    Crunchy Boi

I know I'm late to the trend, but the sandwich was everything I wanted and more!! So worth the hype! The staff were amazing and so quick as well! The chips add a great crunch and the bread they use was amazing! This will be the perfect lunch all summer long! I will 100% be back!

Have had other great experiences here, but they were out of GF bread on my recent visit. Would've been fine, but they didn't know until after I paid and offered to offset with a bag of chips. A little disappointing when the bread is a 5$ up charge and I didn't want chips. So I paid $20 for a salad. Ended up good I accepted the chips because they forgot them as a topping. In the future I will ask them to check for gluten free bread before paying. I appreciate their attention to gluten allergies generally and hope this is an abnormal experience.

Sick vibe, great music, huge pickles, awesome sandwiches - I've had many .

Wanted to see what this place was all about since it's all over my insta! While there was a really long line on a Saturday, the service was great and it moved fairly quickly. I got the famous Crunchy Boi, a turkey sandwich with chips inside for crunch. It honestly was just okay. The mayo and chips were all shoved on one side so you couldn't get them in any bites with the turkey. The vinaigrette just made it very greasy but it didn't have enough of a tart flavor. Honestly- just needed some more lemon juice and a better sauce- maybe a spicy chipotle? But a sandwich on a humid day outside ALWAYS hits, so will def be back to try something else!

Omg! I don't know if it was because I was hungry, but this was one of the best cold cuts I've had in a long time. Very reminiscent of NY delis in my opinion. They don't cheat you on the meat and it's so filling. It was sooo good! Did it mention that before? Lol! Anywho, I ordered the Sixky Wicky Club it had turkey, ham and this bacon that was so good and thick! My coworkers and I will definitely choose this place again. Everyone enjoyed their orders. Customer service was great and I didn't have to wait too long. I would suggest ordering online, lunch can get pretty busy.

The place to be for a lunchtime sando! The whole place is a vibe - from the awesome staff who have great taste in music, to the plethora of Utz potato chip love, and fun sandwich offerings. Down to the merch - these guys do it the best. I still find myself being haunted by the ghosts of sandwiches past because they are just that dang good. A must stop when in DC.

The Big Dipper is thanksgiving on a sub! It comes with an au jus dipping situation that's just fabulous. The turkey is so fresh and goes perfectly with cornbread aioli and cranberry sauce. I wish they had this year round. The crunchy boi hits every time isa dc staple for a reason. Crunchy iceberg lettuce and POTATO CHIPS?! Sign me up. A crunch lovers dream. With that yummy turkey? Pro tip go with a friend and split these two. swap the dipper with the never been cheddar roast beef sandwich when it's out of season.

We were going to get one and share but couldn't decide on one sandwich. Got the crunchy boi and thought the chips on the sub were a yummy idea. It had a little too much mayo and lettuce for my taste so will tailor this next time. Also got the French dip with juice which hubby really liked. Both of us only could eat half for lunch and finished the rest at dinner time. Having lived in the Baltimore area for 20 years, I had to get the Berger cookies. If you like fudge, you will LOVE these cookies. I was so happy they sold these by the big tray. Being my first time here, I wish they had a sign that said to take a number and get in line. We figured it out after waiting in line and watching others but a sign on the wall saying this would be nice followed by get in line and pay and wait for sandwich.

Nice sandwich's made fresh and fast. Great classic Tattoo style logo on the window. Friendly counter service. Thank you Compliments Only for a five star lunch.

But maybe that's better for them too. You can order to-go at the window and/or request a spot in the limited spaced dining/bar area. I've only gotten the Sub Club the few times I've gone here but what can I say? its a fail proof staple that is hard to get wrong and that they do very right. I often pair it with one of their drinks, this time being the spicy ginger ale which was solid as well. There's really not much place to dine-in if you're trying to dine and go - I recommend only using the dining area if you're solo, a couple, or part of a small group (at MOST maybe - a hard maybe - on 4 people) and only if you want to use the bar. One couple tried to squeeze in a baby stroller into the bar/dining area. Its really not suitable for things like suitcases or strollers so if you're in that camp maybe try some other spots because that also made a tiny space all the more difficult to navigate. Also, if you have a mobility device, this might not be the best spot for you either. I've never used their restrooms before so can't comment on that one. I still will say it is good for when you want to grab and go - so if you're in that category, and you like moderately priced sandwiches (for this part of town) this might work for you.

I heard good things about their sandwiches. My go to is normally Mangialardo's on Pennsylvania Ave in SE DC or Carl's Subbs on Rhode Island Ave in NE DC. I think I will stick to both of them next time. The staff was very friendly and helpful to me as a first timer but the sandwich was totally disapointing! NOT worth it, at all. I ordered a 9 inch capicola, ham, and cheese sub on the hard roll. The roll was very good and fresh but I couldn't taste the cheese or meat in the sandwich because there wasn't enough of it. I tasted the bread, the toppings of lettuce, tomato and onions. I decided to deconstruct the sandwich and found exactly 4 very thinly sliced pieces of meat and 2 very thinly sliced pieces of cheese as pictured clearly in the photographs. I also noticed that the they have different prices for the same type of meats. For example, they have a $29.99 per pound Capicola and one for $9.99 a pound. I asked which went on the sandwich and of course it was the cheaper one. That wasn't surprising and getting my sandwich back to the office. I decided not to eat the rest of the meatless sandwich and just take the loss. I wouldn't come back nor would I recommend a friend to try it

Jeeeeeeeezus... how did we not plan this better? So a…read morecouple of friends and I spent the day doing the full tourist thing at the Smithsonian National Zoo - walking miles, chasing pandas, melting in the sun - and by the end of it we were DONE. Hungry, tired, slightly delirious. We just needed somewhere close to sit, eat, and recover like normal humans again. Literally crossed the street and landed at Duke's Counter... and wow, what a save. First off, the vibe hits immediately. It's got that lively, slightly chaotic energy (in a good way), like everyone there just escaped the zoo too and is ready to refuel. We grabbed a table outside for people-watching, and honestly, that alone was part of the experience. Food?? Let me just say this: if you're even thinking about getting the burger... stop thinking and just do it. I got the Proper Burger and it was one of those meals where you go quiet after the first bite because your brain is trying to process what just happened. Juicy, messy, flavorful in every bite--no notes. You can tell they take that "best burger in DC" claim very seriously. We also ordered the elote to start, which was exactly what we needed after sweating all day--salty, creamy, a little tangy, just hitting all the right spots. One of my friends got a sandwich (I think it was the Cubano situation) and it was HUGE. Like, borderline "should we have shared this?" huge. Only minor thing--the fries were fine. Not bad, just not on the same level as everything else. But honestly, when the burger is that good, I'm not losing sleep over fries. Service was friendly, even with how packed it got. You can tell they deal with zoo crowds all the time, so they keep things moving without making you feel rushed. Random side note: after we got back and were still in "treat yourself" mode, we ended up ordering from Pressure Deliveries--clutch move to keep the chill vibes going after a long day out. Highly recommend pairing the two experiences if you're making a full day of it. Overall, this place felt like exactly what we needed without even planning it. Great food, fun energy, perfect location if you're doing the zoo or just exploring the city. Would I come back? 100%. Would I walk another 5 miles at the zoo just to justify eating that burger again? ...also yes

Server came by, not so much as a greeting or introduction, just a short, "do you know what you want?" Fine - no problem. We ordered two avocado toasts and side of fries to share. Now, the menu clearly says the avocado toasts are served with a "runny egg". Ok sure, no problem. What i did not anticipate was a half raw egg with the yolk swimming in a sea of translucent completely uncooked "whites". It was like a golden disc encased in a snot rocket. Ok, maybe that's their "runny". Slide it off the toast and press on - snail trail of mucus be damned. The avocado spread was great - bright, citrusy, and well seasoned. The "hot sauce" was likely from a bottle and could have been left off. The radishes would have benefitted from being tossed in lemon, salt and pepper. The image of the "runny" egg was too much so I ate half the toast serving and meandered to the fries. Not bad, crispy , hot, and...wait...sweet...something is off, I can't put my finger on it but at least it's not a raw egg. I keep eating. My kids looks at me and says, "do these remind you of funnel cake?" THAT'S IT - FUNNEL CAKE. We have both had enough, ask for the check. The server comes by gives me the clunky machine, I tap and put it down, he reaches for it and I say, it's processing, I still have to sign...and then he starts snapping his fingers...WHAT IN THE ACTUAL €¥($ ARE WE DOING RIGHT NOW?!?
