I went to this location in Clinton maryland. I always like to support black owned restaurants…read more Unfortunately my experience which may be unique and unlike others was not that good. The restaurant was very inviting and pleasant. While looking at the menu it seemed very overpriced for what they were serving. I and my guest ordered the traditional breakfast. I had the pork bacon and my guess ate the turkey bacon. The meal consisted of two pieces of bread two scrambled eggs with cheese some type of fried potato. My pork bacon was just fine but my friends turkey bacon was floppy and not cooked very well. The fried potatoes were way over salted to the point of being not edible. I was constantly drinking water and could not finish them. The taste of salt was in my mouth until I got home where I had to drink two glasses of water to clear from my palate. When eating the eggs I kept feeling a crunch in them and that crunch was the eggshell pieces that weren't separated from the eggs properly. I asked my guess if they also had eggshells in their eggs and the answer was yes. There was nothing in this dish that you could not easily have cooked at home. The two plates along with two iced teas came to $53 dollars and some change. The money is not the issue for me but the issue is the amount of money you spend for the quality of food that you get. Its definitely not equal. Just because food has a high price does not mean the value and quality of the food matches. Maybe it's just my experience this time at this location and other locations may be better. I know I will not be going to this restaurant again. If other people enjoy this restaurant and location that's great I just wanted to give my experience because those on the fence may need to see this prior to spending their time energy and money. I still thanked and tipped my server as it was not her fault regarding the food and the server did a very good job.

- I visited around 3 PM Saturday afternoon because I was in the area running errands and intended…read moreon doing takeout out, but decided to dine in after coming inside and placing my order. - The cafe is bigger than I expected it to be from the outside, and was about half full when I arrived. There were different types of tables/seating to choose from and everyone seemed to be smiling and in a good mood. They were playing a mix of R&B that included T-Pain, Snoh Allegra, Musiq Soulchild, and Bruno Mars to name a few. They had beautiful paintings of various influential figures in Black art and culture on the walls, and upcoming events shown on a screen behind the bar which I especially appreciated (They have karaoke on Thursdays!) There was also a band set up in the front, and I instantly made a mental note to return for the live music. - I ordered the iced "LCD" latte to drink and the Avocado Smash for a quick bite. I really enjoyed the LCD. I'd consider it to be more lavender forward but I love floral/herby flavored coffee drinks so I was absolutely okay with that. My avocado toast was pretty good and reasonably priced at $12 - There is an easy, laid back vibe so I don't recommend visiting when in a rush. Mix and Mingle is absolutely a place where you want to stay awhile, and I look forward to visiting again

It took a little while before I was greeted, and I feel like they could have been a bit more welcoming and upbeat. I ordered a medium Americano. The cup was fairly large (probably around 12-16 oz), but when I asked how many shots of espresso were in it, I was told just one. Unfortunately, the coffee tasted very watered down. For a cup that size, I think two shots would have made a much better Americano. They did offer to add an extra shot, which I appreciated, but I think the espresso-to-water ratio could definitely be adjusted. With such a cute atmosphere, improving the coffee and making the service a little more energetic would really elevate the experience!

While visiting the…read moreEast Coast we found a location that was close to where we were visiting and decided to stop by and grab a kolache and a glazed donut because we love them and have missed them! This location looked to be fairly new. It was clean, we visited very early in the morning and we were kind of disappointed in the service part of it. The employees were not as friendly and it felt like they were just there to socialize instead of run the business. We ordered 2 jalapeno and cheese kolaches and 2 glazed donuts. Every Shipley's I've visited always gave you hot kolaches and warm glazed donuts that literally melt in your mouth. At this location, this was not the case. The kolache was barely warm which made it nearly impossible to eat since the cheese was not melty and the sausage was cold inside. The glazed donut was not fresh at all. It seemed like it was sitting there for a while, but Shipley's is known for their warm glazed donuts. This experience definitely was NOT the one we expected and next time we will skip visiting here in other states because we know the quality will not be the same as the original!

Located in…read moreTemple Hills in a "busy" neighborhood, you can't miss the red brick structure that is Red House American Buffalo Wings Seafoods & Grill. There are no dine in options here. Food is prepared as it's ordered. They have a hot bar with some offerings and other things are listed on the menu. Rotating specials on various days and overall, my portion vs price paid was generous. The guy working was doing it all solo since his co-worker left and didn't tell him. I was in no hurry and he was quite efficient in handling walk in customers and their drive thru window. Of note, if you don't ask for cutlery or condiments, it's understood that you didn't want them. He was pleasant and didn't do much talking because he was working. They have canned soft drinks, from a dispenser lemonade, sweet tea and are happy to make it a half and half. I got sweet tea and it had a weird taste. This made me think that it's from a mix and not brewed. I didn't event drink it all because the taste was off-putting. I went with the turkey wings, collard greens and sweet potatoes. Thank goodness the sweet potatoes weren't overly sweetened. The turkey wings weren't as tender as mine and needed some attention to detail to remove the small remnants of feathers. The greens had to much stalk and were not from a can. Seasoning on the food was to my liking, but not overdone. My friend had a taste for fish and went with the 2 piece catfish combo. The fish was fried to order and was piping hot when she sat down to eat. Their sides were macaroni and cheese and collard greens. They enjoyed their food but the mac and cheese had a "made with liquid cheese" vibe to it and thats what made me not select it. Parking is on the side of the building or you can park in the rear and walk to the front. The door faces the street and the back of the building is towards the shopping area. If in the area, I may visit and try other things they have. Capable of contactless pay, cash and credit cards.
