There's not much to choose from in this neighborhood as the old Mazza Gallery is gone and becoming something else, construction seems endless. The re-do has negatively affected the area tremendously. No doubt this eatery is feeling it. Booey has traditional foods and they're reliable, if pedestrian. I've only been here for breakfast. The various platters and egg sammies are good. I'm not wild about the homemade potatoes, which are freshly prepared but have too much tomato and spice on them for me, others may love that. Coffee is well brewed. Lots of seating.

Having driven past this place many times, I decided to stop in and give it a shot. I was pleasantly suprised! The prices are great and the portions are big! We tried the Booey's Platter, 3 pancakes, and a side of bacon. Everything tasted amazing! Eating in was pleasant, but know that the atmosphere inside is more fast food-ish than eating breakfast somewhere like IHOP. This will definitely be my new breakfast spot from now on. I also intend to give their sandwiches a shot soon.

Tasty Neighborhood Deli! I visited today-this longtime DC Deli! It's located in the Friendship Heights neighborhood. The menu above the service counter offers many deli sandwiches options. I ordered the "Tuna Turner" (homemade albacore tuna, lettuce, tomato, salad veggies (carrots/alfalfa sprouts), on a kaiser roll.) A tasty sandwich full of fresh ingredients. The tuna tender, flavorful, veggies crisp, the roll moist. My only complaint: the roll overwhelms the tuna flavor. Next time it I'll order a croissant. Prompt courteous customer service. Could've made this myself!

I've had the special steak and cheese (delicious) but I had a taste for the corn beef sandwich. I was shocked at how thin the sandwich was, especially for the price. Definitely will NEVER order that again! Shockingly thin and at best, taste was so average.

Very good sandwich! The bread is good. The size of the sandwich is big, and it comes with a lot of salad inside

    Solid coffee in big portions!

Inexpensive and delicious. So much food for so little. Perfect for a quick bite and they have a huge menu. Super nice staff.

I've been going to Booeymonger's for about 45 years and have loved it every single time. It's not a restaurant, it's a tradition.

They have the best breakfast in the DMV, hands down. The fried potatoes are the best I've ever had outside of being homemade.

I needed a steak for my son's birthday dinner. A good steak. At the same time, DC is freaking out…read moreover a coming storm. Supermarket shelves are emptied. But Butchers Alley was fully stocked. Great meats. Awesome cheeses. Prepared meals. Wines. The butcher was awesome. The cheesemonger incredibly helpful. I love this store. It makes me feel like shopping in Europe.

I got a subpar chuck roast that they charged me $22/lb for. Insane amounts of fat (ratio was way…read moreoff, to the point I probably paid for a lb of fat), and the meat itself was meh. Whole Foods charged $12/lb and it was noticeably better. Same story with the short rib I got last month...almost half the price at Whole Foods and experienced better or the same quality. The funniest is the stock bones...$15 for a small pack. You'd need two to make any volume of stock, (so $30), and the same amount of bones would be $10 at the farmers market. I love supporting local places, especially high-quality butchers/groceries. I really do. But there comes a point when you have to ask if you're getting ripped off. With meats DOUBLE the price of another grocer that itself has a reputation for being expensive, it starts feeling like you're being taken advantage of. For what it's worth, the little old lady in front of me almost had a panic attack when they rang her up. I would've bought her groceries for her, but I suddenly realized that me buying a couple pounds of chuck roast and 10 marrow BONES to make stock with would already have me above $100. I saw another person put back cookies because after tax they were $7 each. Sorry, guys, but I'm out.
