Stopped by FroZenYo after a hot day at the zoo. Perfect location for a quick sweet treat. They had standard flavors ranging from both milk based and fruity options. The topping selection was standard but I did really enjoy the chocolate peanut butter crispy topping, reminded me of a nutter butter in the best way! Added a great crunch to the bowl. The price is definitely on the higher side compared to other froyo places. Also, they didn't offer complimentary tap water which is needed when having a sweet treat like this, only bottled water. Nice treat on a warmer day! Nice selection of froyo flavors and ice cream. We bribed my son to walk around the zoo, instead of being carried, with ice cream. This was right outside the zoo so we stopped by here before going home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are only two seats inside that have two seats each, not useful for a family of four. Luckily the seats outside were shaded so we grabbed one table (there are four).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were a steady stream of people getting froyo before and after us, but there were always enough seats. Enough people grab it to go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's 85 cents per oz, which is on the more expensive side, but being there's no other options so close to the zoo they can definitely charge that price. I got tart and added mochi, chocolate chips and cookie dough. There aren't a ton of toppings, but they have all the standards. My kids got orange ice cream in sugar cones. The scoops were huge so they were happy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's no restroom, luckily we had water to pour on napkins to wash their sticky hands.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're going to the zoo, I'd recommend coming here instead of getting the zoo ice cream. read more

After I was introduced to this place, I could not stop coming back. It's very nostalgic to childhood and probably the only froyo place I know that's open. They have a lot of different flavors and a wide assortment of toppings. My highlights are the syrupy walnuts, popping boba, and reeses. The price is also reasonable, it's by weight but it's what I'd expect going to an ice cream place. read more

On the pricier end, their frozen yogurt does taste great with plenty of options and toppings. There are only 2 tables of seating inside, but they do have games of Jenga one can play! Outside, there are four tables to dine at. In terms of flavors, they have plenty of options with non-dairy sorbets as well (Watermelon and Mango) and one of the coolest topping bars with an angled mirror showing all the toppings from above. Such a great frozen yogurt spot. The place was super clean and the yogurt was really good with lots of solid options. What really stood out though was how nice the owner was. My phone was completely dead and they went out of their way to help me find a charger so I could charge it, which I really appreciated. Popped in yesterday afternoon after a quick visit to the zoo. Wasn't familiar with the area and my small family and I were famished. We saw a sign at this location advertising fries, chicken wings and tenders so we ordered. Hot food at a frozen yogurt spot? We ordered wing and chicken tender platters. There was a small issue internally which caused a delay in our food but the food was quite tasty, well cooked and they provided decent servings. The place was clean and the counter person was courteous. It was a very nice surprise to find some quick hot food at a frozen yogurt spot! The froyo was quite enticing but we didn't have time-we were in a rush and had. Along drive ahead of us. Definitely stop by this spot if you are in the Area. The taste of the frozen yogurts, and selection of toppings was great. I had chocolate and cake batter, and I'd get both again in a heartbeat. The issue was the machines... you'd pull the lever and everything came flying out. Thank goodness the kind soul behind the counter understood and let me scoop out some of what I didn't want. That's sad because it was wasteful, but I didn't want 15 dollars worth of frozen yogurt! I'd give it five stars if the machines were fixed! read more

Frozen yogurt places often have these self serve machines which you pull the lever and fill your cone or cup. I like getting things myself. Sometimes this isn't always a good thing. A lot of times yogurt machines are broken. They also seem to be expensive for a portion. I thought it would be nice to come in on a hot day to get a cup. It has a very good location. We had just been walking around the zoo. Everything there is a ripoff so we waited until we got somewhere else. This was not any better and in fact was more expensive than many things at the zoo. I had a cup of the watermelon sorbet. This can be topped with many things like cookies, fruit, and whatever. It's about $7 for a large cup. They weigh it after you put everything on, so be careful and watch yourself. Simply sprinkling on a few things makes it much heavier. The stuff isn't even that good and nothing special. Be careful how much you fill a cone or cup. It seems like a ripoff. Toppings are mostly dried up. read more

Well... this place is convenient for a quick yogurt ice cream if you are around DC Zoo (also I think there are only few Frozen Yo left around the city). However, they mixed the ice cream business and the concept of Frozen Yo with French Fries!!! I believe they are only looking to diversify their revenues, the bad thing is that both business are very incompatible... When you go inside looking for yogurt ice cream and something fresh there is a very strong oil/frying smell... terrible! I don't think they will be able to sustain both business together going forward, very unfortunate. read more

I've been to every Dolcezza location in DC and my favorite is the DuPont location. The baristas are chill and somehow their drinks taste better than the other locations. Not sure how that's possible but I notice a difference. I think it has something to do with how the drink order is entered at the register. At another location, I noticed my DDL latte was entered as a latte with DDL syrup and it was noticeably off. Not sweet at all. When I asked the barista he said there was no DDL button but at DuPont the drink is perfect every time. I'm not usually focused on nitpicking but if I'm paying $10 for a coffee, I expect the taste to be consistent regardless of location. Back to DuPont. This location has decent seating but definitely isn't appropriate for longer study sessions during busy times. There's a large communal table and bar style seating along the front window that is great for people watching (or construction watching). It's conveniently located, about a 10 minute walk away from the DuPont metro. Is Dolcezza expensive? Yes. Will I continue to use my discretionary income on $10 coffee and gelato. Yes, because it makes me happy and it's an act of self care.

Service The service here was great and very friendly. We were traveling in a large group, and the staff was able to accommodate all of us in a very timely manner. Which we really appreciated since we were on our way to a destination and had other family members meeting us at the metro station. Thanks to their quick service, we didn't keep anyone waiting. 3. The Ice Cream As a Wisconsinite, I am a bit of an ice cream and custard snob being from the dairy state! While it doesn't quite match up to Wisconsin's Custard (IYKYK), I will say it was good ice cream and definitely tasted better than some I've had in other states. This made the spontaneous stop worth it. They offer several fantastic flavors of hand dipped ice cream. I ordered the salted caramel in a cake cone. The ice cream was really good. It was rich and flavorful. Not too salty either. It is wonderful to find a great local spot while traveling as I always love supporting small businesses. Here you go asking me again, will I return? Since there are no Jeni's near where I live (yet), I have more reasons to visit local stores that carry their pints.

The only downside wasn't the shop itself--it was the unpleasant odor outside while we were enjoying our ice cream on the benches.
