Just the Black-owned healthy food spot I've been looking for in the Temple Hills area Food : 9/10 -- I had the the unCrabaKALE on top of the CranKALE salad and it was out of this world! Whatever seasoning they use is chef's kiss -- I selected garlic as a topping but I could tell there was more going on. The crab meat was warm and perfectly seasoned too. My only note: the 16oz eats more like a side salad than a main dish. For $13 it's competitive with a Sweetgreen or Cava, so next time I'm just sizing up to the 32oz. Service : 8/10 -- The young lady at the register was pleasant and made sure my order was complete. I did wait an extra 5-8 minutes past my 5:55 pickup time, but nothing major. Ambiance : 9/10 -- Not your average salad spot. The vibe is cozy -- think relaxed bar & lounge on a smaller scale. Love that the menu item names are fun and creative, though the menu itself feels a little busy and could be simplified. I'd love to see Kenny Kale franchised on a larger scale someday. Overall: 9/10 -- Kenny Kale is killing it and is def a keeper on my list I found this place and ordered the same day -- that's how excited I was. Well KaleYeah this place is amazing!! I initially visited this place at a pop-up location a few times in DC, but that location is no more. I took a road trip to this location, 1 1/2 driving time, and was highly impressed. It was pretty easy to locate using Google. The parking lot is kind of small. There's free street parking (be cautious of signage). As soon as you enter, there are obvious signs telling you which way to go. I saw a gorge Christmas Tree on November 8th and heard pleasant Holiday Music!! I was in heaven as holiday music is the best, my fav !! From Chris Breezy "This Christmas" to gospel holiday tunes, I was in Holiday Music Heaven !! Ok, Ok, enough about the music... but ... ok, ok... I will move on. The dining area was the perfect size, and there is a bar area w stools for sitting. There're also great wall hangings and decor. The area was welcoming and clean. A young gentleman took my order. He was very thorough. There was also a pleasant lady restocking beverages, answering the phone, and answering questions as needed. I think her name was "Sugar". She was super pleasant. I went to the counter and ordered my 32oz Get the Kale Out of Here w Grilled Shrimp and Lump Crab, add Bacon. Fantastic as expected!! Beautifully presented and well plated. I ate half while there. I had an amazing Guava & Passionfruit Lemonade that knocked my socks off!! It was sooo tasty, not too sweet and perfect ounce amount. The lavatory was clean, and stocked w neccessities. The restaurant is a hidden gem. The restaurant tucked in an industrial area. However, once you get inside the building it's amazing filled with history and culture. Kenny's is always a hit! I'm a regular and always excited to introduce friends who haven't been -- it never disappoints. Yesterday, I placed an order through DoorDash for a 32oz Skalemon with shrimp and a 2-Liter Kalebachi. While I saw the option to add shrimp, I didn't realize it only included one piece. I'd love to see Kenny's update the ordering options to allow customers to add a side of shrimp (maybe 3-4 pieces minimum) -- I was definitely a little sad when I opened it and saw just one! Also, instead of the 2-Liter Kalebachi I ordered, I received a 32oz portion. The 2-Liter was meant to cover dinner and lunch the next day, so I was disappointed. DoorDash was able to issue a refund, but I really wish the order had been fulfilled correctly. I was looking forward to enjoying it again today. That said, the food was still amazing -- as always. I went here and it wasn't very crowded. There is a bar and tables and two people were sitting. I ordered the Oh Kale Yea which is a popular item and waited 15 minutes for it to be ready. To my surprise, I didn't really like this meal. The kale was a bit salty. The shrimp and crab meat was seasoned well when I ate it individually but mixed in with the kale, it didn't taste well. Decided to check this place out after seeing a review on Instagram from one of my favorite food influencers. I almost decided not to come here because the menu is VERY confusing. However, the staff on site were really nice clearly explained everything to me. I ended up getting three MiraKALE tacos: one with shrimp, one with crabmeat, and one that was supposed to be with steak.... but they accidentally gave me chicken instead. I was really looking forward to that steak, so I was kind of disappointed. These tacos are like no other tacos you've had before. They're stuffed with well-seasoned kale and the toppings are piled high on top. I appreciate them infusing a healthy dose of greens into every bite, but these tacos are SO messy to eat. Toppings dropping and flying all over the place! And because they only use one tortilla on the tacos, the whole thing starts to fall apart and disintegrate as soon as you pick it up. I was better off getting a bowl because although the tacos were absolutely delicious, it was a nightmare to try to keep them together. I appreciate that they put generous portions of proteins on top of the tacos. I was definitely not mad at the healthy amount of shrimp, crab, and chicken (although I had my heart set on that steak) I enjoyed. Especially for the price. I couldn't eat all three (And after almost wearing the first two, I definitely wasn't trying to go through that again). So for dinner, I deconstructed the last taco, put that seasoned kale in the air fryer and made me some kale chips, with some chicken and tortilla on the side. So freaking good!!! I also bought one of the juices they had in the cooler; the Sugar Sham. Despite all the flavors listed on the front of the bottle, it tasted like Kool-Aid.... And not very good Kool-Aid. No discernible flavor. Just sugar water. Also, the bottles with the black tops are leaky. I told the lady at the front she could see for herself, but just as I was getting ready to leave, they put the leaky bottles back in the refrigerator case. Parking is scarce and this place is kind of hard to find because the signage is so small. Just look for the building that looks like a house and has a used car sign on the front. As good as they were, I wouldn't get the tacos again because of the logistical nightmare of eating them while simultaneously trying not to wear them. I got the 16oz Oh Kale Yeah (salad) and a banana pudding. IDK what they put on the kale but I was ready to drive back for another one!!! In addition to the seasoned kale, there was shrimp, lump crab meat, and red onions (excuse me if I missed something - going from memory). The lady that took my order said this salad was their top seller and I can definitely understand why. This was my first time at Kenny's Kale so I accidentally drove past it a few times because I didn't see the sign. The restaurant is in a building with another business (or so it appears) and the sign for the other business is bigger and higher. The lady that took my order was nice enough to sit on the phone and wave me down as I was passing on my 3rd time! Service was quick and customer service was excellent. Came to Kenny's looking for some healthy food options to accommodate my new diet. It was a bit hard to find because the GPS takes you to a house with multiple businesses in it. Walked in and was impressed with the interior. It has the vibe of a more intimate busboys & poets, complete with a mocktail and popcorn bar for refreshments while you wait. There's also a kind of back room with more cush seating. They also sell herbal tea and other health supplements (sea moss, etc.). The staff was nice and explained the menu: you choose one "original kale flavor" as your seasoning/default toppings, and then you choose one "specialty kale flavor" as your protein/main filler. I had the "oh kale no" with the "chickale". It's important to note that unfortunately they don't do substitutions, so if your protein mix isn't on the menu, you're kinda short. But you can pick two toppings for free and get additional ones for $1. The wait wasn't too long considering everything is made to order. The salad was good. The seasoning was well mixed in, and I wasn't even disappointed with the chicken portion, though I would've liked it mixed in a bit more personally, but no big deal. I also had a serving of avocado (i think it was moreso guacamole) added for $1.50. My brother had the chicken and salmon 3 cheese pasta and said it was very flavorful and filling as well. He had enough to get full and still take home leftovers. I'll definitely be coming back to Kenny's, as well as checking out their new location at union market in DC. My husband found a rock in his food from Kenny's Kale. He immediately took a photo and reached out to the restaurant--calling 2-3 times and emailing just as many times--but received no response. It wasn't until he visited the location in person that the issue was finally addressed. While the young lady who handled the matter during the visit was professional and pleasant, the owner was present but chose not to come out and offer an apology. That lack of accountability was disappointing, especially after such a serious issue and multiple ignored attempts to resolve it. It's frustrating when you try to support local, Black-owned businesses and it's the customer service that leaves you feeling dismissed. We really enjoyed the food before this incident, but unfortunately, we'll now have to look elsewhere for a delicious salad spot we can trust and feel respected by. We'll head on back to Sweetgreen where we never had any problems. Response to owner's response: My review is indeed accurate otherwise I would not have posted it. Interestingly, once we left a 1-star review, someone finally responded quickly. Never heard from anyone until then. I'd also recommend that management double-check the contact email listed on your website. My husband confirmed the email address with staff both before and during his visit, so if emails weren't received, perhaps it's time to look into a more reliable email service and educate your staff and managers. read more

I enjoyed my experience here. I believe it's a black owned business. They seem to be offering some add ons within the business in the form of a "drink bar". It wasn't open when I was there, but it looked promising! Now for my kale salad, it was pretty tasty. There was a mixup in my cheese selection, but nothing worth hassling over. I think I asked for parm and received feta. It was a bit of a waiting period when I came to pick up my order. I believe they may have missed the ticket. They seem to be fairly busy for a small business, which is applaud them on! I'm thankful a healthy alternative is located in a neighborhood filled with so many unhealthy fast food options. It's pretty cozy inside. I don't think I noticed anywhere to dine it. It appears to be mostly grab and go. Would I go back? Yes. But in the future, I'd probably try to make my kale salad at home. OMG my friend recommended this place for my birthday and due to my dietary restrictions at the moment. And I am glad she did. THEEE best salad I have ever tasted. I had the crab and shrimp kale salad with avocado and egg. The ambiance was so cute quaint and relaxing. They had soft R&B music playing. The milk and honey candle smelled so amazing. The service was so friendly and professional. My friend knew the owner. I am definitely coming back. And the most convenient part about this place is that it is right across from my hair salon. So when I get my hair done I can grab lunch as well. They have 3 different size salads to choose from. I had the 32oz which was perfect and huge. I couldn't even eat all of it. I would say they're 4.5/5 stars, this place is fire!!! I love the Kale bowls with the various toppings but that shrimp lump crab combo, mannnnnn 10's across the board. The bowls are super creative, like I would've never thought to put red onions, feta, shrimp, and crab together but it's such a flavorful combo. My only modification would be for the kale to be massaged a little longer, that's totally a preference thing though. I've gone in to order and done Uber eats and both were great. I love the concept of Kenny's Kale. They're serving up Kale salads with various seafood fixin's. The flavor combo descriptions make it hard to choose! There's jerk options and more! My friend treated me here. The inside decor inside is cute and quaint. Inside there were about 5 barstools at a small countertop to wait for your food. There were also fresh squeezed lemonades, juices and teas. At the time we visited there were still some renovations happening in the back, which we were told would become an outdoor seating area. I'm rating the experience a two because it all boils down to the food! Which unfortunately was extremely greasy. The kale was drenched. In order to stomach the meal I had to literally pat the kale down with a paper towel to be edible. I initially thought it was the flavor I chose, but my friend's meal was the same!
