The chocolate and fudge are very fresh here. They also serve ice cream. Good boxed gifts to go as well. A little pricy as a small Dubai chocolate was $6.99. Parking is garage parking and paid. Good outdoor seats and you can walk along the wharf. read more

My girlfriend and I split a medium. I had this ice cream back at home, so I wanted my gf to experience the nostalgia. Expensive ice cream, but very solid. We got the cookies and cream and trip chocolate Would get if no cheaper options around read more

This place smells so good and there's a variety of goodies from ice cream to popcorn to fudge and more. Sampled a variety of ice cream and settled on the cookie dough. The ice cream and even the sorbet is very creamy. The in store made waffle cones are a must. One star is missing because I had my mind set on cookies and cream, but they were out! Also, I asked to get two flavors in my cup, but was told they could only scoop one flavor per cup. Most places let you do 2 flavors in one cup. Also got the milk chocolate sea salt pecan clusters, which were satisfying. read more

This was my first time visiting and I enjoyed my ice cream so much! Workers were super kind. Inside, they have an assortment of sweets and treats in addition the ice cream. It's so much to choose from. Worth stopping by. I enjoyed the Superman with rainbow sprinkles-- definitely one of a kind. read more

There was a line but it lives quickly! The staff is super friendly & efficient. There's no room inside to stay & eat but there are plenty of clean tables outside the common area. We enjoyed our ice cream outside. The flavors were on point & creamy. The only downfall is that the garbage cans were overflowing and a little more care could be taken to the inside of the store to make it more aesthetically pleasing. I may have purchased some chocolates as well but it didn't pull me in. Otherwise, I would certainly have ice cream at Kilwins again! read more

Quick Stop while strolling at the Wharf and of course, who doesn't want some ice cream. We decided to stop to get a tasty treat to waste some time. I was able to see fudge in the making along with getting my selected vanilla beam ice cream with pecans added on top. I love a good chunky ice cream with great flavor. The ice cream parlor was clean and neat with so many specialty fudge items. The service was quick and easy. Will definitely return when in the area. read more

Nasty manager unwilling to go the extra mile. When we called he had such an attitude and left me on hold for 15 minutes. Poor customer service. read more

Kilwins at the DC Wharf was a great treat. I loved the chocolate-covered pecans--especially the vanilla ones. The caramel candy apple was also good and worth trying. Prices are high (not just Wharf prices, but typical American prices now), so it's best if you're looking to splurge on a treat. Recommended if you want to indulge. read more

Blink and you'll miss this place and that would be a mistake. The staff were very friendly and welcoming as soon as you walk in. While the shop may seem small but there's lots of things to choose from. The Lemon Meringue ice cream was so tasty and just full of flavor. The biggest problem is choosing from all the flavors read more

After dinner at The Wharf, we wanted something sweet to end the night and decided to grab ice cream at Kilwins, which sells fudge and chocolates as well. They offer 24 ice cream flavors with their top 10 posted on the wall behind the counter. I selected the CAPPUCCINO CHIP since coffee ice cream is one of my favorites and I was especially enticed by seeing it ranked as their third most popular flavor. Unfortunately, I was let down as it reminded me of something I could get at the grocery store. I have nothing against a store-bought ice cream, but I do have higher expectations when it comes to specialty shops like these. The taste of the coffee wasn't as prominent as what I've had elsewhere; instead, it was more milky in flavor and therefore underwhelming. However, I did appreciate the creaminess and thick chunks of chocolate that were spread evenly throughout. Perhaps I should have sampled a few different options before deciding, but the Cappuccino Chip spoke to me in the moment, so I just went with my intuition! One other person in my group selected the Pistachio and said it was fine, but the pistachios themselves were soft and the ice cream was the artificial green color. With a single scoop in a cup being $7.29, I personally didn't feel that the quality lived up to the price. read more

Stopped by for some dessert on a cold Friday evening. My partner and I split a large, which is more worth it than getting two smalls. There was a line but it moved quickly. But because there's a line, it's a bit harder to ask the staff for samples. There is only outdoor seating I believe, so we were freezing as we ate our delicious ice cream. Wish they had indoor seating and more staff but with their limited space, I can't blame them. A bit sweeter than I preferred but that could just be a flavor selection thing. read more

Had dinner in the war area and stopped for some dessert. I ordered a scoop of ice cream and some of the truffles that they had there. The ice cream was really good and so were the truffles. I would say one drawback was there was one person for the whole store restaurant so there was definitely a wait. And I heard they were out of a lot of things from hearing the young man who was overwhelmed till the customers read more

Kilwins (specifically owner Jason) turned my frown upside down. About a year ago (meant to post this sooner!!) stopped by here on a very busy Saturday night (after the boat parade). We walked up and tried to find line, asked a couple people, and were basically told there were two lines. So I got in the shortest one, of course! Right before I got to the counter to order the employee says to me "You are not in line. They are not in line," as if trying to call us out and shame us like we cut in line. We definitely didn't--and definitely didn't do it intentionally if we did. After that, I said "no thanks, we don't want anything. I don't appreciate being treated that way." I was sad to not get ice cream and even sadder to be treated so poorly. Owner Jason apparently overheard and came and talked to us as we left. I explained the situation and he agreed the line was confusing. He offered me and my friend ice cream cones on the house and I was not only incredibly grateful to be validated about the line, but also grateful to see how much this owner cares about his customer's experiences. Ice cream was great. And the concern about our experience was even better! Thank you Jason!! read more

We stayed at Hyatt House which had an ice cream place right next door. Went there the first night then came here. Loved Kilwins! The area was less crowded and quieter. We didn't have to wait. We shared the coconut ice cream which was delicious. I also ordered a dark chocolate/salted caramel covered Oreo. So good! Friendly staff and an all around great experience. I wanted to try all the candies and goodies! Will probably be back before we leave town. read more

I recently went here on a weekday afternoon and got a scoop of Kilwin Tracks in a cup. I had to wait for a couple minutes to get my order but nothing crazy. I thought the ice cream portion size and taste for the cost (almost $9 for one scoop) was not worth it. The Kilwin Tracks was fine but not good enough for $9. read more

Very average ice cream shop. The flavors are not creative nor taste extraordinary... My kids had mint chip, and a rainbow flavor. My husband had the caramel pecan which was overly sweet. The shop looks nice and I presume it is expensive because of its location on the wharf. Overall, the Ben and Jerry's around the corner would've probably been better. For reference, we spent $30 on three smallest size ice creams and one chocolate turtle. read more

I had a sweet tooth after dinner so I decided to check out Kilwins. It's such a cute shop by the Pendry at the wharf. It smells like fudge before you even enter. You feel like a kid in a fudge & icecream shop. Such a great selection of fudge, icecream, and candy apples. I ordered a 2 scoop in a waffle cup. I tried the s'mores & Nola praline. They were both amazing. The associate let me try them before I purchased. He was very friendly. I will def be back to try more items. read more

Ordered through DoorDash and in no way is this Door Dash's fault but Kilwins forgot to add the waffle roll which I paid extra for in my order. I called them to let them know and what should I do to refund and spoke with someone named Josh who was incredibly rude, rushed me off the phone and when I was going to ask a follow up question he hung up on me. This is one of the few ice cream/treat shops located on the Wharf. There is limited metered street parking within a reasonable walking distance. There are also commercial lots and garages available. The shop offers fudge chocolates, candle apples, and of course.....ice cream, which you can get in many forms including hand scooped, pints, cakes, sundaes, and shakes. It is relatively easy to find, but it is tucked behind Gordon's Ramsey's Fish and Chips, near Hell's Kitchen. The staff there was friendly enough, but I will admit that my interaction with them was limited. If you are not sure what flavor you would like, they do offer free samples and will help you to decide. The shop is very clean and tidy. Even though there was a long line when I entered, it moved relatively quickly. I got two scoops of the toasted coconut. It was pretty good. They do not have any place inside of their shop to eat. There are some tables and chairs set up outside the front of shop though that you can eat at. There is also a small outdoor seating area near the shop that you can eat your treat at as well. That is where I sat. This spot has a monopoly on the tasty treats on the wharf. I recommend getting one (or even two) of their treats and just sitting along the River while you enjoy it. read more

Dangerous! So many sweet treats to choose from. Candied apples, fudge, chocolate, candies, ice cream, etc. I was hooked when I tried the apple pie caramel candied apple. I bought the pecan caramel apple. It was 7/10. It was a little dry. I don't feel the toppings added much to the apple or any sweetness. The sampled apple was much better. However, I did enjoy the truffle chocolate fudge. Lots of people were getting ice cream. There were some unique flavors available. I might have to try that next time. read more

I may have gained 5lbs today. I ordered a scoop of pumpkin and a scoop of apple pie ice cream in a waffle cone for this beautiful fall day and I was not disappointed. I received two huge scoops in a WARM waffle cone. I was shocked when I took hold of the cone and realized it was warm. I could taste the apple in the ice cream. THE definitive chocolate-covered caramel & pecan thingys variously called pixies or turtles. Lorraine, the GM of the Kilwins Ice Cream location at The Wharf, where we were, as well as all in D.C. area, was exceptional -- truly exceptional. I have Celiac disease and have to be mindful of cross-contamination. She didn't make me feel as if I was a bother to her or her team, which means the world to someone with allergies. Kilwins just opened up at the Wharf and DC residents are no longer safe. The shop is like a toy store for people who love sweets. I bought some ice cream, which was amazing. I also bought some fudge which tasted great - you can see them making the fudge in the back of the store.
