Felt a bit like a forgotten soul here - service was fairly slow, never really caters to your table all that much if you're getting the brunch buffet - but yet you end up paying out the wazoo for your food nonetheless. Personally, I ordered an entree while the rest of my table did the buffet so I think that is why I felt it most. Very open-aired space that was very fun in-appearance, but fairly not well lit and also noise level was pretty high despite us being shoved into a corner booth away from everyone else. My crabcake was... fine - I love shoestring fries too, so those were a hit :) otherwise, for as much as you end up paying for the buffet, you get full after one plate and still pay $30 for it. Late night, weekend stop at Jasper's. The wait was originally 45-1hour wait. To put your name on the waiting list you provide a telephone number. When asked for my number the hostess fumble my number. When I noticed the foyer was cleared out and still havent been called I then had to wait another 15minutes. Mistakes happen and why I deducted a star. Once seated, every table appeared to be having a good time. The drinks were worthwhile and can be a little dangerous if you dont know your limits. Our appetizer and entrees came out at the same time so we had plenty to take home. Food was 9/10. Definitely will come back to explore more of the menu. Music was subtle but still able to hear conversation at your table. Great place to be on the weekend for dinner and drinks late night. read more

Let me start off by saying I usually enjoy Jaspers, I have been here several times. I enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere. However, this past Sunday the customer service from the short, round, Hispanic manager and an older black, male server were deplorable. First of all, I have been here a few times and what I've always seen was that the high tops by the bar are self seating. I walked in and those of the high tops were empty, I knew my three other guests would join me soon. I saw the older black gentlemen cleaning one of them so I just proceeded to ask him "hey are these self seating?". He answered begrudgingly with a low mumble "yes." So I walk over to the bar, order a drink after a while I still see those tables empty and I'm still waiting for my other guests to arrive. So I ask the bartender are the high tops self seating she tells me yes. I'm like perfect, so I close my tab at the bar and go back to the high top. After a while my three other guests arrive and we are looking to order. Here comes the round and short manager very rudely tells us to get up his server already told me this was not self seating. He has a NASTY and deplorable attitude. We are trying to explain to him the communication issues between HIS staff members, he continues to shake his head like he didn't want to hear it. The server comes over and with a nasty attitude and with much more base in his voice says to me "I already told you, you couldn't sit here". So my friend says so is that why you was just staring at us this whole time without greeting or serving us? He says YES that's exactly why! I say to him sir why couldn't you simply come back to me and ask me why was I sitting here and I would have told you the bartender let me know it was okay to sit here. Then the round manager proceeded to say he would get the cops on us! What?!?? We were not yelling, cussing or causing a scene and you as a Hispanic man want to threaten black people to get the police? For what? For what reason? The service from those two individuals were terrible. I've never encountered a staff that were petty, unprofessional and rude. Even with all their nasty attitudes we STILL managed to sit at another high top with other guests that literally confirm to us they too sat themselves! So which is it? We enjoyed serviced from another young lady and we tipped her well! That's what is really crazy, we go to jaspers all the time, spend money and tip well. Jaspers is a staple in this area but I haven't been in at least 15yrs. It also doesn't help that someone got stabbed in the parking lot just last weekend and they found a dead body in the bathroom over the summer. Nonetheless, A homegirl of mine had a birthday gathering this past week and it was cool for what it was. The food was good but the service lacked a bit, to our waiters credit they did seem pretty busy but he disappeared for chunks of time and my carry out order took 45mins (tiger wings & calamari) to come out. Overall: Tiger wings - basically sweet chili wings 10/10 Calamari - great consistency, sauce was a great pairing but the serving was small 7/10 Old bay wings - Torch, great crunch and the house sauce was great with them. 10/10. Ambiance - the only thing I'll complain about is the bathroom, it was filthy. However, a young lady told me my hair was pretty as f*ck and she liked my pants. Maybe I'll find love in here hahaha. I've been coming to jaspers since I was in elementary school and it has always been consistent. The customer service is good but not great although I've had some servers that were great. My favs are spicy shrimp and chicken pasta, the tiger shrimp, crab cake egg rolls, French fries and the salmon blt. The drinks aren't consistent as far as taste and how much alcohol they put it them it's like a Russian roulette either you get a good drink or you don't lol the vibe of this place is like a big lounge and it is loud. Staying at nearby hotel, reviews mostly good so gave it a try tonight. Sat at the bar. Still happy hour. Bar maid was pleasant and attentive. Ordered a tall cider (on tap). $1 off for happy hour. Hungry but not starving. Ordered the blackened cod tacos from the appetizer menu and the chicken and sausage gumbo. The tacos were excellent and presented well. Over-stuffed with ingredients. Slice of avocado on top of each was a nice touch. The tacos were fresh tasting and filling. Gumbo was also very good. Served with a scoop of rice in the center. The seafood I had was very bland and tasted like it was simply warmed up and covered in Old Bay. I couldn't see or taste any oils, butter, garlic or any seasoning at all. The shrimp were overcooked and rubbery. The brussel sprouts were supposed to have a sauce and they never did (as pictured). It was just a disappointing experience overall. The dip was on the fluffier side, maybe they use cream cheese, regardless it was tasty. I also had the white sangria, which was good! My husband and I had lunch at Jasper's last Thursday. It was my third time there...once for brunch and twice for lunch. The decor is impressive and ambience was relaxing. The food has never disappointed. On my most recent visit, I ordered the burger with mushrooms, onions, cheddar, tomato and romaine. It was cooked perfectly and delicious. Hubby liked his buffalo wings and salad as well. He shared the vanilla ice cream that came with his delicious brownie. It reminded me of the hand-churned ice my Nana used to make...yummy!!! Quincy provided excellent service and we told him so with a tip that reflected his effort. I look forward to returning soon because my experiences have been consistently positive. When we came in we were seated immediately. Our waiter came over with a smile and grace. His infectious, personable personality was immediately felt as we just left a restaurant near by because the service was awful. Our waiter's name was Keion. If you ever visit Jaspers, do not pass go, ask for KEION! He happily took our order, checked on us throughout our stay and made small talk as we got to learn a little about this amazing individual. Our food was served hot and super yummy. The place was busy and jumping as all the waiters were working from what I observed! He just hit the mark with everything , order correct, and attentiveness correct. My party was so pleased with the service we received we had to speak with the manager to let them know they had a star on their hands. To our surprise the manager was a direct reflection of the waiter. The manager while talking with us cleared the table as we had just finish putting our food into our Togo boxes. I've been to Jaspers a couple times for drinks or lunch but this was my first time visiting for brunch. Sunday is their AYCE (all you can eat) brunch buffet and I left pleasantly full. A picture of plate number one is attached. My favorite items were the meats (bacon and I think the deep fry their breakfast sausage) and these little nuggets of French toast in some kind of delicious sauce. Seriously good. I was seriously impressed by those French toasts, so much that it over shadowed the less than good non-breakfast food table. Carved roast was a little dry, Mac n cheese had no seasoning (was giving Velveeta shells n cheese) and the mussels were especially fishy. Not sure if that was the intent but I did not enjoy those. This was still a worthwhile brunch for the price, two people for ~$58, and service. Bottomless mimosas were not included but I did get a couple individual mimosas for $5 each. If I could compare the brunch to something it would be a more elevated (food-wise) version of a hotel or resort AYCE breakfast. Other brunch selections some that I did not have were the omelet station which did have shrimp, fruit and yogurt, breads and pastries, and the rest of the hot food/non breakfast stuff. My friend enjoyed the omelets although she said the shrimp had no seasoning and I had the fruit and it was fresh with a good variety. Our server was Chris and he was great. All in all if you've been to Jaspers you know it's a bar/restaurant but the crowd was very much post-Sunday service and families so if you need to bring the baby you are fine to do so. Sometimes there is riff raff at Jaspers but I think the Sunday brunch crowd just comes to eat. My friend invited me here Friday evening for happy hour. I'm pretty new to the area still, so this was my first time at the restaurant. The hosts were nice and welcoming and did a great job seating everyone even though it was very busy. Our server was great and very attentive. The server even bought me some cherries for my drink since it didn't have any garnish. I ordered two appetizers: the crab cake eggrolls and the spinish dip. The eggrolls were great, filled with a lot of meat, and fried to perfection, but I was not a fan of the spinish dip. Unfortunately, it was cold when delivered, unseasoned, and had a weird texture. It is pretty big on the inside but I'm sure it gets filled up on weekends, normally. I did go on a Saturday but the weather was pretty bad so I'm sure it kept a few people inside. I had went by myself and was hoping to get a seat at the bar but the bar was full so I ended up getting a table. I was told that it was going to be a 10-15min wait for the table but it was ready almost immediately. My waitress was very nice. She didn't rush me to order or to give me the check once I finished. I ordered the pomegranate martini, sour apple martini, and the shrimp and grits. I really liked the pomegranate martini. This will likely become one of our new favorite happy hour spots because they had so many delicious items on the menu! we had a variety of happy hour items, including the colossal crab cocktail, Chino Latino egg rolls (make sure you get the creamy Italian dressing with these), boneless wings three ways- I liked all the flavors but the sweet tiger chili was my favorite, New Orleans Spiced Shrimp (this is kind of like a broth that you're supposed to dip the bread in and eat with the shrimp), and Parmesan Crispy Fried Salmon Bites! For drinks, I got the lavender squeeze, martini and babe got two drinks, the FB Manhattan and the Jaspers Old Fashion. The service was good exclamation I server was really nice. Very chill and didn't leave any details out. Everything was prompt and on point if we asked for an extra sauce or something or any strange request, he was on it! he also had another big party that he was helping so great with balancing time. we do always have a little weight to get seated when we go to Jaspers's but I guess they're just trying to make sure that everyone has a good rotation and that once you are seated, you're not left out or forgotten. The Ambiance is nice- sports bar, kind of classic and very open. Their brunch is good and you can get a lot for a good price... I used to go to happy hour here all the time and I'm glad we returned. Me & my husband went to Maryland to visit family, and we stayed in Upper Marlboro, MD. We checked into our hotel and was hungry we didn't know the area, so we drove around and we found Jasper's. We decided to go inside and just look at the menu; we thought it had a good vibe even though they had a Police car in front of their front door. (thought that was odd) We were seated right away, and David was our waiter, very nice and helpful in helping us decide on what to order. David had a welcoming face, and he looked like he was happy to work there. We came back there to eat before we left back to CA, and we sat at the Bar ordered food, and David brought our food out to us. "He's like you are back?" I was really surprised he remembered us. The service was good, food was great, and I even ordered food to go. I brought the Sweet Potatoes back to CA and let my daughter try it, she wanted more. We arrived around 10:50 PM to sit at the bar, but it was full, so we settled at a nearby high top. After being ignored by our server for over five minutes, we were told at 10:56 PM that the kitchen was closed. Strangely, as soon as the men at the next table pushed back, the server magically let them order food. So clearly, the kitchen wasn't "closed"--just selectively closed. The situation got worse. Around 12:07 AM, the heavy set female manager with dreads--loud, rude, and clearly favoring the male guests--started yelling at everyone. She was nice and jolly to the men but very disrespectful toward us. She shouted at us to leave, repeatedly asked the server if we had paid, and hovered aggressively while I was finishing my last bit of salad. When I said I didn't need a box, she snapped, "Well, we're closed, make your way to the door." Completely unprofessional. The whole environment felt hostile, unwelcoming, and frankly, discriminatory. To top it off, they stopped serving bread before 11 PM--why, if they're "open" until midnight? I've never felt more disrespected at a restaurant. Was visiting the area to go to the Washington Commanders game on Sunday. When we arrived at our hotel on Saturday, we saw Jasper's. We went there for dinner. Had to sit at the high tops by the bar as the hostess said they were booked, but we saw empty tables (it was around d 4:30 pm). Anyway, we sat by the bar and had a delicious dinner. The shrimp and grits were exceptional and my husband's dinner was the fried chicken. The white sangria was the best. We had dinner, caught up on the days' college football scores.
