They also carry a great selection of unique items imported from Italy--things you won't typically find at a regular grocery store. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Expensive, I went in for a sandwich, I wish I could remember which one it was, I remember is $21... and worth every penny. The meats and cheeses were all fantastic and the bread, I'll just say the whole thing was sublime. Of course I picked up a few other items, some pasta, amazing biscotti and a bag of Italian potato chips, paprika flavor. Thin, greaseless, rich potato flavor. Nothing I've had from all of the different American brands I have tried, and I am sure I have tried almost all of them, come close. I love to come in here for the specialty imported items but I tried the sandwiches today. The tuna sandwich was a religious experience to say the least and the bresola was delightful. The service was solid but based on what I had heard and saw it really seems like the customer service is very friendly and great. I got the Italian pastrami sandwich which ended up being 15$ which is pretty expensive in my opinion for a smaller sandwich. Walking in I was thrown off because it wasn't the typical deli or food store, there are a lot of products in a small space. But once I adjusted, and saw all the Italian ingredients they had I was half sold. The owner had the kindest way about him, over all good energy. He made me to delicious cannolis and a sandwich. I have tried the Pastrami Sandwhich and Bresaola, I enjoyed both. That huge because I have always not like sandwiches but these are different the bread is fresh and the balsamic vinegar is good quality. I will say I think there may be a lack of consistency in with how the sandwiches are based on what ingredients are there. The products are more expensive than they would be at the grocery store by a significant amount. Came in here while waiting for the car in the shop and enjoyed looking at all the various items for purchase: different types of pastas, sauces, sardines, oils, etc. Met the owner Santina who is a lovely guy. If you have lived in Italy, or spent any extended period of time in Italy, this store will feel familiar and welcoming. The store is filled with grocer specialties imported mostly from Italy, but there are also some imports from surrounding European countries. The real stars are the deli and desserts. This is not a bargain basement meat establishment. The meat and cheese are imported from overseas, and the prices are going to reflect that, but when I ate the sandwich it was so nicely balanced. Love how much care and attention the owner puts into making the sandwiches! We got four different types and each range around $14 to $16. The sandwiches we got were Bresaola, Italian Pastrami, Caprese and Italian Tuna, and they were all delicious!! I would say my personal favorite is the Caprese tho. Fresh organic greens, a fairly nice provolone cheese. Generously piled with prosciutto, to my delight. I want to try their dinner pastas! Most of the pastries and cookies are on open display. The germaphobe in me cringes to wonder how many children have wandered through and sneezed without covering their mouths. Doesn't help that I've seen their baked goods stored overnight under a loose plastic sheet. Tables are arranged along the side, making their shelved inventory during dining hours. Drove here from Herndon to try this place out because it's highly rated. They literally only have 3 options for sandwiches and two of them are beef... what?! That's the opposite of what cornucopia means. There's no menu. it's just whatever the guy wants to make that day? How is there no Turkey option? Pleasantly surprised with this place. This is one of those "real" italian places that looks down its nose at any americanized version of their cuisine. And with good reason. While waiting for the "sandwich artist" to take his time crafting my pastrami sandwich I browsed the wide selection of imported Italian cakes, candies, coffees, pasta, sauces, olives and other goodies. The sansdwich tool quite a bit longer than one would expect but I kept my patience by hoping it would be worth the wait. It was! The bread alone was worth the wait, crispy on the outside and delicately tender inside. Ive never had a better baguette. Now onto the toppings: pastrami slices so thin they melt in the mouth, robust slices of a nutty and buttery provolone type cheese, tomatoes that tasted of August although it is November, and a delicious and slightly sweet tapenade pulled it all together. Our sandwiches were made to order. Meat, cheese, arugula, with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing on a fresh baguette. The sandwiches were delicious and of great quality ingredients. They were not massive, meaning you can eat it lady-like without a mess. They have small tables and chairs on the side amongst a wall of pastas, sauces, and other Italian imports. The man working asked if I had any allergies before preparing our food. When we asked if they had garlic powder he said no, although he was able to recommend a substitute being an "Italian spice mix". We can't wait to try it out!
