Banana Pudding & Salted Carmel Ice Cream

Jubilee has very good banana pudding ice cream! If you enjoy banana flavor, then definitely get this ice cream when in Georgetown! Overall the shop was tiny but cute inside. Service was good for one person working there during a rush.

Mango sticky rice single scoop sign

This place is soo delicious. The $3 single scoop sign (for Georgetown students) caught my eye, so a friend I gave it a try. The mango sticky rice flavor is to die for, and they had a good selection of unique spring flavors. I'd definitely pay the $6.50 for a scoop again when I'm back in Gtown. The lady working the counter was super friendly as well, and the shop is clean and modern. I'd definitely recommend checking Jubilee out!

The staff here is really nice, and it's a very cute location, but every single time I go to Ice Cream Jubilee in DC (here or in Navy Yard) I get served freezer burnt ice cream. Their flavors can be interesting (especially the seasonal ones like red bean, which I really enjoy), but it's so hard to get over the iciness and unpleasant texture. I like that they're a local spot and creative, but I wish the quality was there alongside the concept. Great portions, great service, great variety of flavors; just not very well-made ice cream.

The staff was super friendly with our large group and super accommodating with all of the samples we wanted to try. However, some of those flavors that were on the board, were not available so that was a little bit of a bummer. When we first walked in with our large group, they said it was BOGO (buy one get one free, single or a double scoop). Since we had a large group, we were excited and thought we would be getting a great deal. Once everyone got their scoops, we were ready to check out, but they were only able to apply one discount to our entire transaction (of about 10 ice creams) so we still basically paid full price. The cashier seemed a little bit flustered on what was happening. The ice cream wasn't anything crazy it was basic and great on a very hot day. It's super conveniently located in Georgetown so it is a great place to stop by while you're shopping or after. There isn't any seating so make sure you eat quick because it melts fast!

This was the last food spot we visited before heading to the airport. We were allowed 2-3 samples and I asked if I could do two flavors and they said no, so I went with the Marionberry. After halfway through my scoop, it started getting too sweet. I saw other family members getting different flavors, so it was strange that I could only get one.

Super great ice cream place! The worker who helped us was super nice and recommend our ice cream combos. Flavor was super great too. We went before it got busy so it was quick and easy. Our total for what was pictured was $20 so be mindful of price but a super solid ice cream place to enjoy

This is probably the main ice cream place in Georgetown. The place itself is small, it's mostly a grab and go. There is limited seating outside because it's usually constantly busy. When we first went inside, there was barely anyone there then when it was time for us to pay, it suddenly became packed. The employee was very friendly. I tried a couple samples and ultimately went with 3 scoops. I was content with the flavors I got. Price is slightly expensive but since there's no real competition in the area, it's nothing you can really do. If you're visiting Georgetown, I would recommend you give it a try. Quality is not terrible and inedible.

Blueberry Crisp

Came here around noon on a Sunday right when it opened. Parking can be a bit tough around this area but we managed to find street parking a few blocks down in the residential area. This spot is located on a busy strip of businesses in Georgetown so lots of foot traffic especially on the weekend. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long because we were probably the first customers of the day. I decided to get one of the seasonal flavors - the blueberry crisp. Super delicious flavor of vanilla/blueberry with hints of cinnamon! The texture was just right too, not having to worry about eating it super fast in the heat was convenient. I would definitely come back to try more of the seasonal flavors.

Great non-dairy banana soft serve, but not worth $7
Vijay N.

The concept of the banana, soft, serve nondairy ice cream is just genius! You get all of the texture you might expect, along with excellent flavor companions like chocolate and peanut butter that go perfectly with banana in a very refreshing and somewhat healthier package. However, as others have commented, the pricing for these ice cream cones seems exorbitant! If you look at the size of the swirl and compare it to the seven dollar price tag, it somehow does not seem commensurate. the service was very friendly and the storefront is small and cute. For those who are seeking a nice nondairy treat, I would definitely recommend this shop! However, I hope that the owners and management takes some of the feedback, and either adjust the pricing or the portions to bring them into better alignment.

I was very excited to try Ice Cream Jubilee after the warm weather finally started to hit. I'm a big ice cream fan, and some of these flavors really rocked! I especially liked the s'mores. The service was a little strange--maybe this was their first busy weekend of the year, but the cashier taking our order seemed exasperated. We were happy to wait and didn't want to cause any problems of course! The food was good but not quite what I had wanted. I ordered the five flavor flight and was instead served only four flavors that were already preselected. I was a little bummed, but since the cashier seemed so exasperated, I didn't want to add to his workload or make him angry. For the price, I don't think I would necessarily come back because of the experience.

Toasted S'mores seasonal flavor
Calder S.

I visited last week and got the Toasted S'mores seasonal flavor. The ice cream was icy tasting, like it had freezer burn. It also didn't capture the flavor of s'mores -- there was too much graham cracker and not enough chocolate. In theory, I give Ice Cream Jubilee credit for getting a lot of graham cracker in the ice cream -- which is where a lot of s'mores ice creams struggle -- but they didn't balance out the flavors correctly. This is obvious from the photo -- you can see barely any chocolate -- and is also obvious from tasting, so this flavor shouldn't have made it past quality control. For the prices they charge, both mistakes are inexcusable. I've also had Ice Cream Jubilee a few other times at both the 14th St and Navy Yard locations. It is fine but overpriced and overhyped.

Strawberry hibiscus sorbet

Truly worthy of being a D.C. favorite! Ice Cream Jubilee offers a wide variety of delicious flavors, spanning expertly crafted classics and a series of fun, creative new varieties. There are a few consistent favorites that are always on the menu, as well as a seasonal menu that rotates in and out, meaning that I know that I'll be able to find something I love every time I visit, but I also have a lot of opportunities to try something fun and new. I also appreciate that they offer multiple vegan options, unlike most ice cream shops that will just have one very generic sorbet. They also clearly label which flavors are vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, as well as a series of other key dietary restrictions, which I really appreciated, since I've often found that I have to ask the staff and just generally hold up the line or feel like a burden to figure out that information. I tried out their seasonal strawberry hibiscus and it was absolutely incredible -- so light and refreshing, with the taste of summer exploding across my tastebuds. It also wasn't overwhelmingly sweet in the way sorbets sometimes can be. All around amazing shop, and I cannot wait to visit again to try out the next new seasonal flavors!

They have a great list of unique rotating flavors, and it's always fun to come back to try out their new seasonal releases. A few of my favorites over the years have been their hibiscus sorbet -- a delightful dairy-free addition to their Hispanic Heritage Month flavors that is the perfect balance of tangy and sweet -- the cinnamon cardamom -- a super spiced ice cream that, despite being freezing cold, feels like you're about to drink a warm beverage -- and blueberry sour cream crumble. When I'm feeling less adventurous, they also have a really solid strawberry ice cream that uses real berries (none of that artificial nonsense you see in grocery stores) with a delightful fruity, slightly tangy flavor. There's usually a pretty long line, but it moves quite quickly since they don't allow samples. It's also a small space that gets crowded pretty easily, so I'd recommend taking your ice cream to go and enjoying it as you walk around Mt Pleasant or on the benches just below the entrance to Mount Desert.

One of my favorite things about this shop is their doggy ice cream. My dog absolutely loves it, to the point where he screams if we walk by without stopping. It has become part of our routine, and watching him light up when he gets his own cup makes the stop even better. They also serve an ice cream taco in the winter, and I cannot wait for it to come back. It is fun, a little quirky, and exactly the kind of seasonal special that keeps things interesting. The walk up window is another huge plus. It makes grabbing ice cream with my dog easy and enjoyable, especially on nice days when you just want something quick and tasty. New Addition to my Ice Cream Mount Rushmore…read more When a friend heard I was heading into surgery, they sent a Yala ice cream care package via Uber Eats. I honestly didn't realize Uber Eats could deliver high-end ice cream--that is dangerous knowledge for an aficionado with limited self-control. I usually have a strict "Fridays only" rule to self-impose some restraint, but those rules go out the window during recovery. (A quick note: the surgery was nothing serious--just finally fixing a skiing failure from Breckenridge back in February.) To give some context on my palate: 6 out of 10 times, I'm ordering vanilla. I resent when people call it "plain vanilla"--vanilla done right is a complex, detailed flavor all on its own. 2 out of 10 times, I'm ordering something with peanut butter (ever since E.T. 'phoned home', I've had a Reese's problem). For the final 2 out of 10, I'll be adventurous with fruit or something unique. I didn't have much prior knowledge of Greek ice cream traditions, so I did some digging. Traditional Greek ice cream (Kaimaki) is often chewy and elastic, but Yala takes a modern approach for DC. They've hit a "middle ground" texture--creamy like American ice cream but light like gelato. They use A2 dairy from South Mountain Creamery, which makes it incredibly smooth and much easier to digest. After a few days of sampling, Yala is firmly within my ice cream pantheon and established on my "Mount Rushmore" alongside Adrian's Custard in Wisconsin and Oberweis in Chicago. I did my tastings "blind"--meaning I looked at it, but I did not read the foundational ingredients before eating and reviewing. Here are the reviews for the four flavors: Mornings with Thea (Orange Label) My daughter led the charge here, describing it as a "tropical orange cream" that felt like a "wave of summer" with a sophisticated, creamy "winter undertone." My own take was that it tasted like a bougie, orange creamcicle, but with incredible orange chunks. I thought it was candied orange zest, which was new to me and amazing, I also thought I caught hints of peach layered in. I later learned these are traditional Greek orange preserves (spoon sweets) swirled into a yogurt and vanilla base. Yia Mas (Pink Label) I'll be honest: I don't even like cherries, and I first thought these were raspberries. But this was fantastic. It has tart wild cherries swirled into a Greek yogurt and vanilla base. The fruit is succulent and pops against the creamy background. American Dream (Brown Label) A blend of "Papou's Promise" vanilla and "Choco-Yala" chocolate. The chocolate pieces are crisp and have a nice crunch, providing a perfect structural contrast to the smooth vanilla. Mint Chip Mou (Green Label) I've always thought of mint chip as a holiday flavor, but this version felt perfect for March. The color is a soft, spring-like green--not an artificial iridescent glow. When first scooped, the aroma pops into the air, similar to the zest of a a ripe, juicy tangerine when you peel it (the effect, not the the flavor or smell). The mint is light and dreamy rather than a full frontal assault, and the small chocolate pieces are a compliment, not a competitor, providing a nice lingering aftertaste. I was floored to find out that "spring" color comes naturally from spinach! The common thread across all these flavors is that they are well-blended, yet the components stand out independently in the profile. It is a masterpiece of textures and tones; the chocolate or the fruit isn't "mushed" into the ice cream but exists as a separate, wonderful experience floating in an ice cream or yogurt environment. I resisted the Yelp urge to rank these against each other, there were no disappointments. Obviously, Papou's Promise vanilla tops my hit list for next to try, I want to compare Greek Blue Summer against my favorite blueberry pie ice cream from Oberweis, and I'd would love to sample anything peanut butter related if they put something out as a seasonal special! A huge thanks again to my kind friend for the recovery fuel. I'm already planning to organize future ice cream socials here for friends and colleagues once I'm back on my feet.
