Loved Kramers! A cute bookstore with a large restaurant in back and on the side. Tons of seats and a nice indoor/outdoor glassed patio area. Service was friendly and the food was excellent. Really good brunch and lunch/dinner menu with seasonal items. When we were here I saw they hosted a Cherry Blossom-themed afternoon tea and had several Cherry Blossom drink options. Our group included my husband, our babysitter, myself and our 2-year old toddler. We got her two cheesy eggs which she loved and were out very quickly (thanks for that). We ordered a smash burger with fries, the avocado toast and the brioche French toast. All our meals were wonderful. We all tried each other's. The avocado toast was large and topped well with two perfectly poached eggs and pickled red onion and radish and tomato. Delicious and filling. Smash burger was really, really good and fresh. The star of the show was the brioche French toast! I loved it so much I wanted to come back the next day and get it for myself! Perfectly cooked so it was warm and barely crispy (not hard) and was topped with fresh strawberries and a cookie butter drizzle and whip. Noms! We will 100% be back every time we are in town. I really enjoy coming here. It is one of the few places that offers a casual afternoon tea, and it is not overpriced, which is rare to find in the city. Found this place on a whim, while looking for breakfast in Dupont! To my surprise it was a two in one spot, with a bookstore in the front & restaurant out back! Absolutely adored the setup and the fact that I could browse for books and trinkets while waiting for a table! The food was really simple & really good! After a fun and long morning at the zoo, we indulged for lunch at Kramers. I ordered the chicken and waffles and though I felt the chicken was slightly overfried, the waffle was superb with the chives. Skip the burger with the egg- my brother said the patties were overcooked and the bread tasted stale. He did devour the fries though! My spouse was enmeshed in the everything bagel breakfast sandwich. It looked messy in the right way and decadent with both sausage and bacon. He couldn't finish it which is rare. The champagne salad on the side gave it that balance of freshness with a little citrus. The service was prompt despite the lunch rush. It was buzzy but not too loud with patrons. I saw a lot of customers order the french toast which was really tempting but I was sharing with my kid before his naptime so a sugar rush wasn't a good idea. Great brunch place served like the name says, "All Day." FOOD: I love a good brunch place - defined as one that sells both breakfast and solid lunch type foods predominantly. I mean we came for dinner, but it's got great breakfast stuff along with sandwiches, salads, sides and some nice desserts. There are some great entrees too so don't get me wrong. My wife got the flatiron and eggs and loved it. I stole her breakfast potatoes though. But my lamb burger was even better. So few places sell a lamb burger and even fewer do it this good. Totally satisfied. And the bun was just right! I had to get the chocolate mousse as I'm a huge fan of the dessert and it was delicious. SERVICE: Good but not exceptional. Still definitely not bad at all. Just really busy. Food was plated nicely and the portion sizes are perfect! COST: Very reasonable for what you get. I was in town for a bit to explore DC. I did choose this spot based on the fact it was very close to where we were staying. I wish I would've tried it earlier in the trip! It's a very cutesy spot - it has this restaurant,a bar, and of course the bookstore! If I lived here I would imagine this would be my go to spot. Somehow I have lived here for 10 years and didn't know this place existed? Came here for breakfast during the week and it was packed! They have a wide assortment of standard breakfast options. I got the Eggs in Purgatory which was two eggs poached in spicy tomato sauce, burrata cheese, basil oil, herbs and artisan sourdough for $15. I really liked it and would go back again. The staff is really lovely and the ambiance is perfect for lunch with a friend, morning coffee, or dinner and drinks. The menu is huge and you can't go wrong with anything. The French Sodas they do are super fun. Right now they have a Pumpkin Spice soda and you can add vodka for $5, couldn't recommend it more! Also, the Chicken Caesar Wrap is one of my favs in the city. It's sort of a miracle this place is still open, still going strong, and still a welcoming and reliable place to meet a friend in Dupont Circle. But the management may need a bit of attention. For instance, only through luck did our server manage to alert us that one of the items listed as "gluten free" on the menu was actually made with an ingredient that did have gluten in it. Because of some other questions we'd asked, they caught the mistake and omitted the ingredient, but if we'd blindly relied on the menu's claim that the item was "gluten free" it could have been a problem! I am all about anything that combines with a bookshop, and Kramers gets it very right! The menu is a celebration of mortadella and I am here for it! Though to be fair I've only had one option. The staff were great, very nonchalant and chill vibes even in the bustling of rush hour and tourists coming in and out. I typically come to enjoy a drink off their happy hour menu - great quality and always consistent. However, One issue I do have is that the food tends to be very underwhelming. Most recently, my friend and I got the Pappas Bravas and it tasted as if the entire skillet of potatoes was burnt. The service is speedy, however a bit underprepared at times. Fortunately, my friend and I were able to walk in at 12:15 PM this past Saturday for brunch. We were able to order, eat and leave within an hour. The interior is elegant and well decorated, and given the warm September weather, there was also plenty of seating outside. YOGURT PARFAIT - 11 Pretty solid deal for $11. I got a sizable bowl of yogurt (a bit sweet, definitely not greek), granola, and lots of fresh berries (strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries). My favorite part were the two pieces of toast I got on the side which wasn't too soft or hard, and had the perfect slightly crispy texture that went well with the butter packet. I wasn't too hungry, so the amount of food here was perfect. My friend got the ROASTED PORK HASH that she thought was delicious. The portions were large (two poached eggs, lots of potatoes, pork and onions and topped with hollandaise) so she had a hard time finishing all the food. Your experience of the atmosphere will depend on where you are seated, there are 3 main areas, they bar (where you can sometimes catch live music) the solarium, or outside seating. I will say the bar area has the strong smell of wet rags. As for food, if you go after 4pm you can order New Haven style pizzas. In for a lunch meeting, it was good to have made a reservation. This place is hopping. As you can read in other reviews, the back side of the famous bookstore does have a ton of traffic! My companions decided to start with the crab deviled eggs. We were in vicious agreement that these may have been some of the tastiest eggs we've ever had! For my main I went with the Mediterranean Falafel Wrap, which had large. plentiful Falafels inside a toasted pita with spicy feta spread, hummus, arugula, cucumber, pickled onions and a delectable seasoning. My colleagues went for the Chicken and Waffles and the Chicken Pot Pie. Both reported that they were equally delish. My only complaint was they seem to be short on servers, so it was a big slower than one would expect. Our server was quite nice, but you could tell they were kept busy with so many tables to attend to.
