wow. wowowow! I chose Grazie Nonna as my carb load spot before my HYROX race tomorrow and definitely did not regret it. the pasta was PERFECTLY al dente, the vodka sauce had a nice kick to it, the ALFREDO?!?! absolutely delicious! the burrata was so flavorful and the bread remained crunchy throughout the entire meal- never soggy for a second. the waiter was super kind and great- my friends pasta wasn't what she expected and they switched it for a different pasta without question. the low lights and big windows mixed with the delicious pasta created a cozy environment that added to the experience. would DEFINITELY eat here again.
I visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening with friends. The ambience was decent. However, it was so loud that I couldn't hear the people next to me, including the waitress. Which made for a very interesting experience. It felt like she would just come by and smile at us in the middle of our conversation conversations, and I don't know if she actually asked anything each time she came. The service in general could've been wayy better. We ordered pizza and then pasta and when we asked for a box, we were made to box up our own food and we were just given a huge pizza box that took up 80% of our table and the waitress walked away. I don't know if I was expected to just hold the pizza box while sitting at a small table and trying to eat my pasta, but there was absolutely zero consideration given to where I was supposed to put this large pizza box on this small table when we still had half of our meal coming to the table. The waiter also didn't pay attention to any dietary restrictions or allergies, and offered zero guidance on that. Also, we were told that there was a time limit for where we were sitting despite they're being several tables open the whole time we were there. For the food, I really enjoyed the food- Italian salad, pizza with the hot honey, and Alfredo pasta. But everything else really dampened the experience. If I were to go back, I would either order takeout, eat outside, or come another day when it wasn't so loud, and have a different waiter.
Came here with a friend before going to see Alanis Morissette live - best experience ever! Who knew the perfect pregame to live music with Grazie Nonna. Perfect ambience! perfect food! perfect location! The food was pretty good - I love an artisan pizza (brick oven in the back)! Calamari was good - nothing crazy! Overall cute place to grab a little Italian bite!
We celebrated a friend's birthday at Grazie Nonna, and it couldn't have been a better choice! From the moment we sat down, we had such a wonderful experience. Our server (I believe his name was Anthony) was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, answered all of our questions, and even suggested cocktails based on what we liked. His recommendations for both drinks and food were spot on. He was patient while our group made decisions, attentive throughout the meal, and made the entire experience feel effortless. The food was outstanding. The Caesar salad was honestly one of the best I've had in a long time; fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. We had to try the famous Drunken Love pizza, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! We also shared several pasta dishes, with the Cacio e Pepe being the clear favorite at our table. Of course, we couldn't skip dessert. We ordered the cannoli brownie, tiramisu, and cheesecake, and every single one was delicious. The tiramisu was the unanimous winner, but the cannoli brownie deserves a mention! It is incredibly rich and packed with flavor in every bite. Between the amazing food, excellent service, and fun atmosphere, Grazie Nonna made our birthday celebration one to remember. I'll definitely be back and can't wait to try more of the menu!
Hands down, the best sandwich in town! Grazie Nonna is a refined restaurant in downtown DC, serving Italian staples from pizza to pasta and more. I (almost) always get the same combo, prosciutto cotto and unsweetened ice tea -- a contender for a last meal! Service is good and the prices are worth the quality, but the restaurant would benefit from a renovation as some chairs are falling apart and tables are wobbly.
Walked over after dinner at shoto and mostly floated into Nonna like a cartoon character lead by their nose. We sat at the outside bar and were helped right away. We ordered: Nonna Ciao - 10/10 - my first time with caffeine in my liquor and that was interesting in a good way. I don't stray too far from a lemon drop so this was a nice change Drunken love pizza - 10/10 - perfectly crispy, cheesy and flavorful. The only complaint I had was that they didn't have any ranch. Service was great and we didn't wait long for our food or drinks. Definitely somewhere I'd visit again.
Great place with service and food. We got a few drinks and food. Started with an old fashion then a pizza and pasta. Pizza was very good crust was nice and crunchy with good balance on the pizza from savory flavors. We started with the caesar salad and garlic bread. Both had great flavor. The salad had great freshness and the right amount of dressing. The pasta was their take on a Sunday gravy with rich flavors from the short rib and sausage.
Pricey little Italian joint nestled a little off of L and 15th st. Service is pretty good, and we shared the Drunken Love pizza, which was very tasty, and kind of unexpected since it comes with vodka sauce. I plan to try lunch there again.
Dropped in for happy hour with a coworker and managed to snag two seats at the bar before the crowds showed up (and boy did they!) The bartenders were very friendly and did their best to provide speedy service despite the crowd. The outdoor bar area is spacious and comfortable. In addition to the bar seats there were quite a few tables available which accommodated a large party while we were there. While we were there mostly for HH drinks, we did try the mozzarella sticks, which were tasty, and the other HH menu items we saw others order looked good. Will visit again next time I'm in the city.
I have been dying to try Grazie Nonna for months, so I was excited to finally make it in! The staff were friendly and helpful. I also loved the attention to detail with the decor. My table ordered the Il Bruco pizza (my side without the mushrooms) and the vodka pasta. The pizza was delicious! The onions added the perfect flavor and the crust was perfect! I love a charred but fluffy pizza crust. The vodka pasta, however, was definitely undercooked at first. The manager came out and explained that it is homemade pasta so the texture is different, which is true, but I've had plenty of homemade pasta and this was not that. We cut into the pasta and there was still white inside. I do appreciate the manager for agreeing to send us out a fresh batch. The vodka sauce was okay, but I will definitely be back for the pizza!
I've eaten here 3 times and I keep meaning to leave a review. Third time is the charm! The place gets busy. And loud. Lots going on. That's part of the charm. Don't walk away if you find a crowd waiting at the door. They'll get you seated. Just give them a second. Or grab a seat at the bar like I did. Or sit on their great outdoor covered patio. The service is great no matter where you're seated. My first try at the famous Drunken Love pizza. I thought the color was a little odd for a pizza, but that's the vodka sauce. And it's delish. The whole thing had a "so that's why it's popular" taste to it. Kind of not like eating pizza, but it is. Overall super solid. Shout out to the bar guys who never stopped moving. Between them and the guys making the pizzas, dinner and a show!
PHENOMENAL!!! The best Italian food I've had in years!! Everything was bursting with flavor and tastes homemade. Service was great. Drinks were delicious. The appetizer was mind blowing and the bread was hot and fresh. A must see when visiting DC!
This restaurant is perfect for a lovely night out. The dining room side has a smaller space with lovely lighting, and a DJ was playing during our visit here that really gave you that intimate dinner experience. The Drunken Love Pizza seems to be a fan favorite and it did not disappoint, and I absolutely adored the Caesar Salad here as they crumble the croutons and top it off with green onions. Perfect place for date night or catching up with friends and I can't wait to come back.

Drink of Choice: Passionfruit Mocktail Food: Il Bruco Pizza - this pizza was delicious! I'm a fan of Grazie Nonna and have been often but always order the pasta. I decided to try the pizza this go around and it did not disappoint. The crust was cooked perfectly and not soggy despite it being on the thin side. It was a large pizza and definitely enough for two people or to take home. I could taste the truffle which was a hit. I would definitely order this again or my old faithful fettuccine alfredo! read more

We had a great first experience at Grazie Nonna. First of all - the space is so cute. We loved the gothic-granny's house vibes inside. And they have a super cute patio outside that's far enough off the main street to be quiet and shaded. We started with cocktails. I especially enjoyed the Elderflower Spritz. You gotta have a spritz at an Italian place, right?? Then, we had our appetizers - the tuna tartare and buratta. Both were fresh, pretty and tasty! We loved the panzanella salad with the creamy burrata. And the tuna tartare was chopped nicely and seasoned well. The standout for us was their pizza though. Mamma mia!! The Drunken love with pepperoni and vodka sauce was to die for. Their pizza is like a mix between NY style and Neapolitan. The crust is crispy and puffy. It took a lot of will power to not eat the whole thing. The pastas fell a little short for us. The alfredo was just ok- not the best flavor. And the pesto was really soupy and a huge portion. Definitely, more Italian American than traditional Italian. We wrapped up the dinner with a cannoli brownie. A fun take on the classic Italian dessert. Overall, a delicious meal! We will be back for pizza FOR SURE. read more
10/10 everything was absolutely delicious! The Caesar salad was top 5 not number 5 best I've ever had! The vodka pizza WHEWWWWWWWWW. The first time I visited it was perfectly sauced and cooked. My most recent visit it was burnt and chewy unfortunately. That won't stop me from getting it again though, I'll charge it to an off day. The calamari is literally some of the best I've ever had, beautifully seasoned, the sauces complement it very well and it was perfectly crispy. I HAVE TO HAVE IT EVERY VISIT. The pastas are tasty, I've tried the spaghetti and meatballs, shrimp Alfredo and the vodka pasta. I just wish they had a little spice ! The Hugo spritz are a must order! To top off the experience the live vinyl music mixes was a great touch, on the Grazie Millie side. I really really like this restaurant. I will continue to come back and enjoy . read more

Good atmosphere, Worst service! Huge place with some service. Waiting at the seat without service over 20 mins. Food might be ok but if you can not offer service should tell customer it will be long wait for small party. read more
Excellent restaurant, although slightly pricey. Im not a fan of pizza, but the dough and crust is exceptional in dc. The toppings for il bruco were refreshing. Caesar was wholesome. Out of the grazie restaurant series, this place and grazie kitchen are my favorites. read more
I have been here twice and really enjoyed my food both times. The most recent time I was here for brunch with a larger group and everyone seemed to enjoy their food save for my dad who was oddly confused by Eggs in Purgatory but still decided to order them anyway. My salad was fresh, delicious and substantive. The pasta was also quite fresh. A few notes- the bathrooms were not in great shape (no soap in one, leaking toilet that flushed for a really long time) and service was nice but uneven. Felt a bit rushed as they were going to close for dinner relatively soon but then things we asked for or the bill were slow in coming despite it being an off time and therefore not particularly busy. read more

Stopped by this location for lunch and had a really great experience! The outdoor seating area is perfect and secluded from the street. This place is known for their pizza and I must recommend the drunken love pizza. Their menu is not too large so it's easy to pick. Staff are always accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend if you're visiting DC. Apologies for the tiramisu, couldn't wait to take a picture and then eat! But it was really good! read more
Came in a few weeks ago to grab some pizza, I wish that they made it easier to order takeout. If you're looking for just pizza, it may just be easier to order from Gracie Grazie, which seems to have the same pizza offerings. We went on a crowded Sunday, asked to place an order to go. Were told we could sit at the bar while we wait, but there was only one seat available. We ordered the Drunken Love and Mistress pizzas. Also ordered the Vodka pasta to go. While we waited there was a bit of an issue with the host and another server, but the bar staff was super friendly and accommodating. We had the pleasure of working with Maryanne and she was amazing! She made us feel very comfortable and offered us drinks while we waited. If you like tequila based cocktails, the Milano sunrise is a smash! It's so refreshing and an elevated tequila sunrise. Pizza was crispy, flavorful, but we wish it was a bit less crispy and maybe a bit more saucy. Pasta was very saucy and the noodles were absolutely fresh. I'd love to give them another try and eat there in person. Was a little turned off by the ordering to go experience and wish that the protocol was a bit easier. That said, once we were set up to work with Maryann, she was exceptional and we had a great experience! read more
The inside of this restaurant is so beautiful and the staff was super friendly. I ordered the garlic bread and the alfredo pasta with chicken. I think the pricing of items here is a little expensive, for example, one piece of garlic bread for $9? And $15 extra because I added a protein to my pasta? All that being said, the food was delicious and I'd probably return for a special occasion. read more

I have been wanting to try this spot and I am glad I came! I went out a Wednesday night and it was fully booked - glad I made a reservation! It's a cozy/nice place too. I ordered the espresso all'arancia drink which was fine, but I did like the orange and cardamon flavours. Drink came out fast. Had the Drunken Love pizza and it was definitely worth the hype! The pepperoni and vodka sauce makes it so tasty! The pizza was also bigger than I was expecting, so brought home a good amount as leftovers. Took a while to get the pizzas though. Also got dessert and I liked the budino - good butterscotch flavour that was light that complimented the crunchy and more saltier cookie! Also had the cannoli brownie which was fine, but a little denser and saltier than expected. Overall, a great stuff for classic Italian-American food and I'd come back! Maybe try another pizza next - the pizzas seem great here! read more
Great food, warm service, and a cozy ambiance! I had a wonderful experience at Grazie Nonna. Our party of four was able to try a good mix of dishes -- I especially loved the Sunday Sauce pasta and the chicken parm, both packed with flavor and super comforting. We also ordered **The Mistress** pizza, which was delicious and definitely worth trying. The only downside is that the space can feel a bit crowded, even on a weekday evening, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. It's a smaller, very popular spot in a super convenient part of DC, so going at a slightly less busy time might make the experience even better. Overall, a really great meal and a place I'd happily come back to! read more
The food was great but the overall experience wasn't ideal. First of all, the place is UNBELIEVABLY LOUD. we were shouting to converse. That really turns me off from the idea of going back. Secondly, we had very spotty and slow service on our visit. The manager got involved at one point and she was great but we were definitely feeling some frustration at the slow service. Anyway it's too bad since I loved my pizza. It was delicious and good quality. My friends said steak and eggs and pasta with Sunday sauce were great too. Good deal on bottomless Bellinis for brunch. read more

The place is super cute with indoor and outdoor seating. We had a reservation and were sat and served quickly. The wait staff was friendly. We loved the pizza the most (it was sweet) and the overall cost wasn't too expensive. read more

Really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing. My wife and I ordered the chicken Alfredo to share. The Alfredo came out, but the dishes were missing the chicken. It took a few minutes to get our waitress's attention, and she let us know the chicken had been forgotten and put the order in. We decided to wait rather than eat the pasta without the chicken, figuring it would only take a couple of minutes. Instead, it took about 10-15 minutes for the chicken to arrive, and by then our Alfredo was ice cold. The waitress apologized and put in a new order of pasta, but that also took quite a while. When it finally arrived, it came without the chicken, while the original chicken that had arrived late was now cold as well. At that point we didn't even eat the meal. The waitress said the replacement pasta was "on the house," which was a strange thing to point out since it was replacing a meal that was prepared incorrectly. To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, we were still charged for the original Alfredo and the added chicken. Unfortunately, this experience left us frustrated, and we left without enjoying the meal we came for. read more

This spot kept popping up on my phone, so I finally decided to check it out. You can notice it while driving by, but it still feels a little tucked away. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor area has heaters, which is a nice touch. Reservations are definitely recommended. The service was okay--nothing to rave about, but nothing terrible either. The menu is Italian-based, mostly pasta and pizza. Unfortunately for me, a lot of the dishes included some level of spice, and I prefer little to no spice in my food. I was disappointed to learn the restaurant couldn't make adjustments like removing or reducing spice, which really limited my options. I ordered the Orange Espresso (basically an espresso martini with orange liqueur). It was just okay. The calamari was also pretty average--nothing memorable. For my main dish, I went with the shrimp scampi, and this is where things really fell flat. It lacked flavor, and the dish desperately needed more scampi sauce. My friend ordered the chicken parm, and I tried a bite--it definitely needed salt. Overall, the experience was a bust. Nothing on the menu stood out, and the dishes I did try didn't deliver. I wanted to like this place, but sadly it just didn't hit the mark for me. read more
Grazie Nonna is one of the best places in the city. Come with an empty stomach because you will be bursting at the seams with great food and drinks. Didn't have a reservation and we were seated really quickly. Our server was nice and he was knowledgeable. He also took the perfect amount of time when coming to ask us questions, it made for a great experience of not being constantly interrupted. The drunken love pizza is a 10/10 pizza. We should've ordered 2, but it served its purpose as a good appetizer. The calamari was also really delicious. Now I'm not a pasta person, so take this with a grain of salt, but the pasta wasn't my favorite. For an Italian spot I expected a little more. My pasta was a little hard, so that was very annoying and made it hard to enjoy. Other than that, it was a good experience. read more

When you go out for Italian food, you are not expecting it to be a life-changing experience. This eatery turned our expectations upside down. You are going to need maximum space in your tummy and a small team of fellow diners to try as much of their menu as possible in one sitting. The appetizer Suppli al Telefono will illicit OMG's and send your eyes to heaven. The Caesar salad was somehow extraordinary as well. The creamy Fettucini Alfredo was transformed by the spicy heat of a Bomba Calabrese relish topping. We enjoyed our classic oven-baked pizza as well. That said, if you are strategizing and must sacrifice one area to save room for the other mind-bendingly great food, pizza may be a candidate. We finished off our meal with a fresh tiramisu. The service was cheerful, and though the restaurant interior is gorgeous, we were glad to have chosen seats out on the patio where they kept us all cool on a hot D.C. summer night with large industrial fans. This restaurant was absolutely one of the highlights of our visit to our nation's capital. read more

The drunken pizza was soo yummy - the combo of the vodka sauce, pepperoni and cheeses was scrumptious. While the broccoli calabrese was also good, I don't think I could eat a lot of it as it was quite rich. I do think this restaurant is on the more expensive side of comparable Italian restaurants around the area (for ambience, taste, date night qualities) so not sure if I would come back. Lets begin with the fact that the pasta did not make us feel sluggish or overly full. The portions are amazing! The sauce in both our dishes were delicious. We ordered a classic pizza, Sunday sauce and Chicken parmisiana. All 3 were great! read more

This review is well overdue but has been word of mouthed to several people since coming here for my birthday in August. From the time I arrived they made me feel special and wasn't even wearing anything that said it was my birthday. I brought a cake with me and I was going to ask how much they charge for storage and they told me "Nothing, it's free of charge". They relieved me so much. Now for the atmosphere, it was so so elegant in there even thinking about it now makes me want to go back just to stare at those wax candles that creates mountains of dripped wax which is its own kind of art. Next, let's take about the mouthwatering and delicious food we had. I ordered the Vodka Sauce Pasta and it was the perfect amount of heat and flavor. I also got a side of garlic bread and it was so crispy, light, buttery, and garlicky, just like I like it. My husband ordered the Drunken Love Pizza and of course I had to try a slice and WOWWWW. That one slice of pizza had me drooling it was so yummy!! Everyone enjoyed their food and it was great time. Now, on to my cake, I'd brought candles, plates, and even a knife with me to cut the cake. To my surprise, they brought the cake out with lit candles and everyone sung Happy Birthday to me. They even cut and served the cake to us. Keep in mind, there was not a charge on the bill for this either. It truly made my birthday even more special. Grazie Nonna, you don't understand how happy you made me feel that day. Thank you so much for the love shown on my special day. I will forever tell people this story. Thank you! read more

They dont have heat installed but I believe they may put out heat lamps when it's colder

there is paid street parking nearby as well as several parking garages. I suggest reserving a nearby garage spot through spothero if you are going during peak dining hours.
