We were luckily able to be sat here and it was such a memorable experience! Sitting at the bar, we were able to see the beautiful view of the full dining room. We were also able to comfortably chat between ourselves. I ordered a prosecco and the eggs Benedict with garlic toast. I ate every bite it was so delicious. The combination of the garlic toast and hollandaise was melt in your mouth delicious! The service was great, albeit it was hard to get our check. Since we were at the bar and he was the sole bartender, he was stuck fulfilling drink orders (we're talking prime time brunch o'clock) and taking care of those seated at the bar. Despite the delay, the dining experience was good and the food is definitely worth a rerun visit.

Definitely a classy, filling meal that you won't regret paying for. Of course, I didn't pay for it--it was part of a catered service I was invited to at a nearby building, the Robin Hood headquarters in Washington, D.C. They served a full three-course meal plus appetizers. My favorite was the branzino, which was cooked very well. It had the perfect balance of herbs and zest that really made it stand out. They also had chicken, including a lemon pepper chicken, which was okay, but the branzino was easily the highlight. This place really serves great fish. The pizza was good, and the cauliflower options, including the vegetarian and vegan selections, were also excellent. Everything was well-seasoned and generously finished with buttery, herb-forward flavors. Being near the Capitol area adds to the experience. When you eat here, the ambiance makes you feel important, like you're being treated to something elevated and intentional. You feel good and rewarded just being there. I would highly recommend it.

I ordered a few appetizers, and the Duck Hunt was my favorite. I highly recommend getting it as an appetizer. Personally, I'm not a big fan of this restaurant. There are too many strict policies, like potentially losing your reservation. I also didn't like that they charge for water. However, my waiter was nice and friendly. I also ordered the famous 40-layer lasagna. It was very rich, but I really liked it. The restaurant is a bit too loud, and most of the time I couldn't hear my friends. Overall, the food is okay, but nothing extraordinary.

There will be a return trip to L'Ardente in the future. I just wanted to go ahead and get my feelings out of the way first and foremost. Some have said that this is the best Italian spot in DC. I am not sure how stringent they are with reservations because it is mentioned more than a few times that they will only hold your reservations for 15 minutes. Lucky I am a stickler for being on time and we got there about ten minutes before our dinner reservations. Looking around it was not that crowded but appreciate a place where the know reservations are what they are and not just a suggestion they need to consider. We were greeted immediately. The first thing that jumped out to me was how extensive the wine menu was. Not really a wine guy so I stuck with the cocktail menu. Actually, what really jumped out was the sign saying, "Please don't do coke in the bathroom." Whenever please is used I take it more as a suggestion. Anyway, I did not go with something that strong and went with the Blood Peach Bellini. I am not a big fan of foam or whip as a topping on my drinks, but the salted peach foam worked here. I took a scoop of the foam and there was no false advertisement. It tasted like a salty peach. What wizardry is going on back there. My chosen drink was refreshing and even for me it snuck up on me. For an appetizer we went with the gamberi. The grilled prawns with pomegranate molasses and garlic looked kind of "I don't know on the menu" but was a definite good choice on the first bite. Always willing to try something new and this is why. We also decided to try the polpette (beef and pork meatballs). Now to the main course. Spouse ordered the 40-layer lasagna and yes one of us counted ensuring that we got our 40 layers and short rib sogu that was promised. I kept reading about this lasagna and had to sample it to see what the deal is. It was pretty good, but I don't think it compared to my choice of the Vitello Parmigiana that came with rigatoni. I did not think it was going to be such a large portion. It took up the whole plate and yes there are pictures on yelp but still kind of hard to judge. I was up for the challenge but ended up taking half home. The fresh basil placed atop went perfectly with the slight tartness of the sauce. The tartness of the sauce was perfect. Sometimes I like my sauce sweet and sometimes I like it with a bit of that tangy taste. It was a nice balance with the whole entrée. A nice outing that I would highly recommend be it for a full dining experience and I will let you know about their happy hour.

L'Ardente - A Night of Flavor, Flair, and a Few Hiccups Our dinner at L'Ardente turned into a memorable evening, thanks in large part to Tara, our server, who made the entire experience warm and enjoyable. She truly elevated the night. When we arrived, I mentioned that I had been trying to call earlier in the day to move our 9 PM reservation to an earlier slot. After several attempts, the calls kept looping into a recorded message directing me to their website or email--no real person ever picked up. The lobby attendants later explained that their phone line isn't actually functional. I shared that it's a bit frustrating; if the number doesn't connect to staff, the recording should at least clarify that it's informational only. Otherwise, it sets the wrong expectation. They told me that I should tell their owner (so hello owner! I hope you're reading this) But once we got past that, everything else hit the right notes. Food Highlights Lasagna (40 Layers) Their famous 40‑layer lasagna absolutely lives up to the hype. From the first bite, the rich cheesiness and savory meatiness shine through, and the hint of truffle takes it to another level. It's indulgent, comforting, and packed with flavor. Linguine ai Frutti di Mare A beautiful seafood pasta with crab, scallops, prawns, and squid in a spicy pomodoro sauce. The freshness of the tomatoes really stands out, balancing spice and acidity perfectly. Every forkful felt vibrant and satisfying. Porchetta (Easter Special) This dish was a standout. The roasted pork had that perfect contrast--crispy skin with tender, flavorful meat and fat. Served with mashed potatoes, apples, and carrots, it felt hearty and festive. Honestly, it's so good that it deserves a permanent spot on their menu. Drinks Porn Star Caviar Martini This cocktail is an experience. The presentation alone is stunning, but the way you're meant to enjoy it makes it even more fun: start with a spoonful of caviar, sip the champagne to cleanse the palate, then finish with the vodka-passion fruit mix. It's playful, elevated, and unlike any cocktail I've tried before. Dessert - Flambé Tiramisu A showstopper. The tiramisu arrives hidden inside a chocolate dome, which is then flambéed tableside to reveal the dessert. It's dramatic, delicious, and the perfect finale to the meal. Despite the hiccup with their phone system, L'Ardente delivered a fantastic dining experience. The food is unique and deeply flavorful, the drinks are creative, and the service--especially from Tara--made the night feel special. If you're visiting DC, this spot deserves a place on your list. Btw this is my first time in DC!

I was referred by a coworker who had a positive experience here. Making reservations was easy and it helped shape the expectation of the layout of the restaurant. There are three areas and they all seemed to be bustling the Saturday afternoon of my visit. Huge thanks to our server Ahmet and the Guest Relations representative. Robin Williams. They made sure we had everything we needed for this visit and any follow on visits, we were assured that they'd accommodate us accordingly. Everything was enjoyable and I found that sharing the appetizers gave an opportunity to explore more of the menu items. Portions were appropriate and the flavor was optimal. I look forward to returning here to enjoy more of the menu and ambience. Reservations are highly encouraged. Underground parking is available and it's easy to get to by public transportation and ride share.

We decided to eat here for my daughters 12th birthday. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and quickly seated. Everyone was extremely welcoming and nice. The building itself was really nice and looked quite fancy. The furniture and setup of the restaurant was nice. We ordered the ceaser salad. Whoever seasoned it had a heavy hand, it was overly salty and we couldn't finish it . The focaccia and prosciutto was very good especially with the jelly provides. The salty and sweet with bread was a great combination. The gnocchi was probably the best plate of food I ate. It was melt in your mouth and the sauce was amazing. I wish it was served in larger portions. Another issue we ran into was the wait time. We had to wait almost 40-45 minutes before our main courses arrived. My wife was almost ready to leave. When we did get our food the lasagna was solid but nothing to highlight in my opinion. The carbonara by my wife standards was average. She felt the noodle choice wasn't the best for her. Overall it was a solid experience. There were some areas that could be improved.

Stunning Italian restaurant with impeccable service! Perfect for a date or special occasion! The interior of L'Ardente is gorgeous with lots of beautiful lighting fixtures. The service is incredibly friendly and attentive! To drink, I got the Blood Peach Bellini, which was so sweet and refreshing! Apps: Focaccia and Cavolfiori: Honestly, the focaccia was just ok! Nothing stellar, but I did enjoy the tomato tapenade. The cauliflower was tasty and I liked the chili garlic aioli! Main: Verde Salad and Girasoli: The salad was decent! Wish it had a tad bit more vinaigrette. The butternut squash pasta was delightful! Dessert: Il Vesuvio and Crème Brûlée di Riso: I loved the Il Vesuvio! Can't go wrong with meringue and raspberries. The crème brûlée wasn't for me, but I'm admittedly not a fan of rice pudding.

I've been waiting for L'Ardente to add a happy hour, and it finally happened -- and it's a great one. it's still pretty new (under a month old), and it already feels like it's going to become a go-to after-work spot. The happy hour really highlights their brick oven pizzas, which are $12 and include the Margherita, Americana, Funghi, and Fuoco. They also have $8 drinks including Italian beer, Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, a Tuscan red blend, the Glam Spritz, Naked, Famous & Frozen, Espresso Torino, and a Negroni Classico. And yall this is all you need! We grabbed a couple pizzas and a few drinks. The Glam Spritz and the Naked, Famous & Frozen were both refreshing and definitely slap -- perfect after-work cocktails. Service was another standout. Our servers Eric and Dennis were amazing -- super friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. I believe Eric was my primary bartender, and he's actually served me a few times before when I've been at L'Ardente. He's always great, so hopefully I got his name right. The manager, Robin, was also consistently on the floor checking on guests and staff. She stopped by our table multiple times during the visit and you could tell she was making sure everyone was having a great time. There was a really great team spirit in the room. I also love the cute aesthetic of the place. The bar area especially starts to pick up around 4:30-5 PM as people get off work. There's always a bit of a buzz in the space, and with the weather improving and now a happy hour in place, that energy will only keep growing. I did end up ordering one thing that wasn't on happy hour -- the Duck Hunt. It's a fan favorite and something you can't get on DoorDash, so it's one of those dishes I always feel like I have to order when I'm there. I think this should 100 percent be added to the happy hour menu like CMONNNNNNN. Parking was easy to find since we arrived a little earlier, which was a nice bonus. Overall, I'm really excited about this new happy hour. I've been hoping L'Ardente would add one, and now that it's here, it feels like the perfect spot for pizza, drinks, and a lively after-work vibe. But don't sleep because we know that their dinner menu you go so hard can't go wrong with the Bronzino or the 40 layer lasagna like this place is just everything

    Verde salad

3.75/5 stars Food: We started with appetizers of Focaccia and Cavolfiori (fried cauliflower). We also ordered the verde salad antipasti, with lettuce, avocado, cucumber, and grapefruit served with a lemon dressing. For main entrees, my friends ordered the vege option Girasoli with truffle flakes added on top. I ordered a rigatoni alla carbonara and it was honestly one of the best carbonaras I've had because of the use of rigatoni instead of spaghetti as the pasta. I enjoyed all of the main pasta dishes, but I found that the focaccia was a bit subpar; the olive oil mixture really elevated an otherwise basic bread dish. Additionally the fried cauliflower was good but it was only good because of the sauce that it came with, otherwise it was a bit dry. Dessert: We finished our meals with Il Vesuvio, which is a raspberry pavlova (meringue) with vanilla ice cream and raspberry lava sauce and Crème Brûlée Di Riso (coconut jasmine rice with vanilla mascarpone and cherries). The latter of which was not my fave, but if you're a fan of rice pudding you may like it. Overall I think L'Ardente shines best with their pastas. As a note, I'd ideally like to try their pizzas next time to compare.

It was our first time here celebrating my husband's birthday. Based on what they have on the website we were expecting a five star restaurant. We were overdressed and the decor was subpar. The dining table was pretty small with one chair and a sofa like chair which was so uncomfortable it distracted you from enjoying the meal. There is zero ambiance. Food was delish. We both had the 40 layers lasagne, salad and tiramisu. This is definitely a one and done for us. The price was very high for reservation only and they had diners in jeans and sneakers.

I came before when they first opened and decided to join a friend there for a late brunch. I had already eaten, but got the lasagna, salad and drinks. Besides the mimosa, I had the Negroni Fumo. The bartenders and servers were great. The music was perfect volume and I love a well-lit space.

Hmmmmmmmph! This restaurant was in my bookmarks. Was super happy to take this place off the list before ending 2025! Upon entry, we visited the bar. It was packed and was great to see the other dishes come out. Love food/people watching. After enjoying our Blood Peach Bellini we checked in and were immediately seated in the back. Our waitress had a thick accent so it was rather difficult to understand her. The restaurant is on a corner which allows for natural lighting to shine in. The dim lighting added a somewhat of romantic vibe as night came. Deco is modern with an upscale flare! Chandeliers are gorgeous! Let's get into it! App - Giant prawns - The best dish we got! The highly acclaimed lasagna - Was great! "Fuoco" pizza - Was too spicy and although edible there was too much heat that we didn't enjoy it. Honestly, I always review places immediately but this spot missed it for me. One and done for me! Wouldn't return as the menu is limited. My date was going to order a steak or lamb chops but that wasn't an option on the menu. He was a trooper and ordered lasagna! If I got invited to this place, I'd likely try to convince my guest to patronize any other Italian restaurant in the city! Cafe Milano runs circles on this place! Honestly don't know what the hype is. It was just eh!

Bites: there weren't much to eat at martini hour so we moved to the general area afterwards to enjoy some food. Service: the staff was amazing and very accommodating. I absolutely loved this drink and would get it again Sicilian Martini: another fav! Loved the moody vibe of the wine bar, it felt very cool, cozy and sophisticated. We sat in a booth under a red light so unfortunately my food picture turned out super red. Friends loved the selection of orange wine, and we ordered mcbetty truffle fries, shrimp scampi, honey whipped goat cheese, shishito peppers, and caesar salad for 4 people. Highlights were definitely the shrimp scampi with focaccia and fries, with the goat cheese on bread as a close third. A little pricy for the portions but honestly impressed with the variety of flavors and quality of the food. Service was ok, food came out a little slower than expected. I had really hoped to pick up some pastries (miss those baked joint cupcakes!) but seems like they don't sell them in evening. I'll have to come back for brunch/lunch to get some!

It's got plenty of character and feels like a great spot to hang out with friends or for a nightcap. When you walk in someone will help you find a seat and once you you're ready to order, you go up to the bar to order drinks or food. Although wine isn't my main thing, they do offer a small and limited selection of alcoholic options just no cocktails. Enough to do the job. I loved the music and the dim, chill, laid back decor really complimented the overall feel. It's definitely a spot I'd come back to especially to try out some of the food. Really dope spot.

I enjoyed their happy hour rosé and how spacious it was inside. Beyond that I also loved how kind the bartender was. Because I was staying in a hotel nearby, he gave me helpful and thorough recommendations on his favorite local places to eat. If ever I'm staying in this area again, I'd be sure to pop in here for a drink or two. Would definitely recommend it to others.

The whole vibe is immaculate, with dark walls, dim lighting, and a great playlist, which all sets a very welcoming atmosphere. They have one of the best happy hours in town. M-F until 7, you can get incredible deals. You can get chicken or BLT sliders for $3.50 apiece, and reduced priced stuffed mushrooms, too. The $5 whipped feta comes with a big side of potato chips. These are small bites, but for very small prices. Food specials on a happy hour menu always get me excited. The chicken sliders were the consensus fave and will definitely be our go to. The drink deals are even better, though. I had a delicious old fashioned for just $7, and for round 2, the preparadas up is amazing. It is a bright red draft milk punch that is a little sweet, a little tart, with gin, lime, a touch of spice, and a sour candy garnish. Very fun, but very delicious, too. And it packs a punch. Plenty of other options are discounted, too. If you are reading this during the government shutdown, they have additional shutdown deals (available for everyone, all day), so it's almost like all day happy hour. Don't miss it!

Just a heads up. ;) Service: I received an incorrect order by an accident, and when I went back, they fixed the mistake quickly. I visited on a Friday around 6:30 PM and sat at the bar to catch the end of happy hour (Mon-Sun 5-7 PM). The bar was empty at the time, but a few other people showed up later. The dining room had a handful of tables occupied. In short, easy to get a seat. Drinks were good. I like the Somaek ($6) which is a small beer and a shot of soju. Beer ($7) was beer. We got some beef and pork mandu (dumplings) that were pretty good. 6 pieces for $10 on HH. We got two entrees, the Ddukbokgi ($28) and Yukgaejang ($29), which came with four banchan. Ddukbokgi is chewy rice cakes, gochujang, onion, and bulgogi. We thought it was only ok -- we've had better, including at Mandu in the past. Yukgaejang was a new dish for me. The menu described it as a "spicy beef stew, brisket, noodles, shiitake, bean sprouts, and egg." I expected the brisket to be sliced and recognizably brisket, but it was pulled -- it looked and tasted more like pulled pork. The dish also didn't have any noodles in it. I didn't like it. The banchan was seaweed, bean sprouts, kimchi, and cucumbers. It was okay. Service at the bar was fine.

Deliciousness - 3/5 Happiness -5/5…read more This place is for drinkers as it has no food, so if you want to lift an ale (and go out for dinner before or after, or bring food in with you), this is the place to be. They have a large beer, wine, and liquor list (although not nearly as many English beers as I expected from a place called Crown & Crow). I won't deny that I wasn't a fan of either of the mixed cocktails I had, with both (including strangely a smoky drink) being too sweet. But the beer was expertly poured and the wine was a very generous serving. The prices are also more than reasonable, which is great for a DC bar. But what really elevates this place is the service. By late night, the place was jam packed. But each and every bartender was extremely friendly and they expertly worked the crowd, getting drinks served quickly (which too few places manage to do) and swiftly clearing off tables of dirty glasses. I also greatly appreciated the free goldfish that they happily dole out to the patrons. The staff made this a really good time.

The bartender in that area was friendly, but unhelpful, directing us to use the front room's bartender, even though she wasn't busy when we approached and asked for a couple of drinks. The bartender in the main room was great, he was very friendly and once he started a tab for me he said I could use the other bar too, I guess he wasn't aware the bartender at that other bar already told me she wouldn't help me. Regardless, the drinks we had were decent. For small bites, they only had gold fish crackers, I wish they would have had more to nosh on while drinking. Overall, not a bad visit.
