Unassuming and delicious! Food - everything we got was cooked well and large portion size. Calamari was fresh and crispy. Duck Ragu was interesting. Squid ink pasta was prob my favorite great flavors. The new sweet potato appetizer was refreshing and birthday slice a nice surprise. Service- they took great care of us. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and restaurant concepts. The chef came and chatted with us. Drinks- espresso martini was nice and wine solid Vibes- decor was simple and classy. Nice patio on wharfs Main Street. Happy hour- solid food and drink offerings at a decent price

We went here for breakfast while staying at the hotel. We had breakfast included with our stay, which has a slightly reduced menu but covers most of the main things on the full menu. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and coffee. Both were ok but not my favorite and not the most flavorful. The atmosphere is nice and comfortable though.

It was a beautiful day on the wharf, and my cousin and I were hungry. I checked Yelp to see if they were any ongoing happy hours, and this place crossed my radar. I had never been before, and he was seemed curious to try, so we stopped by. They have outdoor seating, but there was no service at the time, which was too bad because the weather was outstanding. The host is said we could take drinks out there, but not food. So we just opted for the bar. Thankfully, they eventually opened one of the doors real wide so the outdoor air was coming in and that was nice. Happy hour was going until 6:30, and I have to admit that some of these happy hour prices are regular prices at other places XD, but remember it's the wharf. And there was a time when happy hour there wasn't even a thing. So I got a glass of wine and yellowtail tacos with salad. I wasn't expecting the yellowtail to be fried, but it was fine. The salad was way bigger than I thought it would be. It was good. My cousin got the burger and fries... I tasted it and I think I enjoyed the burger more, haha. That smoked cheddar, whew! I found the fries to be pretty average. The ambiance of the place is very nice and I could see myself returning. Some other people at the bar got some amazing looking dishes too, but I know they were expensive XD.

After visiting the tidal basin to enjoy the cherry blossoms, we walked to the Wharf area and stopped by Willowsong for some local cuisine. Really enjoyed the local bass which had a crispy skin and was cooked at the perfect amount of tender. The cocktails were good and our server was friendly. The black squid ink pasta was good. The sweet potato pie was okay, potentially lackluster compared to the rest of the food. Loved the indoor / outdoor seating especially on a day that had beautiful weather.

I went here for a restaurant week with one of my friends for dinner and we had an amazing time. I can always appreciate a place that has a really good ambience. I.e. there was not a lot of people, there is mood lighting during the dinner service, and the service itself doesn't feel rushed. We were promptly seated by the hostess when we arrived, and our waiter came to our table. We opted for bottled still water. For the appetizers, we got the caramelized onion duct tart and the grilled lamb chops. Both were really delicious, but the lamb chops stole the show as they were cooked perfectly. We also ordered the milk bread as she and I had never tried that before and it came out piping hot. They were soft and paired so well with the salmon roe butter. For our main courses, we got the grilled bone in short rib and the Lamb Merguez Rigatoni. I personally preferred the short rib which came with golden beet puree, roasted tomato, Fresno, Leek ash, and a chili beurre fondue. The short rib was fall off the bone tender, impaired so well with all of the accoutrement on the plate. I could eat this every day for dinner it was just that good. The Lamb Merguez Rigatoni was made with Charred rapini, lemon confit, and cream. It tasted really good, but it did not allow me like the short rib did as it reminded me of just your regular pasta with a protein, and a cream sauce. Nothing special, but well executed. For dessert, we got the Pistachio and Honey Cheesecake and the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake made with rum anglaise, pineapple crisp, luxardo cherry, and crème fraiche. Both of these were amazing. Both were not too sweet, very well balanced, and just an overall wonderful way to end the meal. We opted to do mocktails for dry January and both the rose petal and little suns were delightful. I will definitely be back here again as the service was amazing, the food that we had for restaurant week was amazing so I'm excited to try their regular menu items.

A very nice spot on The Wharf to grab dinner. There are alot of places to eat on The Wharf and not all of them are created equal in terms of price versus quality, and Willowsong definitely stands out among them. The service was above and beyond. My cocktail was expertly prepared. So good I didn't want to finish it. The meatball appetizer was just ok. The bread that came with them lacked a strong flavor. However, my steak was incredible! A great blend of flavors, sauces and textures. For the price, the best steak I've had on The Wharf. It was a little noisy but that's almost every restaurant in the area. A pretty good vibe for a casual dinner out.

Local Bass - delicious and great portion size

We spent two nights at the Intercontinental and had breakfast here both mornings and dinner one night. Food and service are great! The breakfast is simple, high quality ingredients, and well executed. The chicken sausage and breakfast potatoes were our favorites! For dinner we shared a Brussels Sprouts, Ceasar Salad, and Rolls. All were great. For dinner my daughter got the kids cheeseburger and fries- it was very good and quite the portion. My husband ordered the local bass and said it was great. I had the squid ink orecchiette with crab. Wow! What a creative and delicious dish! I have never had anything like it! Perfect blend of flavors and textures. Portions are pretty large, so come hungry or opt to share a few items. Setting is relaxed and upscale with a great view of the water. We will definitely be back!

I took my mother here for her birthday, and it was honestly a good choice. Reason being the staff went above and beyond to make the night special service was really attentive, warm, and spot on. It's located on the ground floor of the Intercontinental in D.C and the space feels upscale. My mom had the duck puttanesca, and I ordered the squid ink orecchiette both were amazing, the squid ink pasta was a 10/10. Some of the best pasta I've had in a while, loaded with crab (which I definitely miss living in Richmond lol). Our waiter surprised us with two glasses of champagne and their sweet potato pie for her birthday, which was really nice. Even though my mom's not big on desserts, she loved it. Overall, it was a great experience and she had a great time definitely recommend if you're looking for excellent food, beautiful atmosphere, and top-notch service.

Willowsong is located on the ground floor of the InterContinental in DC. Disclaimer: I booked the hotel using the Chase "The Edit" benefits and had $100 to spend at the restaurant. This was enough to cover two entrées and an appetizer. We started with the hamachi tartare, which was amazing. The fish tasted fresh, and it was paired with homemade chips that added a nice crunch. I loved the creamy texture of the tartare itself. The sea bass was good but not our favorite. It leaned on the bland side, and since I'm not a fan of black-eyed peas, that probably played a part in my opinion. The standout dish was the squid ink pasta with crab, which was a 10 out of 10. If you come here, you have to order it. There were huge pieces of lump crab throughout, and the buttery breadcrumbs on top were delicious. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It wasn't crowded when we went for dinner around 8:30 PM on a Thursday, so the service was impeccable. I can't speak for how it might be on a busier night, but our experience was excellent.

Willowsong was an amazing experience and a huge part of that was because of Yendi at the host stand. From the moment we walked in she greeted us with such a warm and genuine smile and immediately made us feel welcome. Even though the restaurant was clearly busy, she stayed calm, organized, and incredibly attentive. She checked in on us, kept us updated on our table, and made sure everything flowed smoothly. You can tell she really cares about guests having a great experience and that kind of hospitality makes a big difference. The hamachi tartare was one of the highlights of the night. It was incredibly fresh, beautifully plated, and perfectly balanced. Definitely a dish I would come back for. I also want to recognize Alex, the manager, who was clearly making sure everything in the restaurant was running smoothly. It is always noticeable when management is present and supporting the team, and the service throughout the restaurant reflected that. Great food, great atmosphere, and genuinely great hospitality. Yendi and Alex made the night feel special and we will absolutely be coming back whenever we are in the area!

Great location on the main walkway at the Wharf. Inside the IHG hotel. Small menu with good variety. Great tastes. Chef sources fresh local ingredients and creative dishes. Host and service was mediocre at 2 different meals. But strong recommendation 4.5+ for food and location.

We were warmly greeted by Phelton. Such a nice person! Service was excellent by Selburn. He made great recommendations from the menu and provided superb service. The last two times we visited, Fernando was our server. He is very personable and professional. The avocado toast was pretty good. The cornmeal pancakes were sweet, earthy, and nutty. Topped with Carmel apple, pecan, and salted butter. If you have a sweet tooth and like pancakes, this is for you. I loved the fritatta. Very light with roasted potatoes. The yellowtail tacos were on point and delicious. Griled tortilla with perfectly crispy yellowtail fish (seasoned well), an aioli sauce, and shredded red cabbage for a clean tasting crunch. All ingredients (vegetables and fish were fresh) and executed very well. I love the farm to table concept. Melissa at the bar was super friendly and provided excellent service. Their happy hour is Monday - Friday 4:00pm to 6:30pm. Saturday - Sunday 3:00pm to 6:30pm I will definitely be back for happy hour. The ambiance was elegantly casual.

Came here for lunch with one of my best friends about a month ago and had such a great experience. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather along with the beautiful contemporary decor. Willowsong is a gorgeous refresh of the space that used to be the beloved Kith and Kin inside the Intercontinental Hotel. I had an old fashioned to start and the meatloaf sandwich, which was amazing. The herb aioli and tomato jam combo was SO good. Probably one of the best sandwiches I had in a while! We finished off with the salted caramel tart for dessert, which was perfect. Our server was friendly, attentive, and really added to our overall experience. I would love to come back here again for dinner or lunch again!

For entrées, my wife ordered the super lump crab cake omelette, and I ordered the hanger steak and eggs. My wife's omelette was full of crab and was amazing! My steak was seasoned very well and was flavorful! Both of our entrees came with circle hash browns similar to Chick Fil A's which are my favorite! The food was absolutely delicious! The bartender made sure we got our money's worth and constantly refilled our margaritas whenever they got low. We ended up having about 6 margaritas each. This was an amazing brunch deal. Overall, it was slightly worse than the diner downstairs. The food quality wasn't worth the price, which was unfortunate as we were looking forward to visiting Social for a while and finally went on a birthday. The ambiance is nice and chill but the tables are a little too high for the seats. We got the queso fresco pretzels, wagyu sliders, five napkin chicken sandwich, lobster lobster lobster pasta, flourles chocolate cake, and churros. The best bite was the bacon ricotta flatbread. The lobster pasta sauce was underwhelming and the desserts both tasted off. Service was friendly enough, but the experience still was a disappointment overall.

I've been to most of the spots over there, and this time I just wasn't in the mood for Mi Vida, Limani, La Vie, or Pink Tiger. I even considered Milk & Honey but didn't want such a heavy meal before the play. Since I already enjoy the Makers Union location in Arlington near my office, I figured I'd give this one a try. One thing I love is that they offer happy hour every day--including Sundays! I started with the Spicy Pineapple Margarita , which was refreshing with just the right amount of heat. We shared the wings to kick things off, and they disappeared pretty quickly. For my entrée, I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Salad, which was fresh, flavorful, and had a nice kick. My dad had the salmon, and my mom ordered the lamb chops from the happy hour menu. I was pleasantly surprised that the happy hour portion was still generous and even came with quinoa just like the full-size entrée. We all really enjoyed our meals! The only downside was the service. Our server was very kind, but unfortunately he wasn't very attentive and seemed to forget quite a few things. We had to ask for straws three separate times, and when I needed extra salad dressing, I eventually walked over to the kitchen to get it myself because he stopped at several other tables before heading in that direction. I didn't want my salad sitting there getting warm while I waited. ‍ Price-wise, it's comparable to the Arlington location, which I appreciate. The earlier "Power Hour" specials are an even better value than the regular happy hour prices. The restaurant isn't as massive as some of its Wharf neighbors, but it's still a comfortable space with a really nice bar area that's perfect for grabbing drinks or a casual meal. Overall, I'd definitely return before another show at Arena Stage. Great food, solid happy hour, and a convenient location. If the service becomes a little more consistent, this location could easily earn that fifth star.
