This gelato was unbelievably good. Seriously the best gelato I've had in a while, maybe ever. It was elastic, luxurious, and flavorful. Chocolate hazelnut was the agreed upon favorite flavor: it literally tasted like Nutella. The Black Tea was pungent, yet light: it tasted like tea, but wasn't overpowering. I would highly recommend and would love to go back. *My group sampled some of the sorbets and found them not as punchy or flavorful as we would have liked, so I would definitely recommend the gelato, not the sorbet. read more

The gelato is excellent and house made. Matcha and berry go very well together. Service is good and everyone is nice, good place to have a date and chat, spacious enough to get work done too. They serve gelato how it's meant to be served! Not all out and about and piled high with "extras" and bright colors. So was happy to see this! Wasn't gonna order anything here until I saw that and knew it was legit. Wonderful and friendly staff. Enjoyed the ice cream as well. I will say that $10 is a lot for a large. It's really not "large" in most standards, maybe more a medium, but for 2 to split something it had to happen. So wish it wasn't so pricey, but that's the only downside. Pitango Gelato had a delicious variety of all the goodness in all the natural ingredients. After a late dinner around downtown, we stopped by Pitango Gelato and sometimes you cannot pass up on dessert. I had the two scoops in a cup - Hibiscus Blossom and Golden Kiwi flavors. My goodness was it delicious. I can't pick one over the other because both flavors complemented well together. My husband ordered a cup too - black tea and blood orange flavors. Outstanding. If you are an orange sherbet fan - the blood orange flavor tasted how a healthy orange sherbet should be. If we are in the area again, we will return. We were having cravings for something sweet, and gelato was the move! I settled on the lemon, chocolate hazelnut and matcha green tea. It hit just the right spot! Nothing was too sweet, and the matcha green tea flavor didn't have any bitter aftertaste. My favorite is definitely between lemon and chocolate hazelnut. I almost always get chocolate hazelnut with another flavor but with summer coming, the lemon will be a really good choice! The staff are really helpful with recommendations. They're quite patient while you figure out what flavors you want because they have a lot of different flavors to choose from! I think they have consistent foot traffic throughout the year, but they are pretty good about serving you quickly. There aren't as many seating options because they have a smaller seating area, so they can have a pretty full area when they're busy. Still would stop by whenever the cravings kick in! They just a little bit pricey, but when cravings hit, the cravings hit! Definitely recommend. read more

This gelato place made me want to (pi)Tango!! Located near Metro Center, we stopped in on a warm DC spring day (read extremely muggy) and it was the perfect reprieve. They had tons of flavors and the staff were very helpful! I tried one of their classic chocolate flavors and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too sweet! I wouldn't call it authentic but that doesn't feel like the vibe they are going for. The interior has a handful of chairs but otherwise is pretty sparse on decor. I like that they have dairy free options and coffee as well! Overall, I didn't mind dropped $7 on a scoop of gelato but probably won't be doing it on the regular. read more

We stopped by for a little treat while we were around the area. I ordered the tumeric and ginger, pistachio, and tamarind. I really like the tumeric and ginger because you can taste the ginger in it. The pistachio was very creamy. The tamarind was a little different. It was a sorbet with a tart and sour taste. Service was quick because they didn't have a long line. The shop was tiny so it doesn't fit that many people in the shop. They also sell coffee but I didn't get a chance to try any of them. read more

The good thing that sets this gelato place apart from a lot of the other ones in DC is that all of their gelato is lidded in metal containers per flavor. And this is a great sign that differentiates it from tourist-adjacent gelato spots because similar to authentic gelato places in Italy, there is no dramatic presentation that splays out the gelato with mix-ins and exposure to the general refrigerated air. Sacrificing casing presentation comes at the price of delivering actual high quality gelato that have unique and thoughtful flavors, likely made with a high quality milk. When we recieved our cup, the milk had a slight thick, almost stringy, quality to it which has a great mouth feel, and this is probably only achieved by going through the proper gelato-making process. Unique flavors such as nuts, teas, and underrated fruits such as cantaloupe really shine through in these circumstances where they are able to distill the flavors much more. Its great gelato, especially in the city, this is my recommendation for those looking for a sweet treat. It appears to be small batch, there is a variety of gelatos and sorbettos, and its just made the right way! read more

If you're looking for delicious gelato, this is the place to go. I was genuinely impressed by the quality--especially the vegan options. I expected them to taste more like a sorbet or icee, but they were incredibly creamy and full of flavor. Yes, the line is long, but totally worth the wait. Prices are on the higher side (a small is around $8), but the quality justifies it. Plus, they'll happily give you samples if you ask--definitely take advantage of that and try some of the more exotic flavors. One of the vegan options I tried was chocolate, and it absolutely blew my mind. Easily the best chocolate gelato I've had--vegan or not. You honestly wouldn't even guess it's dairy-free. We also tried the cherry lemonade, a special for the Cherry Blossom Festival. It was refreshing, but didn't quite deliver on the cherry flavor for me. I don't usually eat gelato, so I was pleasantly surprised by the creaminess. The service was excellent; I wasn't sure what to choose, but the cashier helped me by offering samples and sharing details about each flavor I tried. One of the chocolate flavors I sampled was incredibly rich and chocolatey--it's water-based and vegan-friendly, which was a first for me! Solid gelato! My sugar cone was soggy but I still enjoyed my gelato, which is on the pricier side of ice cream in the city. The coffee gelato was almost like a sorbet - not super milky. I ordered a small, which comes with two scoops. It was really hard to decide which flavors, but I ended up choosing the dark chocolate, and the cinnamon. Both are amazing. The dark chocolate will cut any chocolate craving and the cinnamon was just so delicious- not overwhelming at all. I really enjoyed both. It was also nice that they let you sample (my cinnamon sample influenced my decision). Please note that it's insanely expensive. For two smalls, it cost over $17 without tip. I understand the quality of the ingredients is high, but damn. That's a bit much. read more

Wonderful gelato for quality options. I was able to sample a variety of flavors. Potent flavors for all of them especially the pistachio. If a gelato spot has a strong pistachio, it will usually be a strong gelato spot. Furthermore, the gelato had covered lids for each ice cream. Not only does this increase the mystery of each flavor, but it also regulates the temperature better. In this way, this place a wonderful gelato place. read more

TL;DR: on the pricey side but the flavors are oh so good! Stopped by after an afternoon at the National Mall, this was a perfect post-museum pick me up! I got the mojito sorbet (lime and fresh mint) and black tea gelato (milk tea) in a regular size and my friend got the coconut gelato and mango sorbet. All the flavors were excellent! Service was friendly and they were very happy to let us try a bunch of samples before we ordered. They have very few bar seats in the shop but we sat outside on the bench in the sun and it was absolutely perfect. Flavor review Mojito: deliciously refreshing with a wonderful fresh lime juice flavor and it even managed to retain that deliciousness that fresh mint has. Awesome on a warm day Black tea: this was like a milk tea flavor and had a really good amount of tea flavor in it without getting too milky. The ice cream also had that great sticky melt in your mouth texture that good gelato has so I was very happy Coconut: so good! Tasted exactly like delicious Thai coconuts and also wasn't too cloying Mango: this was excellent - possibly one of the best mango sorbets I've tried. It tasted exactly like frozen mango and had that fabulous fragrance that mango has They have a lot of flavors so it was hard to pick but I'm intrigued by the saffron pistachio which sounds like something I'd get next time. read more
