The line can get pretty long, but you get through at a decent pace, I wouldn't say fast. Simple and straightforward ordering process, just remember what you ordered because they don't take names. I go between the Crunchy Boi and the Marisa Tomei Eats Free, which are both great. The Crunchy Boi is probably their most popular sandwich and it's lighter than you would think considering it's filled with potato chips. I think it's worth trying once. The Marisa Tomei, on the other hand, has never failed me. It's balanced with an absurd amount of arugula against the meat, and it's never dry. The portions are generous, like you could definitely split it into two meals, but they're not so heavy that you couldn't finish a sandwich in one sitting. read more

Have had other great experiences here, but they were out of GF bread on my recent visit. Would've been fine, but they didn't know until after I paid and offered to offset with a bag of chips. A little disappointing when the bread is a 5$ up charge and I didn't want chips. So I paid $20 for a salad. Ended up good I accepted the chips because they forgot them as a topping. Omg! I don't know if it was because I was hungry, but this was one of the best cold cuts I've had in a long time. Very reminiscent of NY delis in my opinion. They don't cheat you on the meat and it's so filling. It was sooo good! Did it mention that before? Lol! Ordered through Grubhub from the Dupont location and was happy to see that the sandwich was packaged well. They have good quality wrapping with a cool tape decal that ensures that the sandwich doesn't get too damp. The Crunchy Boi was what I ordered for $15 (upcharge on Grubhub + all the fees) which is turkey, provolone, chips, garlic mayo, pickles, onion, lettuce and oil + vinegar. Again as a jersey girl I appreciate shredded lettuce and oil and vinegar on a sandwich so this was truly the perfect combination of a sandwich. I wasn't blown away when I took my first bite. Maybe it needed a little more seasoning? Like oregano & pepper? The bread was pretty good, soft and held up well for all of the items inside. The sandwich was large enough to be able to enjoy half of it for lunch and the other for dinner. I'm not sure I would get this sandwich all the time because I wasn't blown away and it's pretty pricey when you order on a delivery app. I would however definitely indulge and get one on a warm summer day by the pool or for a picnic. When my sub arrived I was pleasantly surprised with the size and presentation. The sun was tightly packed, making it easy to eat. It was really good and filling, but not necessarily a sub that I would order again or one that ignited any cravings or obsession. The reason, I knock down 2 stars is the disproportionate amount of lettuce to the other veggies. There was literally 3 of each veggie slices (cucumber, tomato, peppers) hiding under the shredded ice burg lettuce and arugula. I ordered the crunchy boi, a pretty simple $15-turkey sandwich with provolone, potato chips, tomato, lettuce, mayo and oil/vinegar. Personally, it was a little dry, so I wish there was more oil and vinegar and mayo, and adding something like Italian seasoning and/or a hot sauce would've added to the flavor profile. I did like the addition of potato chips, which added an extra layer of texture. I also got the fruity pebbles cannoli for $4. While adding a visual appeal, I actually felt that the fruity pebbles overshadowed the flavor of the cannoli in a negative way. This sub shop in DuPont Circle has some tasty--if slightly overpriced--subs! The Big Dipper was a Thanksgiving feast, and the crunchy boi deserves its DC notoriety, although neither sub quite lived up to the price point, especially since Wawa is only a few blocks away. I do need to call out a service issue that really reduced my respect for this establishment. I came during the lunch rush and was happy to wait a few minutes; the ticket system wasn't working, so there was some confusion, but nothing huge. As I waited, a man came in to pick up an online order. As he looked at the bags waiting on the online order counter, he was accosted by an employee, who could not have been ruder! She kept repeating "can I help you? Can I help you?" while rolling her eyes. This man did not speak much English and was just looking to see if his online order was on the counter! AMAZING sandwiches. A great variety on the menu, decent pricing for DC and good serving sizes. A lot of times sandwiches fall short because they're not sauced or have the right texture--these are not those. They're popular for a reason. The bread is soft but sturdy, not too hard or crunchy to scratch up the top of your mouth and they go heavy on sauce which I love. I also love a thiiiiiiiin shreddy lettuce and a ton of it, so this place hits every time for me.
