Got you! Here's a slightly longer, full-message version for Yelp: Went to Floriana with some friends for restaurant week. Honestly, the experience was just kind of... okay. I've ordered from them on DoorDash before and really enjoyed it, but dining in didn't quite hit the same. The squash soup wasn't really my thing (might just be personal taste), the lasagna felt a little bland, and dessert was fine but nothing special. Service was good, and the space is cute and cozy, though parking can be a bit tricky. Overall, it wasn't bad, but for me, it felt a little underwhelming. Good girl night though !

I enjoyed my dinner here. The duck breast was delicious. I liked the sauce and the gnocchi that came with the dish. I also enjoyed the wine. The service was great and the ambiance was intimate and cozy.

I recently took my wife to Floriana during date night. This is a good restaurant. Their staff was extremely respectful and did a great job hosting us. It's a pretty romantic spot inside as well. They have outdoor seating too. Parking is rough. We started off with cocktails. I had an old-fashioned and she had sangria. For starters, she had the butternut soup and I had the brussels sprouts both dishes were very fresh and tasted great. For our main entrée, I had the duck breast and she had the bolognese. You can tell they use fresh ingredients in their dishes. We enjoyed our experience and look forward to going back.

This place is so cute! When we came in, we were seated pretty fast. Vibes are very cute And intimate, as it's a restaurant built in a house. Although all of the tables are small, somehow it wasn't cramped which is kind of rare for a restaurant of this style. They had a pretty good special going on where you could get an appetizer and entrée and a dessert for $55. Some things were an upcharge, such as the filet mignon I got which was a seven dollar up charge, but I felt that was more than fair. The servers were kind and knowledgeable and kept our water glasses full. The steak was good. It wasn't exceptionally delicious, but I have been eating a lot of steaks recently and this is definitely one of the better ones. Steak was served on top of mashed potatoes and broccoli. The mashed potatoes were honestly kind of cold and I wish they were a little thicker. I really enjoyed the broccoli. The leaves were slightly crunchy and the taste was pretty good. The sauce that was on top of the plate wasn't particularly delicious, but it wasn't bad so I suppose it was OK. For the black gnocchi, the gnocchi itself was very good. It was chewy and a decent size. I also really enjoyed the sauce. I don't eat pork so instead of the sausage they gave me shrimp. I was not that crazy about the shrimp, but I do appreciate that they substituted it for me. The size of the dish was honestly kind of small, But the presentation was very cute. The Tiramisu was light and fluffy! It was Perfect and I usually don't like tiramisu that much. There's Not too much of a dense coffee taste. I also really enjoyed the Mango sorbet. I think it might have been a little better than other mango sorbets I've had on average. I think for the value it was a pretty good stop. I'm Glad I tried it but Would probably try another restaurant over coming back to this one.

Floriana is an Italian staple in the DuPont circle neighborhood! Located in a cozy row home, they have beautiful inside and outdoor options for seating. We love to go on Mondays/Tuesdays for their $55 three course dinner special - the portions are always very generous with enough to take home! They have a great wine list, and even offer half priced bottles on Wednesday/Sundays. The staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. Most recently we got their calamari (always a favorite), mussels in wine sauce, duck breast, and lamb gnocchi. The gnocchi had such a rich and decadent flavor. The duck breast was also delicious, and cooked perfectly.

By far my favorite brunch spot in dc. Cute converted row house for intimate vibes. Super sad they haven't been open on saturdays recently :(

Pasta is absolutely made in house if this was a review only on the pasta I would give 5 stars. We were seated inside which was lovely. Great ambiance and candle lit dinner. The duck pasta was fabulous. I don't see many pastas made with duck so that was novel. The white sauce and the green onions gave it a freshness factor. And you MUST get the lamb gnocchi. It was sooo rich and gluttonous. I split this with my sister, definitely enough for 2 people. We got 2 appetizers - Caesar salad and calamari. Calamari was fantastic, paired really well with the tomato sauce they give you. The Caesar was ok, I wish their were more capers in there. And the croutons were a bit hard. You could probably do without the Caesar. For dessert we got tiramisu and bread pudding. Tiramisu was a hit. No notes. Texture and flavors were both there. The bread pudding was not a hit. The flavors were there but they didn't get the texture right. It was hard as a puck! Which was a shame because I love bread pudding. All in all - come here for pasta absolutely. They do that right.

Continues to be a beautiful spot for a nice meal with absolutely flawless service. The half priced wine bottles Wednesdays and Sundays are a spectacular deal. I highly recommend for restaurant week! You get choices from the whole menu! Unfortunately I did find the Brussels sprouts a bit undercooked this time. Also, the duck pappardelle wasn't my favorite dish there. The noodles and duck were amazing but the sauce was a bit bland. However I've had a ton of other great things in the past and my party largely loved their dishes. We recommend the black gnocchi on the appetizer menu and the pork shank. You also get free bread with the tastiest pesto sauce. And the pistachio gelato and tiramisu were great. They are also very very careful about food allergies there.

First time trying a nicer sit down restaurant in DC. Very good! I was recommended here after look at some reviews and after talking to some of the locals. To start off with, it is very charming atmosphere here, I sat outside, but it looks like they repurposed an older house to make it into a restaurant. Loved to see that! The service was fantastic as well, had water at my table within a minute, if that, of sitting down. My food also came out speedily as well! I had the Lamb Gnocchi, which was incredible! I thought it was very flavorful. I thought it more of a stew and would've liked to have had a spoon, but, I made it work! Once again, I cannot praise Floriana enough! Good food and good "vibes" haha.

First review of 2025 - don't sleep on Floriana. There are so many Italian options in DC. Floriana is a stand out for the quiet intimacy, lovely service and delicious food - every time. They've been around for decades - with good reason. Pastas are perfect, mains are delectable and the vibe is quiet and cozy. Highly recommended.

Lamb Gnocchi with spaghetti noodles instead
    Josh R.

I came for the lamb gnocchi and was a little disappointed that after I ordered it, they ran out so they had to substitute with spaghetti noodles. However, the lamb ragu tasted amazing and had a lot of flavor! They also gave me house bread with a pesto sauce, and it was good. Overall, I'd come back to this place.

I went on Saturday to Floriana. Initially I thought of sitting inside but outside was shady so i asked for a seat under the tent. My reservation was for 6 pm. I get the menu and immediately put in an order for a glass of wine because the waiter was right there. I thought I ordered red but a white came out. Not a big deal. I cheated and looked at the menu ahead of time and was thinking lasagna. Lots of people out on Saturday night. The restaurant wasn't that busy. I got a look inside and not too many people eating. I had to wash my hands. The stairs going up are slanted a bit. No soap to wash in the men's room. I didn't notice it until my hands were wet...ok. A pre dinner snack was on the table when I returned form the men's room. I wasn't sure what it was...looked like toast with a side of pesto. Never thought about pesto and toast but I'll give it a try. Not sure what was in the small metal container but it didn't taste good. Ok, I push it aside and sip the wine. The lasagna showed up before too long and (I have to be honest) I have never seen lasagna that looked like what was on my plate. I have a bite or two, it's ok. It was very dry and needed more sauce and less melted cheese. So I pack it up, finish the wine, pay the check and leave.

For winter COVID outdoor dining - Are the tents open? Probably not a good idea to have a closed tent (essentially it becomes 'indoor' dining). I spoke to someone and he said one side had a curtain, the other sides were open? Anyone have details?

Now, the food. The housemade sourdough with eucalyptus honey butter is dangerous, I could have stopped there and been happy. The roasted carrot salad with hazelnut dukkah and garlic toum was one of those dishes that makes you rethink a vegetable entirely. The garlic knots had no business being that good... crispy, layered, almost croissant-like, deeply garlicky in the best way. For pasta we had the pappardelle with spicy roasted pork ragù and fennel breadcrumbs, and the canastra cheese ravioli with wild garlic pesto and brazil nut pangrattato, that stunning deep green dish topped with chive blossoms looked like art and tasted even better. Both pastas were perfect. Then the Brazilian budino with coconut caramel and toasted coconut came out with a little candle tucked in. I nearly cried. The Cheeseburger Americain was a standard 3.5 out of 5 American cheeseburger that beats the average suburban chain restaurant burger with its double patty and sesame bun, but isn't gonna knock your socks off like a steakhouse burger. The poutine kept my socks on too (I was particularly excited about the poutine and ended up a tad underwhelmed). The biggest disappointment was the mozzarella sticks, which...... I'll just get to in the service part. Cocktails were mid. All interesting concepts, but most missed the mark. the Polar Express was a little too sweet, I forgot what the name of the riff on an old fashioned or Manhattan I had but that was okay, and the Fleur de Citron tasted like when you ask for a Sprite and they ask, "Is Sierra Mist (now Starry) okay?" and you reply, "yeah that's fine," but then what you get is actually a flat 7-Up. Ambiance - This place runs on vibes like America runs on Dunkin'. Live DJ, neon lights, feels like a place you wanna eat a little, dance a little, drink a little. Fun place. Tanked by the service. Skip to the Assessment/Plan if you don't want to read this novella retelling of our evening. Service - Relatively early for the dinner service, we were the largest and one of only a few tables in the restaurant. I counted 3 other tables seated (small parties of less than 4 each) and a few patrons at the bar. It took about 20 minutes before we first got our menus and the guy who handed them to us didn't say a word just dropped them off. Then it took another 20 minutes before he came back to get our drink orders, and 1) seemed like he was having a bad day, which... fine, but 2) was rolling his eyes when some of us were a little between some options and wanted a recommendation, which... alright my guy let's chill. We weren't talking loud, we weren't drinking before and being obnoxious, we just wanted to ask about what some of the drinks were like on a very cool menu of cocktails we haven't tried anywhere else. Upon returning with our drinks, he accidentally spilled a not insignificant amount on my friend sitting across from me, and while we reacted and started handing him extra napkins, he just glanced at him, finished giving out the drinks, and walked away. No "oops", "my bad", "oh let me get you some paper towels", nothing. So at this point, we're all staring at each other like "Did we do something? Do we smell?" Whatever, friend's birthday, we've been talking about this cabin weekend for several years and it's finally happening, let's just vibe. Now another 20 minutes went by and we were getting antsy because we wanted to order our food but it looked like there wasn't a lot of staff, and we didn't want to upset anyone by hurrying them. Another man came over who we thought was going to take our orders. Nope. He starts picking up our menus so I say, "Oh, hey we haven't ordered yet." To which he replies, "OK, but I need the menus." Alright cool, yeah, that makes sense if he needed them for other tables and can leave us with a few to share. Nope. He just took them and placed them back at the host stand. Awkward stares across the table again. Whatever, we had enough, I guess. Tick tock, tick tock. A third guy came over, and when he smiled and asked, "Hi are you all ready to order?" I was like "Oh finally a human being!" Food took another 20-ish minutes while we nursed our drinks and really had no interest in ordering another round (not that anyone asked us). We ate. We chatted. We had an okay time. We were super ready to get out of there. Oh right, the mozz sticks. Le Mont'zarella sticks. They had one order left of four sticks for $18. We were one of the first diners. You can imagine after all the above, that's just a major facepalm emoji. Assessment/Plan: Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for Le Mont Royal to improve their service, now and at the hour of ASAP, because the place has so much potential, and maybe it was just an off night, or the staff just finished arguing with each other in the back so they took it out on us, but dearly beloved Lord it was like we offended nine generations of their ancestry from the moment we walked in. With "a 22% service charge has been added for your convenience," I thought we were getting Punk'd. The always-changing French-Canadian menu is a cool and unique concept, but it's a lot of bark with very little bite. It didn't make the disappointing service worth it.
