I really wanted to catch Game 7 of the Pistons series (we won!!), so I decided to try Center Pocket. I had my fingers crossed that it would be on and it was!! I was so happy that I was able to get a seat at the bar to watch. To my surprise it was even Sunday HH!!. The bartender was really busy, but doing a great job. I had two drinks, a margarita and a specialty drink, Kiss on the . The Kiss on the was my fave. I've heard about their wings so I wanted to try them...I loved that there were so many sauce options. I was told to try the cheese steak egg rolls next time....and there definitely will be a next time. There was a good vibe with the crowd which I very much appreciated. I stopped in here with my girl after attending an event nearby. I did not know about Center Pocket and it's right here in Bowie. The owner gave us a thorough overview of the business and the vendors he supports by sourcing from them. The place was lively on a Monday night so I can only imagine what other days look like. There is a full service bar and kitchen for your food and drink orders and also areas you can rent out for events. I am making it a point to come back soon and play. read more

I don't know what may have bothered the female owner of this establishment but today was not her best. I walked in 90 plus degree day. My friend and I walked in not seeing or knowing about the "No Outside food or Drink Policy that she has at her establishment. In any case She approached us and informed us of the policy which I complied with. When I returned I noticed that what she said was not the truth in regards to what was posted on the exterior doors. There are no signs stating that no outside food or drinks are allowed, but my friend noticed that there where various tumblers all over the building with outside drinks in them. My issue is if you are going to enforce a no outside food or drink policy then enforce it properly. Don't pick and chose who you want to speak to about your policies. Just because you have faithful customers that she know and not know that people like myself that has been there several times patronizing your establishment have not seen her enforcing a policy like this and I have been coming there for over a year now. My suggestion is to fully enforce these policies hire staff to monitor everyone as they enter the building and all 4 points of entry as well as Leah needs to also learn how to be diplomatic as an owner when customer says that respectfully they are going to leave the situation alone, leave it alone. Don't make it seem like they are being disrespected when they are not. Then when her conversation has ended due to her not speaking, don't try and make a point by interjecting herself into another conversation to say that the customer is being disrespectful. It is not disrespectful when you finish speaking and the customer has already told you that you have proven your point and you continue the confrontation as if you are on the street. You run a business. Then for you to say under your breath that I am always going to be here as if you are going to prevent me from coming to your establishment and simply stating the facts that you pick and chose who you want to enforce policies with. read more

Center Pocket is a cool place to go for those who want to gather to play a game of pool at one of their many pool tables, or have a drink at the bar. We stopped in Center Pocket to catch the 2nd half of the Eagles vs Giants football game. We decided to sit at the bar and ordered two blood orange beers. They were very cold and crisp. Our bartender Nik was amazing. She was friendly and patient. We ordered the wings, fried mushrooms, fried mozzarella sticks, and fries. Everything was delicious. The place is HUGE -- seriously, so much space -- which makes it perfect for big groups, birthday celebrations, or just a night out with friends. The wings? Especially the honey Old Bay and jerk... I could eat those every day. The drinks were good too, but heads up -- the strawberry margarita was way too sweet for me (more like a dessert ). This is definitely a spot where locals go to hang out and shoot pool. It's cool they have leagues and plenty of pool tables. The bar was not prepared, and I had approached twice before ordering. When I finally ordered, I had to wait while the bartender searched in the back for a replacement bottle of what I had ordered. She wasn't very friendly and seemed like me ordering was a burden. That's so frustrating when you run into people like this. Another patron who seemed to be familiar with her even asked if she was ok. There are multiple sections from bar seats, pool tables with chairs around them and an area with a TV and tables to hang at that was kind of sectioned off. You can expect the normal bar food from their menu that consists of mostly fried items. I was surprised to find fried okra and was going to order it but it was taking too long to place an order at the bar which was the only place to order drinks and food. So yeah, not ideal even when you are seated. They did have multiple people running food after it was ordered. Will I be back . . . . . . I dunno. Since I started playing earlier this year, I have been exploring various pool halls in the area. I came across this one as they hosted one of the MVP tournaments. They have 7 ft tables just like bank shots bar and grill. However, the felt wasn't well maintained. I could see a lot of indentations on the felt. Some of these tables definitely need new felts. The bartenders' skill set seems limited to cracking open a beer or the occasional home event, so adjust expectations accordingly; a cold Coors Light is about as adventurous as it gets. Most of the staff is friendly, though one manager who appears to be well past her customer-service era might want to consider retirement--her attitude does the atmosphere no favors. I hope they let their grandmother retire and rest up for the next life. She clearly has had a rough last couple of years. Solid place to play pool, have a couple coldies and hangout. They have a really good happy hour menu and drink specials, which makes it worth going early. Everyone working there is really nice as well. Highly recommend the wings, they are solid and they offer a ton of wing sauce options. I have never stayed later than 9pm, but it does start to pick up around that time. They have a lot of tables though, so not sure if there is a wait. A friend of mine recently moved to Bowie from Alexandria and stumbled upon this hidden gem. This place will give you everything you're looking for if you're looking for a pool hall with a bar. There was plenty of parking as this is in an industrial park. There are plenty of pool tables 20+. Theres a sign up sheet, a TouchTunes Juke box (underrated bonus as you get to dJ), a bar, and waitresses. Ordering food is super simple as they have QR code menus. When you order online via the QR code you can also pay with ApplePay! I paid $8 for 5 mozzarella sticks. They were ok. There were a ton of options on the menu. The drinks were good and low priced. I paid $8 for Jack and Ginger Ale. No complaints there either. I will say this, this place gives the vibes of a hangout for pool semi-professionals. Most of the folks came with their own gear (I didn't even know there was pool "gear" until I saw it). Many brought custom pool sticks, pool stick extenders, chalk, chalk holders, gloves, and carrying cases. Definitely a great vibe to watch. read more

You can seat yourself and order food from the table using the QR code, but you have to order drinks through a server or go to the bar. Kyra, our server, was very friendly. It's a big place with just a few servers so you'll have to be patient if you want to order drinks from your table. The menu is fairly long and it's also affordable. I really enjoyed the honey lemon pepper wings; they were crispy, juicy, and flavorful. They have a waitlist to secure a pool table (about 30 min when we arrived at 8:30) but we just went for vibes so I don't know what the price is for that. read more

Center Pocket is a great spot. I came here to celebrate someone's birthday. We had three tables reserved. There are plenty of tables available, and some TV's sprinkled around. The customer service was fine, and we were able to participate in happy hour. I really enjoyed the spicy mumbo sauce wings and fries. The chilli and chips left a little to be desired, but they were okay. I definitely recommend checking this spot out. The food is good, the prices are reasonable. This place is going down hill fast. The service this past Saturday was a complete nightmare. It was a free for all situation. If you wanted to play pool, order a drink, start or close a tab; you had to wait a minute of 20-30 minutes at the bar which is completely unacceptable! I played pool for an hour, but had to pay for an hour and half because it took staff 30 minutes to close me out. The tables looked terrible compared to my last visit. The felt was old and extremely dirty. I will be back when management gets their standards up. read more

the wait staff is satisfactory but overall customer service is terrible. We had to argue and debate the owner over payment for a spilled drink. The owner told the customer that the policy is if you knock your drink over you pay for it. Then said we know other establishments don't do this but we do. We had a party of eight and ordered several drinks and meals I was told by the owner we are not Friday's and can't afford to replace drinks. I love Center Pocket! I have hosted two events at CP and have had a great experience. The coowner, Leia is so sweet and made our group experience memorable . I was looking for a place to host a social event and I was pleasantly surprised. There is plenty of parking, the place is huge , there is a full bar, and the pool tables are fun! The chicken wings and fries are delicious. The drinks are strong and the tvs have all the games. On Wednesday, there is a DJ which makes the venue lit and lively! How did I not know this place existed?! And it's Black-owned?! Come on. So I met up with a group there last Wednesday (right before the rain) and my jaw immediately dropped when I saw what looked to be ~30 pool tables scattered around the room. Before playing though, I walked to the bar and saw a cool cocktail menu. I decided to go with the Chalky Pool Cue, which had rum, blue curacao and a couple other things. Great drink! Meanwhile, the event organizer had rented out some pool tables, so I picked up a stick and got right to it. I spent the next couple hours playing, meeting new people, and snacking and drinking. And the whole time the music was fun and we had staff checking in on us -- much appreciated! I also took time to walk around and really observe the place. The bathrooms are conveniently located right near the front door -- but if you're in the back corner, oof you have a long walk haha. And I also peeped a giant jenga, card games and a dart board. The place has a lot of potential! I only had the wings, but those were good. I will be trying the other food when I get a chance! And I don't have anything to compare to, but the pool table rental prices seem reasonable... and the lunch deal where you can play free as long as you eat is cool! Must return soon.
