Delicious cookies! We love stopping by Levain Bakery whenever we're in NYC, so it was such a fun surprise to see a location here in Georgetown. Even though it was pretty busy on a Saturday evening, the staff was super friendly and everything moved quickly. Easy in and out, and the cookies were just as good as we remembered!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I love this spot! It's cozy with minimal seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's quite popular so there's usually a line. However it is always worth it. My cookie was toasty to perfection-- the chocolate just oozes in your mouth! [[HIGHLIGHT]]My only qualm was that someone sat and brought their 4 dogs, this is out of Levain's control but it had the store smelling like wet dog... but you can take your cookie and eat it outside so no worries![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Had to splurge and get the Levain Cookie Tin to take back home to share!

I've heard of the infamous "Levain cookies" on baking blogs for a while but wow - so delicious to actually experience them! These cookies are thick, but have something for everyone: crispy on the outside, soft and gooey in the middle. And they are massive, so I can understand the price. Not a regular occurrence, but a fun splurge for a special celebration or a treat! And honestly the tin box option is so cute for a gift or keepsake. The girl who took my order was super helpful and kind. Great experience!

I wanted to check out the yala and Levain collaboration. I love Yala greek ice-cream, they are my favorite ice cream spots in Georgetown. I was happy Levain collaborated with them! I got the levain la mode with choice of any cookie with vanilla ice cream. I got a warm chocolate chip walnut cookie with it and I got the dark chocolate mini ice-cream sandwich. I enjoyed everything and ill definitely be back! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was great and the ambiance great as always.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Levain cookies are dense enough to be cakey but still manage to retain a soft, buttery texture. I'll give them credit for texture, but for me, the flavor is overshadowed by the excessive sweetness. The notes of butter, vanilla, and roasted walnut would come through much more clearly with a milder level of sugar.

SO GOOD. First time I had levain was in New York and I loved it so when I saw there was one in Georgetown I knew I had to go. Their cookies are big and the texture is perfect (I'm a sucker for sweet treats). The outside is crispy and the inside is chewy, would definitley recommend eating it while it's still warm. There can sometimes be a long line but when I went a bit after lunch, there were 2-3 people in front of me and the cashiers work fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's places to sit inside the bakery, though limited.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've had the regular chocolate chip cookie before too and it was delicious. If you're a big chocolate person, I would recommend the dark chocolate chip. I almost blacked out and ate the whole cookie!

5 stars for franchise consistency ! no matter what city im in levain is consistently GOOD! I got my go to cookie the dark choc x pb and i tried the Cherry Black Iced tea and it was good! I love when brands maintain a standard of quality across locations ! and to kick off spring with purchase of a cherry iced tea and a cookie or a scone u get a free mini cherry blossom tote while supplies last! and they still have a few! [[HIGHLIGHT]]also service was fast and friendly and the store was clean ![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] would definitely come back!

This place is always awesome. My favorite cookie of all time. I am the "Cookie Monster". Been to a few of the locations and I can say, their consistency is something to be admired. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Always clean, always awesome staff, always amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

OK, I know it's a session indicator to willingly pay for a 7 dollar cookie, BUT I DON'T CARE!?! I'm literally a broke college student making button or nothing and I would spend my hard earned pennies on this cookie every day if I could. Look, I'm literally a political science major learning about how TikTok trends and American capitalism are the biggest evil (I can go on rant about how Crumbl cookie is terrible for small businesses).... But I fear I fallen for Levain bakery.... THESE COOKIES ARE SO GOOD BRO. THEY'RE RICH AND GOOEY AND THEY HAVE THE PERFECT AMOUNT OF CRUNCH ON THE OUTSIDE BUT THAT PERFECT BITE IS SO MELTING AND I CAN'T DESCRIBE IT. I'VE NEVER HAD SUCH A THICK COOKIE BEFORE. do yourself a favor and try the coconut caramel chocolate chip. That thing will change your life...

I had a great experience at the Back Bay Boston location, but unfortunately not at the Georgetown one. I stopped by last week for a quick bite, and the cookie was hard and not gooey like it's supposed to be. Such a bummer

I absolutely love Levain and if you love chunky cookies, you will too!! We've had every cookie on the menu and they've all been spectacular. My favorite have been the lemon one they had during spring and the Rocky Road they have during summer. They're chunky, crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside, without feeling undercooked. Also, adding the ice cream to them goes really well! ( my kid had that, but unfortunately I don't have a picture of it. It was great. They're moist and chewy, I love them. Unlike other cookies, these actually are flavorful, not just loaded with sugar. Also noteworthy, the quality is great regardless of where you get them. We've had them in NYC and in Georgetown and they've been great in both places. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop is really clean and the staff is friendly and helpful if your unsure of what to get.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I highly recommend this cookie shop!

this is a very solid cookie. levain is a popular chocolate chip cookie chain, and my favorite is their chocolate chip walnut cookie. it's a large cookie, made to share, and served warm with dark chocolate and walnuts. it has a really interesting texture profile. honestly, i would totally recommend trying it if you get the chance. for me, it is a bit on the heavier and more filling side for a cookie. i usually prefer smaller, soft-baked cookies, but these are definitely a crowd favorite. levain has a strong name and a lot of recognition, and you can really see why. it's great to get a bunch of these cookies to share with a group. [[HIGHLIGHT]]the locations can be on the busier side, but the taste of the cookies definitely makes up for it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] since they're in many major cities, i would absolutely recommend trying them if you have the opportunity.

Lines were out the door, the cherry blossom windows & cherry treats were difficult to miss. I didn't realize they were founded in 1995 in NYC & right now all over New York, Long Island, Westchester, Boston, Chicago, Maryland and here in Georgetown. We waited on line for :15 trying to choose between the cookies. The cookies, loaves of cake, breads, coffees and teas sounded special. I chose a coconut caramel chocolate chip cookie and my husband a chocolate chocolate chip cookie. Both cookies were huge, warm and the chips just melted in our mouths. The cookies were so large we had these instead of dinner.

A box of goodness. Eight tasty cookies including two chip chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, chocolate, peanut butter, chocolate chip walnut!

Levain Bakery - Georgetown, D.C Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Levain Bakery - Georgetown, D.C

Does anyone know when they'll be bringing back their café con leche cookie?

Their website says a gift box of a 4-pack of cookies is $27. Is that really just 4 cookies for $27?…

Neil, I believe I paid around $4.40 with tax for ONE cookie at their store so needless to say they're pretty pricey. Their cookies are quite chunky though. However, not really sure why a 4-pack would cost more per cookie than one at the store.

Unfortunately, the location in DC has permanently closed and we were still very much in the mood for some pastries... my cousin who is French has previously sang the praises of this Lil French pastry shop, so of course I had to give it a try. I am so happy that I did because I truly believe that I have stumbled upon my new favorite pastry shop in the area! Upon walking in the smell of croissants and almonds and sweet, sweet delicacies filled my nostrils. I basically became the human version of Remy from ratatouille inhaling a delicious bouillabaisse simmering on the stove top for hours....seeing colors and flavors so bright and intoxicating I simply had to have it I walked in and my eyes were instantly attracted to so many delicious options from classics like Palmiers and Napoleons to some unique flavor combos I've never tried before combined like raspberry and pistachio. Of course, I decided to grab a little bit of everything to make an accurate assessment as a YELP Elite should!! My favorite hands-down was the Berry Millefuille. The way the pastry crumbled in my mouth with every bite, combined with the tart, fresh raspberries, and thick flavorful custard.... Was worth every penny. Honorable mentions go to the peach rosemary tart, which was so unique with the added botanical of rosemary with some fresh sweet peach slices on top and a very crunchy tart base. We all enjoyed everything we purchased! I also ordered one of their seasonal specialties, the rosemary latte with skim milk and iced. The flavors were so uniquely crafted to where you could taste everything but everything combined together for the perfect sip. The ladies who greeted us at the cash register were so patient, so kind, and so understanding of my excitement and difficulty deciding and they even helped me add on a little chocolate happy birthday rectangle to the pastry I purchased for my husband! Without a doubt, this is only the first of the many times I will visit the establishment. It was so authentic, so delicious and passed all the vibe checks even from the French side of the family. I was told I have to return when they first open to have a fresh croissant and a fresh baguette that is on par with what you would have in Paris. Even the items in the fridge were made in France and were delicious fruit nectars that were very unique- we purchased a passionfruit nectar that didn't even make it past the doors before we had completely inhaled it and purchased a lychee nectar for later. I am so excited to have learned about this establishment and believe me when I say you must run, not walk, to experience it for yourself. Note- The dine in area inside the establishment is limited to a couple small tables. Definitely not equipped for large parties and a couple outdoor seatings right outside.

The folks on this side were very sweet and helpful. When we went over to "Wired" to get our coffees, there were a bunch of *other* treats over there, which nobody told us about, so that was annoying because then we would have ordered way fewer items. So we got a couple more goodies here as well as our iced coffees and a hot cocoa for our kiddo. The folks on this side were unfriendly and uninterested in customer service ("Just checking in on our quiche...?";"Oh, we totally forgot. We'll put it in now."). We weren't impressed with most of our items though some were better than others. Unsurprisingly, the cupcakes were the best; we got the nutella and "unicorn" ones, and both were moist with excellent frostings. We especially appreciated the filling in the nutella. The chocolate chip cookie was terrible--our daughter, a cookie fiend, refused to have another bite of it. We liked the novelty of the "orange dream" shortcake. As for the other stuff, the spicy sausage biscuit was not spicy at all and had the consistency of rubber. The quiche that finally came out was too oily, but we all liked the decadent cinnamon roll. Bit of a mixed bag all around, so we're settling on three stars. We ourselves won't be back, but others might have a better experience on a different day.

The interior is small but cozy- there's also some seats/tables outside. I ordered the savory scone and a chocolate croissant and they were both delicious. The chocolate in the middle was the perfect amount and wasn't too sweet either. For drinks, their syrups are also made in the house too! I had absolutely no plans on buying or eating cake that day, but as a cake lover stuff happens. It was such a cute building the pastries had to be everything! It turned out to be the perfect stop. 1. The looks The building itself is so cute on the outside, and being a fan of the color pink, it instantly caught my attention. Inside, it feels less like a fast, high volume bakery and more like an intimate cake boutique. It gives small town where the owners know you by your first name. You can feel that real love was put into the space and the baking. Tasted like every ingredient was hand mixed, every cake hand frosted, and every cookie carefully hand scooped. They even served my slice of coconut cake on a real plate, which was such a cute, bourgeois touch that I loved. 2. Service The hospitality here is top-notch. On my first visit, yes you heard me! Lol! The gentleman Eric who rang me up was incredibly knowledgeable about all the different cookie and cake flavors. I ended up returning the very next day, and although he wasn't there, the other two staff members working which included Mikaela were absolutely delightful and so kind. The young lady told me her daughter loves the carrot cake as well and Mikaela said they started working there because they loved the patties so much! 3. The Cakes -Coconut Cake: This slice was so delicious, fluffy, and airy that it instantly reminded me of being a kid at holiday family meals with a fresh coconut cake on the table. -Carrot Cake: It was everything you want a carrot cake to be. It was nice and dense yet soft, with a pleasant texture from the added fruits. Definitely noticed pineapple bits! The cream cheese frosting wasn't overly thick and was so good you could eat it completely by itself. -Strawberry Cupcakes: I stole a small bite of my son's. unfortunately, this one was my least favorite. The frosting had a little chemical taste to it but it was a super cute cupcake. To answer your question, will I return? Absolutely! If you are in the DC area or planning a trip there soon, check this spot out. It truly feels like a mom and pop or pop and pop boutique. Not a bakery but a BOUTIQUE! Check them out! Tell them Anisha from Milwaukee sent you! (Not that they'd remember it just sounds cute!)

Instead of leaving the logistics to a third-party organizer, Caspian Crust hosts the experience themselves, and it works beautifully. Everyone shares one long Sultan Breakfast table, making it easy to meet new people over incredible food. If you see one of these events, book it. It's absolutely worth it. The Sultan Breakfast was outstanding and there was so much food. The value for the price is incredible. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and I especially appreciated that many of the traditional meat dishes use beef rather than pork. As someone who doesn't eat pork, that made it easy to enjoy nearly everything on the table. One of the unexpected highlights was learning more about the culture. Another guest at our table was from Türkiye, and she shared that breakfast is traditionally enjoyed before coffee. Once I knew that, it completely reset my expectations. Instead of wondering where the coffee was, I got to enjoy an amazing, leisurely breakfast first. There was a little confusion at the end about whether coffee was included with our event, but the staff quickly sorted it out, and we finished with Turkish coffee and a piece of Turkish delight. It ended up being the perfect ending to the meal. I also learned that the owners have family roots in Azerbaijan, which makes a lot of sense once you see the menu. While the restaurant describes itself as Mediterranean, the flavors and breakfast traditions are distinctly Turkish and Azerbaijani, and it is wonderfully authentic.

We tried all of the available Turkish savory boreks and our favorite was the spinach and feta. The best thing we had was the chocolate eclair- so tasty! Unfortunately, service wasn't great and of the two speciality coffees we ordered, one was extremely bitter and the other was extremely sweet. For the price and the fact that our party was only one of 3 there, I wish there was more attention paid to our drinks/general check-ins with our table. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other desserts though!

All the pastry was delightfully flaky and appropriately filled. Pistachio croissant was dancing on the edge of being a bit too sweet but went very well with my latte. Latte and cappuccino were nothing to write home about, potentially underextracted as there wasn't too much flavor coming through. Totally inoffensive and wouldn't hesitate to get another espresso drink if we were grabbing pastries again. Nice quaint limited outdoor seating. Had a nice chat while we demolished our goods right out front. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff that knows how to move the line quickly!

We were lucky enough to snag some goodies and got a bit of everything, we just weren't patient enough to wait to photograph everything. We did the Za'atar Gruyère Croissant, chocolate croissant, the cheese biscuit item they had (don't remember exact name) and the sfogliatelle. I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. My friend got a coffee and also enjoyed that! This is the perfect place to stop by for a treat if you make it in time!
