Super basic. Not bad. Just surprisingly basic, given all the hype. I got turkey and provolone with mayo, tomato, and arugula. In comparison, the same sandwich at Capo Deli is delicious and all of the elements (including the seeded bread) work well together. AMAZING sandwiches. A great variety on the menu, decent pricing for DC and good serving sizes. A lot of times sandwiches fall short because they're not sauced or have the right texture--these are not those. They're popular for a reason. The bread is soft but sturdy, not too hard or crunchy to scratch up the top of your mouth and they go heavy on sauce which I love. I also love a thiiiiiiiin shreddy lettuce and a ton of it, so this place hits every time for me. HUGE HUGE Fan! Go about once per week and they are always great! Yesterday went in there and saw a tray loaded with what looked like spaghetti sauce. Asked the super nice guy at counter what it was and he said, "Oh those are our meatballs. Let me hook you up!" I'm really disappointed. I moved out of the area a few years ago and finally flew back for a few days and had to put this spot on my list. I drove an hour into DC just to try these subs, checking social media to ensure they would be open. Upon arrival at 11am I see they're closed with no signage or posting on social media. I waited for 30 minutes in hopes someone would show up to no regard. I was at the DuPont location and someone finally picked up and said they forgot to post on socials. It's just really disappointing since I was looking forward to this all trip and made the long drive down here just to turn around because someone forgot to inform people of closure. this place is legit!!!! i was not sure what i should get, so i asked the friendly worker, and he recommended me with the crunchy boi, so i ordered it for $16. I've been wanting to try compliments only for a while now and I'm glad we finally did! We came during lunchtime Saturday and it was very busy. We ordered online and picked up within 20 minutes. I got the famous crunchy boi and it was so good. The garlic mayo, shredduce, Turkey and pickles all made it delicious. I think going forward I want to try adding their hot peppers in it as well. Such a great little shop near Dupont Circle! I was lucky enough to be able to walk here from my office during a recent trip to DC for one of the best sandwiches of my life. I was intrigued by the Crunchy Boi, so it was an easy decision for me. I removed the cheese, and added hot peppers and pepperoncinis. This was almost perfect for me, but I should have swapped the garlic mayo for regular mayo as I'm not a huge garlic lover. They also have a great selection of chips and drinks to accompany your amazing sandwich. The interior is clean, and super welcoming. A little expensive, but the submarine sandwiches are delicious. I got the crunchy boi with salami, and my god the garlic mayo is delicious. The utz chips add an awesome texture (I recommend eating it quickly and not saving this one because the chips get soggy - dont make my mistake), and the bread is incredibly soft. My normal spots are in the sub 10 range, but the crunchy boi was around $16, which is pretty pricey for me, and not a place I would regularly start going go, but for special occasions? Hell yeah. In addition, the vibes I get from this place is great. It feels like a community shop that has regulars and "usual" orders. We saw this place on Tik Tok and decided to give it a chance especially since it had a gluten free options. I got the turkey Caesar which was incredible. They turned the roll into a garlic bread crouton by baking it and the cold and hot contrast of the bread and the cold Caesar salad was great. They toss the salad before putting it on the roll so everything is coated evenly. We also got the crunchy boy on gluten free bread. It was a $5 up charge for the gluten free roll but it was a big sandwich and we took half home so it was like two meals. The sandwich was good and the chips added a nice crunch factor. The service was okay. The whole operation is a little hectic. You are supposed to take a number but there is no sign that says that and the number machine is in the front so you don't really know if it's your first time. 3.5 stars - Got the crunchy boi but subbed the garlic mayo for hot chili aioli which was definitely the move. While the aioli was very unique and flavorful I just felt like everything else on it was eh. The chips felt like they were from a 99¢ bag and everything else I could've picked up at the grocery store.
