I'm a Dolcezza fan and have been a customer for years. My go to for coffee is the Dulce De Leche latte. Perfectly sweet and creamy. I've tried other DDL lattes from other coffee shops around the city and this one is by far the best. It's good hot and iced. The seasonal strawberry matcha is also very good. This place is great for the seasonal drinks and gelato flavors using local ingredients. My absolute favorite seasonal flavor is the Blackberries and Cream gelato. I ate it so much last summer that I could see the color of the gelato get darker as the season progressed and as the berries reached their peak. I got a few hand packed pints to keep in the freezer but they didn't last long. The mascarpone & berries is my favorite classic flavor. I've been to every Dolcezza location in DC and my favorite is the DuPont location. The baristas are chill and somehow their drinks taste better than the other locations. Not sure how that's possible but I notice a difference. I think it has something to do with how the drink order is entered at the register. At another location, I noticed my DDL latte was entered as a latte with DDL syrup and it was noticeably off. Not sweet at all. When I asked the barista he said there was no DDL button but at DuPont the drink is perfect every time. I'm not usually focused on nitpicking but if I'm paying $10 for a coffee, I expect the taste to be consistent regardless of location. Back to DuPont. This location has decent seating but definitely isn't appropriate for longer study sessions during busy times. There's a large communal table and bar style seating along the front window that is great for people watching (or construction watching). It's conveniently located, about a 10 minute walk away from the DuPont metro. Is Dolcezza expensive? Yes. Will I continue to use my discretionary income on $10 coffee and gelato. Yes, because it makes me happy and it's an act of self care. read more

Big big fan of Dolcezza and of this location! This is where my coworkers and I take a quick walk on warm days to get a sweet treat. Staff is great and will ask if you want to try and flavors. Gelato is fresh and you can taste the quality. It's almost rich, the taste is definitely better than other local chains. The consistency is just the right amount of thick. I wish there was more flavor variety from time to time, but there is no sacrificing quality because of this! The best summer treat you'll find! read more

We just discovered Dolcezza last night. We changed hotels and there was a different location near our new hotel....so we had to go again and try new flavors! Tonight I enjoyed the BANANAS FOSTER, and SWEET CREAM WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS. Both were really good. Bananas foster had strong, natural banana flavors. Last night, I absolutely loved the ROASTED STRAWBERRY flavor which tasted like natural strawberry. I think a two-flavor combination of ROASTED STRAWBERRY and BANANAS FOSTER would be a magical pairing! Service was quick. The line was not as long tonight. This location did not have outdoor seating except for a single bench. They place us cozy without a lot of indoor seating so be prepared to walk away with you gelato instead of hanging out. read more

We loved the available flavors and the fact that a "small" is two scoops of ice cream since we weren't forced to choose one due to not being too hungry. We got the coffee with cookies and the dulce de leche chip flavors and both were absolutely delicious. I liked the coffee with cookies better but would come back for both. They have limited seating in the store and some benches outside for nice weather as well but we wanted to stroll as we ate. I hadn't been to Dolcezza in years until I saw a sign outside for their Peach Matcha. Honestly, it was brilliant visual marketing because never have I ever even had a thought or desire that this drink should even exist until that moment. I don't think I had ever even been to this location prior, but upon walking into the space it was so cozy and calming. There was no line, so I was able to place my order and receive it quickly. I didn't know what to expect, but was so pleasantly surprised upon my first sip. Never did I think this drink would be so good! The matcha was smooth and creamy. But the real delight were the muddled peaches at the bottom. They were sweetened, which was unexpected but a pleasant surprise - kind of reminded me of peach pie filling making this drink more of a mild, sweet treat. It's been a couple weeks now and I'm still thinking about it so it was that good. However, even if I had a Dolcezza nearby I would still reserve it as a "from time to time" drink vs an every day drink only because it was a tad sweeter than what I would normally go for. I'm sure it's likely a seasonal drink but I'll be on the lookout for it again in the future. (And I'll keep an eye out for future drink specials from Dolcezza from here on out!) read more

They have a sesame flavor which I've never seen in a non Asian setting which was so interesting and delicious. Absolutely fantastic little spot. Only went for gelato, but will likely return at another time to try out the coffee and other treats they had available. The service was incredibly friendly and efficient, interior was clean, cosy, and quite inviting. For seating there was a large bench table and then some bar height seats looking out the window, making it great to just casually hang out while enjoying the treats. Not a crazy amount of seating but enough for a non rush time, though if have to judge how crowded it gets when the time invites more people. The gelato was fantastic, packed with flavor and incredibly creamy in texture. Ended up getting the coffee Christmas cookie and could not be happier with my decision. Prices were a tad in the higher side for ice cream, but worth it imo, and will likely return and highly recommend. read more

The place is quite presentable. The display of the gelato are inviting. They offer other items like wafles which we wondered how long it will take to get it done. The place is right now in, but it only has two people attending the crowd. Both extremely nice. They were trained to make cones look beautiful almost like a rose. It is pretty to see. The gelato is a bit sweet but ok.the cones are tiny. Indeed, the appearance is nice. It takes about 20-25 minutes to get a gelato. Too much to wait. The place needs a more efficient way to serve. It came to $30 for 3 gelatos. Granted my teens each got a $2 waffle cone, but still. The husband and I got a split scoop of roasted strawberry and chocolate fudge. I liked the flavor of the chocolate fudge but the texture was a little grainy and sticky. The roasted strawberry on the other hand might have been the best of all our flavors. The daughter had a really good mascarpone and berry, while the son had chocolate fudge and peanut butter chip. It was a nice ending to our first night in DC. read more

I visited this place around 8pm because a close friend recommended it and we hung out there together and I would describe it as a place that reminds me of what my life was like back in Berlin. Checked out Dolcezza after a dinner out during the weekday. I was surprised to find this location was jam packed with people. Safe to say that people are still enjoying gelatos and sorbets. There were few seating spots inside but most of them were taken. There was a small bench outside. It's right in front of a bus stop and in a bustling area near DuPont circle. Street parking is available for a short walk here. I got the mango sorbet and it was really refreshing. It wasn't too sweet and did not take away from the natural mango taste. The staff are friendly and samples of any flavors are welcomed. However, it would be a nice thing to be mindful of the people behind you. Would come back here. As far as the price, it is justified at $7-8 per small cup if you don't come too often. read more

I wanted to try a few of the gelato flavors and a staff member enthusiastically let me sample everything to my hearts content. He was super helpful and explained all of the flavors and their notes. I settled on the black and white cookie gelato which was awesome. We also got a dairy free hot chocolate and found seats at the one big shared table inside. This place is one of the few coffee/ice cream places that stays open late and you can tell there's a demand for more spaces like this because it stayed crowded the whole time we were there! People move in and out swiftly so you'll likely be able to sit but be aware you may be standing. Overall great quality and vibe and service. Perhaps a little pricey but more than worth it to me. read more
