The owner should look up the law because she's way out of compliance: https://code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/laws/23-187), but charge a 3% fee if you pay by credit card, which you are required to. They basically give you no option to avoid paying a fee. (In response to the owner's response below: They have a sign that says NO CASH, so is a customer supposed to believe they'll accept cash IF the customer has exact change, as the owner says they will? And if they do accept that cash, then they would, in fact, have cash on hand anyway, which undercuts her claim they have no cash on hand...but they don't because they have a sign that says NO CASH. Every other business in the community doesn't blame the city for their own non-compliant policies, as the owner does, and accepts cash in the same circumstances. Plenty of places are happy to take cash and prefer it, and it is required by DC law. I was surprised to see this NO CASH sign after emailing with the owner about it *a year and a half ago.* I walked right out when I saw the sign.) They also now have a self-serve bar which invites the spread of things like norovirus. There are no sneeze guards. They make it hard for me to support them even though I really have been trying to for years.

That was so very nice and appreciated, especially on a cold morning! The people were friendly too and all of them said good morning. I got a caramel latte with oat milk and it was good. I also tried a (vegan) bean pie and it was moist and delicious! The chocolate cookie cake was pretty good too. This is a gem of a place that I see as a must visit next time I'm in the area

The restaurant space is very open and light. On most days there's plenty of seating to choose from. As you peruse a menu that doesn't solely include sweet items which was a surprise to me the first time that I visited, the staff are patient if you have questions. My favorite item on the menu is the soul food platter which is available at an amazing price point. Everything is delicious, and I'm very particular about how my collard greens are prepared. I've also had some of their desserts, including the cheesecake which was amazing and a sample smoothie that was provided by the owner while I waited for my meal. I highly recommend a visit to Sweet Tooth Cafe & Cakes. These folks understand great customer service, appreciate their customers, and take out time to get to know you. Parking can be a little tricky, so I'd prepare ahead of time prior to visiting.

When I branch out, the other flavors are good, but this is my favorite. Service: slow AF. We pulled up last weekend and the line was out the door. Only one employee was working and she was pretty slow. It took about 25 minutes to get a couple scoops. Portions: it's very interesting how the pricing is set up between one flavor and two flavors. And what I found, is that the scoop sizes are really inconsistent. It makes sense that they would be slightly inconsistent, but I got two flavors and there was about as much ice cream in mine as there was in my friends, smaller, one flavor cup. However, when someone was asking for clarification, the employee explained that it was two scoops. Anyway, as a whole of ice cream is good and I'll keep coming back for that reason. I just want them to be staffed properly. What I don't love is that people hop in, grab ice cream from the freezer, cut the line and get checked out, while making people waiting in line wait. It's unfair and annoying, especially when you're just waiting for a couple scoops.

I always get the honeycomb ice cream with hot fudge, whipped cream, and sprinkles. It's huge and the right ratio of ingredients. Also, they don't skimp on the fudge unlike other places. Note: The fudge isn't as sweet as other shops, which I appreciate. This particular location is small. Located by other shops in Eastern Market, sometimes there's a wait. For example, we went recently on a Thursday afternoon. When we arrived, a sign on the door said they will be back in 30 minutes. When we returned, only one person was working, creating a backlog. I felt bad for her managing it all on her own. Our wait ended up being 30 minutes.
