I stop by here every few months when they have an interesting flavor and it's always a good experience! I'm usually there on a weekday afternoon, so I don't know how it would be with a crowd, but as it is I've always had good, friendly service! I really enjoy being able to buy the specialty pints you can't get in stores, and there's something new every time. As far as ice cream chains in DC, this is the most reliable for me, although I've had one or two experiences with freezer burn. I have a slight preference for the Eastern Market location for that reason, but in general it's all been great, and I love that there's so much space to spread out and sit upstairs.

Stopped by for late night icecream and this place has a couple of unique flavors that were all very good. I got the goat cheese and cherries plus the almond sonetbugg by flavor and it was really good. I was able to sample the other flavors and they were also very good. The staffs were super nice too so overall a good experience!

Lawd have mercy! Jesus take the wheel! Okay, so I finally was able to try this gem of a place with my homie! I ordered a standard cup with 2 scoops. Scoop #1 was Wild-berry Lavender & Scoop # 2 was Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks. The wild-berry lavender reminded me of a cool summer breeze, with notes of comfort and grounding laced in between each bite. I felt my tastebuds come alive with each and every bite. The Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks was rich and decadent. Imagine warmth and bliss, coupled with a good movie. Yup, this is this ice cream flavor! I felt a strong sense of peace after finishing my ice cream. Jeni's quality is truly top notch! The customer service is also on point! The staff do a great job, they are friendly & also happy to be working! Check this spot out as our days continue to warm up! Cheers!

Love Jeni's usually but when my date and I stopped by on a Friday night, all the employees were huddled in a corner chatting for a while even as a line formed. Then when we were served, they weren't very friendly and I could see a scoop of a different flavor was left/dropped into a different flavor (see photo). I don't recommend coming to this location, at least on a Friday night - it can also be hard to find seating, even upstairs, and because it's so busy the tables are left dirty.

Our 3rd time having Jeni's. First time in Georgia, second time in Philly and this time in D.C. Their ice cream is always excellent. We tried their seasonal flavors. Root beer float (amazing), toasted s'mores, watermelon taffy (sour but so refreshing), double dough. Cannot be happier. I only wish there's one by where I live.

As Ohio natives (where Jeni's started) - Jeni's never disappoints . With their unique and addictive flavors we always love coming in here for a little treat, even in the winter! We got a cup of the gingerbread and brown butter almond brittle (a staple). Service was good and we felt safe because they have a security guard inside the shop late at night.

Love Jenni's and this location is no different. The U st location is great because there's a ton of restaurants around and Jeni's is the perfect night cap. The ice cream is always perfect!!

Ridiculously good ice cream, homemade cones, with a ton of flavors and fantastic staff. This shop was my first experience with Jeni's Ice Cream and by far the gold standard for a wonderful scoop experience. There's a ton of unique flavors, every one of them as intense and creamy as the last. The staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly, eager to give tastes so you can find your new favorite. My go to is a regular size Sea Salt Caramel and Salted Peanut Butter on a waffle cone, and holy cow it's good. There's a few benches outside, a counter with stools on the first floor, and a whole second floor of tables and chairs. It's an absolute must to give it a try.

All day I said i wanted a butter cake and then said I guess I'll get ice cream instead. Just for Jeni's to have a butter cake ice cream and a salted caramel ice cream. It was so good my only downside is why am I paying for a half scoop and being told so I can enjoy more flavors when really I'm just paying more money for less ice cream. Will I come back probably not flavors were good though.

SOO delicious. line at 12am but so expensive like $8 for two half scoops. got the miso and bramble berry

I got brown butter almond ice cream and the butter flavor hits you as soon as you put it in your mouth. Nice and smooth ice cream. Employees were really nice and helpful in helping us choose flavor. He also made sure we weren't pressured in tipping. Clean shop as well.

I've been to Jeni's a few times and I also get their pints at the grocery store. Jeni's makes excellent, super premium ice cream. I'm a big Ben & Jerry's fan, but I have to admit that Jeni's tastes richer, creamier, and more premium. And it is definitely better than another well known DC ice cream shop. On my recent visit, I got three flavors: Double Dough, Brown Butter Almond Brittle, and Gooey Butter Cake. Double Dough has chocolate chip cookie dough swirled into a buttery brown sugar custard. Normally, I'm not a big fan of cookie dough ice cream because I find the vanilla base boring and the chunks too infrequent. I was a big fan of this flavor because of the brown sugar custard base and soft chunks. Almond Brittle had brown butter almond candy crushed into buttercream ice cream. It was good and tasted true to its description. Gooey Butter Cake is a classic Jeni's flavor and has cream cheese ice cream layered with crumbles of vanilla cake and a swirl of caramel-butterscotch sauce. It's an amazing flavor. Service was good but it was little hard to understand my server. I visited in the evening and it seems they ran out of some flavors, so there was less variety than I expected.

Very expensive in DC. It's clean. But the flavors consistently change. Workers are very rude. I would just go to Safeway.

Very helpful staff, cute ice parlor vibes and decor..what's not to like! First, I can only indulge in dairy free products so while the selections here were few, the choice that I made was surprisingly shocking-all cashew milk are not enjoyable lol. I ordered the raspberry cheesecake ice cream and honey, after one bite, I thought that I was eating dairy because it was THAT creamy and good! Filled with flavor and delicious to the last drop, I thoroughly enjoyed it on a sugar cone. But here is where I laugh to myself because I sat outside, enjoyed a delicious ice cream and decided to then try a patty lol yes! I ordered one of the curry chicken patty and as a native Island gal, this place knows how to blend their flavors. Those patties were buttery soft and filled with flavor inside-ENJOYED IT! Would I return? YES! I do hope that they expand their vegan flavors but yes yes yes! It's hot in the District, stop by local and enjoy a well deserved treat.

I even love that they offer single serving banana pudding in the perfect size container so that you can enjoy without over indulging. They have a great list of unique rotating flavors, and it's always fun to come back to try out their new seasonal releases. A few of my favorites over the years have been their hibiscus sorbet -- a delightful dairy-free addition to their Hispanic Heritage Month flavors that is the perfect balance of tangy and sweet -- the cinnamon cardamom -- a super spiced ice cream that, despite being freezing cold, feels like you're about to drink a warm beverage -- and blueberry sour cream crumble. When I'm feeling less adventurous, they also have a really solid strawberry ice cream that uses real berries (none of that artificial nonsense you see in grocery stores) with a delightful fruity, slightly tangy flavor. There's usually a pretty long line, but it moves quite quickly since they don't allow samples. It's also a small space that gets crowded pretty easily, so I'd recommend taking your ice cream to go and enjoying it as you walk around Mt Pleasant or on the benches just below the entrance to Mount Desert.

One of my favorite things about this shop is their doggy ice cream. My dog absolutely loves it, to the point where he screams if we walk by without stopping. It has become part of our routine, and watching him light up when he gets his own cup makes the stop even better. They also serve an ice cream taco in the winter, and I cannot wait for it to come back. It is fun, a little quirky, and exactly the kind of seasonal special that keeps things interesting. The walk up window is another huge plus. It makes grabbing ice cream with my dog easy and enjoyable, especially on nice days when you just want something quick and tasty. Mount Desert Island Ice Cream delivers great flavors, generous scoops, and thoughtful touches that make it stand out. It is a place I look forward to every time.

When I stopped by, it was raining heavy, but the walk from the metro was totally worth it. I stepped inside, heard some great R&B jams playing, and I made my way to work that amazing smell was coming from. Along the way, I passed some cute merch -- insulated bags and more. And then there was a freezer with all of their pints, ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream cakes. I got up to where the scoops are being served, and there was a very helpful sign next to it with all of the descriptions. I appreciate it the thorough breakdown of what has allergens, what has dairy, and what is vegan. I pretty much tried everything. My favorites were the vegan ones (spiced peanut crunch, tamarind spice), the spiced date cake, saffron pistachio, mangos & cream, black forest... I could keep going. I split a generous scoop of the spiced date cake & saffron pistachio and it was divine. I could've gotten some cool toppings too, but decided not to. It was $8 as is XD. It's definitely a splurge, but a unique flavor profile like this I think it's totally worth it. The pints are $12, which also isn't bad for something this unique imo. I'll be back to get some pints. It's awesome that it's in Brooklyn too, so my sister can explore it as well.

I was so excited, in fact, that I waited in line on opening day. While the flavors were indeed exciting, I found the flavor to be muted. I was picturing intense Indian spice that hits you in the face, only to be confronted with very mild flavor. I've been a few times since opening, and I think it's fine, but it doesn't live up to expectations. I've found the soft serve to be better than the hard ice cream, but it almost has too creamy of a texture. The yogurt soft serve flavor with cardamom was the best thing I've tasted there. The ambiance is fine, there is a small patio for warm days. The last time I was there the inside smelled like sewage, eeek!
