I came here because it's part of the Dining Rewards Program where I can earn additional airline miles on top of the points I would typically get paying with my credit card. While I was hungry, my objective was to earn points more than to satisfy a craving. This place is inside the Whole Foods in Navy Yard, which made it a tad confusing to find. Before I ordered, I asked the person who worked there what her favorite burger was. She looked at me and said she doesn't eat here. Haha. I ordered a cheeseburger. It took longer than I think a cheeseburger should, but I suppose I should be happy they make things as they are ordered. I paid for my burger, paid for my groceries, and then ate at the dining area in Whole Foods. The burger was fine. It didn't blow my mind away but I wouldn't say it was bad either. I think the "fake meat" industry has already peaked and while more people are becoming vegetarians and vegans, people are questioning the artificial flavors and chemicals that go into lab-grown meat and everyone is questioning the higher price for these items relative to actual meat. Already, the Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods brands are struggling. All this to say, it was a decent meal but I don't know if I'd go out of my way for this again. I tried their take on a strawberry milkshake and the consistency was more water than anything else. In addition, their milkshake tasted off. The patty melt did not wow me, so the food disappointed me. When I tried to place my order, there was a crowd of customers waiting for their orders - some waiting as long as 20 minutes. This is my new favorite restaurant from DC and I can't stop ordering from here! They basically sell plant based versions of fast foods. I tried a couple of things from PLNT burger and my favorites were the chili cheese fries and the spicy chicken sandwich. The chili is very sweet and is a nice balance to the fries. The spicy chicken sandwich is moderately spicy and super flavorful, and the texture is just like chicken! It is also located inside of a Whole Foods, which I love. Today I didn't have any issues with placing my order (probably because I did it from my laptop). Anyhow, I ordered the PLNT Cheeseburger and a S'Mores OATasty. After fixing the shake the cashier tells me they didn't have anymore grilled marshmallows (which was the only reason why I ordered that shake in particular). After an afternoon of helping friends move into their apartment, this quick meal was satisfying. My friends who are huge meat eaters actually enjoyed this too. This was their first time trying plant protein too. If there are a few things I would suggest, it would be don't be afraid of spice! :) The Spicy Chik'n Funguy while it had the crispy element; needed a little more of the spicy marinade to boost it! Otherwise I liked it. The veggie chili was okay; a little sweet for my liking. It reminded me of sloppy joes from when I was a kid; more so than chili. This is a sad case because I used to LOVE Plnt Burger. Their food USED to be amazing. No longer. And, as I've told their customer service folks twice now, to me this signals the beginning of the end. They continue to change their recipes and food quality continues to decline. Today was the THIRD time in a row I've gotten crappy food. Last time was a cheese burger and fries. The burger was completely cold and congealed and disgusting (partly due to the fact that both the cook and the cashier were too busy on their mobile phones and ignoring customers). Plnt Burger has changed their fries numerous times. They used to be good. They are now the worst kind of hollow processed grease sponges. They are so greasy they are pretty much inedible. Today I just got a Save the Bay Fish Fillet. Again, they have changed the recipe. I discovered the sandwich is now, rather than one large very good fish fillet, two small triangular fillets. They looked liked they'd come from the frozen foods section at Whole Foods. And, maybe they did?? Perhaps Plnt Burger was out of the fish fillet today and improvised. In any event, at a price of $13!!!! (OUTRAGEOUS!) The sandwich sucked. Luke warm. I could have just gotten some frozen crap from the freezer and made my own at home. Plnt Burger has REALLY DECLINED in service and especially in quality of their food, while prices are astronomical. I cannot and do not recommend this place. Good luck staying in business in the very discerning DC market. There is just too much competition here for quality, service, and pricing this poor. read more

Definitely more than hype! Just burgers and fries inside the Navy Yard Whole Foods, the specialty burgers like the one pictured below aren't much different than if you were to add on bacon or vegetable for about the same price. They make everything made to order, and make sure you include the fries. The crispy herb fries were exactly that and weren't too oily at all. You can choose from a selection of four dipping sauces, I went for the spicy aioli which could have used slightly more zest but would be fine as a condiment on one of their burgers. I truly wish they'd come up to PA, or one of our local Whole Foods locations would consider it! read more

I loved this place!!! First of all I ordered on the app (the first time you order you get $5 off, which is a great deal!). As I was walking up to the counter my meal was ready within I would say a minute. I literally went inside as soon as I hit send on the app. I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich that was made from king oyster mushrooms and wow! It looked, smelled, and tasted like a real Buffalo chicken sandwich. They use follow your heart cheese (pepper-jack) and I was a bit apprehensive in having them put the cheese on it because I don't like vegan cheese, but this one was surprisingly delicious. It actually tasted like real cheese (shocker I know!). I throughly enjoyed the sandwich but I will say it was slightly on the salty side. The fries are just weird! I love French Fries and these weren't terrible but they also weren't amazing. The flavor was interesting and I honestly could have done with out them. Next time I will try the little blooming onions they make (even though it is a major surcharge). All in all if you are looking for authentic fast food but a vegan version this is the place for you!! I feel like the amazing-ness of this place hasn't really caught on yet, but it will! I'm so glad PLNT Burger is finally in DC, so I don't have to go all the way to Silver Spring. With that being said, prices here are more expensive than I was expecting. The burgers range $7-10 depending on the toppings. I got the PLNT Cheeseburger, which came with Follow Your Heart "American cheese", lettuce, tomatoes, pickes and PLNT sauce. I've had Beyond burgers previously and thought they were just okay (and hated the smell) but PLNT Burger makes them taste really good. I think it tastes pretty close to beef, though I don't actually like beef, but the toppings and condiments are what really enhances the burger. One negative though is that the cheese got stuck to the wrapper. There may have been more cheese on the wrapper than the burger. The sweet potato fries are pretty nice, nicely seasoned and well crisped. I enjoyed them even though I actually didn't order them and am not typically a huge fan of sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries cost $4.25. The soft serve was amazing! I'm not a huge strawberry ice cream person but I think it tastes great swirled in with the chocolate. Because it's made with oat milk, it's nice and thick and creamy. The oat milk also adds a natural sweetness. The price is the only downside though, you get a tiny cup for $4.25. Perhaps next time I'll just pay the extra dollar for the large size. The only two toppings were chocolate and rainbow sprinkles, which I felt were overpriced at $1. You can get a whole container of sprinkles for a dollar. Note: PLNT Burger is located inside Whole Foods so there's just a small counter, not nearly as large as the original location. read more

Love this place! I've tried almost everything on the menu. My favorite is the cheese burger and fries. It's simple but delicious. The blooms are great with the bloom sauce. I had never seen a tiny onion blossom before and that's exactly what it is! Fried to perfection! The "chicken" sandwich is my least favorite but not bad at all. Love that this is part of Whole Foods - so, you can shop for your groceries, contemplate what it will take to then transform all those lovely raw ingredients into a series of delightful meals in the coming days, but feel ecstatic that today, one of your meals will be a plant-based combination of tantalizing flavors that you just don't want to be bothered to create yourself. The food here is simple because it's comfort food. Burgers and brats based on gluten-free plant-based substitutes that could fool the best of them. The fixings on the snacks, though, that's what really gets me - the sauces, oh yes, so good. When you look at the size of the sauce with the fries, you think: that's not enough. However, there sauces are potent and go a long way. You will be just fine. If you're a sauce-a-holic though, you may want to order extra sauce. I don't have a favorite sauce, they're all delicious. I like the Bloomies sauce for the onion bloomies, of course, but I also don't mind just some classic ketchup with them. The sweet potato fries have the slight sweetness that makes my palate smile - so, I really like the contrast with the maple mustard. The herb fries- get whatever you want with those, because, they're potatoes, which go well with all sauces! Plain burgers are ok, but cheeseburgers are better. They have the sausage/ Brats, too, which are delicious as chili cheese. They have plain chili for a wonderful winter warm up. The best still, though, is having soft serve ice cream in the summer, or a milk shake - the size seems small, but really, it's perfect. They have combo deals, too, if you know you'll be ordering more than one item anyhow, so you can save some dough (for ordering more sauce?). The folks here are always nice and helpful. I feel happier when I get food from here than from many other establishments. If you order ahead in the app, they have some great rewards that will pop up for you. Finally had the best vegan burger ever, and I would gladly encourage carnivores to try it out. This burger IMO is not about convincing one to be be vegan, which I am not, it's just nice to have an alternative when I don't want red meat or can't handle/want to avoid dairy cheese temporarily. What I think really sets the patty up for success is the meat-like texture (Beyond Burger) & the superb seasoning on it. The PLNT sauce and vegetable toppers (tomato, green leaf lettuce, pickles, caramelized onion), & Shmidt's potato bun made the whole thing come together just right. I'll admit, the cheese on the burger is one my absolute favorite vegan cheeses (Follow Your Heart) but when it was melted on the burger I could barely taste it. When I went to taste a piece of it solo, I still got nothing. The herb fries are the truth! I would stop by just for them if I wasn't in the mood for faux meat. Don't skip the dipping sauces: garden herb (vegan mayo based, the only savory non-sweet sauce), maple mustard (made w/ whole grain mustard), sweet chili (more sweet than spicy, a top pick), bloomies sauce (in-house pick, the sweetest of the bunch). Just to think that plnt burger number 1 employee at this location (in my eyes) is no longer here is devastating. I was so happy to see her I even brought a gift back for her from my trip to Monaco. I'd been wanting to try PLNT Burger for a while, and finally committed thanks to the Ubereats BOGO deal. I got the cheeseburger and the mushroom bacon burger. Both were great, but the mushroom bacon burger was AMAZING. One burger is def filling enough, but I don't regret getting both. Also, if you're a vegetarian/vegan, you may be wondering this compares to another veg standby, HipCityVeg. PLNT Burger is like the cheat food version of HCV. While HCV is not exactly 100% healthy, it doesn't feel like I'm being that unhealthy when I eat there. PLNT Burger isn't a grease trap or anything like that, but it is way closer to a traditional indulgent burger spot (and would likely be great hangover food). It's not trying to be health food, and that's not a bad thing. So on a day where I'm trying to be healthy-ish, I'll stick with HCV. What a surprise to find this place in the Whole Foods right across from my hotel! It's tucked back a ways in the store so there was a tiny quest to find it. Comical that they place it next to a bunch of grab and go more meaty food. I tried the BBQ bacon burger and herbed fries. My order was ready in less than 10 minutes and the burger was quite good!
