    Scrambled Eggs - So Good
    Nessa R.

After a quick staycation in Baltimore my honey said I didn't have to drive to BMore for crab cake egg rolls, (I LOVE those things). He talked up Kitchen Savages and said they had them too and that I could go to DC for them. Keeping his title as the "BEST" to do all things, he brought me here to immediately try them out. Whoa! Okay, okay, so let's be honest, Kitchen Savages is in the hood and it's NOT giving "hood" vibes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside the restaurant, it's quite impressive. They have IKEA plates (which are super cute) and the ambiance gives an allure of upscale.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Employees hands down, professional and on point! Service is fantastic. Let's get into it! Chicken and Red Velvet Waffle - Alexa play, Can't get enough by Tamia. Oooooooooooooooooooweeeeeeeeeeeeeee! You all see the picture, it was delicious! Eggs - Yummy! Signature Seafood Deviled Eggs - Alexa play, Yes by Beyoncé. Ermahgerd, can you love food this way? I'm guilty! Cleans my drool as I'm writing this. Crab cake egg rolls - Alexa play, Faithfully by Journey. I'm going to give them kudos but not sure they beat my beloved BMore staple. Maybe I need more and another go round. Good but not the best I've ever had. Overall my handsome partner in crime does it again, "food", a love language that only taste buds could share! Yelpies, this place gets my stamp of approval but use caution and go during the day. Ladies you can dim your lights on attire. So badly want to give them 5 stars but the price for the area, I'm not sure I'd come back just for the food at this price point. Worth every penny just not in this location.

Was torn between soul food and jamaican food...yelped nearest soul food restaurants and this spot came up! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Establishment was clean..cozy/intimate vibe only has 1 large table and and i thnk like 6 medium or small tables ...[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] staff was great, all male which was cool ..different .. food eh...crab stuffed salmon was good...crab egg rolls good...build your own lacked flavor but presented well..catfish dinner eh, the mac n cheese was missing something A CHEESE FLAVOR..FLAVOR in general but it looked good...collards i enjoyed however my mom said she tasted too much sugar /sweetener...and the catfish looked good however it lacked FLAVOR the batter was off... i wouldnt count this spot out regardless of my experience bc it appears to be fairly new and when we arrived it seems as if everyone in the restaurant was putting in orders at the same time so the chef was probably just overwhelmed...

Our server recommended The Chicken Dinner and it was a 10/10! Literally the best wings I've ever eaten. They were cooked to perfection - crispy and saucy. Mac & cheese was also very tasty. Took a little time to come out but it was well worth the wait. For dessert I had the peach cobbler cheesecake and it was fresh and delicious! I was worried it might be too sweet, but it wasn't. Can't wait to go back!

I work in the area and decided to try this place for lunch. The inside is small and intimate so if you have a big party I recommend making a reservation. The bar area has about seating for 6 people, again, not a big inside space. However, the decor is nice with a nice ambiance. The bartender who took my order was very inviting, friendly, and engaging, based on him alone, I am coming back. I just loved the vibes he gave off. Now to the food. I ordered the burger with fries. The burger didn't have any type of seasoning whatsoever. The fries were seasoned with Old Bay seasoning which made them ok. I see that they do have HH, so if I'm ever working late in the area I'll try the HH drinks, not entirely convinced about the food.

Ugh...I wanna love it so much but I simply don't. A relatively new restaurant in the area with very cute decor, great staff but the food is not the best. The crab cake eggrolls are delicious but that's all. I've been for brunch and dinner by myself and with friends and neither time was I impressed. The staff is super nice, but service is slow, even without a crowd. As they're continuing to grow, I hope they're able to work through operational challenges to continue to add to the vibrancy of the community,

Kitchen Savages is hands down one of the best culinary experiences I've had in a long time. The Catfish Mac and Cheese is next-level comfort food - perfectly seasoned, crispy catfish laid over creamy, rich mac and cheese that hits all the right notes. It's indulgent in the best way possible. The Oyster Rockefeller was a showstopper - fresh, flavorful, and baked to perfection with just the right balance of herbs and butter. You can tell real care goes into every dish here. And I can't say enough good things about the owner, Darrell. His passion for food and community shines through the menu and the atmosphere. He's welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly puts his heart into every plate that leaves the kitchen. If you haven't been to Kitchen Savages yet, you're missing out. This place is a true treasure!

Went with the penne alla vodka and I really liked it. The sauce was rich with a little bit of spice and the pasta was cooked well. I added sausage and it paired perfectly. Everything came out hot and fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe of the place was cozy, not too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff checked in just enough without hovering. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes creamy pasta with a kick.

A nice place to dine in southeast DC! I will admit that parking might be a challenge. We did have reservations and we were seated immediately. Our server was very knowledgeable and made good recommendations about the menu. For starters, we tried the Savage Sampler, which consisted of lamb chops, garlic wings and crab cake rolls. Very good! There were so many menu options! I decided to go with the Ultimate Seafood Pasta, and I was not disappointed! Dessert was the cheesecake sampler, and all were really good. They do have a nice cocktail menu as well. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and we were seated near the window, so it made for bright lighting. Overall, I was very pleased with Kitchen Savages and I look forward to a return visit.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is amazing![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Darrell and the staff were so attentive, gave the perfect recommendations and the service was top notice. The food was excellent. Everything was seasoned to perfection. I cannot say enough about this restaurant it s a hidden gem but not for long. If you are visiting be sure to add them to a must visit. If you are local you are blessed to have this place at your disposal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Looking forward to coming back as the music, service, drinks, and vibes are unmatched.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Honey blackened salmon with Jumbo Shrimp@ Kitchen Savages!
    Spencer H.

I visited Kitchen Savages on a random Sunday @ 8:30 and I was surprised to see that it was relatively empty. We definitely didn't need our reservation but who knew?!? I'm always a little skeptical when a place is empty especially a newer establishment so we ordered with our antennas up! We got the crab cake eggrolls for an appetizer, the salmon topped with jumbo shrimp and jerk lamb chops for entrees. Kudos to the "Savage" that was in the "Kitchen" cooking our food. Absolutely delicious! Seasoned to perfection, I cannot wait to come back and order the same damn thing!! The interior is small but has a lot of character. Just think of a mini Busboys and Poets. It does have a nice size bar, where most of the patrons were. The music was a little loud and they were playing the "uncut" versions of the most popular rap songs! Maybe I'm showing my age, but I could have lived without that playlist while eating..LOL! Our server was attentive and pleasant. I'm not sure if it was her or the cook who put the shrimp on top of the salmon instead of the crab that we ordered, but hey, it all worked out because it was great :) Being a native of the DMV, I'm loving that business owners are pouring into the Anacostia area, which is having somewhat of a renaissance. Hey, if Harlem can do it, so can Anacostia..LOL!

This past weekend, I finally returned for dinner with a couple of friends after a show at Arena Stage. The restaurant is still stunning. We sat outside to enjoy the Wharf/water views and the summer weather. The food was still great, too. We shared lots of dishes: a half dozen oysters; tempura fried squash blossoms filled with Maryland crab and cream cheese; an heirloom tomato salad with feta and fried shallots; Massaman curry with fragrant herbs, housemade roti, and the fish of the day; a beautiful halibut dish; and a candied Virginia peanut tiramisu. Everything was tasty, but the entrees really blew my mind - beautiful and delicious. We also each had a glass or two of wine, and they have a great wine list. The service was very friendly, but at some point during our early dinner (our reservation was for 5pm), they got busy and our server disappeared a bit as he got busier. Still, it was a lovely dinner overall - exactly the kind of place you want to be on a warm summer day! If you love seafood and summer vibes, Fish Shop should definitely be on your list.

Our waitress read the room immediately. With a very hungry pregnant lady at the table she prioritized the Parker house rolls without being asked. This kind of attention to detail sets the tone. We later learned she was a fellow Cancer with a birthday coming up. Cancer energy is real!!! The food and drinks did not disappoint. Asparagus, calamari, shrimp cocktail, coal roasted oysters, chicken chermoula, and lump crab gratin. Worth every penny. One tip worth sharing, ask for a bit of sea salt for the chicken. The first taste lacked it and that small addition made all the difference. We were five deep which honestly matched the energy of most tables around us. The space was bright and airy and the round tables made for great socializing, easy sharing, and yes some excellent boomerang pics. Checkout was seamless. Splitting the check evenly with tap to pay right at the table got us out quickly and on to the next stop. For the entrees, everyone had a mix of favorites and dishes they liked less. The biggest highlights were the Steak and Eggs and the Crab Benedict. Both were tasty, although the portions were just okay. On the other hand, the Shrimp and Grits were a bit of a letdown. While the dish tasted good, the portion was surprisingly small and did not feel like a full entrée. Unfortunately, the brunch experience was very disappointing. Our table was in a tight area near the kitchen, and the music was so loud that it was difficult to hear one another. The food service was extremely disorganized. Some guests never received their meals, while others received meals they didn't order. As the birthday girl, I had to intervene when an argument developed between the waitress and one of my guests over a bowl of potatoes. The waitress insisted my guest had already received them, but she had not. My guest was so hungry from waiting that she eventually began eating from another guest's plate. Honestly, who's going to lie about not receiving a bowl of potatoes during a Saturday brunch? My own omelette was not tasty, and I did not care for the white sauce, although the potatoes were good. The mimosas were good as well, except for the hibiscus flavor. We spent over $800 for our party of 13, yet several guests left without receiving their correct meals. We ultimately went next door to Matchbox so everyone could eat and continue the birthday celebration. I want to acknowledge the beautiful atmosphere and excellent bartender, but the overall service and organization were disappointing. Spending over $800 and leaving with hungry guests and incorrect or missing orders is unacceptable. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves how large parties are handled.

Their happy hour is one of the highlights, offering discounted oysters, drinks, and select appetizers during designated hours. I started with the spinach and artichoke dip, which arrived piping hot and topped with a generous layer of melted Parmesan. The dip was creamy, cheesy, and packed with spinach and artichokes without being overly heavy. It had a rich, savory flavor that paired perfectly with the warm, crispy house-made tortilla chips. The chips were sturdy enough to scoop up the thick dip without breaking, making it an appetizer that was easy to keep reaching for. The raw oysters were the star of the meal. They were served beautifully over ice with fresh lemon and a variety of sauces. The oysters tasted incredibly fresh clean, briny, and buttery with no fishy aftertaste. Each one had its own subtle flavor, and the accompaniments enhanced them without overpowering their natural taste. At happy hour pricing, they were an outstanding value and definitely something I'd order again. To drink, I had a margarita, which was refreshing and well-balanced. It wasn't overly sweet, allowing the citrus and tequila flavors to shine through. The salted rim added the perfect finishing touch, making it an ideal pairing with both the oysters and the creamy dip. The atmosphere was lively without feeling overcrowded, making it a great place for catching up with friends or enjoying an after-work happy hour. Service was attentive, and the food arrived quickly despite the restaurant being busy.
