Look how much tomato on my egg and cheese on a whole wheat everything.
    Gabrielle B.

Very good and cheap bagel sandwich. I love a whole wheat everything more than my own kin. This one was no exception. They loaded the tomato, it's the most I've ever received on a sandwich. The line was out the door but they cook very efficiently and you are out of there quick. The staff was busy but ready to help. Not a lot of space and no seating but I would very much go back. Perhaps I'll see you there.

For what it's worth, GW Deli is a good option for George Washington University students and professionals in the Foggy Bottom area. The inside is cozy and has more of a convenience store feel than a deli, however, once you make your way to the back of the store you get more of the DC carry-out experience. The people who take the food orders are friendly and so are the cooks and attendants at the register. You can get your classic, but basic breakfast and lunch sandwiches here. No bells and whistles. Their breakfast sandwiches are known to be generous portions. If you're not into the thrill of excess bacon, I recommend asking them to go easy on the bacon on your breakfast sandwich. The bacon isn't the best quality, so your sandwich can easily become one note and lack depth of flavor, even if your sandwich has cheese. Service is quick and the ordering process is simple. Aside from the hot and cold food, you can purchase other items here like breakfast baked goods, drinks, and the usual convenience store items.

Zero nonsense. GWD really cranks out some quality sandwiches. Despite being busy (lunchtime), we were on our way with a hot sandwich in under 10 minutes. We ordered a hot roast beef sandwich and provolone. Solid cuts, great flavor, and (again) zero nonsense. Friends recommended GWD because it reminded them of New York. Dr. Browns is always a nice touch. While we see the NY similarities, we ALSO appreciate the counter ladies being so nice and willing to customize their menu.

This place has been on my list for about 5 years and I finally made it. In short: it was worth the wait. The line was out of the door when I arrived but moved relatively fast. It is simply a deli in a convenience store. The store has tons of snack options that will go well with whatever sandwich you order. The people working are super friendly and will accommodate any order with whatever ingredients they have on their menu. I ordered bacon, egg, and cheese with avocado on a jalapeño bagel. Absolutely delicious. The sandwich was overflowing with bacon and had simple but satisfying flavor. Will go back whenever I am in the area!

    I mean, c'mon. It's a festival of bacon on a sub roll.

A bodega-style deli where all your bacon eating dreams come true. If you really want to bacon-it-up, order a BLT on a sub roll and then just marvel at the sheer amount.

An unexpected stop on our trip. GW Deli feels like a blast from the past and the episode of Seinfeld involving the soup nazi, only a lot more kind. Well organized operation and an old school deli vibe. Service to get a sandwich took about 10 minutes and they were very polite. The sandwiches were great and quite filling!

Huge portions for good prices. $10 for a massive bagel w/ lox, capers, and cream cheese, and $8 for meatball sub. Definitely a student go-to but I'd recommend it for any hotel-stayer (to bring back to your room.)

This quaint little deli is within a convenience store and has incredible sandwiches for such cheap prices. Almost every sandwich is under $10 (incl. tax) and packs so much flavor. Lines are long during lunch rush but the staff work super quick and the wait for food is no more than 5 min. Will be returning. Such juicy sandwiches.

GW Delicatessen has been a staple for GW peeps and those who work in the area for their breakfast/lunch runs - I was in the area, and I wanted to check this place out for their famous and popular breakfast sandwiches. I ordered their Sausage, Egg, and Cheese bagel sandwich - turkey sausage, fried egg, and American cheese on a Jalapeno bagel - the bread already comes 'toasted', and it's filled with a seasoned fried egg, a slice of American cheese, and the turkey sausage. The sandwich itself was prepared, made-to-order, so it came piping out; I wasn't a fan of the turkey sausage, as it had an off-putting odor to it, perhaps not being super fresh or it's just the line of sausage brand that they use? I was thinking maybe I should have gone for the turkey bacon... The staff here are super friendly and kind! There are also other market items you can purchase. There were patrons just constantly streaming in, so you know it's a local staple. Super limited and paid street parking available. +friendly service +limited street parking available

Solid local spot. Stopped in for lunch after spotting it on yelp and I was not disappointed. I only go in to the office once a week and I'm going again tomorrow. Don't judge me!!! The sandwich was huge. I struggled to finish half. The bacon was super crispy and a little salty. They have a large variety of snacks and drinks. Literally any soft drink you can think of. Lots of nostalgic candies too. My friend has been going here since she attended SWW. When I told her I went, she got all sentimental and swears she's coming soon too. Stop by if you can - they have a ton of options.

BLT with an egg. Looks better in person than in the picture.

I love coming here for breakfast .. their sandwiches are amazing!!! I usually get the BLT with a egg. The amount of bacon they put is like no other places around.

Long line moves quickly due to 6 servers taking orders and making the sandwiches. Somewhat cluttered place with lots of character.

There is metered street parking and commercial lots/garages within a reasonable walking distance from here. They serve wraps, salads, and cold and hot sandwiches. I ordered the Korean Steak Sandwich. It took them about 10 to 15 minutes to prepare my sandwich. They should use a number system for order pickups because people, including myself, had difficulty determining which order they were serving. Many of the sandwich names sounded alike. My sandwich was kind of small for the price, and it wasn't very filling. It was, however, very good. It was flavorful and packed with flavor. The service was ok. It was nothing special. They did their job and did not go beyond or be overly friendly. All in all, I would recommend checking this deli out for some really good sandwiches. Personally, don't think the hype meets the expectations. But with that said, it's still a good wrap and I'd get it again but I don't think it's the best wrap I've had or worth going out of your way for. If you're hungry and near by, sure go get it but don't make any special trips just for this wrap. Id love to try their other options on the menu at some point!

They operate a deli counter in the front and a bar / speakeasy in the back. You can rent out the bar space for private events. Last night, we had the space (and a bartender!) to ourselves, along with 3-4 different types of sandwiches. There is something SPECIAL about their seeded Italian bread. The perfect flakiness and texture. I enjoyed the chicken fontina and Italian. The caprese was my least favorite--not sure if they use a balsamic or what, but the flavor wasn't coming through. Before I left, I decided to order a large chicken cheesesteak to take home for lunch the next day. It was a bit of a risk to order a hot sandwich that I would have in the fridge overnight but I heated it up in our air fryer/toaster oven for all of 10 mins and the bread was good (not soggy) and the sandwich itself was delicious. I enjoyed it so much, I didn't stop to take a photo until the last bite :) It's a decent size sandwich--I ate half for lunch (along with my own chips and veggies) and have another half for tomorrow so while it's not cheap, I think it's reasonable.
