Located at Adams Morgan, Sharbat Bakery and Cafe is a great place for Azerbaijani pastries, cakes, and beverages. Walked in here on a Saturday afternoon. It was not busy at that time; service was quick. The interior was cute, classy, and clean. The owner was super friendly. The honey cake was good. The pistachio roll is my favorite. Very delicious, soft, fluffy, not the typical pistachio treat and it had a fruity hint. Would definitely come back!

Sharbat has been the place, still is the place! Amazing pastries, cute exterior and interior, great people. I came by for baklava and was delighted to find not one, not two, but three different varieties available! They also had kunafa, but I didn't have time to wait for it to be prepared. Oh well, guess I'll just have to come back again!

The food was great but slightly overpriced (normal for dc). I liked the round pastry and my friend liked one with feta. BUT my friend did find a huge bug in her tea at the end and that was disgusting. The staff was also nonchalant at best (or impolite). Hope they can improve service and cleanliness.

The pastry chef here is a true master. The employees are kind and friendly. The atmosphere is clean and quaint, on the small side but not cramped. But let's talk about the food: The flavors and textures of the pastries are beyond what you'd expect from a humble neighborhood cafe, even one that specializes in fancy pastries. This is my second visit and this time I ordered the 1. Pistachio cake - get it. 2. Baku Pakhlava - Bliss. 3. Meringue Pakhlava - Delicious. The pistachio cream and real raspberry filling in the cake was remarkably generous and teeming with not overly sugared flavor. I'm a HUGE pistachio fan but I"m routinely disappointed by pistacchio flavored desserts because they're either too sugary or the pistacchio flavor is just too subtle. This is the best pistachio flavored dessert I've had in years. And the big juicy raspberries provided a great little tangy contrast to the mildly sweet- savory - nutty - RICH & creamy filling I've had bakklava dozens of times in several flavors. They're usually ok or good. But this Baku Pakhlava was such a blissful blend of savory buttery flavors and honey that I could not stop eating until it was gone. I was going to take it home after sampling it, but nope. It was just a flood of perfectly balanced pastry perfection. So comforting and rich, with just completely satisfying 'al dente' texture. The meringue one was yummy, I liked the /.... date?... filling. It didn't wow my mouth like the other two, but it's still a delicious well-above average pastry. Less sweet and a bit lighter, pastry-doughier consistency than the .

Great cafe with amazing hospitality!! I love the vibrant & upbeat ambience of this cafe w their in-house DJ & colorful decor. As someone who has never tried Azerbaijani food before, I was super excited to try everything. Here's what I tried: - Black Tea: so fragrant & great palate cleanser. Did you know the shape of the glass is designed so that the top cools faster while the bottom still stays warm?? - Pistachio cake: Second to the honey cake, this one is a popular crowd favorite. It was super spongy and fluffy although I didn't taste a ton of pistachio flavor. - Honey cake: SO good. The most popular dessert and I can see why-each layer was so thin and lathered w a delish honey cream filling. - Sharkabura: 1 of the 3 desserts served on the plate; this handmade intricate pastry is filled with cardamom, hazelnut & more cozy spices! - Baku Phaklava: 1 of the 3 desserts served on the plate; this is traditional Azerbaijani style phaklava and as someone who doesn't usually like pakhlava, this was delish. Perfectly seasoned, and most importantly, not too sweet - Kata: 1 of the 3 desserts served on the plate; iconic for its swirl look, this dessert reminded me of "little hearts" cookies (if all my Indians know what I'm talking about) @britannia.industries - Goghal: one of my favorites of the day. This is a spice filled pastry- it has poppyseed, cumin, anise, black pepper & more spices! A very satiating bite. - Chicken Borek: Classic pastry filled with lots of chicken! Would've just preferred some more veggies inside. - Homestyle tomato & egg omelet: Ok wow I did not know eggs could be this flavorful! It was also served with some delish fluffy bread. Highly recommended if you're going for brunch.

Absolutely wonderful café and bakery located in the heart of Adams Morgan! This lovely little hole-in-the-wall shop may look unassuming from the outside, but it is home to some of the best baked goodies in DC. I've dropped by several times for dessert, and I've been super impressed by their quality and consistency -- the baklava is definitely the star of the show, and they have a ton of variety. Whether you want to keep it classic with their traditional batu baklava or pistachio baklava, or if you want a sweet fusion twist with their nutella baklava, each dessert is perfectly flaky, nutty, and all-around delicious. Their batu baklava has the perfect level of sweetness and goes wonderfully with a latte or americano; the nutella baklava is a smidge too sweet for my taste, but it's great if you're looking for something with a bit more sugar. Beyond baklava, they have a wide selection of other traditional Azerbaijani desserts, including cakes, cookies, and a bunch of other sweet or savory pastries. The owner is the sweetest woman I've ever met and more than willing to chat through the menu if you have any questions. For their drinks, they serve La Colombe coffee, so you really can't go too wrong with anything. I wasn't the biggest fan of their matcha (it tasted a little more like culinary-grade matcha vs. ceremonial), but it was still tasty and fulfilled my caffeine craving. The shop is super cute and has a good amount of seating, including these really cute benches with an eclectic assortment of colorful pillows. It is super cozy and has a ton of natural light from the large storefront windows, making it perfect for reading, working, or yapping your afternoon away. I also love that they're open pretty late (8 PM on most days).

Unfortunately didn't live up to the hype for me. Got there right as they opened at 10am but the lights weren't on, waited a couple minutes and someone else went in so I followed...they just hadn't turned the lights on. Pastries were all still wrapped in Saran Wrap without labels. I tried asking what they were but woman at the register just said "get that one!" And I figured okay she probably knows what's up...I believe this was the Chicken Bourek(?). It cost $8, which feels like a lot for a pretty small pastry. On top of that, the inside was super doughy. Disappointing experience but I know everyone has off days so maybe this was just an anomaly, which is why I'm giving it three stars instead of one or two.

Yum! A delicious bakery in Adams Morgan with some pastries that are to die for! Like many reviewers have said before, the honey cake is a thing of beauty. Sweet but not too sweet, light and dense simultaneously... it was outrageous! The pistachio cake, tiramisu, and caramel cake all were packed to the brim with great flavor. The savory pastries rocked too!

To me it felt like this was kind of in the shadow of the Ukrainian restaurant next door, but the spread of cakes and pastries at this Azerbaijani place looked quite worthwhile. So much, in fact, that I was persuaded to not get the chocolate cake but instead to try a caramel icing cake with walnuts, which was quite impressive and very filling. I was a little bit surprised they only had plastic utensils, and the tables weren't really clean, but the food itself would be worth sampling again.

Had a chocolate craving and had heard good things about Sharbat so I decided to walk to get some chocolate goodies. (If you walk to a bakery you can eat as much as you want, that's the rule). Ok so 5pm was probably a little too late to get there to try everything because the only chocolate item left was a Nutella Baklava. (They had plenty of other cakes and sweets though) But this baklava.... This Lebanese girl is in love. It took all of my willpower not to eat both and to save one for a friend. They also had a bunch of super delicious looking cakes. My goal is to go back early to try more.

The standout of the morning was the breakfast side potatoes--crispy, seasoned perfectly, and easily something I'd come back for. The breadbasket came with three pastries, which felt a bit smaller than expected, but the almond croissant more than made up for it. On the heartier side, the chicken and waffles were extremely filling thanks to the dense waffles, so definitely a dish to tackle with an appetite. One of the biggest surprises was the brunch salad with salmon, which ended up being one of the best salads I've had in a long time--fresh, balanced, and satisfying. The breakfast sandwich was another highlight: so good that it's now the new standard I'll compare all other breakfast sandwiches to. The smoked salmon bagel was also a fun experience, served deconstructed so you can build each bite exactly how you like it. Not everything was a hit--the French toast wasn't my favorite--but the overall meal was strong enough that it barely detracted from the experience. Brunch offers a few additions beyond the regular breakfast menu, but overall it's very similar to their standard breakfast, just with a couple of extra options. It tends to get full on the weekends to make a reservation. Bottom line: Penbrook is a beautiful hotel restaurant that punches above its weight--excellent service, memorable dishes, and several items worth returning for.

Maybe they were all reserved? Not sure. We were greeted by the staffs and shown to the table. Smooth and fast. All the menu looked tempting so had hard time choosing which one to go with. Went with meatloaf and miso salmon. Meatloaf was really good! Flavorful with tender/juicy meat combined with onions, bell peppers etc. Miso salmon was also good! Okra and broccoli were adding more taste to the dish itself. No complaints at all! The prices were on the higher side though. Menu says each are $28. However, there was mandatory service charge of 20% and tax was calculated after the service charge, which end up being approximately $40 per menu item we got - miso salmon and meatloaf. Wish the menu price would just include service charges so prices would not be misleading with all the charges after. Not sure if this is because of World Cup 2026, but too bad they had to hit their customers with extra fees after enjoying the meals which could have ended happily rather than leaving a bad taste in the mouth.

We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.
