Still doing a good job with things. Stopped in for dinner recently, never done that before. Always have partaken of breakfast or lunch, and so this was a new experience. It's a popular spot at dinner too; this place is just busy all the time. That's a positive sign. Ordered a crab sammie and the crab patty itself is a generous size, however it could have used some punch. Also tried some of hub's reuben sandwich--a true classic. I went with the meatball sub and a side of mac and cheese at this restaurant off of grubb road. The sub was great with plenty of cheese and marinara sauce in it. The side mac and cheese was good as well, very unique though I don't know if it was too much cheese but something was different with this. My service was ok, our waters weren't refilled and it took a while for the server to come back and give us the check. The ambiance of this place is great - they have an indoor seating + outdoor porch seating. I stopped in for breakfast this morning, and--as always--it was amazing. It was pretty busy, so things were a bit slower than usual, but that's completely understandable and on us for not planning our timing better. The food and atmosphere were still fantastic. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the whitefish appetizer I ordered to go. For the last three visits, the portion has been much smaller than it used to be--surprisingly small. I should have checked it before leaving, but I didn't want to make a fuss. I really love this item and don't want to stop ordering it, so I hope the portions return to what they once were. What an institution. For years, I've heard stories about this deli inside a strip mall just across the D.C.-Maryland border. On New Years Day, I popped in since it was open. There was a line to get into their restaurant. The deli counter was busy, but after ordering their famous Reuben sandwich with pastrami, I was eating within minutes. They were similar except mine had coleslaw instead of kraut and Munster instead of Swiss. Loved them both but I think the Ruben was the winner. Enjoyed the pickle bar with the beets and half sours. Had a black and white on the way out. Oh yeah tried the chicken matzo ball soup. 1st timer and I thought it was really good. So, their set up is seamless. I initially went into done at the restaurant, located in the back. I was too hungry to wait, so did "take-out" instead. By the time my order was ready, I saw the line to dine in was no more. They'd seated everyone. I should have know they were on point when I saw a car with a New York license plate. A true NYer, at this "Deli" in DC?!? YEP! This restaurant was it!! There is a full beer, wine and snack store in the front, on the left side, the deli and desserts on the right side. The restaurant is in the back. So, as stated, I had my order to go. I ordered the twin deli on a Kaiser roll - one half pastrami, the other half corned beef, onion rings for the side, and a pickle. When I tell you EVERYTHING was delicious. It was delicious. I will say, the pastrami was my favorite. I LOVE pastrami!! Corned beef was tender, not dry. I'll say this... I have been a repeat customer both online and in the restaurant. I ordered 2 pieces of cake online. When the order arrived, I was surprised that they were smaller than before. I called the manager and he said nothing has changed. I told him the piece of tiramisu I received was 2 and a quarter inches by 3 inches. He said that is correct , it comes precut and the restaurant charges 5.99. I told him that was a ripoff and he had lost a customer. He said he was sorry and I told him I was sorry as well. The food at the restaurant is good but there is a limit to being overcharged. I calculate the cost @ 3.00 per bite. The manager needs to talk to his vendor. I truly won't order from them or visit the restaurant again. I have always received generous portions in the past. Something has changed. read more

Our group hadn't seen each other in a while and our waitress was so kind. She had to come back several times before we were ready to order. She stayed so pleasant and got all of our orders correct. I ordered the nova lox platter. It was filled with hand cut nova lox, that was delicious. There was cream cheese, capers, tomatoes, onion, olives, and lettuce. I was in heaven. My friends all ordered omelettes. They loved them. Before, I left I ordered corned beef, turkey, and two kinds of cookies. Everything was perfect. I had sandwiches for days and the cookies passed my granddaughters taste test. They were mouthwatering and delicious. Everything was reasonably priced and it was phenomal. Parkway Deli is a tradition in my family but I hadn't been there in several years. We went for lunch today and, thankfully, nothing has changed. The man ordered the Reuben and fries and he said it was fantastic (I can vouch for the fries!). I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and vegetarian matzoh ball soup. The soup was perfect. The grilled cheese wasn't thoroughly cooked and I had to send it back to the kitchen. Don't be discouraged if you see a line because they definitely get you in and out. Nobody was rushing us but the food comes out pretty quickly (be sure to visit the pickle bar while you wait), so you're moving along briskly. We decided not to stop at the bakery for the chocolate top cookies but I remember them being incredible, so give them a try! read more

Takeout service is excellent. The wait is never very long. The flavor of the turkey reuben I got today was very good, but was a little dry and there was a lot less cheese and dressing than my last purchase in 2025. I still recommend going there - for the most part you are going to get about as good as deli food gets around this area. There are not many options. read more

What an amazing neighborhood deli that I'm just discovering! A friend of mine was always bragging about his favorite deli in our area so I decided to stop in to see what all the hype was about. Thankfully, Parkway Deli did not disappoint! When I walked in, I experienced sensory overload with their vast beer and wine selection, an area that displays beautiful bakery items, the walk up deli counter, AND the restaurant's dining room in the back. I don't recall what day of the week it was, but it was BUSY and people were rolling in and out of there! I was so gracious for the recommendation from my friend that I treated him to a sandwich as well. I had the Ruben Grille and he wanted a toasted pastrami sandwich with cheese, mustard and sauerkraut. In hindsight, I should've ordered (and I think he really wanted) the Delight because my Ruben Grille looked a lot better than his toasted sandwich. Despite my order flub, both sandwiches were hefty and delicious. The gentleman at the counter taking payments was very friendly and kept me company while I waited. I will absolutely be back! Have been here a number of times after church for brunch. Have had their terrific deli sandwiches and very good matzo ball soup. The portions are large and often I will pack some up for same-day dinner. Lately, we've been having breakfast - specifically the vegi omelet ($13.49). What's there to say about a vegi omelet? It's egg with vegi inside - right? For some reason, the omelet here is outstanding. The egg is cooked well and is stuffed with peppers, onion, mushroom and tomatoes. Like - stuffed. And you get a choice of cheese. I got the pepper jack and my partner got the Swiss. The pepper jack is spicy and delicious. The home fries are perfect every time and the choice of bread includes a bagel and cream cheese. I got the onion bagel - the bagel is large and well done with a good sized serving of cream cheese. On top of everything, there's a complimentary pickle bar, with dill, half-sour, sweet and sour pickles, sauerkraut and pickled beets. In the past, the beets were dried out but the last two times we were here, the beets were moist and fresh and delicious. I recommend this place. It's normally crowded, but worth the wait. Only downside is that, depending on where you are seated, it can be crazy loud. The center restaurant area is fine, but if you are seated in the smaller area to the left, be prepared for noise from your neighbors if it's crowded. read more

Parkway is a classic for a reason. I came here for breakfast one Monday morning with a couple friends and although it was pretty busy, we were seated right away at a booth. I'd only been in for takeout and didn't realize there was a whole section in the back! The deli is surprisingly large. There were some local groups meeting there, which made me appreciate how integral it is in the community. They have a huge menu (including the Jewish classics) with a pretty good amount of vegetarian and vegan options. The prices are affordable for the area and the portions are large. My friends and I split a plate of latkes (applesauce and sour cream, naturally) and I decided to get a larger breakfast of pancakes, eggs, toast, and homefries. I had to get my meal as a few sides and it all came out on separate plates which was a bit overwhelming for table space. The food was great (nothing spectacular, but high quality diner/deli level) and our server made sure we had everything we needed. The staff came by to refill water and clear our plates frequently, so we felt taken care of. We didn't avail ourselves of the pickle bar this time, but it's a must do when you visit. read more

Took a walk through Rock Creek Park - coming out the north end and this deli is just a block away in the small shopping center. As traditional delis go this is probably the last one standing in the DMV area. Inside there is a front store section for takeout orders and the dining rooms are in the back with comfortable seating including many mirror walled booths. Menu is extensive with just about any deli food you can think of plus some. it was not empty even at 2-3 pm so clearly a local favorite. We had corned beef sandwich and baby back ribs with sweet potato fries and spinach sides. All very good with reasonable prices. only reason I'm docking a star is some parts of the ceiling panels have unsightly water stains on them marring the look of the overall environment (hope they get that fixed soon). read more

Even though this was a weekday and the deli wasn't too crowded, it was still very difficult to find parking. The food was good, but way too expensive for what you get. I ordered the rueben grill, and although a nicely loaded sandwich, the cost for the sandwich only, (no sides, no fries, no drink) with tax and tip (20%), is $16.21. I remember coming here as a kid but today was my first time back as an adult. We were a group of six on Sunday at brunch time, so we were fortunate to get as quickly as we did. They really cram you in there! I'm a petite person who's ok with crowds but even I was feeling claustrophobic. My aunt and uncle left as soon as we got the bill because of how loud and crowded it was. I felt for the servers who had to regularly squeeze by tables, patrons, and each other. We were bumping elbows with the patrons at the table next to ours. My mom apologized for having to nearly sit on their table to get out (she's a slimmer individual too). Now for the food. Given how many patrons there were, it took some time (about an hour from the time we sat down). I think I got the wrong thing on the menu. My uncle's sandwich looked great. My latkes, lox, and eggs? Not so much. Good idea but poor execution. It was a latke with lox on top, and scrambled eggs on top of that. The problems with that are: 1) the lox got cooked to oblivion because of the heat from the eggs on top of them. Never expose lox to heat! Put the eggs or lox on the side. Something. Second problem 2) the eggs were scrambled. I was never asked how I wanted them cooked. Over easy or sunny side up or literally anything but scrambled would've been better.
