I've eaten here 3 times and I keep meaning to leave a review. Third time is the charm! The place gets busy. And loud. Lots going on. That's part of the charm. Don't walk away if you find a crowd waiting at the door. They'll get you seated. Just give them a second. Or grab a seat at the bar like I did. Or sit on their great outdoor covered patio. The service is great no matter where you're seated. My first try at the famous Drunken Love pizza. I thought the color was a little odd for a pizza, but that's the vodka sauce. And it's delish. The whole thing had a "so that's why it's popular" taste to it. Kind of not like eating pizza, but it is. Overall super solid. Shout out to the bar guys who never stopped moving. We celebrated a friend's birthday at Grazie Nonna, and it couldn't have been a better choice! From the moment we sat down, we had such a wonderful experience. Our server (I believe his name was Anthony) was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, answered all of our questions, and even suggested cocktails based on what we liked. His recommendations for both drinks and food were spot on. He was patient while our group made decisions, attentive throughout the meal, and made the entire experience feel effortless. The food was outstanding. The Caesar salad was honestly one of the best I've had in a long time; fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. We had to try the famous Drunken Love pizza, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! We also shared several pasta dishes, with the Cacio e Pepe being the clear favorite at our table. Of course, we couldn't skip dessert. We ordered the cannoli brownie, tiramisu, and cheesecake, and every single one was delicious. The tiramisu was the unanimous winner, but the cannoli brownie deserves a mention! It is incredibly rich and packed with flavor in every bite. Really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing. My wife and I ordered the chicken Alfredo to share. The Alfredo came out, but the dishes were missing the chicken. It took a few minutes to get our waitress's attention, and she let us know the chicken had been forgotten and put the order in. We decided to wait rather than eat the pasta without the chicken, figuring it would only take a couple of minutes. Instead, it took about 10-15 minutes for the chicken to arrive, and by then our Alfredo was ice cold. The waitress apologized and put in a new order of pasta, but that also took quite a while. When it finally arrived, it came without the chicken, while the original chicken that had arrived late was now cold as well. At that point we didn't even eat the meal. The waitress said the replacement pasta was "on the house," which was a strange thing to point out since it was replacing a meal that was prepared incorrectly. To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, we were still charged for the original Alfredo and the added chicken. Unfortunately, this experience left us frustrated, and we left without enjoying the meal we came for. read more

Walked over after dinner at shoto and mostly floated into Nonna like a cartoon character lead by their nose. We sat at the outside bar and were helped right away. We ordered: Nonna Ciao - 10/10 - my first time with caffeine in my liquor and that was interesting in a good way. Dropped in for happy hour with a coworker and managed to snag two seats at the bar before the crowds showed up (and boy did they!) The bartenders were very friendly and did their best to provide speedy service despite the crowd. The outdoor bar area is spacious and comfortable. In addition to the bar seats there were quite a few tables available which accommodated a large party while we were there. While we were there mostly for HH drinks, we did try the mozzarella sticks, which were tasty, and the other HH menu items we saw others order looked good. My table ordered the Il Bruco pizza (my side without the mushrooms) and the vodka pasta. The pizza was delicious! The onions added the perfect flavor and the crust was perfect! I love a charred but fluffy pizza crust. The vodka pasta, however, was definitely undercooked at first. The manager came out and explained that it is homemade pasta so the texture is different, which is true, but I've had plenty of homemade pasta and this was not that. We cut into the pasta and there was still white inside. I do appreciate the manager for agreeing to send us out a fresh batch. I have been here twice and really enjoyed my food both times. The most recent time I was here for brunch with a larger group and everyone seemed to enjoy their food save for my dad who was oddly confused by Eggs in Purgatory but still decided to order them anyway. My salad was fresh, delicious and substantive. The pasta was also quite fresh. A few notes- the bathrooms were not in great shape (no soap in one, leaking toilet that flushed for a really long time) and service was nice but uneven. Felt a bit rushed as they were going to close for dinner relatively soon but then things we asked for or the bill were slow in coming despite it being an off time and therefore not particularly busy. read more

The dining room side has a smaller space with lovely lighting, and a DJ was playing during our visit here that really gave you that intimate dinner experience. Came in a few weeks ago to grab some pizza, I wish that they made it easier to order takeout. If you're looking for just pizza, it may just be easier to order from Gracie Grazie, which seems to have the same pizza offerings. We went on a crowded Sunday, asked to place an order to go. Were told we could sit at the bar while we wait, but there was only one seat available. We ordered the Drunken Love and Mistress pizzas. Also ordered the Vodka pasta to go. While we waited there was a bit of an issue with the host and another server, but the bar staff was super friendly and accommodating. We had the pleasure of working with Maryanne and she was amazing! She made us feel very comfortable and offered us drinks while we waited. If you like tequila based cocktails, the Milano sunrise is a smash! It's so refreshing and an elevated tequila sunrise. Pizza was crispy, flavorful, but we wish it was a bit less crispy and maybe a bit more saucy. Pasta was very saucy and the noodles were absolutely fresh. I'd love to give them another try and eat there in person. Was a little turned off by the ordering to go experience and wish that the protocol was a bit easier. I ordered the espresso all'arancia drink which was fine, but I did like the orange and cardamon flavours. Drink came out fast. Had the Drunken Love pizza and it was definitely worth the hype! The pepperoni and vodka sauce makes it so tasty! The pizza was also bigger than I was expecting, so brought home a good amount as leftovers. Took a while to get the pizzas though. Also got dessert and I liked the budino - good butterscotch flavour that was light that complimented the crunchy and more saltier cookie! Also had the cannoli brownie which was fine, but a little denser and saltier than expected. Overall, a great stuff for classic Italian-American food and I'd come back! Great food, warm service, and a cozy ambiance! I had a wonderful experience at Grazie Nonna. Our party of four was able to try a good mix of dishes -- I especially loved the Sunday Sauce pasta and the chicken parm, both packed with flavor and super comforting. We also ordered **The Mistress** pizza, which was delicious and definitely worth trying. The only downside is that the space can feel a bit crowded, even on a weekday evening, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. It's a smaller, very popular spot in a super convenient part of DC, so going at a slightly less busy time might make the experience even better. This review is well overdue but has been word of mouthed to several people since coming here for my birthday in August. From the time I arrived they made me feel special and wasn't even wearing anything that said it was my birthday. I brought a cake with me and I was going to ask how much they charge for storage and they told me "Nothing, it's free of charge". They relieved me so much. Now for the atmosphere, it was so so elegant in there even thinking about it now makes me want to go back just to stare at those wax candles that creates mountains of dripped wax which is its own kind of art. Next, let's take about the mouthwatering and delicious food we had. I ordered the Vodka Sauce Pasta and it was the perfect amount of heat and flavor. I also got a side of garlic bread and it was so crispy, light, buttery, and garlicky, just like I like it. My husband ordered the Drunken Love Pizza and of course I had to try a slice and WOWWWW. That one slice of pizza had me drooling it was so yummy!! Everyone enjoyed their food and it was great time. Now, on to my cake, I'd brought candles, plates, and even a knife with me to cut the cake. To my surprise, they brought the cake out with lit candles and everyone sung Happy Birthday to me. They even cut and served the cake to us. Keep in mind, there was not a charge on the bill for this either. It truly made my birthday even more special. Grazie Nonna, you don't understand how happy you made me feel that day. Me and my bestie came in around 1:15 pm we had no reservation and it was pretty packed. We were seated at the pizza bar (we got to watch them make pizzas) we really enjoyed sitting here but it was kind of inconvenient since they were running food next to us the service wasnt the best. Overall the restaurant is fairly small, but it's very classy. I love the open windows and they have a cool bar in the back. This spot kept popping up on my phone, so I finally decided to check it out. You can notice it while driving by, but it still feels a little tucked away. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor area has heaters, which is a nice touch. Reservations are definitely recommended. The service was okay--nothing to rave about, but nothing terrible either. The menu is Italian-based, mostly pasta and pizza. Unfortunately for me, a lot of the dishes included some level of spice, and I prefer little to no spice in my food. I was disappointed to learn the restaurant couldn't make adjustments like removing or reducing spice, which really limited my options. I ordered the Orange Espresso (basically an espresso martini with orange liqueur). It was just okay. The calamari was also pretty average--nothing memorable. For my main dish, I went with the shrimp scampi, and this is where things really fell flat. It lacked flavor, and the dish desperately needed more scampi sauce. My friend ordered the chicken parm, and I tried a bite--it definitely needed salt. Overall, the experience was a bust. Nothing on the menu stood out, and the dishes I did try didn't deliver. He also took the perfect amount of time when coming to ask us questions, it made for a great experience of not being constantly interrupted. The drunken love pizza is a 10/10 pizza. When you go out for Italian food, you are not expecting it to be a life-changing experience. This eatery turned our expectations upside down. You are going to need maximum space in your tummy and a small team of fellow diners to try as much of their menu as possible in one sitting. The appetizer Suppli al Telefono will illicit OMG's and send your eyes to heaven. The Caesar salad was somehow extraordinary as well. The creamy Fettucini Alfredo was transformed by the spicy heat of a Bomba Calabrese relish topping. We enjoyed our classic oven-baked pizza as well. That said, if you are strategizing and must sacrifice one area to save room for the other mind-bendingly great food, pizza may be a candidate. We finished off our meal with a fresh tiramisu. The service was cheerful, and though the restaurant interior is gorgeous, we were glad to have chosen seats out on the patio where they kept us all cool on a hot D.C. summer night with large industrial fans. This is one of the better meals I've had in a while. There's no shortage of Italian restaurants in D.C., but this one stands out. We were already fans of Grazie Grazie and were excited to try this sit-down concept. We started with the Il Greco and Crispy Fingerlings, then moved on to the Alfredo and Sunday Sauce as entrees. The appetizers were a slight step above the entrees -- the potatoes in particular were excellent. Portions were larger than expected; we each had enough for a couple of meals. The ambience here is super chic like a Don Draper embodied in real life (and as a restaurant). We tried the calamari app, drunken pizza and broccoli calabrese. The drunken pizza was soo yummy - the combo of the vodka sauce, pepperoni and cheeses was scrumptious. While the broccoli calabrese was also good, I don't think I could eat a lot of it as it was quite rich. I do think this restaurant is on the more expensive side of comparable Italian restaurants around the area (for ambience, taste, date night qualities) so not sure if I would come back. OH SO GOOD! Came here for a work trip and decided to enjoy a solo dinner. Daniel my waiter was AMAZING. Incredibly attentive, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Very quick on his feet and helpful towards every table he had. The food was incredible. The salads were great and the Sunday Sauce pasta dish was amazing, cooked to perfection. We got the Nonna Style meal selection for a group of three which included Caesar salad, IL Greco salad, beef carpaccio, drunken love pizza, cacio e pepe, vodka sauce pasta and Sunday sauce pasta. Dessert included tiramisu and a brownie. Overall the food was good. Nonna style was a good portion of food but every meal had three options except for dessert which only had two plates. As a dessert lover this hurt! The 3 stars comes from the service during my visit. Everything felt a bit slow. We had to wait 20 minutes to sit for our reservation that we checked in on time for. Only one menu was given to the group and it took a long time to get another. We asked for plates and honey for the pizza which took over 20 minutes to receive. Not ideal when the foods is getting cold in front of you. I love the food here. Hoping for a better experience next time. read more

Grazie Nonna is always packed, and for good reason... the food here is superb! My group of 3 arrived and we were seated for our reservation within 5-10 minutes. It's very lively inside, so expect to have to speak at elevated levels to speak with your table mates. This is where the service fell a bit short for me. Once we were seated, we were handed menus. A little while later, we got cups and water, but still hadn't seen our waiter. After about 20 minutes, I finally had to get up and flag down the hostess to get some sort of service. They did end up sending us a free appetizer, and while I did appreciate the gesture, I would have rather they just provided us with quality service in the first place. Aside from that, I thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes and drinks that we ordered. The pizza has to be one of my favorites in the city. Even though they were fully booked, the staff assured us they'd take care of us--and sure enough, a couple of seats opened up at the bar, setting the tone for a great evening. The garlic bread was big enough to split up between three people and had a nice crunch to it. The pasta was delicious. I basically inhaled that plane lol. The sauce was nice and creamy. The waiting "area" if it's a chilly night, the inside hostess stand gets congested fast, so you will have to wait outside. Inside seating is also a little cramped. Scott's customer service was impeccable. Really felt like I knew him before with how great his customer service was. I hope to get him again.
