I went here with a friend for an early dinner and we loved it. We started with espresso martinis, which were honestly some of the best I've had in the downtown area, and I also tried the limoncello fizz which was light, refreshing, and a great complement to the meal. We shared the truffle arancini--absolutely delicious. For mains, she ordered the salsiccia (without mushrooms) and really enjoyed it, while I had the artichoke pizza with added anchovies, which was fantastic. I'm usually pretty indifferent toward wood-fired pizza, but I'd definitely come back here again. It feels like this spot doesn't get talked about enough in the downtown Bethesda dining scene. The ambience is great--especially if you can sit outside on a nice day--and the staff is warm and welcoming. Overall, I don't have a single bad thing to say about the food or the experience. read more

Paisan approved local joint... Everyone in this little DMV bubble is from somewhere else. I'm no different - I'm an Italian from south Philly (for my sins), in Bethesda for (what else), work. One of the only things I miss about the 215th is the food culture...in particular, the Italian food culture. Its top notch, from cured meats, to cappuccino, to pasta, to cannoli...they have the best of it all. I was feeling homesick until discovering Alatri. First of all, it's not a chain - far from it. It would be easy to miss if one wasn't looking for it. I stopped in for a bite, and holy smokes am I glad I did. Had a little meat and cheese board which included prosciutto (Prah-shute [paisan pronunciations], mortadella [mortadel], parm, and a couple other usual suspects. The fact that its so simple makes it easy to f up. But if you do it right...then it's a little bit of all right. Get in there w your fingers Jer...Tossed a piece of mortadel in the old gob and I was back at home. It was almost a spiritual experience. Sitting at the bar, the gent tending it waited about 30 seconds before he made a friend. "Hey man, do you like spicy things?" he queried. "No doubt." He returned a half-moment later with a spicy Calabrian sausage & oil. My fam hails from said region, so I dug right in. I think it was what the kids call a "smash" - I smashed it. So good, so not vegan, so not chain isht. This level of "YES" required a handshake. "I'm Jeremy. I'm Donny." We can be friends. Additionally, one of the cool things about this area is that the people who are here do things, and thusly, have interesting things to say. It was easy to spend a few hours getting to know neighbors and neighborhood. I cannot recommend Alatri Bros. more highly...maybe I'll see ya over there, sometime! read more

Although I didn't try the food this visit, everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great! They have both an indoor and outdoor bar, but I sat at the indoor bar on this occasion. Surprisingly upscale restaurant on a rowdy part of Cordell Street. My wife and I sat at the back bar and loved the vibe. Bartender (Donny?) is attentive and shows the impact of a great bartender. I started with the limoncello-pepperoni wings. They were 6 good-sized and tasty wings and a good value. I also had the fettuccini with short rib and it was excellent and a good value. My wife had a pizza and Caesar salad. She liked the homemade croutons, which elevate any salad. Surprisingly, the pizza was only fair. It was not nearly as good as other brick oven pizzas in the area (Matchbox and Pizzeria Da Marco) I debated 3 or 4 stars. Most of the experience was very positive as was the value and vibe. I took off stars for a miss on their headline food item. read more

This is my go-to spot in downtown Bethesda! Alatri bros has everything a bread & cheese lover could wish for. Along with happy hour deals every week day they offer daily specials like PBS Tuesday and discounted Wine Wednesday. Their whipped feta and arancini are my favorite appetizers of ALL time. Definitely skip out on the limoncello wings, the sauce is not my favorite. You can't go wrong with any of their many meat & cheese boards. Their fries came out hot and crispy although too thick for my liking. To echo the other reviews, their pizzas are definitely top tier. They're always baked to perfection and the perfect size for one. There is seating for everyone. Inside tables surrounding the full bar and a sunny patio area covered by a high ceiling, perfect for sitting and sipping an aperol spritz. Both Carlo & Louis make sure my experience is the best every time I'm there! I've received great recommendations & excellent bar service. The food comes out hot & fresh every time! I will definitely be back! read more

Delicious wood-fired Neapolitan Margherita pizza with a fluffy pillowy soft crust and dollops of fresh mozzarella cheese! The apps were a bit of a miss, the pizza was the highlight of our meal! The pizza hit the spot and while Margherita pizzas can be skimpy on the cheese, there was just the right amount of cheese spread evenly to enjoy some in every bite! The pizza paired well with a bottle of Chianti Classico. I was surprised to see 2 different bottles of Chianti (Classico and Reserved) and enjoyed the Chianti Classico. The thick Hand cut steak fries were okay, the potatoes weren't cooked all the way through and it was disappointing there was no honey mustard or aioli sauce (it was either ketchup or ranch). The Deviled Eggs were a bit bland. The Focaccia bread isn't featured on the menu, but you can order a small side/slice of bread. The slice of buttered toasted bread was a bit denser than I expected and didn't quite have that soft scrumptious texture that I was hoping for. While the seasonal Limoncello cheesecake looked tempting, I got the Cannoli. which had a sweet and decadent creamy filling with a nice caramel drizzle in a crunchy shell. It was a bit disappointing that some of the classic Italian food/drink items were missing like there was no cappuccino or tiramisu featured on the menu. Dog-friendly on the patio and plenty of tables outside with heating and small tables inside with a cozy bar area. There's also great happy hour specials on the weekdays. read more

Decided to swing by with my boyfriend for savor Bethesda! They had an amazing deal for lunch (weekends only) for an appetizer, lunch and a canoli $20 per person. We both ordered buffalo wings (A+), he ordered the multi carni and I the salsiccia. I preferred the multi carni a bit more with the amount of protein it came with. Handcut fries were ok, a bit too chunky for me so it didn't taste like the potato was cooked all the way through. Service was amazing. Both the host and waitress were friendly and checked on us several times to make sure we were comfortable. There's inside and outside seating (within a tent). The inside of the restaurant is a bit smaller with a cozy bar and outside seating has several heaters to keep it warm. 100% would return here. read more

I've been here for happy hour a couple of times and the pizza is decent , but I'd like to specifically give it my second to worst one star review ever (behind the burrito place that stuck a bottle cap in my food) for the condescending and rude service I experienced on a recent visit. I came on an early evening during Savor Bethesda restaurant week and noticed that one of the advertised specials (sandwiches) was not on the menu . The bartender, an 50ish white male with glasses and goatee / gray hair gave me an evil look and explained that was normally a lunch item. I kindly reminded him that the special was all day, and he grudgingly gave me the menu as if he were handing me the keys to Fort Knox. I proceeded to order a pizza and sandwich and he asked me which one I wanted at the discounted price. I noted that the menu (attached) said ALL pizzas and sandwiches were $10 with no restrictions listed. The bartender laughed rudely at me and said "what? Are you kidding? It's only one." I responded with a look of slight shock that any restaurant would interpret discount rules so strictly, and proceeded to explain that I was a Yelp elite and hoping to give his restaurant a great review. At which point he responded snidely, "I'm sure you are." At that point I walked out and also let the manager know that I would never dine there again nor would I recommend it to anyone. Ultimately it's at the restaurant's discretion now they want to regulate specials but at least provide a friendly explanation. Ironically I've booked multiple corporate events recently with competing Italian restaurants in the area and the $3-5 they lost from the offer I never placed could have produced a 500-1000x return overnight. Prime case study in how to NOT treat customers!!! read more

Just not at all what I expected. The gluten free pizza tasted like grainy cardboard. Service was ok, but still pretty slow.

Nice outdoor patio with retractable roof for bad weather, and a small and loud indoor space, good service, a decent neighborhood spot. The pizzas were disappointing. The actual dough is fine but unremarkable. The eggplant on the verdura pizza had thick slices of tasteless eggplant that hasn't been properly treated so it tastes sponges and uncooked. It was otherwise ok but not well seasoned. Nduja crazy Calabrese pizza is fine and with a good level of spice but feels a bit one note. The appetizers were fine. The Caesar salad uses real and excellent anchovies. The arancini is very cheesy but tastes like an American fast food version of Arancini. The deviled eggs are good but unmemorable. The fried cauliflower is overly battered heavy and lacking in flavor but has a decent dipping sauce. I did like the avocado quinoa lemon tomato and parsley salad. read more

The food was fresh and delicious. The white sangria was as it should be, tasty and mixed well with the other ingredients. The spinach salad was one of the better once we've had and the short rib fettuccine was excellent. The artichoke pizza was also very good and the crust was very light and tasty. For dessert, we had the cherry cheesecake and it was also excellent. The service was outstanding and the ambiance was just perfect. This was our first time there and it won't be our last. Carlos, the manager, was very helpful and friendly. I've been to some of the other Italian restaurants on the same block and general area and I have to say this place is just as good, if not better. I highly recommend you visit to see yourselves. You won't be disappointed. read more

Ordered through Caviar. After all the rave reviews I had higher expectations. The pizza was just ok but merely average by DC standards. They also got one of our pizzas wrong so we did not get everything we ordered. It's pizza. It's fine. The price is ok. Just didn't blow my socks off. read more

We went because of the "Savor Bethesda" Restaurant Week, but very much disappointed. Although the website clearly said "$20 Dinner: 1 starter + 1 entrée; $35 Dinner: 1 starter + 1 entrée + 1 dessert", but there is NO option. The only starter has to be the crab soup. The only entree has to be mushrooms ravioli. The only $15 dessert is chocolate covered strawberries. We decided to try other dishes. The waitress did stop by our table frequently, but the 30-minutes cooking time was too long for three pastas and one pizza. The ravioli were well made and well prepared. The veal/beef tortellacci were very delicious. The spicy shrimp spaghetti were kind I'd dry. The prosciutto pizza had a great layer of prosciutto and arugulas. It was then too late to try any desserts, but headed for home. read more

I don't even eat bread but I like this spot a lot. I've gotten the pizzas on cauliflower crust every time and I really enjoy the flavors they have to offer! I dined in here for the first time this weekend, (previously I had just ordered food to go). The outdoor patio is so nice. They can partially open the patio covering to let in more light and they even have fans to cool down the area on hot days. I thought the service was great. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The birria pizza special changes every time I get it, but it's always good. I prefer it with the crumbled cheese and green sauce on top but I guess they use whatever they have on hand at the time. Today I tried the spicy crab pizza special too, and I gotta say it's my new favorite. The creamy crabby sauce with corn and fatty bacon was a great combo. Although the cauliflower crust tends to get a little charred on the edges, I feel like it's a good substitute for a regular crust, compared to some other places. It was nice and crispy and not dry at all. Will be keeping an eye out for more specials from Alatri! read more

What a nice hidden gem. A friend and I are in search of best pizza joint and this came up on our search. Sizes were just right, and the crust was nice and crisp! We shared two different pizzas and while she really likes the margherita, I liked the eggplant. They were both excellent. I would love to return! I heard this song in my head..."please don't go.." while seated in this restaurant. The decor is nice We knew swthing was wrong when there was literally five people dining on a Saturday at lunch time. We ordered meatball sliders and mussels for appetizers. The sliders were good nothing special. The mussels were small and lacked any flavor. The pizza was the worst part...which was the focus of the meal. The pizza didn't even look appetizing. It lacked flavor the sauce didn't taste fresh, and the cheese was the same. I go on this platform to encourage folks to try good restaurants. In a time where we are in a recession AND in Bethesda so many choices...we should have requested our money back. read more

Decent spot! Would recommend if you're craving pizza and want to vibe out and have a place to sit. I tried the arugula and pear salad, plus Margherita pizza. Both good but not necessarily the best I've ever had. Still, a good place to hang out and grab a bite to eat. read more

I give them a c for effort. I ordered from doordash, i requested a gf pizza and a gf calzone which they offered on the site. Apparently the calzone couldnt be made, they had no contact info for me and they cancelled the order but still made a gluten filled calzone instead of a gluten free pizza. They said told the driver to tell me which he didnt. They also said they removed the gf option from the calzone online to prevent further issue. But not the worst thing seeing as the gf pizza is a soggy cauliflower crust pizza. C for effort 3 stars for even having a gf option but we had 2 people who didnt have a good dinner now. We've been loyal customers of Alatri Bros. for years, but unfortunately, we will not be returning--not because the quality of the food has declined, but due to the poor service from one particular waiter. He is consistently rude, often messes up orders, and is slow to attend to tables. At first, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, assuming he was simply overextended. However, after witnessing him speeding out of the garage in his black Honda, blasting music and littering, I realized his behavior outside the restaurant reflects his attitude inside as well--careless and aggressive. It's disappointing to see someone like this representing the establishment. Because of him, Alatri Bros. has lost regulars like us. read more

This Italian restaurant serves really tasty food at an affordable cost. It's on one of the main streets for the night life in Bethesda. This is a great "we don't feel like cooking" spot. The food is consistently amazing and the service is great. The pizza is thin crust and perfectly fire roasted. I came here on a Saturday afternoon with a friend for a doggie play date. I love that their outdoor patio area is dog friendly, the waitress even offered our pups water :) We didn't make reservations, but luckily we were seated immediately. There is plenty of seating available both inside and outside of the restaurant. I ordered the Meatball Pie as my entree, it comes with your choice of chicken or beef meatballs (I chose beef), mozzarella and tomato sauce. The beef meatballs were tasty, very juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed my meal, my only gripe was that typical pizza condiments were not readily available at our table like most pizza places (crushed red pepper, cheese, garlic powder, etc.) I would recommend this spot, especially for the dog friendly environment.
