Jaspers is the spot to go if you're looking for strong drinks and solid food. Although I no longer live in the area, I was looking forward to stopping by during my trip and it felt nostalgic. Going on a Friday night I just knew it would be packed, but surprisingly it was easy to get a spot at a table near the bar. The wait for a table in the main restaurant was running about 40 mins, but would have risked not being seated before the kitchen closed. Despite the bar being busy, we were greeted and served pretty quickly. The DC tap water is my go to drink and you definitely get your moneys worth. My husband ordered the hurricane and was very satisfied with the amount of liquor he could actually taste. For meals I had to get the tiger wings. I love that sauce so much and wish they sold the sauce by itself. Also got a side of the greens which were tasty and not overcooked, I just feel like the flavor is something I would get tired of after a while. My husband ordered the jambalaya and it was also good. When we lived in the area we used to frequent the restaurant for happy hour. They have remained consistent and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the DMV. read more

Enjoyed Father's Day for the all-you-can-eat brunch this year. My friends and I were visiting and this gem was in walking distance. The buffet didn't disappoint with everything from the omelette station, carving station (roast beef and turkey), pasta, jambalaya, fried chicken and all the breakfast favorites. The restaurant is very spacious with lots of levels that are 2-3 steps up or down. Be careful to catch them all and not stumble. The service was my star deduction. The wait was 1.5 hours (added our names remotely) but upon arrival there seemed to be confusion. A server never came to take drink orders or provide silverware. We even got our first plates with nothing then had to ask the manager. She had someone come by but it was strange for such a busy day to forget us or not have assigned servers. Overall, the food was inconsistent. Some things were bland and others seasoned very well. The turkey sausage was mid and grits had no flavor - cheese grits at that. Finally made it to the infamous Jasper's and yes, the reputation precedes them for good reason. The pours are generous. Very generous. Consider yourself warned and delighted. Food was consistent and tasty across the board. I kept it light with a salad and even that impressed me, which says something. The combo appetizers were a hit, everything landed. Honestly the biggest surprise was the space itself. Based on word of mouth I wasn't expecting much, but this place is significantly bigger and nicer than the reputation suggests. Clean, great decor, and music to my ears..plenty of parking! So, this is my second time in the area and I have always heard about Jaspers but never made my way there the first time around. One day we bit the bullet and said lets try this place. This place is pretty big and I am curious with the setup if Jaspers was another type of "entertainment" establishment where more than the drinks would be shaking. Well, a quick search answered my question, and it once was once the BET Soundstage where they filmed videos of Uncut. IYKYK. I am not sure of that last part about Uncut actually. What I do know is that Jaspers is well worth a return. From the looks this place stays busy and a definite local spot for some. Service was pretty good and it is no different than many places where some are doing more than others and so glad we had someone who was focused and answered our questions. I started off with a drink called the Darth Vader. It is strong but not to the point where you taste just alcohol. I highly recommend the Chino Latino Rolls. I wish they had some avocado lime crema to go with it but this app was good with the sour cream. The appetizer came out hot and was not waiting under some heat lamp. I went with the bacon cheeseburger at a medium rare. This place has a very good burger, and it was better than some places that charge way more. Put this place in for top burgers in the DMV. No complaints and this is a good place to checkout. It took me a minute to get here but glad I did finally. A second visit is a must for me. read more

I went to Jasper's on a Friday afternoon with a friend and this place was PACKED. This is definitely a popular spot but honestly, I can see why. The food was sooo good, especially the tiger wings. I was surprised! Pleasantly. There were so many people here at 1pm in the afternoon on a weekday. All they needed was a dj and live band and you would think you were at a day party. Located in an area that has plentiful parking, a drive up area for to go orders, Jaspers seems to have something for everyone. Reservations are not needed but it'd be wise to coordinate if you will have a party of six or larger. This allows the correct number of servers to be assigned to your group in advance to manage things. Plenty of TVs if you want to just come watch an event and have a meal. There is a bar here and the drinks were good on my visit. Happy hour starts at 4p and there are food and drink specials available. We arrived earlier than happy hour but the portions and drink options were good to go. I went with the chicken and shrimp Alfredo with broccoli. It was enough for my appetite and needed just a pinch of salt and pepper. Our server was getting her steps in. She was attentive and made sure to balance time between us and her other tables. The food and drink orders came out right but the food could have been warmer. Booth, table and bar seating is available. Payments can be made via cash or credit card and no additional fee if using card. There were no surprise fees when the bill came. I am only speaking to their Sunday Brunch. I love that they have so many options. I just wish there was more flavor in those options. This is my 4th time here and it's been the same so I like their consistency and because they're consistent I believe it to be intentional. I will say that there is often an older crowd here which to me, makes total sense of why the food isn't packed with a whole lot of flavor and salt. I would just appreciate if there were just a little bit more. Just enough that I would be able to add a little bit of salt and pepper to it and make it perfect. And if I'm being completely honest, the only thing that is lacking in flavor are the meats. Everything else I think tastes great. The vibe is good. The music is sometimes too loud to have a decent conversation with your table when there are also other tables having conversation but that seems to be the norm for brunch. Visiting from San Francisco, my man suggested we come here to satisfy my seafood cravings. From the outside, this place looks massive, and it definitely lives up to its size inside. It's the perfect spot to eat and watch sports--TVs everywhere, all showing sports. My kind of place! The wait wasn't long, and with the AC blasting, I had no problem waiting. Our server was Paula, who had great energy and patiently dealt with our silly antics. The menu had me second-guessing what I wanted to order. For appetizers, we went with the fried salmon sticks and the super combo, which included wings, chino egg rolls, and chicken fingers. If you can't handle spicy like me, stay away from the chino egg rolls--those chicken pieces were on fire! My man would probably disagree, though. The wings were fantastic, and the chicken fingers with that orange sauce were absolutely delicious! The appetizers arrived and disappeared in less than five minutes. I really enjoyed the salmon sticks--something I'd never imagined trying before. For our entrees, I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of jumbo lump crab cake. My husband went with the spicy shrimp and chicken pasta. By the time our food arrived, we were both already overwhelmed--plus, the portions were huge. We couldn't believe how big the plates were. We knew we were going to need to-go boxes. The grits were just the way I like them, and the shrimp added an extra level of flavor that elevated the dish entirely. I have been visiting Jasper's on a Saturday for the past few month and ordering the delicious Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich. Unfortunately, today, the manager Alfonso Saldana, refused to allow me to order the sandwich. I completely understand that policies change. Unfortunately, he stated that this has never been allowed and he would have to charge me for a Salmon BLT that costs $19.75 as opposed to the $15.00 chicken sandwich. His statement is contrary to my experience and I didn't appreciate his acting as though I was not being honest. Well, I won't be returning there for lunch on a Saturday. Jasper's is a family-owned restaurant, the building used to be the soundstage for BET (fun fact!). I've been here quite a few times, and each visit has been great. Whether it's the vibe from the wait staff, the spinach dip that's always on point, or the top-tier people watching lol, it never disappoints. I recently placed a curbside order from Jaspers in Largo, MD, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. As soon as I picked up the bag, there was a very strong rancid smell that followed us all the way home. When I got home and hecked the items, we discovered the odor was coming from the chicken thighs, which smelled spoiled. I immediately called the restaurant and drove back. Although the staff did allow me to exchange the item, I was told the smell "could be the grease," which didn't match my expectations at all. In addition to that, when I started eating my turkey burger, I found hair in the food. At that point, it was clear the quality control and food handling were not where they should be. This was definitely not the experience I expected, and it left me very hesitant to order from Jaspers again. read more

Met a coworker here after work and we just sat at the bar but there was amble seating all across the restaurant for both small and large parties! The bartenders were all very friendly and all worked great together when one got busy to help make sure we always got anything we needed. Overall the staff was very friendly and so were all of the patrons! We struck up many great conversations with people all through the night as I feel the atmosphere of the whole restaurant creates a very welcoming and friendly environment! We got some items off their appetizer and entree menu and everything was delicious! We spoke with the bartender on some suggestions and both of them were exactly what we were looking for. The food was hot, fresh, and flavorful! The portions were also very large and filling! We wanted to order more items from the menu from what we saw others ordered at the bar but we were too full and said we would definitely have to come back next time for sure! At a convention at the Harbor with coworkers and when the subject of dinner came up Jasper's was suggested!! We were seated at a bar booth and our drink orders were taken upon being seated. Our server Sudan was Phenomenal!!! He is Great at what he does. He should be at the bar serving drinks and talking people up for real!!! Food menu is on point. The seafood options are dominating this menu and offer some delicious dishes like the salmon bites, crab egg rolls and tiger shrimp!!! The sangria was good in both versions. Stopped by Jasper's for lunch with some colleagues. I was the first to arrive and was still able to be seated, even though I asked for a table for four, and I was the only one there at the moment. The server came over shortly after, introduced himself, and took my drink order. He confirmed I had others joining and checked back in periodically until my party arrived. We ordered the crab egg rolls for the table, and for my entrée, I got the salmon BLT with fries. The egg rolls weren't very good--they seemed like they were baked, not deep-fried. The outside wrap was extremely dry, and even with the dipping sauce, it just didn't work for me. The salmon BLT was seasoned well and cooked just right, and the fries were nice and crispy. I asked for the mustard on the side because I wasn't sure if I would like it (and I didn't). I also asked for ranch on the side to add to my sandwich, but I didn't like their ranch. The sandwich was good, but it would've been better with the right sauce--maybe a remoulade or Cajun aioli of some sort. The place was huge and bustling for lunch. I would definitely return. I love Jasper's. Been going here for every bit of 20+ years. Didn't really go to this location as much as I used to frequent the one in Greenbelt. That one was a whole vibe, especially on Friday nights - It was almost like a club. When that one closed I started coming here. Glad they got rid of the "BET Soundstage" concept and just returned to Jasper's. Great place for drinks, cold beer on tap, and a decent to nice meal. It's like Prince George's County's version of "Cheers." Terrific place to people watch. I love the tiger wings and the crab egg rolls. Lots of lump meat in those egg rolls. They can stand to season the wings a bit better, but it's still a good wing. I enjoy happy hour here when happy hours really aren't as abundant as they were pre-COVID. HH has always been good at Jasper's. Even after that lady's unfortunate demise in the bathroom a while back at this location people have continued to come. And that includes me, I'm "people." Parking is never a problem as they have their own lot and it's easily convenient for most of the county and even as far up as Baltimore. read more

The baked shrimp with crab imperial was awful. It was tasteless and the shrimp tasted like they were taken from a shrimp cocktail platter. I would not recommend this fish. I've ordered from Jasper's takeout before but this was my first time eating inside of the restaurant. Jasper's is a huge restaurant with a nice bar area with plenty of booths and high top tables. Our waitress was so professional and friendly. She gave great suggestions and checked on my table often without being a nuisance. I ordered the sweet red sangria, the chicken tenders and fried shrimp platter with a side of grilled asparagus. The food was pretty good. My only issue was with my baked potato. I asked for extra butter on the side but it came on top. I can't believe I am saying this but, it was way too much of the butter and it seemed more of a vegetable spread than actual butter. Well. The food is good. It's a primarily black customer establishment. I walked in and got all the usual "why are you here" stares. Found a bar spot. 3 black bartenders. 1 white. Josh. After getting ignored for a bit Josh stops by and I order a beer. Got a menu. None of the other bartenders even acknowledged me. Finished beer. Got the "are you sticking around". Um yes. Ordered wings. Wings come. No napkins. I tried to flag down female bartender for napkins. She completely ignored me. Josh comes back. I Ask for napkins. He tosses me a pile of little bar napkins that were in front of me..ok. Person comes in sits next to me. He gets a full silverware set and napkins before he even orders. I get it. I don't belong here but wow. As I'm sitting there female bartender is making a drink. Drops the shaker on the floor. Picks it up and pops the glass out and finishes drink..you just made a drink after dropping the shaker on the floor. No rinse. No nothing. Sitting with empty glass and she is taking drink orders of people standing behind me. Not even looking at me. If it wasn't for Josh I doubt I would have got served at all. Ordered to go pasta. Order comes out. No napkins no plastic silverware. Could not flag anyone down as they were sitting on the drink station and ice machine..kind of unsanitary but no worse than picking drink up off floor. Had a couple patrons ask " you leaving anytime soon". All and all the food is pretty good but not worth the profiling and stares. Will find some place else to spend my money. read more

Whenever I'm on this end of town I place a carryout order for one thing and one thing only; TIGER WINGS. I order them fried hard so they have a crunch to them even with all the sauce. The sauce for me is a perfect balance of sweet and slight spice but the thing that seals the deal is the BLUE CHEESE DRESSING DIPPING SAUCE. Spoiler alert is you will never get more than 1 no matter how many times you ask; you get 1 blue cheese and 1 ranch but I'm going to still keep asking. read more

Jaspers was such a great experience, first and foremost thank you Angel (it was her second day working here) and she served PHENOMENALLY! She was very personable and made my first experience at Jaspers all the more memorable. Let's start with the yummy bread rolls. I'm not a bread person at all, but THAT was delicious! I don't know if it was the bread or the butter but the added sweetness did it for me. I ordered the Ciroc Punch which I wasn't the biggest fan of--it came with no ice, so it was very warm, in a very large glass (as pictured). I think if they would have added some ice I would have enjoyed it more, but it was definitely warm and strong. My food was AMAZING! I mean just look at the photo, yummy to my tummy! Very flavorful, I loved the sauce such a great addition. I will say that without the sauce the dish would have not been as satisfying as the seafood items were minimally seasoned. The jumbo lump crab was an add on and worth every penny--SUPER meaty and delicious! My only disappointment was that it was presented cold instead of warmed, but I added it to my dish which made it enjoyable.
