Second visit to Lupo Marino, and it did not disappoint again. Promptly seated for a 6:00 PM reservation despite the restaurant being fully packed, cheerfully and energetically alive, in the best way. The service matched the vibe: warm, attentive, and efficient. Our server was pleasant, and the food arrived quickly, hot, and fresh. The focaccia was light, airy, and golden-brown. I took a moment to admire my pasta (yes, I played with it a little before diving in), and it was worth the anticipation. The Cacio e Pepe with shrimp was rich and comforting: creamy, thick noodles, peppery bite, succulent, fresh, delicate shrimp. Another memorable evening at The Wharf, another reminder to savor the moments that stay with us.

Overall a disappointing experience, with a shock when we saw the bill at the end of the meal. The food was ok. I ordered the panini (burger) which was good. The fries were good but some were cold and undercooked others were fine and crunchy. It was so intermittent that it was surprising every time I got a cold fry. My wife's pasta had a super small portion of burrata cheese on her "burrata pomodoro" which left the pasta a bit more dry. The kicker was the wine situation. My party of 3 ordered wine, the waitress suggested just getting a bottle of wine. (Which usually is more economical than each person ordering an individual glass for $16.) We ended getting a bottle of the house Pinot noir. We did not need a bottle just thought it was more economical. The wine was merely OK as it was rather watery and not full bodied. We got the bill and BAM! $70 for a bottle of cheap wine. I understand than alcohol licenses cost money and there is a mark up. But we were all shocked and felt like we were taken advantage of. Super glad we only paid for the house wine and did not upgrade to waitress' recommendation. I can't imagine how expensive that would have been. I was so disappointed in the wine after seeing the price on the bill, I looked it up....it costs $9.99 retail. Maybe cheaper if purchased in bulk. But that explains the low quality. I am not a Sommelier, and am usually ok with house wines. We used to come here a lot. But this location changed. Food quality declined and alcohol prices are deceptive. Ambiance is cozy, the music is a bit too loud to have a nice relaxing meal.

    Margherita Pizza. Very good.

OK. I'm raising my rating of Lupo Marino back up to 4 starts because we are learning how to navigate the menu and avoid the mistakes that can come out of this kitchen. To be clear, if you like heavy, cheesy, rich food, then you will love most of the menu. If you prefer a little more restraint, then you must order very carefully. This time I tried the eggplant Parmesan, after the waiter assured me that it wasn't buried in cheese. She was right. The flavor was very good and it wasn't buried in cheese, but it unfortunately was very heavily breaded -- seemingly as much bread as eggplant (Lupo should take a cue from All Purpose in Navy Yard, that knows how to create a rich eggplant Parm without all that breading). Order it to share. The margherita remains the best pizza, with a terrific crust and sauce, but even that pie, limited to discs of fresh mozzarella, has about 50% more of it than you'd find on a real Neapolitan pie. Salads remain good. Just order your dressing on the side to avoid the risk of drowning. It's hit or miss depending on who's in the kitchen. Better to do it yourself.

Pasto delizioso in ottima compagnia! I am so glad I used yelp to find this amazing place for dinner while in my hometown of D.C. Ambiance was beautiful and trendy with a vintage flair I loved being half European. Drinks were delicious and so many choices from side drinks to mocktails to heavy pours. Appetizers were phenomenal and entrees And dessert just made the entire experience absolutely delicious! Best pasta and cheese ever ! I loved the brick oven pizza as well. Anytime I'm back home , this is a must stop for me from now on. And service was excellent may I add. Another great thing is that after you are stuffed with great food, you can take a nice stroll down by the marina and grab a gelato!

    Spicy pasta

If you love pizza then come here. Wood fire oven and taste good. If you want pasta then this isn't the place for you. I had the spicy pasta and it wasn't spicy at all, tasted like pasta and no flavor pasta. Ordered the salad that comes with tomato cheese and lemon dressing it was good. My hubby had pizza very good. The servers are quick and attentive. It's a busy spot.

Shout out to Juan for turning disappointment into happiness last night!! We had dinner plans for after my son's meeting at 7 pm but the meeting ran late so we left after 8 pm for dinner and arrived here around 8:30 pm. We were seated immediately and ordered our food. I told Juan that my son had a meeting at 9 pm so bring all the food as soon as it was ready! Boy did he deliver!! Our food came within minutes. We had: Fritto misto Eggplant parmesan Beef arancini balls Cesar salad with anchovies Cacio de pepe Prosciutto pizza with arugula Tiramisu 2 Arnold Palmer's 1 lemonade My son got to eat before heading off to his meeting and we got to enjoy our dessert leisurely. Thanks to all who saved our night!! Everything was great!

Stopped by on a Friday evening with a friend and had an enjoyable dinner. It was busy but we were able to walk in and be seated immediately. Our sever Juan P was knowledgeable about the menu and after his recommendation, I decided on the seafood chitarra. My dinner was absolutely tasty and filling. Would return for a wonderful Italian meal!

Went to Lupo Marino on the Wharf last weekend and it did not disappoint! My friends and I went for the bottomless brunch, which is a great deal! $38 for an entree and bottomless mimosas. The portions of food were great. The pizzas were all incredible, the crust was perfectly cooked. The Caesar salad does have anchovies, which I am not a big fan of so I ordered the salad without them and it was great. The restaurant itself was decorated very well, with pictures of Italy everywhere. The servers made sure our drinks were never empty, so definitely recommend for a weekend brunch!

Fun location - right across from a live music venue and close to the water. The menu felt like it was missing some classic Italian dishes. I couldn't find a pasta dish without red sauce. The Santa Brigida pizza was delicious and the perfect size to split between 2 people. Service was standard. Overall, I felt this place was overpriced and underwhelming.

Pizza with braised short ribs and caramelized onion

I went to culinary school. We ordered the pizza with caramelized onions and braided short ribs. The short rib is delicious, id come back to try it with pasta. Stay away from the pizza, it's greasy with too much cheese in proportion to the crust. Also, please do not lie on your menu. Those were not caramelized onions, they were barely cooked raw red onions. You can technically caramelize red onions but it'll leave a muddy color. Better to use yellow or white onions...and actually caramelize them. The crust was very flaky, almost like a puff pastry.

When we first arrived, I was carrying a reusable coffee cup from Starbucks, and a manager immediately approached me to let me know I couldn't keep it inside. While the policy was understandable, the initial approach caught me off guard and felt a bit off-putting. I was reluctant to give up my cup since it was reusable and my latte was still fresh, but I handed it over. A short time later, the manager returned, apologized for his initial approach, introduced himself, and offered to refill my cup with any coffee drink of my choice. This gesture really turned the experience around, and I appreciated the thoughtfulness. We ordered drinks and the grilled octopus, which was absolutely delicious. The flavors were incredible and paired perfectly with the aperitif shots the manager kindly brought out to complement our meal. When we were finished, he returned my cup, freshly filled with an americano, which was such a thoughtful touch. Despite the rocky start, the manager's professionalism and effort to make things right truly stood out. The food, drinks, and service were fantastic, and I'd definitely go back to Lupo Marino the next time we're at The Wharf

I was visiting DC for a Bachelorette Weekend and this is one of the spots we ate at for dinner. The restaurant is in a nice location and is beautifully decorated. They have a mix of indoor and outdoor seating and can accommodate larger groups. We ordered a mixture of things as apps and they were pretty good. The table really enjoyed the Fritto Mistro and Polpette Al Sugo. For my entree, I got the Tagliatelle allá Genovese (pasta with braised short ribs) and it was underwhelming. It lacked the depth of flavor I'm used to from short ribs.

The leek and lettuce within the lemon butter sauce was to die for, and the girasoli itself was pleasant and unforgettable. The focaccia was also SO FLUFFY. The outer crust was not too crunchy and just right. The inside is so glamorous but also feels Italian. Very clean, nice and spread out, and overall a fabulous vibe. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to while I lived in DC, because to be honest, I never got in an Italian mood. Now that I no longer reside in the DC area, I use every visit to eat my faves and occasionally a new spot. So, after another popular (and cheaper) Italian place closed before I could finish my delivery order, I spotted L'Ardente. I ordered the famous Lasagna - their 40-layer specialty - with short rib sugo, truffle mornay, and Sottocenere Cheese. The truffle mornay added a smooth, melty, creamy cheese sauce. It is good, but I am not sure if it is worth the hype at $40 lagnasa. I think the cost is built into the work but not the flavor profile. I think the meal is better without the sauce - it made it too salty with it.

Finding the restaurant was easy but walking into a foyer that looked like the back of a restaurant / server entrance with no staff to greet you was a little confusing. There are curtains sectioning off the dining area, but lots of questions when you first walk in. Also note that the dining room is verrrrry dark at night, and it can get very loud when crowded. Service was okay, but there were multiple times when we wondered where our server was. The bread, oil, and winter sangria were AMAZING. For food we had Brussels, calamari, and mussels to start (all delicious), tortellini mignon (underwhelming and sent back for the lobster linguine), scallop and shrimp risotto (okay, but I've had better), and branzino (good and cooked well) as entrees. I had the tiramisu for dessert which was good, but I did almost choke in the first bite from the amount of cinnamon. I would go back to try additional dishes, but a little underwhelmed for a first experience.
