The food here was actually really good would definitely go back and the prices were reasonable. Ordered catfish combo and catfish poboy and small shrimp fried rice. Service was excellent five stars. Catfish was cooked well but a little salty wish they cut down on seasoning felt my pressure going up eating it LOL. I've been wanting to try this spot for a while now and finally decided to stop by on a Friday night. I remember this place used to be to be a hibachi carry out of some sort not too long ago. However I've been seeing their fried rice online and it grabbed my attention because of the veggies and the dark color it had. It reminded me of how the fried rice from the Chinese carry out used to be in the 90's early 2000's. For some reason nowadays when you order fried rice , there tends to be nothing inside of it besides onions and bean sprouts. What happened to the peas and carrots!!!!! I entered the store on a Friday night--which had only 1 customer who was waiting on her order. I walked to the register and was greeted with a smile from a polite young lady. I ordered the fried shrimp with shrimp fried rice, which is actually one of their combos. I believe it was $11.99/$12.99 something like that, but you get 6 shrimp or you can get 12. They have a nice amount of t of seating available if you want to dine in, I believe they have a restroom for customers available as well. The store appeared clean as well as the parking lot. The food came out quickly, cashier showed it to me before bagging ,it which was cool. Everything looked great. The shrimp were jumbo, I highly doubt you need 12 pieces unless you have a large appetite. The shrimp were lightly coated, not panko breaded. Cooked to perfection and perfectly golden brown. The rice was tasty-I did add one packet of soy sauce and that was all I needed. The food stayed hot for a very long time, and my shrimp didn't get soggy before I arrived at my destination. I love Chinese, but it just doesn't taste the same anymore. I've found Fried rice to be undercooked and underseasoned. The individuals who answer the phones and take orders are rude, and the overall quality is lacking. I saw this place on TikTok and noticed that it was located in my old neighborhood, so I decided to give it a try. The employees were kind and walked me through the menu, which led me to order catfish and fried shrimp rice. Y'all, Chinese food in the District Heights/Forestville area hasn't tasted this good since the 90's. My combo meal cost around 15 bucks, and it included a yellow drink. I won't call it lemonade, because it was old-school lemon-flavor Kool-Aid. It was sooo good, and if you put it in the freezer and added Henny, it would make a great evening. I always go here for the shrimp fried rice and wings. The customer service here is just okay. The fried is usually good, I have had a couple of off days where it was not as good. The wings are always good. Also the fried shrimp is good. The restaurant is usually clean and has a some seating available. read more

Delicious fried shrimp but they were a bit salty and I believe they used a LOT of flour in the coating. Even still they were EXTREMELY well seasoned! Now...the FRIED RICE, the FRIED RICE, the FRIED RICE! I have lived in the DMV since 1994 (Chicago native) and had not had a GOOD fried rice since I've been here! All fried rice here is LIGHT SKINNED and that ain't lit" for me! In fact, I'd never seen light skinned rice with PEAS AND CARROTS until I came HERE! Their fried rice was the rice color of choice! Having been here since the name and management change. So today I decided to come because I wanted a cheesesteak and fried rice and knew this place can deliver my weird combo selection....lol. I ended up ordering cheesesteak combo with 5 wings and beef fried rice extra 2.00 charge for the beef which was okay. The food was so good the rice is some of the best fried rice in the area. Cheesesteak was also good and the chicken was delicious as well. The restaurant is a Carryout style place with indoor seating if you choose to eat inside. They have this dish that is so good. The Grilled Shrimp and you can get a side with fried rice or corn or fries or cabbage. I love this dish it's seasoned so well. I also can't leave without saying the food is kind of price, but if you're a foodie. Cost is no object. I would recommend this spot to anyone. I only get fried shrimp in Maryland from here. The shrimp is LARGER than JUMBO. and the seasoning is amazing. An order of 12 shrimp lasts for 4 meals for me. The customer service is always kind and respectful. Muhammad is no longer there but when he was, he provided outstanding customer service. Now Ahnaf is there and his customer service is superb. Ordered through DD! Fried rice was good and plentiful. Tastes like that old skool (80s/90s) fried rice! Will definitely get again. I chose shrimp as the protein and was a bit disappointed that they use salad shrimp but it was plentiful and the flavor on point so I can rock with it. Wings were fried hard just like I like them and still crunchy when they arrived but VERY light on seasoning. The staff and manager are always nice, friendly and respectful. I've frequently visit this location and has always been treated well. I have been to "This is Seafood" several times now and it never disappoints. My go-to is the chicken and shrimp combo meal. I've also had the po-boy sandwich, the fried fish, and the house salad. Everything I get from here is on point. I'm actually surprised that I hadn't reviewed this place already! The service is always convenient and efficient. I call ahead and my order is ready for pickup. I consider this a takeout, but they do have seating and a TV if you want to wait for your order or dine in. I got the 12 piece jumbo shrimp fried and I must say they are AMAZING. Super giant shrimp with a nice crispy coating and very nice light seasoning. This is only my 2nd time trying this place and I recommend the shrimp platter as I haven't tried anything else but their chicken which was good too. Food is served streaming hot and fresh. A bonus about this place is they show you your for before bagging to make sure this is what you ordered. I will definitely be back to try more items. read more

Food has been good. First tried this chain in Clinton Md. Was glad to see they had one up in District Heights. Customer service has been A-1. But check your food before leaving. I thought I did only to find out I was shorted 1 piece of catfish. Which is a no no because there is an up charge for catfish. In their defense, when your food is ready he does open the box and let see your food. He did that for me and I asked was that 2 pieces of catfish and he said yes. But the piece was so big I think he thought there was 2 pieces. I ordered online so I think the cook read my order wrong. Anyway I will be back to try other things. I was skeptical at first since this is more of a carry-out restaurant but the food was excellent. I ordered a steak and cheese with no tomatoes. Tomato's were still on there but I told them it's okay. My 3 stars not going towards that, it's including towards my first visit before last I ordered fried shrimp - they never gave me my drink. I had to turn around when I got home & go back to get it. I shouldn't have to remind anyone about my drink as high as the prices were. I ordered seasoned fries (additional $2.50+) just to realize the seasoning was available in the front. I paid $2 something just for you all to sprinkle the seasoning, when I could just do it myself?!?!!! The guy in the front made a smart remark saying they put the "seasoning on all of the fries". No matter which way you put it - that's a scam. Then you forgot my drink? Back to the steak and cheese from my last visit it was seasoned very well & the roll was very soft! But they left the steak on the grill top too long so the meat was crunchy & burnt. They are very nice there, but I don't believe for one second if I went to complain about my steak and cheese that they would've cooked it to my liking. It's a NO for me. Catfish is my favorite, but this establishment ruined my Friday night fish meal. Way too much salt used in the breading. And their fries were mushy and tasteless, even ketchup could not save them. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

The wife and I tried this place for the first time last week and I must say we were very satisfied! The inside had seating and looked very clean. The costumer service was decent as well. She got the whiting po boy combos w/cheese fries and I got the 4 piece chicken tenders combo w/cheese fries. Her poboy was delicious! Perfect amount of fish and toppings and the sauce that comes with it was good! I was craving tenders but these were not it! They just seemed to be too battered and something I would get for a child. This restaurant is ok but the guy at the cash register has a nasty attitude. I'm a paying customer that cannot wash my hands to dine in. When I was ordering my food, the guy also had a nasty attitude, I can just feel the negativity coming off of him as I was ordering my food. He was rushing me as I was choosing a side order. I don't know what he's going through but if you're at work, you need to put that shit to the side. They also have flies so don't dine in. read more

I got a shrimp basket with fries and coleslaw and an order of clam strips for my wife. The orders were tasty. I backed in and got out because I was really intrigued in how high this post has got in the Yelp! And when I walked in I could tell this was certified hood spot because the Asian guy in there had the swag. I ended up getting 2.5lbs crab legs, a lb of jumbo shrimp, and 2lbs of large shrimp. I got everything steamed expect the large shrimp to keep for home for another day. He was really cool and even threw in (2) sides of extra seasoning and even a carrot cake for free. Which I thought was really nice. He did ask me if I wanted butter which I said yes, but he must forgot because I didn't get any melted butter...maybe next time. The menu is extensive so you will find something you want fried, steamed, and a combination of both. The seafood was steamed perfectly and I can't wait to come back! PSA: next door is a convenience store which I would not recommend because the guy behind the counter acted like he couldn't speak. Mofo was silent as if he was mute. So 0/10 for that place. But Old Lucas 10/10 will recommend all day long!

Now let's get into the FOOD. Everything looked fresh. They have about four rice options (which is already a win), and I went with the pineapple coconut rice. For my protein, I chose grilled chicken, but they also offer shrimp, salmon, and even a mushroom option for vegetarians and honestly, the mushrooms looked so good I almost switched. For my added sides, I kept it simple because I really wanted to taste everything. Collard greens and sweet potatoes. But they also had plantains, and okra....real deal soul food options. Then you get into the fresh toppings. Slaws, carrots, pickled veggies. I kept it light. I finished my bowl with collard green pesto (which intrigued me, and I'm glad I tried it) and added an étouffée sauce over my rice... and listen!!!!! That combo? Chef's kiss. Since I live in the Union Market area of DC, driving all the way to Camp Springs isn't exactly around the corner, so I was excited to finally check this place out. The first issue came before we even ordered. Happy hour runs from 4-6 PM, but nowhere on the website (or when you first arrive) does it mention that the specials are inside or at the bar only. We grabbed a table on the beautiful patio and waited for a server, only for her to tell us happy hour wasn't available outside. That would've been helpful information upfront. ‍ We made our way to the bar at 5:50 PM to order before happy hour ended. The bartender finished making a drink around 5:54 PM but never acknowledged us. Instead, she shuffled around behind the bar while we stood there waiting. Another employee finally came over at 5:59 PM and asked if we needed anything. We said yes--we were trying to place our happy hour order. As soon as the clock hit 6:00 PM, he told us the system wouldn't allow it because happy hour was over. We explained that we'd been standing there for several minutes waiting to be helped because the bartender ignored us. A manager came over and said she'd "make an exception," but respectfully...there wasn't an exception to make. We were there before 6:00. The delay was entirely on the staff. As for the food...it was pretty underwhelming. Mango Margarita - Super sweet and barely tasted like it had any alcohol. Fried Shrimp - Decent flavor, but nothing memorable. Cajun Mozzarella Nuggets - The biggest disappointment. These tasted like frozen mozzarella sticks straight out of a wholesale freezer with little to no Cajun flavor. Thankfully, the margarita was only $5 and both food items were $6 during happy hour. Had I paid full price, I would've been extremely disappointed. The restaurant itself is spacious, although the DJ booth takes up a good amount of room inside. The patio is honestly the highlight--it's beautiful, has plenty of seating, and they also offer hookah if that's your vibe. I just wish the happy hour specials extended outside because it's where most people would probably want to sit. I genuinely enjoy supporting Black-owned businesses and always hope to have a great experience. Unfortunately, between the lack of communication, being ignored at the bar, and food that didn't live up to the hype, this visit missed the mark. Great patio, affordable happy hour prices, but the service and execution need significant improvement before I'd consider making that drive again.

It's a carry out style which is okay grab my food and go. The customer service was amazing the cashier explained everything and the degree of spice they offer for each dish. I ordered the Indian pepper wings and butter chicken both medium spiced and some garlic naan and a mango lassi. The food was flavorful and delicious and was a hit with the family.
