My wife and I are at National Harbor for the week and this place is exactly what the doctor ordered to get away from the convention center-type atmosphere and food. But the ladies restroom is deplorable!!! one of the bathroom doors are completely off the hinges and one of the bathrooms are not in service! I am so glad I was finally able to come inside this neighborhood bar! The last time I was in the area it was I believe 2021 and I don't think they weee still open due to Covid and all that stuff. But being able to finally step in and experience the atmosphere it was awesome. Now coming inside you just find someone to sit and you will have to walk up to the bar to grab your drinks. I didn't see any waitresses coming out to the tables so just keep that in mind. I do remember that the food was to go back in 2020-2021 which was really good at that time. I have been to this bar maybe a total of 5 times now or maybe more and it is a nice little neighborhood bar. It reminds you of the black version of Cheers but everyone is invited. The food is good but not amazing. I personally would recommend the crab dip and the catfish nuggets, both of which has never disappointed me. The wings I hear are hit and miss sometimes depending on the flavor you ordered because some does not have enough flavor and some be too much. The ambiance is nice, not too bright and not too dark. Most days I have went, it is always crowded but I've only been on weekends. Most times I have saw the same faces but they are friendly, don't know if it's them or the liquor. Staff has always been friendly, although sometimes it takes a while to get to you because it's usually two bar tenders and two waitress, but if you have patience it can really be a good time. The people are chill and just want to socialize and listen to music. Lizzie is a great bartender and ensures that you get what you ask for. The drinks are good, just make sure to get top shelf as the rail drinks aren't the best. I also would stick to a general drink versus trying to get a specialty cocktail. The wings were decent, but needs some more seasoning. Overall, we had a good time. Just make sure to come before 10 as we were surprised that the kitchen was closed up on arrival (got the wings later after chatting with the bartender). This spot has gone through many changes and I've been going for five years now. Its a friendly atmosphere. Food isn't bad at all but, I don't mess with their side dishes. Service is pretty good, bartenders are AMAZING! Shout outs to Liz & Amanda, they never disappoint! I love the energy during football season and game nights! I went in to buy some liquor. Wanted to buy one bottle but was told it was not in the system and they would not sell it for the price listed, I would have to wait for the GM to come in and price it. So I bought another bottle I wanted to tr ugh for $62. Asked for a price on a bottle I saw on the way out and it rang up as $250. I needed more money so I decided to wait until the next day when the GM comes in for the other bottle. I come back the very next day and the bottle that rang up $250 miraculously rings up $300 now. The bottle I bought I wanted another since it tasted good and is now $89, even though sticker still says $62. It's bad enough some of the prices are marked 20%-600% over retail of other stores but they want to raise the price of bottles people are asking about just 1 day before, and even come back to try to purchase? One day while in this tavern, I ordered a fish sandwich which was supposed to be served on a bun but was served on two hot dog rolls. A few days later while there, I noticed someone order the same sandwich which was served on a bun. When I mentioned this to the manager, I received a very negative reply saying, since she wasn't there and didn't see it, it was no concern of hers and nothing she could do. I wasn't expecting a free sandwich, but was expecting her to show some concern and say she would make sure it would not happen again. This is my local watering hole. Since the other two bars have closed namely the Gameroom people have migrated over to Sunnybrook. People go not just for the reasonably priced drinks and food but for the friendly atmosphere along with the weekly food specials. The kitchen staff does a pretty job and if you like soup then the chicken and rice will satisfy your needs. If you want a sassy waitress then Miss Mary will give you a run for your money. Also there's the very vivacious Liz who is equipped with the wit of a snapping turtle. And the gentle talent of Isaac the bartender. The restaurant is great! However- the liquor store personnel are the worst! Today, I went to purchase a few bottles of sake, as I have done in the past. When I asked the first guy at the counter where was the sake, he didn't seem to understand my request and shook his head "no". Then I asked the second guy at the counter where was the sake and he said that they didn't have any. I then looked for myself, found the sake on the shelf and held the bottle for them both to see. The second counter person said that "you didn't ask for rice wine" and pointed to the area where the Japanese whiskey was displayed. I replied, "sake is rice wine" and when I took the bottle to the counter, he refused to acknowledge that I was right, and became even more arrogant and disrespectful. He then said that he didn't have time to talk about it, pulled out a cell phone and began talking on the phone. I told him that since he didn't have time to talk, then I didn't have time to buy at this store! I then left the store, but subsequently ran into the owner in the parking lot who recognized me as a frequent customer. When I told him of the incident, he immediately apologized and asked me to return inside and identify the disrespectful employee. When we both entered the store, I identified the rude employee to the owner who promptly lied and told the owner that he was on the phone ordering liquor. I called him out on his lie and added that his disrespect was witnessed by two customers who were there and third employee! He knew he was wrong but apparently felt it was beneath him to apologize This is still another example of a business (new management) moving into a black neighborhood where we spend our money but are disrespected. I AM NOT ONE OF THEM! First time going, the place was cool. Had a dj and nice vibes. My date and I ordered fried whole wings, fries, mozzarella sticks and crab balls. The wings and fries were good nothing special but still tasty. However, the crab balls tasted like they were microwaved. The mozzarella sticks were bland and can also tell they were microwaved, not even freshly cooked. The next day, my date gotten food poisoning and we believe that it's the mozzarella sticks because we ate just about the same thing but I didn't eat as much of the mozzarella sticks than he did. The wings are one of my favorites and you can't go wrong at al with them. The steamed shrimp are also amazing and are cooked to perfection. The drinks are cheap all the time unless you order the top shelf stuff, thats expected. They also have a menu that is not advertised, but if you look around the bar you will find it. The absolute worst service I've ever received! The bartender Liz was very disrespectful towards me and my family as well as Leanne the server. I walked in and asked Leann, "Excuse me, can we sit anywhere?" She ignored me and proceeded to rush pass me. Both of the women who offended me were white, and as a black woman it made me feel very uncomfortable. Regardless of the fact that most of the people who were in the establishment were black, I had my own experience.
