Nice treat on a warmer day! It's a small shop with typical froyo self service model. I appreciated the variety of nondairy options and went with a combo of strawberry lemonade and mango sorbets both of which were really good. I prob did a little too much with the two flavors and all the tops since it got pricey pretty quick but it was worth it after walking around all afternoon.

Had no idea we had froyo in the city, absolutely cried happy tears at the sight so had to fill up!! This was a clean store, with lots of frozen yogurt and scooped ice cream flavors to choose from!

Perfect post-zoo dessert date spot! Easy self-service with a nice variety of options in both frozen yogurt and toppings. I personally enjoyed the Strawberry Lemonade mixed with Coconut frozen yogurt. One note is that there is very limited indoor seating, with one table for two inside--but there's ample seating outside. Very cute how they themed the inside with panda wall art to reflect the nearby zoo residents.

Amazing service very kind! Yogurt was very good. Very nice area with a lot of places to sit.

Just what this hot day needed!

Fresh out of the Smithsonian National Zoo we stopped by for a cold treat on this beautiful day. Plenty of Frozen Yogurt options and lots of toppings. We decided on a couple of milkshakes. Appreciated the compassion the person working the counter had for some people in need.

Great service and delicious froyo!! We got froyo and a small panda stuffie and we were able to get free caramel/chocolate fudge and whipped cream!!

On the pricier end, their frozen yogurt does taste great with plenty of options and toppings. There are only 2 tables of seating inside, but they do have games of Jenga one can play! Outside, there are four tables to dine at. In terms of flavors, they have plenty of options with non-dairy sorbets as well (Watermelon and Mango) and one of the coolest topping bars with an angled mirror showing all the toppings from above. Its proximity to the Smithsonian Zoo is quite helpful, especially on warm summer days.

    Closed early no idea why

VEGAN REVIEW Always appreciate a fro yo place with vegan options! This one had 3 sorbets. Could use additional vegan toppings besides fruit, but a solid dessert option when you are over by the zoo. Person working was very friendly. Clean space & the toppings bar was well maintained

For the sorbet, I was recommended the Lemon Opal Basil and Sour Cherry flavors, and BABY... my taste buds were dancing! Then I grabbed my surprise coffee from Will. He made me an iced Oat Milk Dolce Delizia with a hint of vanilla, and it was right up my alley. After the very first sip, it was an instant connection... with the drink, of course. The vibes were so good that my friend and I ended up sitting there talking for a couple of hours. Between the incredible sorbet, my new favorite coffee order, and the cozy atmosphere, Dolcezza has officially inspired me to start going on late-night coffee hunts and yap sessions. I'll definitely be back! Oh, and fyi... it does get a bit crowded, BUT don't let that scare you away! Everyone was super considerate and didn't linger once they finished eating, so others had a chance to grab a seat and enjoy the space too. So don't get overwhelmed--just be patient, soak in the vibe, and it'll be worth the wait! Line moved pretty quick.

I've tried other DDL lattes from other coffee shops around the city and this one is by far the best. It's good hot and iced. The seasonal strawberry matcha is also very good. This place is great for the seasonal drinks and gelato flavors using local ingredients. My absolute favorite seasonal flavor is the Blackberries and Cream gelato. I ate it so much last summer that I could see the color of the gelato get darker as the season progressed and as the berries reached their peak. I got a few hand packed pints to keep in the freezer but they didn't last long. The mascarpone & berries is my favorite classic flavor. I've been to every Dolcezza location in DC and my favorite is the DuPont location. The baristas are chill and somehow their drinks taste better than the other locations. Not sure how that's possible but I notice a difference. I think it has something to do with how the drink order is entered at the register. At another location, I noticed my DDL latte was entered as a latte with DDL syrup and it was noticeably off. Not sweet at all. When I asked the barista he said there was no DDL button but at DuPont the drink is perfect every time. I'm not usually focused on nitpicking but if I'm paying $10 for a coffee, I expect the taste to be consistent regardless of location. Back to DuPont. This location has decent seating but definitely isn't appropriate for longer study sessions during busy times. There's a large communal table and bar style seating along the front window that is great for people watching (or construction watching). It's conveniently located, about a 10 minute walk away from the DuPont metro. Is Dolcezza expensive? Yes. Will I continue to use my discretionary income on $10 coffee and gelato. Yes, because it makes me happy and it's an act of self care.

But then I finished my coffee in the thermos and wanted more for a full-on coffee day. Searching what's the nearest coffee shop, I found this one, which is placed within the Hirshhorn museum. It was a typical museum cafe, with essentially a 'stand' within the lobby of the building, where both coffee shop customers and non-customers lounged out. Of course I had first checked to make sure they had outside seating. Initially nearly no one was there, so it was very quiet--but the nice thing is sitting outside in the courtyard, when one looks up, one sees the perfect circle of the rotund building--I took a nice photograph of the circle with the blue sky and clouds in the middle. I had a regular (large) brewed coffee with milk. Staff was friendly in guiding me to where I could charge (once my laptop started to die after many hours of work outside). There was a charger in the lobby, and I could sit there once one of the few chairs nearby became free. They had bathrooms downstairs, along with a water fountain. Very good place to get work done--all the ingredients were truly present. Even if the mood was not full-on coffee shop style.

I was able to observe the baristas making the drinks and the quality seemed inconsistent among individuals. Milk was poured heavily. I ordered the coquito and it was practically milk instead of the expected Puerto Rican eggnog. The coffee was brewed weakly, so I was dissatisfied by the lack of fragrance and caffeine. It needed more warm spices and a nutty base to justify being one of the most expensive beverages on the menu. I would not visit Dolcezza again, even though it was convenient. I would rather walk nearby for a decent cup of joe.

The person who was working there was extremely kind and let us try whatever wanted. I tried the dark chocolate and bacio flavors and ended up choosing those as my gelato for the evening. The smallest cup was a regular and came out to able $9 with tip. There was a lot of seating options outside. I'd recommend this spot for a sweet treat.

The price was more eye-watering than mouthwatering. I suppose it's both a premium location and premium quality, but that was a small cup for over $10. As an occasional indulgence, I do recommend it, and given that it's a Baltimore brand whose original location is near the water, there's something appropriate about it being on the wharf.

However, after hearing (over and over) the woes about their struggling businesses even though they are neighborhood gems, I have to voice my frustration. First, the Italian Bar hours are ridiculous, and they never seem to be open when considering whether to go to Italian Bar. Whereas most coffee houses close at 7pm, Italian Bar closes at 6pm in the summer. And more importantly, don't get me started on the fact that they are only open 3 days per week in the winter. I often watch customers trying to visit Italian Bar in the winter, look confused when the cafe is closed in the middle of the day, and simply go elsewhere. Then, there are all of the rules that Italian Bar shares openly. I took pictures of the rules which are oh so visible. The fact that community members cannot sit on their benches when the restaurant is closed just attests to the fact that they are not part of the community. Quite honestly, I don't feel welcome, more like I should relish the opportunity to potentially buy products at the cafe if I somehow decide to visit during the few hours that they are open. Hopefully they will start realizing what being a neighborhood cafe really means.
