I hate to give up on Pow Pow, but I have never received my food on time this entire year. The owners don't seem to want to pay to employ enough staff necessary to prepare the food, so even if you order 45-60 minutes in advance, your food will always be at least 30 minutes late. it is rare to see more than one person preparing food at any time. I always feel bad for them, but clearly the owners do not. Please hire and pay more people to do the work. Your customer service and customer experience will improve, and that will increase business! But your austerity in staffing and pay has substantially harmed your customers' experiences. You can do better. The food is great, but service is completely unreliable. Went to this spot with a vegan friend and I was pretty disappointed. The appetizers tasted good, but they were SO greasy. I had grease running down my fingers. The sauce that came with them was actually quite good though! For the mains, my Mongolian beef was too dry and lacked flavor. Her noodles + fried chicken were pretty decent. We both ordered coffee. I had an ube flavored one and couldn't really taste the flavor, and she had a strawberry matcha but couldn't taste the matcha at all. I'm a consistent fan of pow pow! It's such a treat for vegans --fast casual food options inclusive of many different veggies. I typically get the chickn fingers and I like all three sauces--the firecracker being my favorite. They are very crispy and texture is very similar to meat. I've had some of the bowls, like General tso, but I don't particularly like their rice, so I always opt for salad instead. The Dan Dan carbonara is scrumptious. The cashew base sauce is creamy but not too heavy and the plant based pork meat is a nice complement. I also enjoy sides like the brussel sprouts, broccoli and trolley fries. The fried cauliflower has a bit too much breading for me. They have great happy hour deals and food comes out relatively fast. Staff are always friendly! read more

Pow pow had a sushi pop up with a curated menu and in house chef rolling each roll fresh. The vegan options extend beyond just sushi with Asian fusion flavored entrees including chck'n proteins, tofu, veggie stir fry's, and soups. The staff is very friendly and seemingly on a first name basis with the regular patrons. The interior is pretty quaint with a mix of bar height seating and a few tables at booths. This is the POW POW location I prefer. I remember getting the trolley fries from here long ago during Covid times and being blown away. Then I went to the other location (Franklin Square) and was underwhelmed by the lack of flavor, laziness and just dousing of Gochujang on it. Anyway back to this review. I got: -The *New* Dumplings Kare Kare which were steamed dumplings in a peanut coconut stew. It was very flavorful, creamy, and delightful. Just loved it. -The *New* chef special Hoisin steak carbonara which was pretty awesome. I am surprised with the texture of the steak made from mushroom root- it was very nice and meaty although I don't know what real meat to compare it to because it was unique on its own. It was mushroom meat! The carbonara pasta could have used some salt but I enjoyed it. It had a nice creamy flavor. -The Chimi Chimi pow pow: the egg roll stuffed with banana and dairy free Nutella with an agave honey dip. How good can an eggroll be? No big deal right? Pow Pow is a super cute Vegan restaurant that we stumbled across while at the Marriott Marquis. Although maps says its a bit away, it was a perfect quick walk around town to get there. Once you arrive, everything is automated, which makes it easy to order - if you know what you want. We were definitely a bit confused because the whole menu isn't available for lunch - but we didn't know. The other oddity is that you have to get any beverages at the counter, so we had to wait / pay twice. But, the food is excellent - I ended up with the firecracker bowl and it was not super spicy yet still full of flavor. Pow Pow serves up fun, creative Asian-fusion food that is 100% vegan and 100% GOOD! They have 2 locations in the city, both which are fast-casual style: order at the kiosks and grab it when you're ready or carryout/delivery. The menu has a ton of unique items that pack flavor-the ONLY thing I am disappointed about is that they do not have alcohol...I refreshing cocktail would be amazing with my meal. There are a lot of things worth trying, but I think our favorites were the Chick'n Fingers (get the Korean BBQ!), General's Chick'n (we wish the chicken was in chunks not cubes if that makes any sense but it was still good), and probably our biggest hit, the Trolley Fries. The fries were so flavorful and I see why they are one of the most popular things on the menu. PowPow was one of the first places I ordered for delivery in quarantine and I was so impressed! First, I have to admit I'm kind of a skimmer when it comes to reading details and I honestly did not know this place is all veggie. I ordered the Sichuan Dumplings, Pow-Tine, and Fried Chicken Fried Rice. The Pow-Tine arrived safely vented to avoid getting soggy (kudos to the GrubHub driver) and was my favorite of all the dishes. I love this Asian take on poutine. The dumplings did arrive a bit soggy but that's to be expected. If you refry them a little, they crisp up easily. Dumplings were also pretty tasty. The chicken fried rice was interesting. Again, I failed to realize that this would be fake chicken and I'm not really a fan of fake chicken so I wasn't crazy with the texture. Right when I type it, it makes me confirm that there's no sense in choosing greens. I'm not at Pow Pow for a salad, I'm here for Asian fusion, complete with more rice please! The Trolley Fries are a must - who doesn't like fries? I adore them, and here, they're loaded with so many amazing toppings, it's a meal in and of itself, but again, order something else so you don't feel sad like you missed out on something. My favorite part of the fries is the kimchi and seaweed sprinkled atop and scallions - makes for fantastic flavor profile for the palate! They have "classic" choices like fried rice and egg rolls, but my favorite is still the fries. Opt for the dessert egg roll for something a little different from the usual egg roll! Their chicken is plant-based, but you wouldn't know it. Partially from all the sauces and flavors, but the texture here for their food gets past any concerns for "vegan and plant-based is bad." Stigma be gone! Since I am stricken with guilt in just eating fries, my go-to combo is the fries with a Purity Bowl. Ha ha. So, it's not super bad for me, but makes my mouth happy. I had one of my best experiences at Pow Pow yesterday. This is my favorite made-to-order vegan spot and I am here a few times a month. My go-to is the Tokyo Roboto bowl with half greens and half rice. I also get two orders of Sichuan Dumplings fried because I am greedy and they are so darn good! (I mean seriously, I'm addicted.) My friend ordered Miso Soup, Chimi Chimi Pow Pow (a desert fried egg roll), and Fried Chicken Fried Rice. I did take out so we could eat at home and everything was great! The person who took my order was friendly and patient. The food came out in about 15 minutes and tasted fresh and delicious. I will of course be back in a couple of weeks but wanted to share my amazing experience in the interim. Previous vis Still one of my favorite vegan spots. I'm here once a week and it can be hit or miss with them getting your order right/ordering the same item and having it come out like it did before. Overall, the staff seem to care about the food they are serving. Hands down my favorite vegan place anywhere. I've been here a handful of times pre pandemic but the first time in a while I've been able to make it down here. Ordering and pick up was fairly easy. Placed an order through ChowNow and you have the option for regular pickup or curbside. We luckily found parking right on the corner of 13th (where you would go for curbside). All you have to do is walk up to the table at the door, get their attention and give your name. We ordered the Trolley Fries, Taiwanese Fried Mozzarella Croquettes, and two K-town bbq chicken bowls (yeah super hungry at the time). The trolley fries are something I'm familiar with. The container of fries was huge and had a lot of kimchi and different sauces (cashew cheddar, Korean ketchup, and some kind of mayo). We also added the Taiwanese fried chicken. We loved it but only small issue was it was hard to mix because it was a smaller Chinese food box. The croquettes were amazing, they tasted almost identically to actually fried mozzarella balls and the Korean ketchup took it over the top. The k-town bbq bowls were huge (we got the regular sized). Loved the "chicken" here, perfect sweet and sour with the Gochujang. Loved the pineapple kimchi, gave the bowl tang. The quinoa and rice portion as well, it definitely filled me up. I will definitely be back very soon so I can try some of my favorites (Pow-tine, firecracker fingers, the Natalie Porkman bowl, etc.). When you enter the atmosphere is very quiet you are not graded by anyone there are screens to order from. Personally, I did not like this. I enjoy human interaction. I enjoy asking someone about items on the menu before I order and getting their opinion, but we followed the guidelines and ordered via the computer and when we received our food, I was quite disappointed. We actually ordered two orders of the buffalo "chicken" egg rolls. These items are not edible and should not be considered food. They are severely undercooked inside and out. The inside is absolutely disgusting. It is like a glob of goo in your mouth. There is no texture variance. It feels like you're eating something raw, and in addition to it being a glob of goo, there is no flavor inside all of the flavor exists in the sauces they provide on the side that you have to pay extra to receive enough of. Since we ordered two orders of the really disgusting undercooked things they call eggrolls, we knew immediately that we were not going to want the second order as we could not finish the first because it was too disgusting and foul to eat. The staff was kind enough to exchange our second order for the fried cauliflower, which I highly recommend. The french fries were also another amazing menu item which I again highly recommend. The Rocky Mountain soda company is disgusting for lack of a better word and I do not recommend any of their overpriced sodas. We tried the root beer, the ginger beer and the grape and they were all absolutely disgusting. The grape tasted like medicine. The ginger did not taste like ginger beer and the root beer had a lot of mintiness or something to it. Overall, we were very disappointed with the sodas which was really upsetting because they were very expensive too.
