This location is perfect. The backdrop view is the Wharf. We take the Waterfront metro exit (by Safeway) and walk by Arena stage, to the Wharf. Lumier's is not far from Gordon Ramsey's Fish & Chips and the Pier. There are SO many choices (sweet drinks, juices, ice cream) but the chimney cake is the unique item to order. It is a dessert within a dessert. The chimney cake is delicious by itself. But you can have a variety of toppings placed inside - ice cream, fruit drizzled with caramel, crushed cookies & ice cream and other choices. You can enjoy dessert or a beverage while watching boats, the sunset or activities at the Wharf. It is the perfect place to grab a treat. Check instagram or the web site for hours. This isn't just dessert...it's an experience. We got the Pistachio Lover chimney cake, and it was absolutely delicious. Rich, indulgent, and definitely big enough to share. It was the perfect treat while watching the sunset by the waterfront. The person making our dessert was incredibly friendly and happy to answer questions, which made the experience even better. Watching it being made fresh was part of the fun! It also brought back memories of the chimney cakes we had in Budapest. It was surprisingly authentic and hit the spot. If you're looking for a fun dessert that's just as memorable as it is tasty, definitely check this place out. I'll absolutely be back next time I'm in DC. read more

So good! I had stopped here after seeing it on TikTok. It's a little stand along the Wharf with not too many tables around, so I took mine for a little stroll. Loved the cinnamon sugar and added strawberries to the bottom of the Dubai chimney cone. The soft serve was amazing. It was around $14, but I thought it was worth it and a good portion. Walked in on a whim because the kids wanted something sweet. This was a completely new experience and I wasn't sure what to expect. A massive serving is what you should expect. I got something to share and that was difficult to finish. I think one serving is good to share with a small family. Opted for the pistachio but in the plated option to make it a little easier. I thought the cake tasted very good and sweet, and paired with the soft serve it was even better! I got the Dubai Chocolate Chimney Cake, and the filling tasted really nice, especially more towards the bottom. It feels a bit pricey for what you get but I'd expect that at the Wharf. I do wish there was more filling on the cake though. We got our order fairly quickly even though it was crowded. So glad I stumbled across Lumier's after getting dinner at The Wharf! If you crave a sweet treat after you eat, it doesn't get better than this. I was in between the dubai chocolate and the pistachio special but I went for the latter and it did not disappoint. This small shop makes the Eastern-European inspired chimney cakes fresh, fills them with soft serve and the toppings of your choice. It is a bit on the pricier side (~$15) but to be fair, it can be shared with 2-3 people. The only recommendation I have is that they make a mini or kid sized option, because it was way too much for me to eat on my own. I can't wait to visit again though!! read more

I was honestly a bit disappointed by this experience, or maybe I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The line was long, but moved fairly quickly. I ordered the ice cream with chocolate and the ice cream was ok, but I felt like the chimney cake wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be. It also comes in a tiny cup, which makes it a little awkward to eat. My friend saw this place advertised online and we decided to try it when we were strolling along the wharf. This is a great idea and I have heard of these chimney cake desserts in Prague but had never seen them in the US! The dough was fresh and we watched them cook the cake in front of us. The ice cream was a nice contrast, and this is a very sweet a flavorful treat. The negatives: this is very messy and entirely too big!! Great option to split! I also found the cake hard to eat because it was too hard to cut through with the provided spork, but soft enough to let ice cream through which makes it messy. I came here around 1:30pm on an unseasonably cool/cloudy Friday, meaning there were not many people at Lumier's when I got there. So that likely impacted my experience in a positive way. They have a touchscreen ordering system, which made it simple to place your order. When your order is ready, they both call your name out and text you, which is convenient if there *is* a long line and you want to venture a little while waiting. My order took less than 10 minutes, probably closer to 5. I ordered the pistachio special, and I loved it. The pistachio paste was plentiful - more than I anticipated honestly. I chose vanilla ice cream for it. The combination of flavors was super yummy. My chimney cake was still warm, so the hot/cold aspect was really good. I liked that the ice cream balanced out the stickiness and richness of the pistachio paste. The only downside is that it was super messy. When the staff member handed ut over, a bunch of pistachio paste dripped onto my hand. And, because the chimney cake is warm, the ice cream begins melting immediately. I cant imagine how quickly it melts when its hot outside yet. Putting it in the cup is helpful, but in order to be snug on the chimney cake, the cup is too small to really catch any "drippage" from the ice cream/paste. Im not sure what the solution for this would be, though, so I didnt deduct any stars. Overall, taste was definitely a 5 from my experience. Im just hoping something with the design changes a bit to make it more practical as a grab and go type of item. read more

Had my chimney cake virginity taken here and honestly I get the hype. I came with friends who've all had chimney cake in Europe so I was the only one without the proper connection... aka the designated newbie lmfao. But Lumiere's understood the assignment. It's warm, sweet, and dangerously easy to inhale, and the whole thing is gloriously messy in the best freaking possible way. I don't often get to see chimney cakes in US, but I always try to go when I do see them! Coming around 10:30 pm, it still had quite a busy line. It probably took 20 mins to get my order. I had the pistachio supreme, but to be honest it felt more like a pistachio drizzled on the ice cream. I had a vanilla and chocolate swirl as the ice cream. read more

When I tell you this chimney cake was one of the best things I've had sweet wise in a while. I could not get over the warm, soft Rich flavor of the actual cake and then the cold ice cream ,they complement each other well , It was a perfect combination. A cool new dessert spot opened up on the Wharf recently, and I knew I had to try it! The wait in line and waiting for my order to be made took a little while, but the employees were very friendly. I got vanilla ice scream in a freshly cooked funnel cake cone dusted with pistachio flavor and with pistachio cream on top. The flavor was excellent. The ice cream really hit the spot, and the cake cone was nice and rich. The pistachio flavor was nice and subtle. The prices are a bit high, but it's willing to worth a try if you're in the area. read more

Omgggggg! The wait was worth it. I ordered the vanilla ice cream with added strawberries for an extra $1. Total price was less than $15 which can be steep for ice cream BUT while waiting on my cake, the cashier gave little kids on their bikes free scoops of ice cream. The price could have been more if it meant I would contribute to kids getting a complimentary treat. I'm bringing my friend to experience this soon. read more

I was excited to try a chimney cake, that I saw on social media. However, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. A chimney cake is a pastry, similar to a churro but it is hollow inside and filled with fruit and/or ice cream. I tried a chimney cake with Nutella and strawberries and bananas. My friend tried a chimney cake with Nutella and ice cream. It's very difficult and messy to eat. I wanted to try the pastry but there was Nutella all over the sides and it didn't unravel like a ribbon. It was also hard to eat because I kept getting chocolate all over like a toddler. Lumier's doesn't quite live up to the expectations for dessert options on the Wharf. The concept of chimney cakes (cinnamon-style cake/cones) with ice cream is a creative one, as it's almost like a soft churro with ice cream but Lumier's can improve on its execution. The ice cream was great but I don't feel like the chimney cakes added much value for the $12 dessert. This place is astonishing. You walk up and these guys are willing to help and give suggestions. A group of us are from Texas for a College trip, and they were so polite and helpful in many ways. Also, you get to watch them make your food, and they even make sure that you have everything you want. Lastly, their mango smoothie was super good. This is hands down the best ice cream I've had yet--and I grew up in Vegas. I'd give it a 10/10, no hesitation. The ice cream itself was incredible, like a perfect mix between custard and gelato--rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Then there's the croissant. The sugar on top gave it this light, crackly crunch, while the pastry itself pulled apart almost like a slinky: crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Went to warf and we just discovered our new favorite ice cream place . Love the fluffy shimmery cake . So fresh and delicious. We got it with pistachio sauce and coconut sprinkled and ice cream on the top . First the pistachio sauce reminded me with same taste I had in Dubai . Amazing . I was sad to not get ice cream and even sadder to be treated so poorly. Owner Jason apparently overheard and came and talked to us as we left. I explained the situation and he agreed the line was confusing. He offered me and my friend ice cream cones on the house and I was not only incredibly grateful to be validated about the line, but also grateful to see how much this owner cares about his customer's experiences. The fire pit itself is a bit small and I wish it had more logs so it gave off more heat, but perhaps it's a safety thing. You get very long sticks and very large marshmallow. The marshmallows are almost too big because the insides don't get melted and it's difficult to slide it off the stick. It was a bit messy but it was fun and delicious! I would definitely recommend as a fun wintertime activity.

My friend who used to live in Baltimore told me her and her mom loved Pitango. She is gluten-free and pretty much all of their gelatos are gluten free. They also had a large selection of dairy-free options too. It's a tiny shop, but there are what feels like over 20 flavors to pick from. The person who was working there was extremely kind and let us try whatever wanted. I tried the dark chocolate and bacio flavors and ended up choosing those as my gelato for the evening. The smallest cup was a regular and came out to able $9 with tip. There was a lot of seating options outside. I'd recommend this spot for a sweet treat.

When she returned, she said, "y'all know what y'all want," which felt inappropriate for a 21st birthday celebration. Considering that she didn't ask about appetizers. It just felt like we were a bother. Then four out of five meals arrived first, but the birthday girl's food came about five minutes later. We waited to eat until her meal arrived, and my grits were already congealed. Refills were limited to water from the hostess, dessert was never offered, and the server left the check while the adults were in the restroom with two teenagers at the table. We would've ordered dessert. Even the cake felt handled last-minute. The hostess retrieved it from the fridge, added the candles, and offered plasticware and to-go boxes instead of plates, which seemed odd. We discussed the cake beforehand, and after it arrived I told the hostess she could cut a piece if she wanted. Then the server yelled "no" rudely over the table. It felt like she was upset we brought a cake, and communicated to the hostess that we wouldn't get plates or actual silverware, despite being told beforehand it was fine. Overall, the service felt unwelcoming and inattentive, leaving the meal far below what we expected. We didn't even feel comfortable taking pictures. We will never ever be back and I have already steered my friends away from your establishment.

The red wine vinaigrette dressing was tangy but not overpowering and the poached egg was subtle. So glad we got to try this place before heading home to Oregon!

Drink-wise, I always go for cold brew and the cold brew never lets me down there. Last time, they had a peanut-butter cold brew and a black cherry one, both of which were magical. Unfortunately, this location of Toastique does not offer decaf - they only have a single hopper for their coffee, so it is not an offering. We were going to find another place, however, they said how about a hot chocolate or a tea. My friend is vegan and inquired if their hot cocoa was vegan, as most places have dairy in the chocolate. The cashier went to look at the chocolate syrup and also had another person look at it to verify it's vegan. My friend ordered a hot chocolate with oat milk. Even though it was busy, we only waited about 5 minutes for her drink. We appreciated the effort to double check it was vegan, though I do wish they had decaf options.
