    Norwegian Cro'Gel

This is a great little pastry and sandwich style shop, once you can find it. I'm from out of town and google was very confused on where this was located on maps. Luckily common sense got me here. The pastries are beautiful and you can see them freshly putting them out. I loved the idea of a bagel croissant a Cro'gel. Fun name too! I got the Norwegian Cro'Gel. I love smoked salmon. Overall it is good, taste delicious, and quality is good. But can I get some salmon with my lettuce?? Overall would recommend. Missed on star for the salmon, or lack there of. To be clear I did get a full piece throughout the Cro'gel!

I really love this place! We needed a spot to eat after visiting the American Dream Experience at the MilkenMuseum. I saw this spot had 5 stars and we headed right in. It's diagonally across from the mall--a very quick walk! I was mesmerized by the pastries upon entry; their "cro-gels" looked scrumptious. I ordered the Village Cro-gel with avocado, and it was delicious! I also got a lemon meringue tart and was very happy with it. My daughter loved her Norwegian Cro-gel and Opal Noir dessert, and my son enjoyed his turkey BLT Cro-gel very much. However, my husband didn't enjoy his Parisian sandwich as much because the bread was too hard and hurt his jaw to chew. I ordered more desserts to go. I saw the Bûche cakes, but I wish they weren't so expensive! Overall, I'd rate this a 4.4, rounded up to a 5. Would I come back? Most definitely! Con: Not enough seating.

So glad we stopped at Fresh Baguettes for some coffee and pastries. Everything was absolutely delicious! Very attentive and friendly staff. Clean and inviting decor. Highly recommend if you need something quick!

During our last visit into DC we didn't think to make reservations and some of the local restaurants had 2 hour waits so we wandered around and stumbled across Fresh Baguette and yum. Fresh Baguette sandwiches are my new favorite

12/6/2025 - My friend went in to go grab me my items while I took photographs. Cute little place on the way from the Washington Monument to my hotel. We bought a raisin for $4.99 per item the Kouign Amann and Raison Bun. Both hit the spot. Lots to choose from. Eat inside or outside. They have coffee as well. We grabbed it to go to eat and walk the town. Great customer service and friendly. 5 stars.

We tried the croissants at this place. They were quite fresh, but they could have been better considering the price. Nevertheless, I would still recommend trying the croissants here.

Close to the White House and several metro stations, so conveniently located! The interior was very spacious with clean white tables spaced out very well. The counter area has distinct sections (for bread, pastries, sweets, sandwiches, ect). They have an array of hot and cold drinks (coffee is from Compass). They offer the usual traditional French boulangerie fare (baguettes, croissants, kouign-amann, la madeleines). I got a smoked salmon crogel. The bread was the great croissant recipe, but in the shape of a bagel topped with "everything bagel" spices. The smoked salmon was accompanied by cream cheese, greens and cucumber. The crogel held everything together well. This went well with hot black coffee (smooth and full bodied). I also got a sesame baguette and Nutella croissant to go. The former was crusty on the outside with a perfect chewiness on the inside (and plenty of sesame seeds). The Nutella croissant was flaky and buttery with rich hazelnut filling on the inside. Great new neighborhood addition!

Fresh Baguette is a French bakery that offers authentic pastries, breads, especially their baguette with a crunchy crust and a chewy interior, sandwiches, and many other offerings. This one, located in downtown DC near the Milken Institute and across from Truist, has a notably clean interior, and the display case was filled with a tempting variety of pastries and desserts, which immediately caught our attention upon entering. The Pistachio Orange Blossom Tart, which was pleasantly balanced and not overly sweet, paired well with whipped orange blossom and zesty citrus notes, combining harmoniously with pistachio ganache to create a delightful dessert that aligned with our preferences. The individual Tarte Normande (apple tart with egg custard) was also quite good, and both paired well with iced black tea and San Pellegrino, which are refreshingly cool.

Great spot to grab a coffee or espresso while visiting the White House . Great breads & snacks too. Lovely staff. The outdoor seating is a perfect place for people watching.

I heard good things about their sandwiches. My go to is normally Mangialardo's on Pennsylvania Ave in SE DC or Carl's Subbs on Rhode Island Ave in NE DC. I think I will stick to both of them next time. The staff was very friendly and helpful to me as a first timer but the sandwich was totally disapointing! NOT worth it, at all. I ordered a 9 inch capicola, ham, and cheese sub on the hard roll. The roll was very good and fresh but I couldn't taste the cheese or meat in the sandwich because there wasn't enough of it. I tasted the bread, the toppings of lettuce, tomato and onions. I decided to deconstruct the sandwich and found exactly 4 very thinly sliced pieces of meat and 2 very thinly sliced pieces of cheese as pictured clearly in the photographs. I also noticed that the they have different prices for the same type of meats. For example, they have a $29.99 per pound Capicola and one for $9.99 a pound. I asked which went on the sandwich and of course it was the cheaper one. That wasn't surprising and getting my sandwich back to the office. I decided not to eat the rest of the meatless sandwich and just take the loss. I wouldn't come back nor would I recommend a friend to try it
