This is a must visit stop with I am back in the District. Neighborhood gem. Part grocery store, butcher and deli. I've come here many times for the Pastrami. It's multi-layered goodness! I see people mention it's pricey. I don't see it that way. The portions are so generous that you really should think that one sandwich is meant for two people. From my perspective, it's a hard to beat value. It's a small store that does what it does at a high level!

Oh Stachowski's how do I love you. Let me count the ways..... seriously, Everytime I come in here I want to buy everything. Everything I have had from here is beyond tasty. Last time I got a grinder and shared it with my boyfriend and it was still enough for lunch the next day for both of us. This is a big boy sandwich haha!! I've had their pastrami as well and it is just amazing. Highly recommend. I've also bought harder to find meats like duck confit or just when I'm looking for upscale good quality. Nothing ever disappoints. Staff is also always super friendly and helpful and has a good community feel. My next visit I will def be trying the Rueben!

Absoulty perfect pastrami sandwich. Overstuffed and so flavorful I still can't believe it. Service was fast and while a little pricey it's well worth every cent! I also had a really good chocolate chip cookie from here as well. I will be back ASAP!

You'll get a massive sandwich for a reasonable price (all things considered). Had heard good things and had to check them out. Parking can be tough as it's street parking but not too difficult. It's a deli so expect a deli atmosphere, but don't expect tables; expect to order a sandwich to go. There's essentially no wait to order, and just a few minutes for the sandwich. My wife, son, and I decided to order two sandwiches between the three of us and there was quite honestly enough for two meals for the three of us. The Hot Pastrami is highly recommended by all (and me), and has massive amounts of moist, flavorful meat. The Grinder is large as well but not standout compared to the pastrami.

    Guanciale with 99% fat content

Purchased a chunk of guanciale and was given a block of fat instead. I know the product is expected to have a high fat content of around 65%, but what I got is insane. Basically a line of meat embedded within a block of fat. It's disgusting how this vendor tried to shove undesirable products to customers who they judge to be "outta-towner", in the spirit of "not let anything go to waste" for a profit.

Obviously the best quality meat and product. Nothing beats their ingredient quality. I greatly enjoyed my roast beef sandwich and the portion is incredible. Lovely shop as well. They are a corner shop with a nice layout. Inside, they sell top notch products and shop-curated foods. Service was very friendly and quick. Will definitely keep visiting!

The pile of peppers picked out of Grinder ordered with "No Hot Peppers." Also, some of the inedible gristle from the Pastrami sandwich.

Placed a first-time online order for four different sandwiches in the morning for a mid-afternoon pickup. Back home, all were impressively large and full of good-looking stuff. But literally on my first bite into the Pastrami sandwich, there was so much gristle that my teeth could not cut through anything! I had to spit it out and examine the other slices, which appeared okay. I wonder how often that happens to others? For the Grinder sandwich, I had checked the ordering options for it to be cut into "3 Pieces" and to come with "No Hot Peppers." Instead, I found two massive halves LOADED WITH HOT PEPPERS that I had to carefully pick out one by one (see photo). Given that the kitchen had MORE THAN FOUR HOURS to get familiar with my order, how could such basic instructions go unheeded (they're even printed on the receipt)? I also ordered Meatball and Short Club sandwiches. They, and the uneaten leftovers from the others (they really are massive), are safely stored in the fridge for many future meals. Not the end of the world, I grant you, but not a good first impression for a near-$100 order.

Pastrami heaven! Omg you have to order the pastrami sandwich here. This market was featured on the DC episode of, " Somebody Feed Phil", so I personally flagged it and put it on my list while vacationing in DC. It was located in beautiful Georgetown, on the corner of a block. Street parking was available up to 2 hours. The market had a small produce selection, refreshments, deli items/snacks, a butcher, and fresh made specials of the day, sandwiches, and soups. We immediately ordered the pastrami sandwiches, $23.99 each. Each sandwich was wrapped in butcher paper x2. The sandwich was a masterpiece- THICK cuts of pastrami (not fatty or overly salty) on double sliced pumpernickel, and mustard. Simple!!! But sooooo good. Mind you, we had not eaten all day because of our busy schedule, and this one sandwich was enough for 2 meals, or easily could be shared amongst 2 people. We ate a half for dinner and the other half for lunch the next day. It also came with a pickle, but I didn't care for this one too much. Check them out! You won't regret it.

The portions are huge! I was surprised by the price until we got our sandwiches and totally understand the price. The amount you get can fill you up several times. It's a bit messy to eat in the car but there's so much flavor and fresh ingredients. It's a small shop in Georgetown and very much worth a visit.

Stachowski's is a cute little Italian style deli tucked away in Georgetown. The place itself is very small, and there is no option to dine in, so you order and go. Which I personally really liked that we could just go in and shop around a little bit and then take our sandwiches to go picnic. No one tells you the sandwich is the size of a small child. I got the signature 4 meat grinder and it was HEAVY. Heavily delicious! The sandwich was absolutely amazing despite the need to unhinge your jar in order to take a full bite. They even included this little cup of vinaigrette to add! Overall I'd go back and try the entire menu! Everything about this sandwich & experience was a 10/10!

    Tasty turkey sandwich!

Cute little butcher/deli/market nestled between beautiful homes in Georgetown. Small, but really high quality goods. Grabbed a turkey sandwich, chips and some local ice cream sandwiches. Great place to grab a picnic on a warm day and take to the park.

Stachowski's Market is a great neighborhood shop with a wide meat, sandwich and ingredient selection. It's a small but mighty deli. The sandwich prices are skyrocket high but, I guess, it's Georgetown and the portions are ginormous. Just check out the grinder size compared to my hand... It's big enough for three people! We grabbed duck sausages to try the next morning, too. I was pleasantly surprised - tasty and unique. The people seemed friendly. I wish there were seats or somewhere to eat inside. Otherwise, solid spot.

Ask the Community - Stachowski's Market

    Is it open on Sundays?

Yes - though I do not know when the hours are. I have gotten sandwiches there early afternoon a few times.

    What about pierogi?

They have pierogi in the refrigerator. Not house made but authentic

Does this butcher sell authentic Italian sausage?

I'm sure his recipe for Italian Sausage is authentic, if he ever carry's it. I don't remember seeing any. But I know this as a "Polish Butcher Delicatessen", and I enjoyed their Pastrami on Pumpernickel & fresh Kkiolbassa sausage.

Does this market sell venison (deer meat)?

Sometimes, I've seen it in the freezer section, I bet they do special orders on request of fresh venison meat.

    Do they have pazcki?

Do you mean those Polish jelly doughnuts? If so, then no. But I just finished eating one of their Peroshkis a moment ago, and BOY was it delish!

I wasn't anticipating a nice dining room to dine in, but there it was so we did. Although it was uncomfortably warm in there. Must have been something wrong with their A/C because they couldn't possibly always have it so warm, especially in the middle of summer. I ordered The Clevelander and she had The Mel. And of course we hit their awesome pickle bar! Why doesn't every deli in the universe have a pickle bar?! The sandwiches are piled high with meat and so delicious. Several complaints about mine, however: the menu said it comes with mayo and provolone. It came out with no spread at all so I was brought mayo packets to apply myself, which is way less than ideal with a huge already assembled sandwich. And the brand new server (on her second day there) came back after we ordered and asked if I wanted cheese. I mentioned I thought it listed a cheese on the menu, which she confirmed. But then I ended up getting charged extra for the cheese that my sandwich was supposed to come with. Kind of lame. And while my friend was asked if she wanted hers toasted, I was not. I didn't think twice about it until mine came out toasted, which I neither asked for or wanted. Lastly, the sandwich was also supposed to come with "fresh cranberry spread" and if there was any on my sandwich, it wasn't detectable. But I decided not to even mention it because I didn't want to deconstruct my sandwich a second time. Regardless of these hiccups, I would certainly consider returning.

I heard good things about their sandwiches. My go to is normally Mangialardo's on Pennsylvania Ave in SE DC or Carl's Subbs on Rhode Island Ave in NE DC. I think I will stick to both of them next time. The staff was very friendly and helpful to me as a first timer but the sandwich was totally disapointing! NOT worth it, at all. I ordered a 9 inch capicola, ham, and cheese sub on the hard roll. The roll was very good and fresh but I couldn't taste the cheese or meat in the sandwich because there wasn't enough of it. I tasted the bread, the toppings of lettuce, tomato and onions. I decided to deconstruct the sandwich and found exactly 4 very thinly sliced pieces of meat and 2 very thinly sliced pieces of cheese as pictured clearly in the photographs. I also noticed that the they have different prices for the same type of meats. For example, they have a $29.99 per pound Capicola and one for $9.99 a pound. I asked which went on the sandwich and of course it was the cheaper one. That wasn't surprising and getting my sandwich back to the office. I decided not to eat the rest of the meatless sandwich and just take the loss. I wouldn't come back nor would I recommend a friend to try it

I've only gotten the Sub Club the few times I've gone here but what can I say? its a fail proof staple that is hard to get wrong and that they do very right. I often pair it with one of their drinks, this time being the spicy ginger ale which was solid as well. There's really not much place to dine-in if you're trying to dine and go - I recommend only using the dining area if you're solo, a couple, or part of a small group (at MOST maybe - a hard maybe - on 4 people) and only if you want to use the bar. One couple tried to squeeze in a baby stroller into the bar/dining area. Its really not suitable for things like suitcases or strollers so if you're in that camp maybe try some other spots because that also made a tiny space all the more difficult to navigate. Also, if you have a mobility device, this might not be the best spot for you either. I've never used their restrooms before so can't comment on that one. I still will say it is good for when you want to grab and go - so if you're in that category, and you like moderately priced sandwiches (for this part of town) this might work for you.

At this point, we were going to hate the food no matter what, but we can't even report that we grudgingly liked it because it was so awful. The chicken madness had tiny pieces that were flying out of the bun, and they couldn't even bother putting the knife through the bottom slice to cut it fully in half. The meat-pepper mixture had zero salt and there was NO pickle included (though promised) to have some acidity to cut through the grease of it all.
