Husband and I laughed after having brunch here, we felt duped making the trek for this "iconic" spot. Food was pretty good, esp their toasted bread. It was crispy and paired well with the tomato soup. But how does a breakfast place not have low-fat milk as an option for coffee? They only had whole or oat milk. Restrooms are up a bunch of stairs, don't come if you need ADA accessibility. Didn't have utensils or napkins, waitress was like "oops". Then she disappeared to eat and chat with another worker so we had to flag another waiter down. He got her and she's like "sorry for the wait." If you're in the area, get the grilled cheese or other breakfast items that come with bread. If you're not, don't come. We ordered a smash burger with fries, the avocado toast and the brioche French toast. All our meals were wonderful. We all tried each other's. The avocado toast was large and topped well with two perfectly poached eggs and pickled red onion and radish and tomato. Delicious and filling. Smash burger was really, really good and fresh. The star of the show was the brioche French toast! I loved it so much I wanted to come back the next day and get it for myself! Perfectly cooked so it was warm and barely crispy (not hard) and was topped with fresh strawberries and a cookie butter drizzle and whip. Noms! We will 100% be back every time we are in town. I ordered the chicken and waffles and though I felt the chicken was slightly overfried, the waffle was superb with the chives. Skip the burger with the egg- my brother said the patties were overcooked and the bread tasted stale. He did devour the fries though! My spouse was enmeshed in the everything bagel breakfast sandwich. It looked messy in the right way and decadent with both sausage and bacon. He couldn't finish it which is rare. The champagne salad on the side gave it that balance of freshness with a little citrus. The service was prompt despite the lunch rush. It was buzzy but not too loud with patrons. Solid place for food right off Dupont Circle. If you went in from the Kramer's side, you'd probably never notice it, but if you came in from the All In side, you'd see how packed this place can get. Great brunch place served like the name says, "All Day." FOOD: I love a good brunch place - defined as one that sells both breakfast and solid lunch type foods predominantly. I mean we came for dinner, but it's got great breakfast stuff along with sandwiches, salads, sides and some nice desserts. There are some great entrees too so don't get me wrong. My wife got the flatiron and eggs and loved it. I stole her breakfast potatoes though. But my lamb burger was even better. So few places sell a lamb burger and even fewer do it this good. Totally satisfied. And the bun was just right! I had to get the chocolate mousse as I'm a huge fan of the dessert and it was delicious. SERVICE: Good but not exceptional. I got the Eggs in Purgatory which was two eggs poached in spicy tomato sauce, burrata cheese, basil oil, herbs and artisan sourdough for $15. I really liked it and would go back again. The staff is really lovely and the ambiance is perfect for lunch with a friend, morning coffee, or dinner and drinks. The menu is huge and you can't go wrong with anything. The French Sodas they do are super fun. Right now they have a Pumpkin Spice soda and you can add vodka for $5, couldn't recommend it more! Also, the Chicken Caesar Wrap is one of my favs in the city. It's sort of a miracle this place is still open, still going strong, and still a welcoming and reliable place to meet a friend in Dupont Circle. But the management may need a bit of attention. For instance, only through luck did our server manage to alert us that one of the items listed as "gluten free" on the menu was actually made with an ingredient that did have gluten in it. Because of some other questions we'd asked, they caught the mistake and omitted the ingredient, but if we'd blindly relied on the menu's claim that the item was "gluten free" it could have been a problem! I typically come to enjoy a drink off their happy hour menu - great quality and always consistent. However, One issue I do have is that the food tends to be very underwhelming. Most recently, my friend and I got the Pappas Bravas and it tasted as if the entire skillet of potatoes was burnt. The service is speedy, however a bit underprepared at times. Fortunately, my friend and I were able to walk in at 12:15 PM this past Saturday for brunch. We were able to order, eat and leave within an hour. I got a sizable bowl of yogurt (a bit sweet, definitely not greek), granola, and lots of fresh berries (strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries). My favorite part were the two pieces of toast I got on the side which wasn't too soft or hard, and had the perfect slightly crispy texture that went well with the butter packet. I wasn't too hungry, so the amount of food here was perfect. My friend got the ROASTED PORK HASH that she thought was delicious. The portions were large (two poached eggs, lots of potatoes, pork and onions and topped with hollandaise) so she had a hard time finishing all the food. In addition, the servers will always tell you that they put the order incorrectly, but it's the kitchen's fault.
