The ice cream from Ben & Jerry's never disappoints. I usually get the vanilla or cookie dough varieties, but this time I thought I would try chocolate. I got both a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of chocolate fudge brownie (both with sugar cones), and they were very rich and creamy. I really like getting ice cream from the Wharf location since it is nice and clean, and has a friendly staff. Plus, customers can chill and relax with the beautiful view of the marina as the backdrop. read more

After having an amazing dinner, my bf and i went to burn off some calories by walking along the wharf. We passed by and started to crave ice cream, resulting in adding more calories than burning them. The weather was in the mid 80s so it was a nice treat to cool down and to unwind the day. We went around 5pm and there was no line. There were 3 several employees working as it can get busy throughout the day. We got to sample a few flavors since it was not too busy. My bf and i each got our own flavors and got the Small (2 scoops) in oreo waffle bowl Top: Marshmallow Sky (pretty light blue vanilla ice cream with pieces of marshmallow bits, chocolate chunks, and soft cookie dough) Bottom: phishfood (chocolate ice cream with chocolate chunks) and sweet cookies and cream! Ice cream was expensive but not surprised considering it was on the wharf. Together for 2 smalls (2 scoops with oreo bowl) we paid $28. Sweet treat but not worth the $28. My partner & I were down at the wharf for Valentines Day and thought we'd top off the day with ice cream. Ice cream is her FAVORITE guilty pleasure, and you can only get Butter Pecan in an actual Ben & Jerry's store, so here we were. It was a nice day so the line was long, but we were willing to wait. It actually moved quickly. The employees scooping ice cream were serving us with a smile which is always great! We both got pints. Even if it is chilly outside, ice cream makes everything better! Plus your ice cream will melt slower! Metro is just a few blocks away. There is a parking garage nearby. Ice cream is good but it will be a lot better if the staff helped us out when we need it. It may be a D.C. thing for staff to just be moody or passive as we waited in line to order ice cream. It was our turn to pick ice cream and we were sampling different flavors as it's our first time in a Ben & Jerry's. But when my fiancé asked about choosing flavors, the guy just said someone will help us and proceeded to help the guy right behind us, who was of a different race than us and I can't help but feel this is a discriminatory action. I was baffled that we were skipped and I stared the guy down. There is no reason for him to be unhelpful to us. I'm not one for confrontations and we were finally helped out by another staff but this staff member really did the bare minimum with no smile and curt answers. I guess it doesn't help that there is also a huge line inside the shop on this hot day. Everything is expensive in D.C. We got a cup for $12 and you can choose 4 scoops. We got 2 scoops of mango, lemonade, and strawberry. Mango is pretty good. My fiancé likes sorbet but I'm not a fan. read more

I rarely ever catch a craving for ice cream but for some reason it hit me this week. So on one of my walks, I decided to drop by this Ben & Jerry's location. I've walked by it for years and have just never had the interest in going in. Plus, there always seems to be a pretty long line. This visit was no different, but surprisingly the line moved more quickly than I anticipated! They have all of the flavor offerings very visible to look at while to you wait so that you have plenty of time to decide what you'd like to order. I wanted something very simple - just a scoop of Cherry Garcia on a regular sugar cone. Unfortunately, that was not an option because there was a two scoop minimum AND I couldn't just get a plain cone - I had to choose from multiple dipped choices. Not only was this not what I was in the mood for but it ended up being twice as expensive. Next time I'm craving ice cream I'll just buy it at the store because I definitely didn't get exactly what I wanted (and didn't even enjoy the dipped cone.) read more

Today is Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's and they were definitely ready for a crowd! Though the line appeared long, it moved very quickly. They had menus handed out to those in line so they already knew what they wanted and had plenty of scoopers! And of course, the ice cream was delicious! I visited the Ben & Jerry's at 705 Wharf Street SW last night around 9:00 PM, and unfortunately it was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in a very long time. The employee working at the time was extremely rude from the start. She snapped at the customer next to me, handing her a cup and saying, "This is so you don't spill on my mopped floor, you're making a mess." While I understand wanting to keep the floor clean, the delivery was unnecessarily nasty and uncomfortable for everyone standing there. When it was my turn, she asked what I wanted while I was still looking, then grunted and walked away to the register where she immediately began scrolling on her phone. My friend and I stood at the register waiting, and she continued texting and scrolling as if we weren't there. When my friend tried to order and asked what was in certain shakes, the employee had a clear attitude and didn't seem to know what was in them -- all while staying glued to her phone. When I finally ordered, I told her my flavors and she asked me three separate times which ones I wanted, without making eye contact once. I then asked for a chocolate waffle bowl and specified the chocolate-dipped bowl with sprinkles. She responded with, "You need to do better than that and be specific. They all have chocolate." Because the music in the store was extremely loud and she refused to step away from the register or put her phone down, I walked over and physically pointed to the bowl I wanted -- and even then, she still acted annoyed and couldn't seem to understand which one I was referring to. Between the loud music, the constant phone use, the lack of attention, and the openly rude attitude, the entire experience was exhausting and uncomfortable. I would never want someone with this lack of basic manners or customer service representing my brand or company. Ben & Jerry's is supposed to be a fun, welcoming experience -- this was the exact opposite. Your employee has a nasty attitude and doesn't care for her job, let alone the people who are there paying for your products. read more

Prices will be a little higher than normal for being such a high traffic tourist area. Visited venue after very busy concert and staff was very friendly and the line moved quickly. I recommend the pints to go. They are more expensive than the store pints, however they are packaged right there in the store from their fresh shipments. read more
