This is a hidden Gem. At night it's a college bar but during the day I enjoy driving down to catch a CAPs game. Just pizza and chips for food but the beer is cold and the drinks are strong. The bar tenders are extremely friendly. Great place to get cheap cold drinks and watch a game. read more

Cash bar, they have an ATM but there's a tidy little surcharge, so watch out for that. Alright so here goes: Walk in and dog goes running by. But it is a nice dog. There is a big bar with four people sitting on one corner. I think they knew I was a newbie since I came in the front door. I ask for a menu and they say they have pizza, peanuts and can make me some popcorn. I pick pizza. It was fine. Not bad at all. It never got more crowded. But it was a Tuesday in the summer. When I was ready to go well I got my credit card out and they said they only take cash. Well my bill after pizza and a few beers was 16 bucks. Oh and the pizza was pretty big. Thomas the bartender was great. I am back for taco Wednesday. And I like dive bars over chains. I went to college here and it's the only show in town but the best. It's like the "Cheers" of St Mary's county; you know the bartenders, the same old same old drinks and pizza, but it's okay. Best kept secret: taco wednesdays. $5 gets you a margarita and 2 beef tacos. Heaven! read more

This is the place to go for a younger crowd, especially when college semesters are back in session. However, St. Mary's College alumni and locals still frequent this place as it really is just chill. A kind of hole-in-the-wall in southern St. Mary's. There are some activities to do here (pool, darts, beer pong, a couple arcade games) and the prices for drinks and their weekly specials are very wallet friendly. It is a cash bar only, but they have an atm you can use if need be. Everyone is very friendly too. Pizza and pitcher night is a go for everyone as well as Taco night. Fun fact of the day: This place used to have a dirt floor and it was awesome. They upgraded to a wooden floor and it is still good too. My wife and her friends attempted to scare me with stories from past visits to the Green Door. I was pleasantly surprised to find a spacious dive bar with cheap beer (I hadn't seen a 10oz Coors can before) and a special on drinks from the rail. To be fair, the bar has undergone some renovations and its improved the floors and roof. If your tastes buds can take a break from top-shelf or craft beers, then a good time is guaranteed. with the video games in the corner, pool table or ping pong table. Extra seating wouldn't hurt, for spectators though. My one complaint: who broke the handles off the ping pong paddles?? read more

This is the sort of place that attracts locals and college students alike. People bring their dogs, there are regulars, the bar tenders just might know you and in the back by the bathrooms the walls are covered in chalk graffiti of years of countless patrons. If you're there on a Saturday you might see the pool tables pushed out of the way and a large crowd gathered to see a local garage band favorite. If you're there on a Wednesday there might be karaoke. The pool tables are on their last legs, there's a bar top arcade machine, hunting challenge and golf arcades consoles and dart boards in the back. By far the best bar in Southern Maryland, usually a good crowd, the drinks are cheap and atmosphere is always fun. Though I do miss the dive like quality the bar used to have (woodstoves, creeky floors, etc), the new expanded bar is nice, and the bathrooms are clean now. Though I really never cared before because in college I was usually in a state of mind I didn't really care. Great place to go in SOMD, with great specials. Definitely a locals bar. Nothing wrong with it, but if you aren't a local and you are over 25 there really isn't much to recommend it. No atmosphere, basic drinks. If you read through the other reviews, you'll gather that this is a favorite of students at St. Mary's college. And that's about it. I'd been to the Green Door a few times when I first moved here at the recommendation of people who had grown up here. Sadly, at just around 10 o'clock, the crowd of college kids move in and you begin to feel like you're at a bad house party where someone's parents have gone away for the weekend. The service at the bar has been terrible ever since the reno. The only good thing I can say about it is that we got several drinks for free because the bartender gave us our drinks, told us they don't take credit cards, then never came back to collect our money after going to the ATM. If you are over the age of 22, this probably isn't the place for you, unless you go early to grab some of their great deals like taco/pizza and pitchers. read more

This is a good local joint which is perfect for the younger crowds. If you want to get a pool table, make sure you come early. 1st time there 3 weeks ago with some friends from out of town. Wasn't expecting the Garage Backyard Barn house experience! Lol... So I would not advise u to wear an evening dress or your favorite outfit! Jeans & a tight shirt will do! The atmosphere was busy & fun! It was a mixed crowd except for a few who'd over-indulged.... I'm from Jacksonville, FL. For a night of Jax Beach Bars drinking, you can expect to spend ANYWHERE from $80-$200 depending on where you go. I came up to Maryland to visit a friend in the service who just recently moved to Lexington Park. We drove right past the Green Door at first, but ended up making a u-turn because of the proximity to her house... Let me just tell you, we were very pleasantly surprised when we got into the bar. There was a very friendly german Sheppard on guard, welcoming guests, there were peanut shells on the ground, a younger crowd throwing darts, shooting pool and everyone was really having a great time. My girlfriend and I had an amazing bartender! She introduced us to 'happy Saturday's'. Our drinks were only $2 each!! A FULL night of drinking PREMIUM drinks and beers only cost us $16/each. Our bartender also got us hooked on our new favorite shot 'slush puppy'. She brought us samples and leftover concoctions and was very helpful. The bar wasnt crowded at all, there was plenty of space for everyone and that also meant less time waiting for our drinks! We left a generous tip and I gave a silent promise to return to the Green Door. ANYONE close to Lexington Park, MD needs to stop by, its worth going out of your way for!! read more

The Green Door is a great place for a young crowd and old timers as well. Meet the after work crowd for pitcher and pie on Monday or tacos and margueritas on Wednesday. I've taken groups and have always gotten terrific service - the bar keeps hustle to keep the snacks rolling and the beer flowing. Live music is at its best on weekends when it's possible to hear sounds that remind you of the Old Crow Medicine Show - real foot-stomping tunes.
