Best fried fish in town -depending on who cooked it. It's the worst feeling when you've been craving something and once you finally get it -- it doesn't satisfy your craving. Most of the time fish is a hit. But every now and then ( last night) to be precise, my fish was over cooked. I had to bite and pull with my teeth. By the time I started eating and realized it was overcooked, the kitchen was closed. The drinks don't always taste like what you asked for but they are strong if that's what you like. They have a police officer at the door most nights, which makes it feel a bit safer. It's definitely a cheers type of bar, everyone knows everyone. Music is old school for the most part, but they have a jukebox so the music can be adjusted. It's a nice hole in the wall. The bathroom really sucks. You have to dam near turn sideways and use the stall with the door opened. That's the one thing I hate about this spot. Seems like they tried to turn one unisex bathroom into 2 stalls. This is my FAVORITE bar in pg. I live in the neighborhood and there aren't too many bars that you can enjoy yourself while feeling "at home". Another one of those neighborhood bars where everyone seems to know each other and they're super friendly. It's a bit far from home, but I met up with a friend who had business in the area. One half of the place is the bar and several tables, while the other is more tables and a dance floor. A DJ was playing some old school jams on that side. When I ran to the bathroom, I passed by a table that had a big tub full of decks of cards. There was indeed a table of people playing card games, but I just assumed they brought their own. I've been to bars with pool tables and darts... but countless decks of cards, heck yeah! Admittedly though, the crowd made me feel like I was way too young for the place. It was definitely mostly folks in their 40s and up. I didn't get any food... there's not too much to choose from, but I get the feeling it tastes very good. I'll be trying food next time, along with figuring out what their schedule is... do they have a DJ every night? Is there ever karaoke? Live bands? Time well tell, but for now let me tell you about their drinks: GOOD STUFF! I got a rum & pineapple juice and tried a double deuce shot, which is vodka mixed with some other things. I love the food and the atmosphere. On any given day you can walk in on a few card games, hand dancing and karaoke. The patrons and staff treat you like a cousin they haven't seen in years. This place was a nice little spot to hang out and grab a drink, listen to some good music and dance a little. Its not a fancy place but its a decent place to kickback without a cover charge. I ordered one drink and that was enough. I guess I was having a bad day because all of my drinks I had today were too strong. You really can't enjoy your drink if it taste like pure alcohol. Talk about a good time! Tasty food, heavy handed bartenders and great Saturday night entertainment! Two bands play every Saturday starting around 11:30 and put on a really good show, if you like gogo music (which I love!) The staff is very friendly too. Definitely not the fanciest place around, but a good spot to go to party with a more mature crowd. I did not think it was special enough to get dressed up for, but there were a mixture of casual and dressed up folks. Most people there seemed 25+...may have been some younger ones sprinkled throughout. Definitely have to be 21 to get in though since they card at the door. There is a cover to get in after a certain time, not sure what that is though. My guess it is either $10 or $20 since there is live music. We got there around 9:30 and it had not started yet. This place is a prime example that you should never judge a book by it's cover. On the outside, it appears as divey as they come: it looks like it should be a store more than a bar/lounge. But once you walk through the door, you become instantly immersed with an atmosphere of laughter, good music, great smelling food, and a realyl chill vibe that could make even an out-of-towner feel like a regular. The place is definitely geared towards the 'grown and sexy' from what I could tell, but if you're a young buck with an old soul (like myself, lol) then you'll fit right in. The highlights of this particular location are the food, the AMAZINGLY talented karaoke participants (there were a couple of times where I would forget that these were 'regular' people singing live because it sounded so good) and the very hospitable and family vibe. The bartenders are very easy going and heavy handed, and while the prices for a few things would absolutely differ from a venue in DC, it works for the environment you get along with it. I would recommend having a birthday party here if you want a place to just relax, drink, eat, and associate like you did "back in the day". No frills corner bar with strong drinks and decent bar bites. The menu is small and limited but there's never a Shortage of entertainment. I went on a Tuesday and they had a DJ and were doing hand dancing something I've always wanted to learn. I really enjoyed watching the people glide across the floor and it inspired me to try and learn hand dancing. I will definitely come back. read more

Went there on a Saturday night to watch the Redskins vs. Philly game. Got there around 8:15pm and the crowd was a little older (maybe 45-60). The bar area was full and the second area near the DJ was empty. During the half time, the Dj started playing music and everyone started making their way over to the dance floor. There was only one bartender there on a Saturday night. Ordered a Long Island and it was amazing, after one I had a buzz and only spent $7.63. The only bad thing I can say about this place is that it's a little outdated and the bathrooms had a odor every time someone opened the door. I love this spot. It's a smallish spot, no pretense. I've been a few times and I always have a good time. The bartenders are good and they pour real nice drinks. The chicken wings have become my favorite thing in the world. And I love sliding through and seeing folks playing cards or hand dancing and just having a good time. Slightly older crowd - which works perfectly for me - but if you're looking for the youngin's they're not here. Friendly crowd and just an easy going vibe.
