Needed a little pick-me-up on a long day of walking around the city, this shop is a little out of the way from the monuments, but delicious anyways. We got an almond croissant - probably the best filling to an almond croissant I've had (and I've had many). We also got a Spanish latte - a mix of espresso, milk, sweetened condensed milk, and some cinnamon. It was amazing and I will be recreating it at home! The shop was super cute and had some tables/chairs to rest at. Staff was very nice and service was pretty quick even with a line.

Busy on a Saturday morning. Good selection of staple coffees/teas. Very kind and hardworking staff. Tasty pastries!

Super cute, pint-sized space in Union Market area. Friendly & efficient service. I looooved the iced Spanish latte. The breakfast Sammy's pork belly I found to be very gross (too fatty and not cooked enough,) but once I took it out the sandwich was great. Definitely want to come back and try more!

I tried Pluma as part of a Hispanic Heritage Month content series I created and it was one of my favorite places I stumbled upon! It's feels a bit bigger inside than it looks from the outside and you can see (and smell) so many items being made fresh. They have a large assortment of breads, pastries, desserts, and even lunch options. I opted for the quiche of the day which had caramelized onions, ricotta, and squash (unexpected but delicious). At $5.50 it's relatively affordable and very filling. They had some seasonal coffee options like a vanilla cheesecake cold brew - yum! I decided on the Spanish latte which is made with a sweetened condensed milk syrup and cinnamon. It's easily one of my favorite lattes in DC. This place is perfect for a quick coffee run or a coffee date with your partner or friends!

My friend and I stopped by Pluma before we grabbed dinner in the Union Market area last Saturday afternoon! The interior is minimal and spacious. The seating is mainly a long and wide table (good for co-working) that can fit 10+ people. It is a bit cold in there, but other than that, it was a nice spot to chill at for a couple hours. COLD BREW - 5.50 I don't remember the cold brew much, so it was probably average. It went well with the pastry I got, though. CHOCOLATE PISTACHIO CROISSANT - 6.75 This is one of their most popular pastries. The chocolate croissant was dusted with a layer of confetti sugar, and it contained a lightly whipped pistachio cream that wasn't too sweet. Overall, a more unique croissant, but if you're health conscious, I'm not sure if I'd recommend. Pluma is on the pricier side, but they're on the inKind app! So if you have inKind, the amount you end up paying is more reasonable.

This is a cute little cafe. I came here to get a chai latte but unfortunately they were out. I decided on the cheesecake because it looked good - and it tasted just as good as it looked! It was creamy and very decadent, but crustless. I very much enjoyed it. The cashier was also incredibly friendly and kindly answered all the questions I had about some of the pastries. Hopefully when I return there is some chai available!

While there's pastry and baked goods galore, the Almond Croissant hit the spot! The croissant had a crispy shell with sweet frangipane almond custard cream. Excited to come back for more croissants!

I've had Pluma croissants at work plenty of times and they are buttery flaky little pillows of deliciousness. Today I stopped in with a friend who loves bakeries and here's what I thought. - seems like a good spot to get work done if you work from home. It smells delicious in here and there's a long table with lots of space. A couple people were on their laptop so I'm assuming there's free WiFi. - service was fine, the associate was helpful and efficient. - you MUST try to this apple croissant pastry with caramel on it. It was a great pairing of sweet and salty. It was $6 - not too big of a fan of their chai, I'd go somewhere else Check it out when in the union market area and need a treat

My husband and I usually do a "bakery tour" when we come to D.C. Pluma was on our list this last weekend and didn't disappoint!! Everything was absolutely amazing. The service was incredibly friendly, the atmosphere was inviting and it was lovely to watch the world go by as we ate our pastries and drank our coffee. We each got the "Sammy OG"; all I can say is WOW. That pork belly is a show-stopper. We also got the almond croissant, the chocolate pistachio croissant and a cappuccino, a Spanish coffee and a white mocha. Truly everything was delicious. We will for sure be back!

Stopped by Pluma for a snack. Some close friends said this place was the best bakery in the city so I had to try. Best almond Croissant I've had. Hospitality was amazing.

I've been to Pluma a few times now and I was not disappointed each time! I love the location to pick up a nice coffee and treat before strolling along the numerous shops in the union market area. This past time we got a chocolate pistachio croissant and parmesan, ricotta, and potato tart. Both are absolutely delicious. I loved the nutty flavor of the pistachio and the flakiness of the pastries. I would love to go again!

This cafe left me feeling a little blue(bird). I stopped in here for a midday coffee and left with a chai instead... so here's the tea: There is some indoor seating and minimal but cute decor. They had a ton of intriguing looking pastries (that cost a pretty penny but maybe that's just DC for ya). The baristas were very nice, but I ordered a ice latte and after paying was notified they didn't have any milk. So I changed my order to a matcha latte. I went to the restroom and came back to my drink not ready and to find out they were out of matcha too. I finally settled on a chai latte which they did make quickly. It was just ok, a little sweet and not a lot of spices. Given the number of coffee shop options in this area I don't think I'd go back given my experience, but I'm sure this is a unique one. However, I still can't recommend it given the number of drink changes.

That's when I stumbled onto Sharbat. It's a rather quaint and cute Azerbaijani bakery and as I was window shopping all the cakes and baklavas, someone across the counter says "let me know if you have any questions" and I look up to see an angelic beautiful woman (this does not affect my rating haha) but I guess I wasn't expecting to see that. Anyway, she went through explaining various pastries and had a couple Turkish ones as well. I went with a pistachio baklava and a slice of honey cake. Honestly, I wanted to try all the cakes and even though they say honey cake is their most popular, there were a few that looked more appetizing. However, slightly convinced by the one other customer there eating her slice of honey cake, I decided to try it. I've only had honey cake once before so I won't act like I know what's best but that time the layers were thinner which I prefer but I like how it wasn't overly sweet despite it being honey forward. The baklava was one of the best, but I probably say that about most baklavas.

But still I shunned the baklava, my friends' favorite but at the very top of my list of pastries I could do without. I find it papery and drenched in syrup - way too sweet! But now I suggest that Sharbat is a bakery for people who think they don't like baklava. My friends finally persuaded me to try some, and oh man is it good. It's nothing like the baklava I know. Perhaps because it is made Azerbaijani style - at the eastern end of Turkish culinary reach. It is more cakey and less sweet. But still plenty sweet, with a nice nutty crunch. I don't know whether to kiss or curse my friends for turning me on to this, but now I know. And now so do you.

To say, I am disappointed in my experience here is an understatement. I don't normally write review, however, I want to warn others before they waste their money. I went with a friend to support local businesses. We were excited because the reviews were pretty solid. However, once we ordered, we were greatly disappointed. I ordered a Matcha Latte and the servers simply poured milk into a dirty worn out cafeteria plastic cup and dumped matcha powder in it without stirring or blending or adding any flavor. The picture shown below is after I mixed the powder into the milk more. My friend ordered a caramel frappe (not pictured) and the drink lacked caramel. It was simply blended milk and ice. The making of our drinks did not reflect a "cafe" style nor experience. Moreover, the food was below lackluster. The Northern Capital sandwich looked amazing in theory; however, I received one small piece of chicken on a large hoagie roll drenched in mayo with 3 pieces of spinach and a slice of avocado. In my opinion, the portions definitely did not match the price of the sandwich. Furthermore, my friend ordered the Steak & Cheese which came without cheese. After this, my friend and I did not drink the Latte and Frappe. We ate a small portion of the sandwiches to give the restaurant a fair chance, but we were beyond disgusted with the drinks. Therefore, we asked for a refund or the server to re-make them. To which the server laughed in our face with a nasty attitude replying, "Absolutely not!" I absolutely hate to leave a 1-star review on a local restaurant, but I could not go on without warning others to avoid the "cafe" portion of this place if you value your money. Fortunately, we went to a local restaurant nearby afterward to cleanse our palette and thoroughly enjoyed the service and food. More importantly, the prices were comparable to this place but they provided much larger portions and great service.

No Thank you Apple…read morepie- dry, gooey and overly sweet filling that did not look hand made. The crumble top was terribly underdone with dry oats and no texture whatsoever to help save the filling at all. Crust was doughy and under cooked. Warming it would not have even helped at all. Brownie pie- I was so disappointed. I do not usually go for brownies, but the way the top of the pie looked pretty well baked I went for it super excitedly on first glance. Instant regret on the first bite. All I tasted was an overwhelming sweetness overload and then a shock of salt instead of balance. The worst part was, the center of the pie was all goop and the caramel infused into it almost made it worse. I hated the texture and I am not usually a texture person. I was super disappointed. I ate three bites, and it went to the trash. I was expecting at least a soft chewy brownie baked into pie crust, similar to a brownie cookie. Big let down. The pumpkin pie- had a weird sour after taste to it like the wrong type of milk was used when baking it. I wanted to love this one so badly, but got half way done eating it and just could not. This was very unfortunate, because the filling structure was perfect, but the filling itself was bland and sour. The crust was once again doughy and undercooked. No brown golden crust in sight. The pies were given to the 909 apartments on 11/25/25 as a way to celebrate Pie day. I really appreciate the small business effort. I love supporting them too. Honestly though, I am so glad those pie slices were free, because unfortunately, I would not waste my money buying from them unless they make some huge changes. All the crusts were undercooked and doughy, and I did not finish any of the pies entirely. I would add pictures but I was so disappointed, I did not bother taking any, and I am a foodie, so I usually take pictures of all my food dishes. Please I mean no harm. I am just giving my honest constructive feedback. I will see if I can add a google review with pictures.
