My handsome and I have been to this spot a few times! I haven't left a review but after our last meal, it's warranted. First, the bar definitely has its regulars. It is hit or miss on finding a spot at the bar. That's a good thing, they are doing something right and people are returning! Bartenders are awesome! Kudos to them! Expect a wait, it stays busy! We're local so we come here asa family quite a bit. Service is decent-I haven't necessarily been wowed by kindness-they all seem a bit rushed and more engaged with each other than the customers. But I've never left angry. It's usually a little lively at the bar so if you're bored and want to socialize there should be people there. The kids meals are nice sizes and my daughter loves the ocean screen and pointing at all the fish decorations thought the restaurant. I've tried several drinks and they are all nasty I just order simple mixed drinks now-seriously the punches and stuff on the menu have all been disappointing-I wish they'd revamp these! The boils are good-they're priced high like all boils. The hush puppies and fried foods are decent as well. The fried shrimp is yummy and I don't usually like fried shellfish. The owners are dirty. My table had an issue when the check came because a few asked for potatoes instead of corn. The server charged us for extra potatoes instead of doing the substitution. The issue was that it wasn't communicated that the potatoes would be an extra charge and was told that we could substitute. The worst part of this, in order for the check to be fixed, the OWNERS had us dig in our bags (that we already ate out of, mind you we're ready to pay and leave) and return the extra potatoes. They literally said they would not remove the charge until we returned the extra potatoes. Excuse me??? How dirty is that! What are you going to do with these potatoes we've already touched and ate around? I then requested that the kitchen owner come out and speak to us and was told, "They're Asian. They don't come out to talk to anybody." I will be escalating this all the way up because to ask your patrons to return food from their already eaten bag due to a miscommunication is disgusting. Came here last week with hubby after deciding to give this place a try. Major fail!!! We sat down and overheard the guy next to us complaining that he had been waiting over 15 minutes and asked for a manager. She was sitting down in the back area and instead of getting up, she had a bartender who instead came and was so rude asking him if he was gay?! All I could think to myself is, what does that have to do with anything? Needless to say after watching such a horrific moment where I was so embarrassed for this poor guy and about 10 minutes of waiting ourselves with no one even looking our way, we just got up and left. Your food can taste like trash, but if you have the best customer service and are understanding, empathetic and willing to hear constructive criticism and try to do better than we have no issues and will definitely come back and try again. This place was a complete disaster from start to finish. First of all, the customer service was downright awful. We were ignored for almost 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, and when they finally did, the staff acted like we were bothering them just by being there. Great addition to the area! We have lived in the neighborhood for a long time. I was born in the Philippines and raised in Clinton. We have seen Clinton boom and while this is great we are still keeping up with what's being added. Today my mom and I tried Crafty Crab and it was a great experience. Thankful to have you in town! The service was okay. Our server was great -- friendly, attentive, with a fantastic memory (I'm a proud fatty and I kept adding to my order). However, it took a little bit of time to place our order, and while we did not exactly feel welcome, we did not exactly feel unwelcome either. We don't expect anyone at any restaurant to go out of their way for us (or anyone, really), but we had a not-so great feeling of, "Oh, we're just Here." Now onto the food. Holy moly! We will definitely be back. The fried catfish was some of the best I had ever tasted if not THE best. It was seasoned to perfection -- not overwhelming, and definitely not bland. It was cooked just right: crispy and meaty (fishy?) in all the right places. Not to sound savage, but I didn't even use utensils. The catfish was done so well that I was eating them like I might eat wings or nuggets. The hush puppies. Yes, yes, and yes again! I was so close to making it a double order -- and the honey that it comes with?! Wow. My mom is uber health conscious. The thought of fried cornmeal usually does not appeal to her. First impression review: Now, I'm keeping it real upfront that I am not a seafood lover or expert. So I knew I would only be trying a few items from the menu. For most people, you'll have a lot of choices! For my first visit to any Crafty Crab, this party of two kept it to the shrimp backet which comes with a side. We had onion rings and fries, with an order of hush puppies. The shrimp and onion rings both had a lot of breading but we appreciated that the taste wasn't too salty. Heavy handed with salt can turn a dish inedible real quick, so glad that wasn't the case here. My order was to go but I was impressed by the space. Great seating for a dine-in experience with set up like a sports bar (TVs all around). Overall, a 3.5 star experience but rounding up due to how friendly the host/cashier was! I visit this location often. Two stars for the happy hour drinks, which are always a great value and really hit the spot. The problem is the bathroom. This location has a plumbing problem that causes a strong, putrid smell from the bathroom to infiltrate the whole restaurant. The only thing that I could think to mention that isn't positive, is that I do not feel that this place is kid friendly. Having the bar in the center of the restaurant, literally sets the mood from the moment you walk in. Unfortunately, some adults do not know how to hold their liquor, and may have conversations that Are not in the best interest of children. But, overall everything was good. A cajun-styled seafood restaurant close to Andrews AFB. Delicious but pricey. Order: Stella Artois, half lb of crab, half lb of headless shrimp, side of fries, side of hush puppies Seafood: It comes in an inflated bag atop a plate. Evidently, this is part of the streaming process. It was awkward, at first, but effective. The shrimp were large, well spiced (original Crafty spice), and perfectly cooked (tail meat easily came out). I didn't pay attention to whether they were deveined, as I am ambivalent regarding veins in shrimp. Crab was also well cooked and consisted of one side of a large crab with a claw. Sides: Uninspired. The fries were unsalted/unseasoned. Nothing special. The hush puppies were plain cornbread...not sweet or spicy, nor were they fried in an interesting way (crispy or slightly sweet shell). Very meh, especially for the exorbitant prices of their sides. Service: Attentive, but DC-aloof. Meaning, service was simply present...better than some, but not what I'd call attentive or warm. I asked for standard crab utensils, and they were way in the back of the kitchen...almost as if I was the first to need such devices. A very welcoming hostess greets as you enter/exit. Ambiance: It's in a strip mall, but they do a lot with the space. A huge aquarium video was played on a long wall on one side of the restaurant. There were a lot of TVs with various sports on. Price/Value: I have lived over 1000 miles from the DC area for a little over a year, so I am unsure if this is truly expensive for the area or just my sticker shock from being near DC. My bill was over $66 before tip, which seemed double what the food should have cost. If I hadn't ordered the bland basket of hushpuppies, I'd have left hungry. One Stella was $9. Since temporarily living in Virginia, I've become addicted to crab boils. I already had crabs, so I purchased their eggs instead. I ordered three eggs, totaling six, with their boom sauce at medium season level. Upon opening the first set, I noticed the lack of sauce but thought nothing of it until I opened the other two, which contained a tablespoon or less of watered-down, greasy sauce with no flavor. It seemed like it took forever, but I'm glad this location finally opened up! I was feening for a crab boil, so my daughter and I decided to check out this new location. We were greeted upon entry and seated immediately since there were not many patrons considering it was fairly late in the evening. Nick, our server, introduced himself and put in our orders for drinks and appetizers. We decided on mozzarella sticks and a shrimp basket, and both were pipping hot & pretty tasty. For drinks, we had a Mountain Dew & a Shirley Temple (my fav)! For our main course, my daughter had chicken tenders & fries, and I had the Dungeness special with a lobster tail added for my daughter. The tenders were huge & filling, so my daughter could only eat one. She enjoyed her lobster tail down to the last bite. My seafood boil was very fresh and flavorful & the sauce was on point. You can't go wrong with the garlic butter with extra fire seasoning. We were pretty stuffed and left with a lot of leftovers. I know my boil we'll be even tastier the next day. Our server, Nick, was very attentive and courteous and ensured we were good the entire night. Although it was near closing, we didn't feel rushed to leave like at other locations we frequent. There were even a few folks that came in before closing & they were not turned away. The staff treated them kindly and no different from anyone else. What could be improved? Customer service needs to be improved . If a customer asks to substitute the corn for potatoes in their boil, there shouldn't be an extra charge for potatoes. When the manager says they will remove the charge, the customer should not be asked to dig into their bag to take out the extra potatoes. That is crazy and disrespectful! read more

As far as the food I heard of the Dungeness crab, I got one normal size dunges crab which was fine and two little baby ones which had about a thimble of actual crab meat. Went for the first time this week with my boyfriend. We loved it so much and wished that we had ordered more. We're going back again soon and bringing friends. Our server Bee was lovely. Let me start off by saying that I really like the food I have eaten at The Crafty Crab. I never get the boils, but I like the shrimp baskets, the chicken wings, and the catfish baskets. I've been to the Clinton location twice so far. First time I went to the Clinton location the service was not the best! Yet, I tried again this weekend. U walk in and see a worker sitting to the side eating food as u walk in. You see the bartender drinking out a thermos behind the bar. So I'm wondering why isn't everybody working the two times I've come in? Why is that they're not busy in the restaurant, but we are waiting five minutes to get seated because the hostess is talking to a co-worker sitting at the bar eating. The one person was at the door trying to take care of all the takeout orders. So she ended up going to get the hostess, so that we could be seated. This also bothered me...why is it so junky at the hostess station / carry out area? I saw Christmas decorations thrown up in the corner, a bunch of signs or something. I'm like why is it so messy at the front door? So, we finally get seated and then we waited and waited for a waitress to acknowledge us. So needless to say about 15 mins. went by and we just got up and walked out! We have gone to the Largo location a few times and the service has been good there. I guess that's why the carry out is so busy at the Clinton location. Since the food is good, but maybe people rather not dine in, because of the service? We expected it to be busy since it was a Saturday night! But it was pretty empty. I guess I'll stick to carry out, if I ever go to the Clinton location again. read more
