Delicious food, friendly staff, and lovely restaurant interior. I went in for takeout but will for sure come back to dine in. The person running the pick up counter was charming and knowledgeable. I'm visiting family in Silver Spring and they requested a healthy and fresh lunch. The salmon in the nova combo was great, and you could tell the capers were fresh. For sure recommend for an appetizing lunch!

I stopped in for breakfast this morning, and--as always--it was amazing. It was pretty busy, so things were a bit slower than usual, but that's completely understandable and on us for not planning our timing better. The food and atmosphere were still fantastic. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the whitefish appetizer I ordered to go. For the last three visits, the portion has been much smaller than it used to be--surprisingly small. I should have checked it before leaving, but I didn't want to make a fuss. I really love this item and don't want to stop ordering it, so I hope the portions return to what they once were. Still, Parkway Deli remains one of my favorite spots, and I'll definitely be back.

What an institution. For years, I've heard stories about this deli inside a strip mall just across the D.C.-Maryland border. On New Years Day, I popped in since it was open. There was a line to get into their restaurant. The deli counter was busy, but after ordering their famous Reuben sandwich with pastrami, I was eating within minutes. And wow- their Reuben was delicious. The rye bread got a little soggy due to the Russian dressing, but the flavors were well balanced. I'd go back for sure!

Great neighborhood spot. Everything is amazing!!

Parkway is an institution. I've brunched and carried out from this place for decades. My experience yesterday left a lot to be desired. The food was great (French toast and eggs-- I ordered bacon but that never came), but the server seemed irritated and made the experience unpleasant. I hope to never be in his section again.

I read somewhere this place has the best pastrami in MD so we decided to make a trip out of it Let me tell you it was worth the drive. I got the Delight and hubs the Rueben. They were similar except mine had coleslaw instead of kraut and Munster instead of Swiss. Loved them both but I think the Ruben was the winner. Enjoyed the pickle bar with the beets and half sours. Had a black and white on the way out. Oh yeah tried the chicken matzo ball soup. 1st timer and I thought it was really good. We moved from west coast this year and this place just oozes east coast vibes. I love this place I'll def be back. Only bummer was we ordered fries with the Ruben and they never came. Didn't matter tho we were stuffed.

I've tried their Pastrami and Corned Beef Reuben sandwich and onion rings. Their food is good- cooked well, mild, and overall flavorful. I especially enjoyed their onion rings - as a big fan, it's hard to find good onion rings these days!! The space is surprisingly deep and expansive, old-fashioned, and the customer service is great. Parking is overall easy, but there can be a lot of traffic depending on the time of day. I'd recommend!

So, their set up is seamless. I initially went into done at the restaurant, located in the back. I was too hungry to wait, so did "take-out" instead. By the time my order was ready, I saw the line to dine in was no more. They'd seated everyone. I should have know they were on point when I saw a car with a New York license plate. A true NYer, at this "Deli" in DC?!? YEP! This restaurant was it!! There is a full beer, wine and snack store in the front, on the left side, the deli and desserts on the right side. The restaurant is in the back. So, as stated, I had my order to go. I ordered the twin deli on a Kaiser roll - one half pastrami, the other half corned beef, onion rings for the side, and a pickle. When I tell you EVERYTHING was delicious. It was delicious. I will say, the pastrami was my favorite. I LOVE pastrami!! Corned beef was tender, not dry. I'll say this... I have NEVER, had more delicious onion rings in my life!! Have you ever had a juicy onion ring before? Never have I ever. Ambiance was nice, very clean presenting. Staff was personable, friendly, extremely competent. I highly recommend.

There aren't a lot of old school delis in the DMV so Parkway gets deserved love. And the pickle bar is cool! The nova lox platter was good and reasonably priced. The matzoh ball soup with chicken is very good and full of flavor!

Ask the Community - Parkway Deli & Restaurant

Is it busy Sunday morning at 10:30am?

Hi David, I does get busy at 10:30am. It's not too long of a wait though.

Is there a deli counter? Can you orfer one lb. of corned beef, etc.?

Hi yes you can order meats, cheese, salads and smoked fish per pound. You can also order onlinre and pickup.…

Is the restaurant Kosher or kosher style?

Style. Meat + cheese, shellfish. But it's an excellent deli.

Do you have gluten free bread?

    Hi Dyanna, Yes we do.

I was told this charge does not go to the waiter but is instead shared with other staff (busser, host, etc.), and that customers are expected to leave an additional tip for the server. I initially left a 20% tip because I did not notice the automatic 18% service charge. To make matters worse, I was initially given the wrong receipt, which added to the confusion. When I realized the service charge had already been included and asked for the extra tip to be removed, the waiter told me he does not receive any portion of the 18% charge. I asked whether the expectation was for customers to leave a total of 38%, and I was told that is how it works at this restaurant and in Washington DC. I found the billing and tipping process confusing and misleading. I won't be back.

I would describe them as a combination of classic and elevated Latin food. The vibe of the restaurant is very casual, but the presentation of many of the dishes takes it to another level. We had neighbors getting construction this week so I worked there Wednesday morning for some peace. The menu is small, but mighty, the service is iffy, and the pastries are store bought and stale. The front of house guy who brings the food and prepared the drinks is awesome, accommodating, and polite. I ordered egg and cheese on croissant, which came with salad and fruit. I also got my standard americano with room for cream. The food was well made, the perfect temperature and had just right seasoning levels. The americano was a bit cold so I figure he'd let it set while the food was being made to run them together. I had asked for cream, it was forgotten, they don't have any Splenda, only sweet n low, and their teaspoons are tablespoons, but the food was good. I also ordered a muffin later just to see what their pastries were about. It had clearly been in the pastry case for more than 3 days. It was REVOLTINGLY stale. I returned and advised and he offered a "fresh one" - from the fridge, in plastic, from a bakery in NEW JERSEY. They'd be better off selling Costco muffins. That muffin was HORRIBLE. Sickeningly sweet, 7 blueberries that were clearly rehydrated in the batter, and tasted like oil and preservatives. Sad. However, I came to work! There were two tables there when I arrived, they left within 15/20 minutes. The bathroom was not clean AT ALL - toilet bowl was gross and it was 10:00 am and they were out of soap and toilet paper. Ewwwww. I pray there was a hand washing sink in the kitchen. Also, the cook or whomever was in the back was watching something on tv, yelling in Spanish loudly, and generally making a racket. This did not make for an easy or enjoyable working environment. The layout is lovely, the chairs are comfy, the tables are just the right size for individuals or small groups (read 2 people) so the vibe is work/co-work, but then the dude is yelling in the kitchen!!! The other thing is, there was NOBODY in the place but me and one other dude who'd long since eaten, and the tables from the other people hadn't been wiped. They were bussed, but not wiped. The floor wasn't swept. It was just a general aura of idgaf but that's young workers in 2023 I guess. The concept is good, but the execution is struggling. I want to hope it's a bad day but who knows. I would try again if I was in the area but would definitely not go out of my way given the parking plus the issues above. Okay, not Great.
