The server (Tina) was very friendly and provided good service, which I appreciated. However, I was disappointed by the restaurant's gratuity policy and overall lack of flexibility. I was unable to enjoy or finish my 90-minute meal because I did not like the sauce that was served, yet there seemed to be little willingness to accommodate or adjust the dish to my preferences. As a paying customer, I believe there should be more flexibility when a guest is dissatisfied with part of their meal. While the service was pleasant, the strict policies and unwillingness to make reasonable adjustments left me with a disappointing experience. I am not one to say this but I do not recommend this place at ALL. In response to owner: Thank you for the quick reply. I appreciate that you chose not to charge me a waste fee. Not another seafood boil restaurant? Yep!! Lol. I remember when it was just two in the DMV, Hot and Juicy Crawfish and Chasing Tails. That seems like a 100yrs ago since there's one on every corner now.. Lol! Diamond Crab isn't a chain and I like it because it's close to my house and it's never too crowded at the small bar. The food is solid but the prices are a bit more expensive than Crafty Crab, which is about 10min down the road. Also, Crafty Crab offers broiled oysters which are a favorite of mine. All and all, I visit Diamond a couple times a month, more so for the convenience and Crafty's crowd is a little young and loud for my nerves all the time. Not going to lie, I've been here twice now. I actually came here twice in a very short amount of time. I've actually had the same server twice, too. She's super sweet. She's not necessarily outgoing, but she is friendly, knowledgeable, and very detail oriented. She's got glasses and she provides great service every time I am there. She's very helpful when it comes to acknowledging portion sizes and making recommendations. Now for the food: the first time I came, I came with my best friend and we got there Labor Day weekend bottomless lobster deal. Well, that was OK. We only ended up getting two lobsters. There was only one lobster allowed at the table at a time. So, between rotating through Maryland blue crabs (which they do not have all the time, so call ahead and ask if that's what you're looking for), crab legs, mussels, and other things, we didn't necessarily benefit the way that we could have if we've been allowed to order, say 2 to 3 at a time. In my opinion, what you get with the all you can eat deal is a really good value, but you really have to sit there for all the time. They have really great crab leg offerings, so you're able to get full legs of meat with simple cracks and pulls. The crab balls are good. The shrimp fried rice (included with AYCE is good AF). My only real critique would be that the all you can eat seafood boils are served in the pan, but not in the bag. I feel like when they're served in the bag, they stew in the juices more. I like that. But I understand them, not doing that with bags. I look forward to my next visit. I hope they're running a sangria deal then, too. read more

This is my first time at Diamond Crab - I was honestly more familiar with the business prior, which I think was specifically Crab Shack (I may be wrong on the same but it was indeed, a similar seafood spot). Friday (5/10/24). Randomly stopped in to a neighborhood spot for lunch about 10 min after 12pm. I had not visited since Urban Crab left & Diamond Crab took over. I like the look of the restaurant and it felt lively with the R&B music playing. Noticed a couple folks were already seated & the front desk employee looking down perhaps addressing last minute admin stuff. While still looking down, he advised to seat ourselves. A team member came to take our drink orders. She communicated the limited beer & soft drink offerings and mentioned the bartender hadn't arrived yet. They also don't offer Diet Pepsi. It was an unseasonably chilly day. We both ordered Cream of Crab soup. She quickly returned with our soup. The flavor was decent although my soup lacked much crab & was served in disposable cups. Our server returned at the appropriate time to take food orders then the wait began. We noticed a party that arrived after us received their food. About 25 min later the front desk guy came over & said the printer in back did not print our ticket soooo our order was not submitted. He apologized for the delay. The analyst in me wanted to discuss the order submission process and printer issue further to identify & fix future problems, but I remained quiet. Our food came about 15 min later. It was hot & flavorful. I just found service disjointed. There seem to be a lot of misunderstandings with Diamond Crab about the $15 fee for excess food. I'm not even going to lie, my wife and I kind of over did it, and left about half a boil on the table, but the staff never checked and we left it at that. $50 for all you can eat boils is just about the best deal in town, but it's a slippery slope. It's clear from being there, and from seeing post on their IG that the rules hear are kind of vague and not fully understood by customers or staff. It may end up not being worth it for the owners in the long run. Other spots are charging 50+ or 1 boil. This may be the deal we don't deserve, especially with all the drama it seems to be bringing. The limit is supposed to be 3 appetizers and 3 seafood choices in the boil, but our waitress was letting us order 4-5 seafoods in the boil and we hadn't even asked, and the kitchen was bringing it out with no delay. I thought the boils were excellent, but you really have to let your food sit in the sauce. I typically peel all the seafood and drop it into the sauce before I eat it, because other wise cracking crab legs out of the shell and eating them doesn't give time for the flavors to marry. The Medium Cajun style was hittin, and so was the signature diamond club. I like that they didn't drown the food in the sauce, and I could've sat there forever eating. The crab balls and bang bang shrimp were awesome. I wasn't crazy about the chicken, but I asked for honey old bay and they gave me like a thai chili. The drinks from the bar weren't my favorite, the Cadillac Marg was weak, and the Paloma just taste like alcohol. Our waitress was nice, but she got a big party and 2 other tables at the same time and quickly became swamped. Shortly after the lady at the table got mad and stormed out, and things got back in order. Be prepared for them not to have tools to crack the crab claws. The waitress said that a lot of them get stolen. Overall the service was good, the food was good, and most importantly my wife had a good time. Hopefully this spot can work out the kinks and flourish, but they have to set clear boundaries and stick to them. I real live feel like this is almost to good of a deal to be maintained, but I really wish them the best and hope everything works out. Another day, another seafood boil lol. I'm on a mission to try all of them in the DMV area, and that mission brought me to Diamond crab. This spot offers an AYCE option for $49.99, which does not include any soft drinks, but does include appetizers. The AYCE menu consists of your standard seafood boil offerings, with your choose of spice level and seasoning. I thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers that I ordered. The crab balls were tasty, the wings were crispy, and the shrimp po boy was extremely filling and tasty. The po boy could have been a meal in itself. The main star of the show, the boil, fell extremely flat for me. The spice wasn't there at all, and there was barely any sauce included in the boil bags. The service was also chaotic - they kept bringing orders to the wrong table, and we had to flag down several different people to get refills, order more food, get the bill, etc. If I ever went back, it would be for the apps and for drinks. I was here for lunch and opted to order the crab cake basket with Cajun fries and a side order of hush puppies. The hush puppies have sweet corn inside are served with honey and they are amazing. I was disappointed to get 5 hush puppies for $ 5.99. The fries were well seasoned without being too salty. The crab cakes are so so. I would likely order the shrimp or the catfish basket when I return. Our server was on point with answering questions and keeping us updated on the status of our order. I was disappointed to see that the gratuity, for a party of 4, was added to the check. Their menu stated that gratuity is included for parties of 6 or more. Our bartender, Brooke was good! We started with drinks at the bar as we waited for our table. Lauryn was our sever and was super friendly and made some good suggestions for food. The restaurant/ambiance was chill...great music (a little loud), good for groups (but majority of your party must be there to be seated), and parking is good. I shared the shrimp fried rice, lemon pepper wings, and catfish basket with someone in my group and neither of us were impressed. The food was medicore. Everything was under seasoned. Came here with a friend for his birthday. The business has some shady practices and the servers are rude. My friend is the type who like to eat 1 thing at buffets. I was eating a variety of food while he only wanted snow crab legs. This place isn't truly AYCE. They bring out one leg at a time, and the pace slows down more and more as you keep ordering.Then my friend said something about it, and thats when they started bringing out the food out faster again. I feel sorry for people who are too shy to speak up. That made the experience so much worse. We were twiddling our thumbs with sauced-filled gloves instead of eating and enjoying our time. I have been to hundreds of AYCE places in my lifetime, and this was the only place that actually enforced the time limit so aggressively. We still had 2-3 minutes left when the server shoved the check in our faces to rush us out. If you're going to enforce time limits, at least don't waste our time dragging your feet with the food service. If you are only here for snow crabs, you will probably get 7-8 clusters max. The owner was very rude and disrespectful. Very racist. Treated me and my husband as if we were criminals. All we did was order all you can eat. She would delay our food coming out because there was a 2-hour limit. Would serve one cluster at a time. Then accused us of stealing crab legs. I asked to speak to her, but she would not come out. When they say all you can eat, it's really all you eat. No jokes about it. You can start off with 3 appetizers or you can get straight into the seafood boil. I recommend not stuffing yourself with the appetizers as by time the boil comes you'll be too full to eat anything and then it's like you paid $53 for apps unless you want to spend additional $15 per pound to take your boil home. It's quite loud inside with the music and different groups. I asked for shrimp with the head ON (if you know you know) however my waiter didn't hear me due to the noise level and I was presented with shrimp with the head off. Also, I ordered wings as one of my apps and didn't get it until my boil came. - lots of confusion, might have been due to larger party nearby and supervisor kept asking all of the servers to help instead of tending to their individual tables. I'm not sure how the algorithm brought it to me on IG but I'm so happy that it did. If you're a fan of good drinks, great service and seafood/seafood boil's Diamond Crab is the place you want to be. The cherry on top is I don't have to travel far to get it! Diamond Crab is located Brandywine Crossing right next to the Starbucks. Once we walked in we were greeted by a friendly face and we opted to sit at the bar to watch one of the games that were on. They offer a variety of drink options and seafood options. The main selling point is all you can eat seafood boils for $39.99. Yes that's right I said all you can eat for $39.99!! The only catch is to get this amazing deal everyone in your party has to participate. This visit we tried the fresh raw oysters and seafood boils. The seafood was cooked well and the flavor that I went with medium lemon pepper garlic butter was delicious. The right amount of heat and flavor. I know this restaurant has JUST opened; and by that, I mean theyre currently having their "soft opening." So this review will be based solely on my first (and only) experience so far. **Long story short: don't come here during soft opening- wait for their grand opening and give them a few months to get everything in order.** I really wanted to give this place 1 to 2 stars but since the owner/manager was very apologetic at the end of our meal; I decided to bump it up to 3 stars. When we arrived, we had to wait in line for over 20 minutes..just to get our name on the waitlist. There were multiple families who said they waited over an hour and a half and still havent been seated; they mentioned that the restaurant was so chaotic that the bartender even walked out. That being said, they had multiple sections of the restaurant that were empty since they didn't have enough man power to serve all their guests. -The customers who were leaving, said there was a bunch of food sitting at the expo line waiting to be served. Once we got our name on the list, they gave us a link to where you could check your place in line. When you checked the link, it said "you missed your place" - a lot of people asked why that was and the manager said that the link wasn't working correctly. Let's skip to the part where we actually get seated.. a server comes by to take our drink orders & our first ayce order. The Starry soda tasted absolutely disgusting, like it was made with mop water. The orange soda tasted almost similar to starry as well. The only thing slightly better was their pepsi, but even then it was still not great. --[Food: 3 of 5] -- The eggs were overcooked, -Soup was bland but then tasted really good after eating all the seafood -Snowcrabs were extremely hard to get meat from- I had to use my teeth to break apart the legs and felt like I was going to chip a tooth -Dungeness Crab was sweet and good -Cocktail Shrimp: the shrimp was large but didn't taste that fresh -Hush Puppies: ok these were the best thing of the whole meal, it's light and has corn in it - tasted great with melted butter. -Corn was crunchy and sweet, so we really enjoyed that -Sausages are pork and the texture was nice and chewy --[Service: 1 of 5]-- I'm only giving this a 1 of 5 rating because (as mentioned above) the manager was extremely apologetic and tried to make us leave happy. Our server only stopped by 2 times the whole meal service. (1) During the greeting and drink order, (2) Dropping off our first food order. When our table finished half of the seafood boil, we waved down our server multiple times and she ignored us EVERY time. One time, we asked a busser to help us grab our server and when he did- she still ignored us. He said "they would like to order more, I can take their order" You know what she said? She said no. She said I'll come back to them later. Guess what? She didn't. 15-20 more minutes went by, our trash piled up on our table and still no one stopped by. Finally a different server stopped by to ask if we wanted anything but by that time we were so over this place and just wanted to leave so we asked for the manager to help us. We explained to the manager that we were being ignored by our server and the manager just kept apologizing and said that she was busy and didn't mean to ignore us on purpose. ...Well, another table that was being served by her... also complained about her and asked to check out with some one else. Their service ended up being so bad, that their table actually ran out on the check. I felt extremely bad that they did that. We were at the restaurant for over 2 hours and was served basically only once; we got served a second time only because the manager offered us another tray. I appreciate the manager being apologetic and I understand her frustration and she has a lot going on her plate. She discounted 1 ayce off our check, which was nice of her to do. [Ambiance] Not much to say about the ambiance, just your typical crab shack. --------- Tip: A restaurant should not have customers wait over 5 minutes to be waitlisted.. no matter how busy they are. I have worked in the food industry for over 10 years and this would not fly any where. They should have everyone trained on how to use the waitlist and should assist every customer who comes through the door. It's not a good look when we're waiting over 20 minutes... just to be put on a waitlist that's over 1.5 hours. Tip: Find experience servers & make them take accountability for their tables --------- For now my rating for them is 3 out of 5 stars; but I'll try them again in a few months to a year. O read more
