    Bangkok noodles
    Ashley G.

Slow service considering that it wasn't all that busy. Food is good and the price point is surprisingly reasonable.

$7.65 for a box of "Thai" noodles that didn't even include a meat choice or tofu? Oh, because that's between $2 to $3.50 EXTRA pre-tax. And that excuse for a "sauce" that seems like it came out of a limited-edition Kraft Macaroni box?! What?! I ordered the Bangkok rice noodles - no drink, no side, no meat. Just peppers, tiny carrot slices, and the most watered-down "curry sauce" I've ever had in my life. Gave two stars just because the noodles were at least cooked right; service was quick and courteous; and they also offer a variety of salads, sandwiches, and soups I unfortunately don't think I'm interested in ever trying after this lackluster experience. With so many good food truck choices and much better chains in the vicinity (by 500 12th St. and the food truck lineup in front of one of the exits of LEnfant metro stop, by the Wells Fargo), I would *never* come back here. I legit felt robbed - my mediocre 'meal' couldn't have costed more than a dollar to make. I can't help but wonder... HOW do they make this terrible, barely-spiced *water* concoction they dare call red Thai curry sauce?! Out of powder? I think I actually insulted instant boxed Kraft Macaroni, as even that has more of a consistency/flavor (except for the minor "kick" of Brown Bag's which was probably due to red pepper flakes only). Eek.

    Fall Harvest Salad

Located in the L'Enfant Metro food court, this counter service place doesn't have a giant line all the time so I would recommend it if you want a salad, sandwich, soup, or pasta but don't want to wait elsewhere. I had the Fall Harvest Chicken Salad, which ended up being $12 after tax. I paid for extra blue cheese, but I definitely didn't get it. I really like the flavor and dressing (warning they use a lot of dressing) Salads are a big portion, so it makes for a filling lunch & I really liked my salad. Takes a couple minutes to wait for you food to be made though. It's a-ok!

I LOVE the Brown Bag! The establishment is clean and the service is usually fast. Initially I had trouble figuring out the computer ordering system but the cashier was more than helpful. Today I built my own salad with romaine lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, grapes, shrimp and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Usually I order the Harvest salad. The chocolate chip cookies are soft and fresh too! The best thing for me is how clean the serving area is kept and seeing the workers practice proper hygiene. Clean gloves and a neat work area. This is my new go to spot for lunch.

I don't normally buy lunch. Today I wanted something different and opted for Brown Bag. First time eating from here and was I pleasantly surprised how tasty their version of Pad Thai with rice noodles and I added chicken and shrimp as my protein. I also picked up their freshly made strawberry lemonade. If I decide to buy lunch again this will be my "go to" for fresh food.

I had never been before, and he was seemed curious to try, so we stopped by. They have outdoor seating, but there was no service at the time, which was too bad because the weather was outstanding. The host is said we could take drinks out there, but not food. So we just opted for the bar. Thankfully, they eventually opened one of the doors real wide so the outdoor air was coming in and that was nice. Happy hour was going until 6:30, and I have to admit that some of these happy hour prices are regular prices at other places XD, but remember it's the wharf. And there was a time when happy hour there wasn't even a thing. So I got a glass of wine and yellowtail tacos with salad. I wasn't expecting the yellowtail to be fried, but it was fine. The salad was way bigger than I thought it would be. It was good. My cousin got the burger and fries... I tasted it and I think I enjoyed the burger more, haha. That smoked cheddar, whew! I found the fries to be pretty average. The ambiance of the place is very nice and I could see myself returning. Some other people at the bar got some amazing looking dishes too, but I know they were expensive XD.

The employee at the counter recommended the Sriracha aioli to go with my sweet potato fries, and I'm glad she did. It's sharp and savory and adequately balanced the sweetness of the fries, which were nicely crispy. I topped it off with a glass of their refreshing turmeric-tangerine beverage. We grabbed a seat and did not wait long for our food to come out. I really enjoyed my burger and scarfed it down! I paid for sauces, which were tiny and super overpriced. Hubs enjoyed his cheesesteak but he prefers meat. I had a bite and thought it was really flavorful and very closely tasting like the real thing. I noticed later this is a chain, which is pretty cool. I think the prices were pretty steep so I might skip on the fries next time. The food could have been warmer as well. Definitely worth a visit and will most likely be back when in DC again.

However, it didn't live up to the expectations. Upon arriving, my husband and I were shown to a table against the wall that had been set up under some kind of ledge that might normally be used as a bar. I would have had this ledge leaning up against me so I asked if we could move to another table. We were seated at a table in front of the door and the hostess stand, so it was cramped. The tables were extremely packed, I had to use a plastic chair, and the table was wobbly so we had to fix that as well. The day had been a little warm so the door was propped open but when we got to the restaurant, it was really chilly. Since we were right by the door, I asked the waitress if we could shut the door. The waitress said she had to ask the manager and the manager came back and said no. There was a couple next to us who said that they also asked to close the door and the manager said no. My husband ended up getting up and was like Yo dog, it's 40 degrees outside, close the door. They ended up closing the door so like a little sexist? Why will the close a door when a man asks? The waitress asked if we wanted still or sparkling water, and we opted for still. You can imagine our surpris when we found out that we were charged $8.00 for water because we did not specify "tap." We didn't discuss it with the waiter but I thought that was idk, kind of shitty? Everyone knows that you don't pay for the still water We started with the grilled octopus which was ok and we ordered two of the bruschettas. I want to clarify, this meant that we literally got one of each type of bruschetta. I thought we would get like a small plate of both but it was literally two pieces of bread for $12 each. Yikes. I got the short rib pasta which was fine. The sauce wasn't very smooth. My husband got a panini that was also fine but certainly not worth the price tag. For the trouble with asking to move the table, the wobbly furniture, the water, and the door issue, not the best. Won't be returning!

The ravioli was too perfectly cut, I'd e or y house made for $26 but again it's tourist spot. The wife loved her short rib ragu with meatballs. Which was the same price as my brought in ravioli.
