Love coming here for breakfast! It's such a hidden spot and the costumer service is always on point. I've gotten both omelettes and breakfast sandwiches--nothing ever disappoints! First of, aside from customer service being splendid- the food is DELICIOUS. I stopped by with a client during our walk and only wanted a coffee but ended up buying food! Stopped here with my kids for a quick snack after seeing a show at the Imagination Stage and had a mixed experience. There are lots of treats - my kids got delicious, enormous chocolate chip cookies that absolutely made their day! I saw the tables around us happily eating what appeared to be yummy sandwiches (and one really juicy looking burger). However, when I saw they offered bubble tea I decided to bring one home to my husband. I got his regular order - half sweet black tea with no bubbles/boba. I took a sip and thought it tasted...odd. When I brought it to him he took a sip and said, "I hope you didn't pay a lot for this" (it was over $5, so same as getting from a legit bubble tea place like ShareTea). Needless to say, he didn't finish it so that was a waste. Friendly staff and appears to be family owned. Stick with the sandwiches and steer clear of the bubble tea! read more

After seeing cops come here every morning, I decided to stop in. Decent amount of seating, plenty of street parking, huge menu. Plastic minimum is $6 or so. Lots of American snacks and grab-n-go's like varietal muffins, bars, chips (four flavors of PopChips is a joyous sight). Fairly stocked drink fridge, heavy on mini-options. The owner hovers to expedite, but is very friendly. Food is cooked to order and pickup is on the left by the cash register. Ordered a Nova platter on sesame ($5.95), and a three-egg mushroom and cheese omelet ($5.50). Solid portioning on both menu items. The latter came with two slices of buttered toast, coarsely halved. Home fries are seasoned with Lawry's and taste rustic when fresh. Mushrooms not too sparse, but the egg batter was on the flat side and garnished with a melted Kraft single. Fresh veg for my toasted bagel fixings, no problems with the red onions or tomatoes. Cream cheese is layered on thick to make up for the thin layer of lox, as well as for the bagel with nova spread. Butter lettuce instead of the advertised olives. Again, Uptown keeps the local lox bagel victory. Sausage breakfast burrito may be the way to go; the steak one uses cheesesteak-style chopped meat. The potato chunks mixed in call for hot sauce from my office drawer. Turkey bacon one was smaller but mildly improved in texture. Croissants run small. Three and a half stars. I feel like a lot of the love this place is gets is for value. Yeah, it's great that you aren't paying an arm and a leg like everywhere else, and I commend them for the pricing structure: loyalty in exchange for only charging about four bucks for the basic breakfast sandwich. No doubt I'll be back for lunch. read more

This review is based on an Uber Eats Order. 1.) I ordered the California Wrap without tomatoes and crispy bacon. When I bit into the wrap I tasted tomato! When I opened the wrap, it was filled with tomatoes and slimy lettuce! The bacon wasn't crispy. The whole wrap was a mushy mess! 2 Stars 2.) I ordered the side of pasta salad with vegetables. It was somewhat sour which is why I give it 3 stars. 3.) I ordered the side of Chilli, spicy. It was very tasty and just the right amount of spice! 5 stars 4.) I ordered the Oriental Noodles but didn't get to taste them since they were not included in the bag. Overall, I was disappointed with the preparation of the food since only one of my requests were honored. Truly and unexpectedly wonderful in every way. I have ordered twice now. Rheuben; egg salad; cheese mushroom onelette breakfast with toast and breskfast potatoes. Everything was fresh. Hot things warm to hot (I ordered vua Uber Eats), cold things cold, and sandwich veggies crisp and fresh. Most tender omelette I have ever had. Generous, tasty potatoes. Portions are on the generous side. Everything seasoned nicely, tasting lovely. I have lived most of my life on the West Coast, so the only non-super comment is with regard to Sourdough Bread: NO one on the East Coast knows how to make it or serve it. This place is amazing, but they do very lightly grill toast. Their breads are great and fluffy and fresh. (Sourdough is my fave, but I finally reached a conclusion: East Coast knows how to rock rye breads. So I will just be ordering ryes and pumpernickels. It takes time to really grill a sourdough so that there is a crisp, melting edge that dissolves with a delicate crackle as you bite into the chewy goodness.) I appreciate the customer service as well. I received a call when part of my order was sold out. The gal was warm and helpful, and they kindly suggested options but were happy to refund/accomodate. (They were sold out on the cherry danish and blueberry muffins.) These are the freshest, most enjoyable sandwiches I have ordered in the area. With decent prices. High recommend. This deli just reopened today (Nov. 11, 2021) with new owners. The inside has been remodeled some with new paint, some whimsical decorations on the windows, and four electronic monitors above the counter displaying the menu. The inside is quite spiffier than it was but still casual and a good place to get a quick lunch or breakfast, either alone or with a few friends. The staff is really friendly and welcoming and they create a nice atmosphere. I had the bagel with egg, cheese snd sausage and it was delicious and reasonably priced too. read more

My friend and I came here for bubble tea. We both ordered Thai tea with bubble. This review is only for bubble tea. It was a bit too sweet and I couldn't finish it. My friend has sweet tooth and it was too sweet for him too. Maybe we can request to change sweetness? If so, I would love to come back and try. Since my first time coming here maybe 5 days ago I've come back every day. First of all, the cashier is just the sweetest, she literally radiates positivity. The bagels are really good and the butter tastes like real butter so I love that. Everything is clean and the selection is nice for such a small place. So sad that I can't take this place with me when I move away next week. read more

Great Place to go for Breakfast or Lunch! Yelp needs to change the listing to "Cafe X-press". Cafe X-press cooks everything fresh for you, but it doesn't take very long. The counter top has a selection of other home made pastries and salads. They also have a great selection of beverages. It's very inexpensive for Bethesda and they have specials every day. I work down the road and they've even taken the initiative to deliver my food for me before I came to pick it up. I just call my orders in and they're always ready when I get there. It has an interesting Diner feel to it as there are so many people that seem to stop by in the mornings. read more

Great food on a budget! I used to come here for breakfast and lunch when I worked in the area. The food is very fresh, healthy (nothing is fried), and highly customizable without paying an arm and leg for it (which is hard to find in the area). The breakfast burritos are amazing and you can substitute the flour tortilla for wheat and get egg whites for a healthier version. The veggie burgers are wraps are delicious. I can easily substitute different toppings and get some free toppings (just ask!). Take advantage of the free refills if your order the 32 ounce soda or iced tea (you must get the refill on the same day). Just as the name suggests, the customer service is prompt and EXPRESS. The Asian lady cashier is also friendly and gets up at 3 am to run this store and also the deli on Elm Street (which isn't as good). It's hard to find good eateries in Bethesda without shelling out $10/meal, so Cafe Express was my go-to. It's much cheaper than Jetties or BGR. Be aware, Cafe Express closes around 4pm and isn't open over the weekends. read more

This is a great, convenient, and friendly deli. I have only been here for breakfast or to get bubble tea (a little more pricey -- appx. $5 -- than other places). The Turkey bacon, egg, and cheese everything bagel is outstanding (appx. $5.00), and the sign says they are authentic NY bagels. Out of all the places to get a bagel sandwich in Bethesda I think this one wins. Prices are reasonable, service is passable, and it is quick. I have also had a couple subs from here in the past and enjoyed it. Not really much else to say about this place... they do breakfast, sandwiches, and salads. read more

They have variety of bread, bagels and muffins to choose from to make sandwiches. I was in serious need of a hearty breakfast while spending an entire day at Chaos Salon across the street, and this place hit the spot better than I could've imagined! Korean-owned Cafe X-Press is nothing fancy, but they've got a huge menu and it's a great value. I waited about 4-5 minutes for my order. I love this place for lunch. Cheapest sandwich eats in Bethesda. Would give it 4.5 stars if I could. The salads aren't the greatest, but the sandwiches more than make up for it. A side of pasta salad isn't bad either. Try the Tandoori Chicken Sub, and call ahead to get your order in! read more
