Right now, I'm taking a break from meat so I've been exploring vegan options. I've heard great things about Everlasting Life and I happened to be in the area - so this was my opportunity to try them out. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the nice staff. They allowed me to sample food and answered any questions I had. I ordered the maple wings, cheesy cauliflower, kale and mac n' cheese. I couldn't wait to get home and dive in. Everything was delicious, next time instead of getting the cheesy cauliflower, I'll get the sweet potatoes. Lastly, I love the purpose and mission of this black owned business. The owner is dedicated to providing healthy food options in urban areas and I love this. Can't wait to go back!

This is by far the best vegan restaurant I have ever had! Great customer service and delicious food! It was our first time so we tried a lot of stuff. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. The "meats" actually had the same texture as meats. Must have: - Sausage etouffee with rice - classic mac and cheese - cauliflower - plantains - Lemon pepper wings - fish pattie Take out only but it's great so I can pig out in private!

Do you miss eating "wings on the bone"?

I ordered mashed potatoes, cornbread, the wings, a slice of chocolate peanut butter cake. It came to be $20.xx, a little expensive for the presentation, but I am happy this was vegan food and the restaurant industry is struggling during COVID, so I get it. It's a small place, so it seemed like it was built for take-out. I ate it on the metro home and I was happy that after almost a decade without eating real wings, I was able to get down and dirty with these "drumsticks." I felt like a natural. They did an excellent job with the texture of the "chicken" and the seasoning was spot on. It felt nearly real, far enough that I could not be concerned with fake blood or veins, but close enough that I felt accomplished when the stick was eaten clean. The employee was nice. I would visit again, this won't be a weekly stop-in for me.

Looking for some guilt free soul food? I got a spot for you @eliferestaurant will feed your heart, soul, and mind with hearty, savory, healthy, all vegan food. They have locations at 1231 Good Hope Rd S.E., Washington D.C.( inside the Anacostia Arts Center), 341 Cedar St., N.W. Washington D.C., and the location,I went to, at 9185 Central Ave., Capitol Heights Maryland. This spot has a diverse menu that rotates daily. For instance, on Monday they'll have Chicken fillet, varying flavors of drumettes, Curried chicken, spaghetti casserole, rosemary tofu, fried chicken patties, seaweed wrapped fish patties, and original or cashew Mac n cheese, as entrees for the day. They also have rotating sides like Kale greens, collard greens, candied yams, battered cauliflower, green cabbage, beans, and brown rice on their menu for Monday's. Again their entree menu changes daily, however their sides menu generally stays the same, and I see why with their deliciously dope dairy free, Mac n cheese's they have!! I ordered from their Wednesday menu and got the eggplant Parmesan entree (pictured $15.50) with their signature original Mac n cheese, and yams. The entree left more to be desired since I am a eggplant enthusiast. Their Yams and Mac have always been delectable, and if you have not tried these items before...they are a must have. I also got their infamous maple drumettes (pictured $5). Geesh Louise these things are tasty!! Rich in flavor and I swear you wouldn't know they weren't real chicken!! Last but not least I had their vegan chocolate cake (pictured $5). It was moist, tasteful, and dense with chocolate!! Their customer service was attentive, and welcoming, I had not one issue at all, although I wasn't in this particular spot during peak hours. Parking was kind of rough at this location via construction happening in the area. Overall this spot is a must go to...consistently!! That's it. **These establishments are Covid compliant**. #foodie #vegan #healthylifestyle #dmvfoodie #veganmacandcheese #everlastinglife #firstbite #goodeats #cheapeats #blackowned #yams #eggplant #desert #vegandrumsticks #maryland #pgcounty #resturants #bigschlimsreviews

Pot roast over mashed potatoes, cashew Mac, greens

So great that the Anacostia Arts Center has found another vegan restaurant to serve the local community. I was so excited to hear about Everlasting Life moving in! They have a pretty expansive menu and what they offer changes from day to day. An Entree and two sides is $11 and the portions are pretty generous. They offer two kinds of mac and cheese-- chickpea and cashew. The chickpea is very reminiscent of the NuVegan mac and cheese, and the cashew one is my favorite. The cashew mac has a slightly smokey flavor and is more unique that other vegan macs I've tried. I also tried the vegan pot roast over mashed potatoes, and it was good but not necessarily something I would crave again. There's two different greens, collards and kale. I'm not sure which I tried but it had a bit of a funny taste to me. I tried my friend's jerk chickn and it was delicious! There were three different flavor chickn drummies that looked tasty and I look forward to trying them as well. It was so hard to not get a dessert when there's so many pie and cake options but I resisted, hoping that they stick around and I'm able to slowly work my way through the whole menu :)

Oh my God! This place is sooooooo good. I've heard about ELife from a coworker and decided to drop in in. I'll for sure be back. And the service was good to. Ebony was super helpful in helping me decide on what to get.

Great vegan food and a nice vibe. The Art Center that it's in is really interesting to walk through and eat your food.

We started with olives, pickled peppers, garlic bread, and fingerling potatoes. The olives were great because each one tasted distinct, and the peppers had a lot of flavor. The garlic bread was crispy and went well with the neutral olive oil. The potatoes were crispy, salty in the right way, and came with a good aioli. I also liked that they were pre-cut or slightly smashed, which felt like a thoughtful touch. The steak with noodles was excellent. It was more like tender beef than a traditional steak, but the marinade was so flavorful. The lemongrass, garlic chili, basil, and Thai flavors worked really well, and the sauce was amazing without being overwhelming. The whole fish was my favorite dish. It was tender and fresh inside, but incredibly crispy outside. You could actually hear the crunch when cutting into it. The tomatillo salsa was genius, fresh, a little grassy, and perfect with the lightly salty, buttery rice. The salmon with yogurt and pepper was also very well done and had great crunch. The fried oyster was delicious too, with cornbread and a beautiful presentation on rocks. The only dish that felt a little plain was the shrimp with Thai curry, which was fine but not as special as everything else. Service was great, the ambiance felt fancy, and overall I loved this place. The prices are upscale, but the food is incredible.

Honestly, the curb appeal was missing something. Although my navigation announced my arrival, the actual restaurant was not visually clear to me. The location sits on the corner of the block, but the exterior décor is a bit on the darker side, which is probably why I initially overlooked it. Once I entered, the vibe felt warm and welcoming. The host pointed out my business partner, and our waitress, Saniyah, immediately introduced herself and kindly took my drink order. Due to the business nature of the meeting, I didn't take much time to review the menu. However, both my business partner and Saniyah recommended the Fried Chicken sandwich, it was well worth the recommendation. That sandwich, coupled with a side salad and their balsamic dressing, made for a perfect lunch combination. Saniyah was very attentive, the food was great, and the vibe was smooth and relaxing, quite suitable for a business meeting or lunch with friends or colleagues. Aside from the parking situation, B&P Anacostia is a great option for meetings or dining in the area. Recommendation level: If you are comfortable with the Anacostia area, I definitely recommend B&P. Note: My apologies for not having photos of the food. I was there on business and did not intend to post a review. However, Saniyah deserves a positive mention & Yelp truly helps drive business.

While I was hungry, my objective was to earn points more than to satisfy a craving. This place is inside the Whole Foods in Navy Yard, which made it a tad confusing to find. Before I ordered, I asked the person who worked there what her favorite burger was. She looked at me and said she doesn't eat here. Haha. I ordered a cheeseburger. It took longer than I think a cheeseburger should, but I suppose I should be happy they make things as they are ordered. I paid for my burger, paid for my groceries, and then ate at the dining area in Whole Foods. The burger was fine. It didn't blow my mind away but I wouldn't say it was bad either. I think the "fake meat" industry has already peaked and while more people are becoming vegetarians and vegans, people are questioning the artificial flavors and chemicals that go into lab-grown meat and everyone is questioning the higher price for these items relative to actual meat. Already, the Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods brands are struggling. All this to say, it was a decent meal but I don't know if I'd go out of my way for this again. If I'm going to have a burger, I prefer real meat.

This was my first visit to Kitchen Savages. I had tried walking in without a reservation once before on a Saturday evening, and there were no seats available. So my first recommendation would definitely be to make sure you make/have a reservation because they do get busy (understandably so)!! Overall our brunch experience was good! I started off with the Mimosa Sampler for my drink order; I wanted to try the different flavours that were on offer. These were nice, but I'd hoped the presentation would have been a little better and the mimosas not as heavy with the juices. The food was great! Super tasty and packed with flavour. My husband had the Peach Cobbler French Toast and I ordered the 'Create-Your-Own' pasta. I requested it with salmon, shrimp and spinach, but it only came with the shrimp and spinach. Such a shame, because I can imagine the salmon would have made the dish EVEN better. When the bill came, it had the salmon (which I never got) listed on it - after pointing this out, the server checked with the kitchen, and kindly removed it from the bill. Overall, I would say that we really enjoyed brunch here. I will definitely be back in the future to try the main dinner menu & hopefully there'll be no mixups with what I order and what I get .
