I'm in DC for my birthday and this was my first official food stop in the city; HipCityVeg did not disappoint. I started with the Philly cheesesteak; not a traditional Philly, but if you're open to a plant based twist it delivers that savory, cheesy comfort bite. Definitely worth trying if you love a good cheesesteak. The Smoky Sweet Snack Wrap surprised me in the best way; crispy, sweet, tangy, and packed with flavor. That little snack attack actually satisfies. The Wake & Bac'n sandwich was a standout; and they serve breakfast all day which is always a win. The JUST Egg was fluffy, the tempeh bacon had great texture, and the HipCity sauce tied everything together perfectly. Now let's talk about the Ziggy Burger; juicy, smoky, layered right. It gave everything it was supposed to give and then some. If you're searching for a solid vegan burger in DC, this needs to be on your list. I finished with the protein chocolate milkshake; smooth, rich, and not overly heavy. The perfect landing. It's also right across the street from Capital One Arena; which makes it an easy pre show spot if you're in the area. For my first DC food experience; this was a strong start.

Great service, no wait in line, and high-quality food. I got the cauliflower bites with a side of sweet potato fries. They didn't feel greasy or oily. The taste was superb. The sauces helped the dishes build character and flavor. There's not a whole lot of seating inside, and the restroom was blocked, but overall a solid lunch spot.

Nice fully vegetarian fast food. Good options, rotating menu, nice beverage options, clean. Tasty, fast. Delicious. A little pricey, but you always pay more for good food..

Entering HipCityVeg after getting pleasantly lost during my evening DC stroll, I realized I was really hungry. In that state, I could only stare dumbly at the menu while standing at the counter. Everything looked like exactly what I wanted to eat. But I finally settled on the smokehouse burger: a Beyond Meat patty topped with onion rings and smoked gouda with a golden BBQ sauce. Extremely satisfying. The employee at the counter recommended the Sriracha aioli to go with my sweet potato fries, and I'm glad she did. It's sharp and savory and adequately balanced the sweetness of the fries, which were nicely crispy. I topped it off with a glass of their refreshing turmeric-tangerine beverage. This place is vegan, fast-casual burgers done right.

Vegan fast food? Yes please! My friend and I split a couple of sandwiches, one crab cake and one chick'n. Both were fantastic! We actually got a Philly cheesesteak sandwich to go for the next day and it held up great too! Limited seating and quite busy, but overall really good!

man I love this place. as a lifetime vegetarian, I was thrilled when I found out about this in philly a few years back. then they opened in dc and I couldn't wait to try it out. Their veg nuggets are crispy, flavorful and come with the best dipping sauces - i recommend the siracha aioli and hipcity sauce. The cauliflower nuggets are also delightful and bring a whole new flavor profile to fried foods. The fries- reg and sweet potato- are always up to par and allow for two dipping sauces! I think the veggie burger could use some work, at least consistency-wise, but my parents both love the meatball sub and ziggy burger. The delivery and takeout is usually pretty fast, but I also like to order there because the people are typically pretty friendly. the storefront itself is pretty small, only 4-5 places to sit and eat, but it serves its purpose if you wanna stay there to chow down. All in all, I'm thrilled that there's such a great veg place in town to put in a good word for meat alternatives! if you're interested in going veg or vegan, or if you're just looking for some fast food that feels a bit healthier, look no further!

To be honest, I haven't much liked most of the mains that I have gotten here in the past. I gave the crabcake a try and it's pretty good. Absolutely drowned by sauce but other than that, tasty and a nice crispy exterior. It says crab on salad, but note that the salad is actually coleslaw

If you're looking for healthy vegan comfort food, look no further! HipCityVeg is a fast casual spot with delicious food that'll boost your mood. I've had their breakfast sandwiches and am eager to return. Service is friendly and helpful. Try it out!

It was nice to stop into HipCityVeg for lunch. I got a simple Chick'n sandwich but it was so delicious! This place is always on point for quick plant-based eating options! It was nice to eat here while I'm in town.

Pretty tasty! We went around late morning on a Monday so no wait to order even though the lady taking orders may have lacked a little patience.... food came out pretty fast. I don't remember the name of my wrap but it was good. I didn't hear much from my partner because he didn't put the burger down. Also got the kale lemonade which was good. When I'm in the area I'll definitely visit again.

I never got to try HipCityVeg in NYC before they closed, so I stopped in while visiting DC. The menu has burgers, sandwiches, nuggets, fries, shakes, and more, so they cover all the fast food bases but with everything vegan. We tried a bunch of different things, but my favorites were the nuggets (a little on the expensive side but excellent) and the ziggy burger (provolone, bacon, and special sauce). Their seasonal milkshake flavor when we visited was birthday cake, and this was a nice sweet treat. I wish they hadn't closed in NYC, because I really enjoyed our meal here.

HipCityVeg is located on 7th and H street. A Philadelphia based restaurant that has made its way to DC, just one block away from Chinatown. It is in a small building, however, it has lots of charm. It is an all vegan restaurant that serves burgers, sandwiches, nuggets, shakes, and sweet potato fries. They also offer gluten free options. I ordered the spicy crispy burger and the wait was not so bad. You will be happy to know that the chick'n is made of organic grains including pea protein and ancient grains. Once I received my order I could not wait to make it disappear. I took one bite and quickly took another. It was a juicy burger and the cilantro lime slaw was wickedly delightful. The toasted bun was nice; the pickles and aioli were appreciated. It was definitely satisfying on numerous levels. I devoured it like a lady. Next time, I have my eyes on the Philly cheesesteak, oh maitake, the legendary fries, and one of the seasonal shakes. Everything here is never not vegan and everyone-friendly. HipCityVeg is a solidddddddd place in DC especially for veggie/vegan people! The atmosphere is nice and modern and the staff we nice and knowledgeable. But I do with the space was ALOT less cold lol and more seating space But the menu is the star of the show as it offers innovative and delicious options that redefine what vegan cuisine can be. From the crave-worthy steak and cheese to the refreshing fruit punch and kale lemonade and the crunchy french fries. Each bite tasted like meat that and really wanted to try the other items on the menu. The commitment to sustainability it's also respectable, with eco-friendly packaging and and trying to use organic items. The only struggle is the high price but it was pretty worth it and is expected for DC Whether you're a dedicated vegan or just exploring plant-based options, HipCityVeg is a must-try

I want to go vegan, is this a good place to eat?

This is the perfect place to eat! All of their ingredients are vegan, and they have gluten-free options, too!

    What is the "chick'n"?

It is a chicken substitute. Most likely a soy protein or other vegan meat alternative. Their buffalo chick'n sandwich is SO good, you almost can't tell it's not meat.

Honestly we were so pleasantly surprised by how good the burgers are! I had the Capital Burger which had such incredible flavor and the burger itself is thick and juicy. Despite having just had a big dinner somewhere else, as I write this, my mouth is watering. My daughter had the wild mushrooms burger and she loved it -- the aioli had the perfect tang to go with the mushroom and Swiss, both burgers were cooked perfectly medium as requested. The old fashioned was just your typical old fashioned with a slice of candied bacon attached to the outside of the glass. We were hoping for something smokier and a little different but it was still a very good Old Fashioned. We shared the chocolate mousse and it was perfection. Yum! If I lived here this would be my new regular spot.

I could not identify or really pinpoint where the black truffles came in, but the beef was well seasoned. The additions were a dollar too expensive across the board so I skipped those. The fries were sort of stereotypical, nothing really fancy about those. I debated about having the truffle fries, but didn't really wanna pay the extra three dollars. Bless my server, he didn't know what black truffles were, either. The Reesie's peanut butter cup Skrewball milkshake was quite good. Good use of Skrewball. Could've done with a little more alcohol, but what a great combination. Good taste. Vanilla ice cream and peanut butter all the way through. My only .. concern.. were the pickles. There's this NoVA chain restaurant that serves POPCORN before the meal, which I think has to be the most depressing, unappetizing, lazy and cheap way to start a meal. Capital Burger servers sliced sweet pickles in a jar. That.. is a step up from popcorn, but not by much... If I was in the mood for a burger and boozy milkshake, this would be on the list, but not my first choice.

From start to finish, I have absolutely no negative feedback at all. 1. The Food Everything we ordered was completely divine! Here's the rundown: -Sandwiches: My husband got a Bogan Bun. My son a Mumbo Bun chicken sandwich and listen, he didn't speak a single word the entire meal because he was enjoying it so much! I ordered the Lucky Bun made with an Impossible patty. It was everything! Best I've had at a restaurant! In fact, my son, who loves beef burgers and claims he doesn't like plant based meat, ended up eating the rest of my burger! He tore that plant based meat DOWN! -Thick cut chips & Queso: The waiter let us know that their portion of fries (chips) could easily feed 3 to 4 people. He was not lying at all. The three of us shared one basket. I don't know if the sandwiches or the fries stole the show. These fries were seasoned to absolute perfection!!! SERIOUSLY! Not the typical sprinkle on top, but seasoned on every single side like someone picked up each fry and hand sprinkled each fry. Think I'm fibbing look at my pic. We ordered a side of queso for dipping and it was so good I wish I had some right now. If you're reading, hear me out Lucky Bun....add tortilla chips and queso to the menu please!!!! I would buy it just to scoop up that delicious cheese. -The Garlic Aioli: why am I highlighting a condiment???? Because!! lol!! It wasn't just standard mayo mixed with garlic powder. You could tell someone actually finely minced fresh garlic and herbs into it. It was so good I couldn't decide whether to dip my fries in the aioli or the queso! So that's why it's in my review! 2. Service The service was exceptional. There was no wait time at all. We walked straight in and were seated immediately. The food came out extremely fast which surprised us since we all ordered completely different proteins. They were speedy but all of our food arrived perfectly warm. The host, a slim gentleman, and our waitress, a lovely young lady rockin locs, were both incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. I'm telling you good service makes the food even better! 3. Restaurant Look and Seating The inside of the restaurant is fairly small, but they maximized the space with multiple tables and a full service bar. They also have outdoor dining and a front waiting area with outdoor furniture, which would be perfect for a nice summer day. You don't even have to ask me because you already know the answer. YES!!! The next time I am in DC, I will specifically make time to go there. Even if I'm not staying in the immediate area, I would gladly take an Uber just to eat here again and so will my family! Ok, maybe that's their "runny". Slide it off the toast and press on - snail trail of mucus be damned. The avocado spread was great - bright, citrusy, and well seasoned. The "hot sauce" was likely from a bottle and could have been left off. The radishes would have benefitted from being tossed in lemon, salt and pepper. You can get a single, double, or triple patty burger and add whatever toppings to it too. The jalapeño burger was the star of the show, it had a such a nice and spicy kick to it. I wasn't expecting much but this burger had HEAT! Another favorite was the Juicy Lucy. It was packed with grilled onions and the patty was stuffed with cheddar cheese. A super messy and cheesy option that was definitely worth every bite! I liked that Jon's Joint offered other options too such as loaded fries and fried chicken sandwiches. What I found unique is that for the loaded fries, you can get it with falafel and make it spicy! This time, they had run out of the falafel so I am excited to try it next time. If you're in Arlington and craving a casual burger spot, you need to go to Jon's Joint. You'll get quick service and a delicious meal!

Happed upon this place while driving. Was hungry, it was close, had good YELP rating, so I came in…read more Basic. Nothing at all spectacular. Cute posters. You can tell the owner is really into Superheroes. I ordered the grilled chicken. The good thing is that it is cooked to order. Loved that. Downside, no seasoning, AT ALL. This would be fine, I understand dietary considerations with sodium. What had me perplexed was they had NO PEPPER in the entire restaurant. I've NEVER been at a restaurant that didn't have any pepper. Plenty of salt, seasoned salt and even more salt. No pepper. Burgers seem to be popular. Wasn't very crowded, but seemed popular by locals. It was a "meh" for me. I do however really like that the food is cooked to order.
