visit. This place just doesn't miss. I hadn't tried the Chicken Parmesan yet, so I ordered that. Also ordered the Mac and Cheese Bites for an app. I also tried the Wedge Salad w side of (app) Fried Chicken Strips. It was all so, so good. The Chicken Parmesan and Penne with red sauce was very flavorful. (Fried) Chicken at Annie's is second to none. So, with the Chicken Parmesan, it was a nice twist on my favorite fried chicken option. The sauce was very, very good. Overall, great dish. Huge, so bring yoir appetite. The Mac and Cheese Bites were tasty. Who doesn't like Mac and Cheese!? Service by "Papa" who has worked here for 55 years. Wow. He was on point tonight. He had some great 5* moves. Annie's continues as one of my favorite DC restaurants. It is more than just "comfort food" options. Give them a try! Tell me what you think!

Yum! Love this James Beard-recognized restaurant, which is super queer friendly! The wait staff and hosts are absolutely lovely. The food is great too! I loved the rich sauce on the southwest chicken. The interior is so cute and colorful!

The space is gorgeous; I love all the plants, and the light brown, light blue, and white color combination for their furniture makes the space look classy and modern. The light brown leather couches are comfortable, and I love the way they circle around the tables to create a natural, cozy booth. Our food was just as beautiful as the space. The Restaurant Week menu comes with an appetizer, main, and dessert. Given how indecisive I can be (and how expansive the normal menu is), I was grateful to have my choices narrowed down a bit. I started off my meal with the octopus. The octopus was remarkably tender and not overly chewy, and had a delightful char that gave it a slightly smoky flavor. They double downed on the smokiness with their burnt chili oil, which, alongside the lemon and salsa verde, gave the dish a wonderfully balanced smoky, savory, and slightly acidic flavor. The crushed potatoes had a lovely crispy shell on the outside and served as a great base for the tender octopus. The main course was probably the easiest choice of the evening -- I'm absolutely obsessed with branzino, so the second I saw it on the Restaurant Week menu, I knew that was what I had to get. The fish is beautifully broiled, with a nice, crispy skin and super tender, flaky flesh. It's topped with a few pieces of roasted garlic and a wedge of lemon. The fresh lemon juice, as well as the lovely side salad, offered a great pop of freshness to bring the whole dish together. And finally, for our dessert, I chose the chocolate torta. This wonderful dessert is remarkably rich and decadent, with a strong dark chocolate flavor. It's topped with a lovely marsala date sauce and scoop of sheep's yogurt ice cream, but still doesn't feel overly sweet. The sheep's yogurt in the ice cream offers a bit of tanginess, and I loved the addition of the candied walnuts for a bit of crunch.
