That's not even legit carbonara anymore. The server we had at the bar was AMAZING, answering all of our questions, making me a great Aperol spritz as always, and getting the chef to make me the carbonara the old way (perfection..!). But I won't be returning to this location. Apparently DuPont circle still has the old and complete menu. I also have to mention that they changed the pizza. At least the happy hour one. It's thicker and still pretty good but very different from what it was. The server told us they couldn't sustain the old menu due to lack of business but I think this reduced menu will be the nail in the coffin, I'm sad to say :( just not enough options and so many great dishes gone. Tucked away in a hidden alley behind Grazie Nonna, it has this dark, moody vinyl lounge feel that makes it feel like you've stumbled upon a little hidden gem in downtown DC. Clearly there's a gratitude theme happening with the names, and I'm here for it! SERVICE & PRICE: The service was probably the biggest downside of the night. I stood at the bar for about 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. At one point, a guy who clearly knew one of the bartenders walked up, cut in front of me, and yelled out his order. Instead of letting him know I had been waiting, the bartender actually stopped and listened to his order while completely ignoring the fact that I'd been standing there. That definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. And speaking of things that are hard to swallow...the prices! $26 for a skinny margarita is ridiculous. I expect to pay a premium for cocktails in downtown DC, especially at a trendy lounge, but $26 for a margarita is excessive. OVERALL: Grazie Mille was exactly what we needed after DC Improv: good drinks, great music, a chic atmosphere, and a really fun crowd. If we come back, we'll order the cacio e Pepe and the chicken but not the mozzarella sticks since they had candied garlic which I'm not a huge fan of. The cacio e Pepe was very creamy and a decent portion to fill up on. The chicken sandwich was spicy and came on focaccia on a bed of lettuce with spicy dressing. We didn't order the Sicilian slices but saw other people order and would consider ordering if we come back.

The restaurant is spacious and modern. I was seated near the window and for whatever reason, I did find the restaurant to be a little dusty/fuzzy. I'm not sure if it was from the fuzzy throw pillows or perhaps the napkins, but the table did seem to have little fibers floating around periodically. The booth seat also had some salt or something spilled on it from a previous diner. I was greeted warmly by staff. Luis was my server and service was excellent! For my first course, I ordered the tuna tartare which was a generous serving - great for sharing. The tuna was fresh and they have a 9-minute egg plus little croutons for texture. The meal was off to a good start! Food was brought out quickly. Del Mar means "from the sea" and seafood is really where they shine. For my second course, I ordered the paella fideua negra, which is a thin noodle-based seafood paella instead of rice (much quicker cook time). The dish had great presentation. It was served in a cast iron skillet and they provided wooden paddles to scrape all the goodness from the pan. A separate plate with a lemon and extra aioli was provided as well, which really enhanced the flavor of the dish. The lemon half was served in a squeezing cloth which made it feel extra fancy. The paella was light on the seafood - it had three shrimps, three mussels, and a clam - but they were all nicely cooked and it was a good variety to showcase their seafood skills. Portions were generous - I couldn't finish it all and they kindly packed it up for me to go. To end the meal, I had the ice cream cookie sandwich which was a snickerdoodle cookie with salted caramel gelato dipped in chocolate ganache. I thought the dessert was okay. I like all of the components separately, but together, it ate too sweet (even for a dessert). I had a pleasant dining experience at Del Mar. It felt upscale but still approachable, without being pretentious. I would come again.

For a restaurant at this price point, I was also expecting the overall experience and atmosphere to feel a little more elevated. It didn't really feel particularly upscale or special, and the bathrooms were noticeably dirty, which was surprising and definitely took away from the experience. Overall, the food was decent, but between the understaffed service, cleanliness, and atmosphere, I didn't feel the experience matched the price. Restaurant Week is usually a great opportunity to try a higher-end restaurant and want to come back, but unfortunately I don't think I'd return at the regular menu prices.

Again, it was busy... but our waiter was great with still finding time to check on us. The menu is pricey, but the views are great, the food is delicious and the staff are wonderful. They've got ample indoor seating too. The outdoor vibe just reminds me of Paris. The indoor vibe with the wood, booths, and bar are just classic DC. One of the best places for brunch on Saturday or Sunday. Steak frites is A+. Love the French onion soup. French toast is A+. Cocktails and mocktails are through the roof. That brunch Bloody is A+. Great happy hour too. Incredibly good service. There are a few other locations but I've only ever been here and I can't recommend it enough.

For my entrée, I ordered the crab cake with fries and a small side of coleslaw. Despite its smaller size, the crab cake was surprisingly good. It had more crab than filling, which is exactly how I like my crab cakes. I just wish the portion had been a little bigger. The fries were pretty standard. nothing particularly memorable. and unfortunately, I didn't care for the coleslaw at all. By the time my entrée arrived, the restaurant had gotten much more crowded, but it remained surprisingly quiet. I really appreciated that because it made the experience feel relaxed and comfortable. My friend ordered the fish with purple potatoes and green beans, and the fish was a 10/10. It was really good, and the sauce it came with was absolutely delicious. My only complaint was that I wished the vegetable portions were a little larger. Overall, the experience reminded me that I need to visit Clyde's more often. I'll definitely be back, although I'll probably make my next visit to the Gallery Place Chinatown location.
