I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and I'm so glad I did. We were immediately greeted and seated right away. Now, I wasn't really happy about our seat but I couldn't see behind the wall to know if there was another table to request to move to. We were sat in the front corner I guess directly under a vent and it was already chilly outside. I didn't let it bother me because I really wanted to try ERRTHANG on the menu. Now, this is where I was about to get up and leave. We sat for a good while and NO ONE came to greet, take a drink order, or even ask have we been helped. I want to say it's because we were somewhat out of sight. Because it was freezing I got up and asked for another table, which was on the other side of the wall with all the other customers and much warmer even with the patio bar doors open. No, I don't remember my waiters name, but he came over immediately and apologized for us being stranded in the back. We went on to order our drinks which came fairly quickly and we ordered our food. I was kind of disappointed because he said they no longer served fried crab legs and should be taken off the menu, but that's OK. I was ready to order something else. I had Chef Mo's Shrimp & Grits and when I say it's the best shrimp and grits I've ever had in my life. It was amazing. The grits were three cheese grits with crawfish, étouffée, and large perfectly shrimp with some BOMB jalapeño beef sausage, which I would have removed, but I said let's do it. Best decision I've ever made. I cannot stop thinking about the grits. My friend ordered the Cajun fried fish and grits with a side of eggs (no pic). We both raved the entire time about how creamy and delicious the grits were. I didn't need to add anything, no butter, no salt, no sugar. They were absolutely amazing and I'm not even a huge grits fan. Now, the fish, the menu stated half a pound, which came out to be one small piece of whiting. I guess I was expecting a bigger piece or maybe two pieces because it was so tiny but that baby filet was seasoned to the gods, I mean perfect. The breading was so flavorful but not overpowering or salty. The eggs tasted like the eggs I had in the marines out of a bag, but he mix them with the grits and was fine. Not even an attempt to compensate for stale entrees. The band was still setting up as we were leaving well after 7pm. I stopped by on a random Wednesday night with a friend for dinner, and we decided to keep it light with appetizers and dessert since we didn't really know what to expect it was our first time visiting. The nachos were a standout packed with flavor and topped with chicken and shrimp. The cheese was especially memorable, super creamy and rich. We also tried the margarita flight, which was surprisingly affordable and served in the cutest little Patron style glasses. The lollipop lamb chops were another highlight and cooked to perfection. To top it all off, we ended with the deep fried biscuit dessert, which alone would have me coming back again. Overall, the service was good and their price was very reasonable. My only minor complaint would be that the music was a bit loud, but maybe that just means I'm getting old lol. Overall, a really chill and tasty experience! read more

So here are my thoughts. I happened upon this black owned restaurant in a restaurant row type of setting. Upon entry, I was immediately greeted! I sat at the bar, and the bartender came over right away. All good things! While dining, who I assume to be the manager, was walking around checking in with the patrons! Extra points for that! On this particular day, they had a saxophonist and singer, which added to the vibes. This may have been because it was Valentines Day. But from what I was told, they have events there often. Now on to the food. I ordered catfish nuggets, which were recommended by the bartender. They were tasty enough. I think I would have preferred a different presentation, as they are just served in a fry basket, and looked unassuming. (I didn't bother to photograph it). But that's not a big deal. For my entree, I ordered seafood enchiladas. While they were also good enough, I'm not sure they are worth the price. The seafood included tiny crawfish and over processed crab meat. As a foodie, I don't mind paying for tasty food of higher quality, but this dish was just ok for me. The cocktail in the large size was worth the price for me at $20. The food does take a fair bit of time to come out, but nothing ridiculously excessive. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back to try more of their dishes! read more

We had a wonderful experience at La'Caj Seafood. The ambiance immediately stood out. The space felt warm, inviting, and comfortable. It's great for a quick date night, a girls' meet-up, or even catching the game. The service was just as enjoyable. The team was attentive without hovering and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Everything came out at a great pace, and we never felt rushed. As for the food, everything we tried was full of flavor and clearly made with care. The Cajun butter lamb chops were a standout, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the fried red snapper was crisp, well seasoned, and fresh. Got there after 3 pm so it was not very crowded. Our server Kenneth was very helpful and attentive with the menus and specials! The lunch special menu was still available so I ordered the shrimp po' boy sandwich with fries and lemonade. My wife got a generous helping of nachos with crawfish. The space is open and music fills the air with a backdrop of a bar in the middle of the place and two large TVs. I've given LaCaj Seafood several chances because I have friends and family who really enjoy coming here for the atmosphere and overall vibe. And to be fair, it is a cool social spot and a nice place to meet up with friends. There's plenty of parking, an open patio when the weather is nice, and I believe they host hookah events once or twice a week, which adds to the social scene. That said, my experiences with the food have been consistently underwhelming. Each time I've gone, the food has been mediocre at best, or items listed on the menu were unavailable. On more than one occasion, I've ordered something and waited for a while only to be told later that the item wasn't available. That's been frustrating and has really taken away from the overall experience. We'll sometimes stop in just for drinks, and while they're okay, they're not the best I've had. There's definitely room for improvement there as well. The service, however, has always been very friendly. We often get the same server, and she is consistently on point, friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. At the bar, the bartenders can sometimes be unsure about what the kitchen has available, which is understandable, but it would really help if that information was communicated upfront while ordering rather than after a wait. Overall, LaCaj Seafood is a solid spot for socializing and meeting up with friends, but the food consistency and menu availability need improvement for me to truly enjoy coming here. read more

PG County, you have a brunch banger on your hands! La'caj Seafood was a 10/10 across the board. I got the signature La'caj Purse (a 26 oz cocktail) and chose the blueberry waffle, subbed vodka for tequila (chef's kiss). Everything on this table food-wise? 10/10. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and cooked and that dill-flavored dipping sauce was so unique and flavorful. Didn't disappoint! Grabbed a quick bite to eat with one of my friends. Ate at the bar, which had a wonderful bar staff. My friend wanted to watch a specific football game and they met his request with no pushback. Now to me, the menu items are different but nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered the La Casita Carne Asada and Eggs, basically steak and eggs. It was a great entree and definitely a repeatable contender for when I come back. Steak was tender and flavored just right. The eggs were cooked exactly how I asked. My friend and I did share the Fried Chicken Taquitos. They were good but I wouldn't get them again. Overall, this place reminds me of an ol' reliable and casual restaurant for when you just want to grab something with some friends. It's ok. I can see the potential so I'm willing to give it another try but overall I was not too impressed. The cat fish bites appetizer was really good. They were cooked to perfection and not dry at all. I also really enjoyed the hush puppies. The chicken fried rice was overly salty with too much soy sauce and the chicken on top was pretty dry. The service was great for lunch time. My wife and I walked in randomly since it was down the street from her job. Our server was attentive and very helpful with picking out a food item. It is quiet during lunch but I can see the space has good potential to be a happy hour place or spot to meet up with friends or go on a date. Loaded Nachos: 9/10.. I was skeptical about getting shrimp as a protein but it was a perfect blend of flavor. Finally, nachos that got flavor and the protein was flavored. I was very pleased. Highly disappointed in this establishment. Came here to watch NCAA Final Four and a customer had to log into their personal account to watch the games on one TV. Prior to that, management told us to watch the games on our phones. Unacceptable as they were showing soccer and baseball. Know your target audience. They were more focused on the DJ/club experience. Inside was completely empty when we came in which should have been a sign. The food is mediocre. The salads we got were warm and wilted instead of cold. The manager (owner) was not responsive and not welcoming at all! She gave the impression of being bothered when spoken to. Since my first experience (brunch) was extremely satisfying I decided to visit for lunch after I saw their unbelievable lunch menu. We had a 1:00pm reservation but I'm not sure the reservation was necessary since it was not crowded. We were greeted and seated quickly. The menu options were great but I couldn't believe the cost...fast food would cost more. We had the southern fried fish sandwich with fries and the build your own cajun flatbread. I ordered from the lunch menu which has multiple food options, that come with fries and a soft drink, for $12.99. Based on the waitress' recommendation, I chose the Southern Fried Fish sandwich. Food... let's just say, egg prices might be hurting this establishment. For brunch, I'm a coffee first, maybe a mimosa after but this place didn't have sugar packets (came in a lil dish), waiter was unsure if they had creamer, coffee wasn't made but he said he could make it. Once the coffee came I asked for creamer and he asked if he didn't have any would milk be okay. Worst part of my experience they only had scrambled eggs. The liquid kind. Not a fave for me. LA'CAJ BREAKFAST PLATE 18 Eggs your way, your choice of jalapeno beef sausage or bacon, shredded breakfast potatoes or grits and toast Eggs didn't come my way, I got them their way. Toast, wasn't expecting the garlic toast that my grandma used to buy in a box from the frozen isle but that is what I got, a piece of garlic toast. I couldn't wrap my head around this. My potatoes had stuff in them, I was confused because the menu didn't say that. The lobster avocado deviled eggs were delicious! Overall, menu needs to be updated to accurately reflect items. Eggs your way to Scrambled eggs your way, Toast to Garlic Toast, what if people don't like scrambled or garlic? And last, the potatoes, describe what is in those potatoes. Maybe even just seasoned potatoes so the consumer knows what to expect. Other than that mishap, the menu is expansive, it has a Mexican flare. My honeys Fish and Grits were okay, grits were too watery but the fish was great! Lots of hits but more misses. Would definitely come back to try more items to hopefully change this rating. Walking into the restaurant you're are greeted by the very loud music played by a Dj. Its so loud that its sensory overload. The entire time we were there we had to speak loud so everyone could here us. The restaurant does not offer hard copy menus and I had to scan a QR code to view the menu. This was a difficult task as some of the QR codes were not working. I waiter took our order and got a few things wrong. We received the wrong drink, the wrong side, and never received my desert. The food was good. I ordered the cajun lambs chops which was cooked to perfection. They are tender and flavorful. They actally aren't spicy at all. Which I enjoyed. The cajun collard greens taste like red beans and rice. Its spicy but not overwhelming spicy. The sweet potato fries are bland. I kept feeling like I needed some special sauce to go with the fries. After eating our server did take our items off the table. Which was a plus. I recieved the bill to see the lamb chops are $50 and 20% gratuity large party charge. It definitely wasn't conducive for having a conversation. I ordered the $14 grilled salmon skewers for the table, but there were only 2 so that was disappointing. The salmon skewers were okay. In hindsight, I would have ordered something more filling. For my entree, I had the creamy Cajun breakfast hash with fried salmon. It was cheesy shredded potatoes with spinach, tomatoes, onions, and a cream sauce topped with a huge piece of salmon. I enjoyed the breakfast hash, which was full of flavor, but wasn't a fan of the fried salmon, which lacked flavor. I did appreciate the generous portions though. Next time, I'll try a different protein, probably the crab meat. I've heard great things about this place and at some point, I'll stop by for dinner. read more

Third visit here and this one was hit or miss. We missed brunch and ordered dinner instead. I had the creamy Cajun chicken pasta with lemon garlic cream. The pasta is $11, but adding chicken was $10.50 and not listed on the menu. I expected an upcharge, just not that much. The dish was also a little dry, and bread would have helped. My friend ordered the Seafood Orleans with fried catfish and crawfish étouffée and loved it. The spiked Kool Aid was really good. Refreshing and strong without being too sweet. We almost ordered the La'Caj Purse drink to share, but it was much smaller than expected for the price, so we canceled. DJ Gemini, one of the best DJs in the DMV, was wrapping up for the night, but the 90s R&B was hitting and added a great vibe. Dessert was a letdown. The tres leches cake looked nothing like the photo, and the deep fried strawberry biscuits were dry and inconsistent compared to another table's order. The staff was friendly but overwhelmed. I did appreciate management comping a guest after a long wait. The restroom definitely needed attention. I have enjoyed La'Caj before and hope this was just an off night. I visited La Caj Seafood with friends on a Saturday night. When I arrived I was greeted by a woman who asked if I was meeting friends. I wasn't sure if worked there or not but I wasn't paying attention because I was late. I was shocked that they weren't busy. Besides our table there were maybe 10 other patrons. They have booths, a bar area with high tops, bar seating and open kitchen concept with large tvs, and large bright space so lots of potential. In addition for Marylanders who don't want to drive to DC plenty of parking, the area is marketed as Restaurant Row. Because I was late my party had already started with drinks and an appetizer. They noted the nachos were tasty but had capers all over them which they requested to be removed. I wanted to try them but the waitress came over 15 minutes after my arrival and we had to flag her down. I had no silverware so I never got to try the appetizer. It took a while to get a drink as the wines are not listed on the menu and she didn't know what they had (only two options ... a red and a white ... I had to probe further like what kind of red and white) to which I kept being asked what do you like? I found that odd I just wanted to know what was available. When it came time to order the suggestions she gave were very confusing because she mentioned she didn't like a lot of things. However I went with her recommendation of the Seafood Orleans over the etoufee and it was pretty good. The presentation was not quite what I expected and I definitely needed more sauce. The white rice was flavorless but the fish was fresh, hot and crispy. My friend ordered the pasta and noted it was lacking in flavor/spice so she asked for hot sauce. My other friend ordered the fried rice which I found to be a strange offering but she liked it. Overall I think this place has a lot of potential our waitress was very nice and attentive after the initial long wait (I think she was the only waitress), but the flavor and ambiance needs a little work to make it more desirable as a Saturday night dinner spot, it felt more like a sports bar. read more

We went on a Friday night at 8, and there was plenty of parking in the parking lot. The space was busy, but we were able to get seated right away at the bar. The vibe was really fun. Really good 90/2000s R&B and hip hop. There were some games outside. It was r ally and say to enjoy the upbeat energy. Food/drinks, everything was just ok to me. Nothing was bad but nothing stood out. I got a guava mojito and it was just ok; I didn't taste any guava flavor. We got hot honey chicken wings and they were perfectly crispy and had decent flavor to them.The chicken empanadas were a nice size, had a good amount of filling and nice crunch to them. I got the seafood sauce with catfish. The catfish was a thin fillet and it was cooked well but really lacking flavor. The etouffe that came with it was decent; it tasted like it used a lot of butter. The cilantro rice was below average to me; really lacked flavor. My husband got the stuffed salmon and he said it was cooked well but was just ok. I expected more in flavor profiles for it to be a fusion restaurant. I would come back for the vibes and try another drink, but not for the food. read more

The good: The shrimp and grits were very good. Very creamy and seasoned well. Only downside, for $29 dollars there were only 3 pieces of jalapeño sausages. Only 6 shrimp, the rest all crawfish. For that amount it should have been more. The "jalapeño biscuit" was just a biscuit with jalapeños thrown on top. I thought it would be a spicy biscuit with the jalapeños baked inside the bread. The eggs left much to be desired. It gave boxed egg which I'm seeing a lot in these new restaurants. If it's not real fresh farm eggs we should be aware. The service was ok. Listen to me carefully. This place is a solid 5 stars. I ate here before when it was an Italian restaurant, but this is the first time I've been here with this new seafood concept. The chef is Chef Jorgé who we met. Met with us at my request. I was here with industry friends and this was one of the best lunches I've attended in a very long time. The food is excellent. Chef Jorgé knows how to cook and he seasons very well. We had an assortment of food which we shared family style. The lamb rib chops were wonderfully grilled with a nice glaze on. The grits were super creamy and flavorful. Not a lot of places will sell you a whole fried snapper. This one did and it was delicious. Even the kale (wasn't overcooked) super flavorful. The ambiance in this place is nice, and our service was excellent. We had Shanell as a server and she's a foodie too and she was able to give us good recommendations. The drinks were nice and strong and everything was absolutely wonderful. I can't say enough about this place, and it's black (female) owned too which is another plus. My friends and I were were looking for a good spot to celebrate the October birthdays and decided to check out their Sunday brunch. I met a friend here for lunch at 12:45 PM on a Tuesday. We ordered hot honey wings with sauce on the side and 2 orders of Cajun Pasta, one topped with shrimp, the other topped with chicken. The atmosphere was nice, quiet for lunchtime, clean, great R&B music and well lit. We were underwhelmed with the food. Advertising as a Latin Fusion - Cajun restaurant, we expected a lot more flavor. The pasta and chicken wings were bland, but the pasta toppings (chicken and shrimp) were seasoned well. After my second visit I thought I was a regular and I'd share my experience ! Well....I'll start off by saying we're gonna give them the W for the win! Both experiences were pretty consistent with food, service and ambience. My first visit I delighted on appetizers and boy was I impressed. The lobster deviled eggs, loaded nachos and party wings made me feel at home. My second visit consisted of Cajun fried red snapper, cilantro lime rice, lollipop lamb chops, and those oh so good collard greens! The music is very loud let's just start there. I was trying to talk to a friend and couldn't hear her. I've been wanting to try this place from all the great reviews I've heard about them. I went on a Friday and they have all you can eat fish for $19.99. I was excited. Your first initial order comes with two pieces of fish and fries. Trying after is one piece of fish . The fish was seasoned well. I also ordered the mac and cheese but it was just baked alfredo but it was good ! I also ordered the satueed kale and baby they should be ashamed because it was drown in oil with no seasoning . The service was great from the guy! read more

Everything about this place, except the super loud music, was fantastic. I think the music is too loud for the small place, but I enjoyed what was being played. Unfortunately I don't remember our server's name, but she was great. Nice, friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the steak bites and étouffée. I devoured it all. I would definitely return. read more
